Take a breath, now relax. no reason to get worked up over nothing.

0 · 1,033 views · located in Secluded Woods

a character in “As an apprentice...”, as played by JEDH3

Description

Name: Alexis Jaeger
"Just breath. It will all work out."
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Type: Destruction
Theme Song 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWTFvgeaOpo
Spells: Pulse: the lightest touch of anything he holds is increased over 100 fold, however he does not feel the added impact.
Homeland: Germany 955 (alternate universe)
Description: White hair, Grey eyes, almost always wears his armor. His black leather gloves have thin strips of steel lining the fingers, and a plate over the back of his hands. He stands about 5’10” and 180 lbs. He has a deceptively lean body, but years fighting in the war gave him hard muscles that can wield heavy weapons with ease. His two hammers sit in loops on either side of his hips.
Picture:
Image
Equipment: Twin War Hammers, Germanic armor.
Image
Personality: Extremely quiet and antisocial, he tends to stand by himself and leave other people alone. Although he is rarely depressed or angry, he is often mistaken for being upset. Ironically though he usually happy -or at the very least content- he becomes upset by other people constantly asking his why he is upset. He obeys orders without question, however he despises being controlled and manipulated.
Relationships: None?
History: Growing up in a warring nation, Alexis was one of many children who were taken from their homes and experimented on by the Ottoman empire. Experiments with magic were conducted on the children to make them into instruments of war for Otto the Great. Most died, however Alexis and a handful of others all survived and were given unique abilities. They all fought against the Roman Empire, and eventually won. However once the war was over, King Otto had no further use for them, and in truth, feared their power. They were all condemned to death, But Alexis and one other girl both escaped and ran into the forest. It was there that Alexis noticed the Poster. He thought it odd that something so out of place was nailed to a tree and his attention was drawn to it. His friend insisted that they keep moving, and that the poster was not important. When he refused to pay attention to her she ran off and he was left alone, reading an offer to learn magic.
Likes: Earth, Trees, Freedom, Girls.
Dislikes: Killing, Talking, Socializing, Being ordered around.

Cassandra Elyonill nodded.
"I see. You're not of this tongue. And yes, I can be helping, just wait here." She said to
Alexis, putting emphasis on the word 'here' yet not being rude or too firm. She walked a ways towards the cabin, then stopped and called out.
"You wouldn't mind coming over here, would you?"
Cassandra Elyonill's accent wasn't that different from that of a Brit's, in fact her accent was very similar to an English accent.

In the dungeon of Markarth there is two guards interrogating a prisoner who is suspected of being a Dark Brotherhood member. "Where are they!" A guard yelled as he smashed his fist against a young and bound man. This guard had been torturing this prisoner for days without bringing him food or water trying to find out the location of the Dark Brotherhood. "I... I don't under... I don't understand what your talking about!" The prisoner spoke while coughing out blood. "Gorm, Just kill the assassin. I'm sure the Jarl will reward the guard that killed one of the assassins of The Dark Brotherhood." Another guard laughed and handed his colleague a iron sword and gestured to the prisoner. "Kid I hope your soul is pitied by the gods." The guard was about to strike the boy down when he heard a faint growling.

Suddenly the prisoners arms grew long, his back hunched, his face became elongated, and all around his body grew a thick coat of fur. "Werewolf! Gorm, Run!" The guards scrambled around but were quickly incapacitated by the prisoner. I'm not going to kill you. You were just doing you job, you could have been a little less rough on me though. The prisoner thought and picked his things out of the evidence chest and left the dungeon that he was being held in. Many people were running in their homes while the prisoner's eye was caught to a flyer about a camp in the woods looking for a few apprentices to teach. That looks like a good time! Maybe I should get out of this hold and out of this form before I do anything. The prisoner thought and ran off into the woods hiding in a ditch when far enough away from his pursuers.

"You got lucky this time Michael." The former prisoner sighed and put on a new change of clothes tucking his shawl in between his belt and pants. If I remember right, that flyer didn't specify where this camp was. Michael thought to himself and started stumbling into the woods when he found a small camp with a few people in it. "Those odds must be extraordinary." Michael muttered astonished that he stumbled upon this camp of people.

Cassandra Elyonill nodded to Aero.
"Yes, I am a Ranger. Question is, are you willing to be my apprentice?" Ma'am? She thought. I'm starting to like this kid already. She thought again.
She gestured towards
Aero, Michael, and Valina to join her and Alexis.
"Now then, you've all seen the fliers. My first question to all of you would be, is the tongue I'm speaking in your native tongue, or atleast a tongue you're familiar with?" She asked all of the soon-to-be apprentices.

"Yes, I am a Ranger. Question is, are you willing to be my apprentice?" Aero nodded at the question, and looked over to the one in the armor. He didn't look like he came from anywhere near this kingdom, let alone this world. Aero had heard him speak, or at least he heard what might be the stranger's voice, and it sounded nothing like Aero had ever heard of before.

His thoughts and theories were interrupted with the Ranger speaking again. "Now then, you've all seen the fliers. My first question to all of you would be, is the tongue I'm speaking in your native tongue, or atleast a tongue you're familiar with?" What a coincidence. I was wondering about if that man in the shiny knight's armor is able to speak or language. Aero thought. In response to the Ranger's second question, Aero just nodded again.

Alexis was thoroughly confused by this point, more and more people were showing up, and he still had no idea what was going on. "Wo am Ich?" Alexis tentatively raised his hand, trying to use as much of the northern language as he could. "Ich- I tu nich... know... why I... bin here." It was embarrassing how long it took him to say such a simple question, but he barely knew the language, and it took time to remember the few words he knew.

Cassandra Elyonill chuckled.
"That answers that question. Very well, we'll sort that out for you later.
Arci knows many languages and may be able to translate. I, however, only know this tongue, Dovah and Latin." She looked at all of them. I'm guessing you, you and you," She pointed at Valina, Michael and Aero, "Are with me. You, however, look like you may be Arci's knew apprentice." She looked at Alexis. "Magic?" She said to him and nodded thoughtfully.
"I'll go wake her up. You three can wait around here, explore the camp or whatever. I have nothing to hide from you." And with that, she walked to
Arci's cabin to go wake her up.

Valina looked at the guy who had been with Cassandra, and tried to hide a smile. He really didn't know their language that well. It made her want to giggle and help him at the same time. Instead, she just pretended he wasn't there. When Cassandra walked off, Valina looked at the other person who was supposed to be with her. Then, she just stared. His hairs green, she thought dumbly, still staring at him. Normally people get embarrassed about staring or being stared at, but she didn't care for either. She learned to not care what people thought about her. But why is his hair green, is that natural? She had heard of people changing the colors of their hair with herbs, but it looked natural. Maybe it was normal, and she had just not met enough people yet. It was a likely option. She continued to think about this, a thoughtful expression on her face as her eyes darted from his hair to his eyes. They nearly match, she thought, and had to stop herself from smiling at that thought. Instead, she turned away and sat on the ground.

Aero shrugged. "I just wanted to talk. After all, according to that woman, we are going to be apprentices... We might as well get to know each other." Then Aero added "Well, that, and the fact that I'm bored. I usually play pranks and all, but I don't want her foot up my ass before I did anything here." Aero smiled. "So, what's your name? Mine's Aero. Oh, and I nothing is wrong with my hair, if you are wondering. I just had it ever since I remember. I asked my... parents and they responded with 'We dyed your hair when that first strand of hair came up, dear.'" Aero leaned in and whispered. "In all honesty, that is all comp, ete bullshit."

(Sorry. I accidentally tagged Alexis.)

Cassandra Elyonill walked outside the cabin, Arci following.
"Alright everyone. I figured I'd give you all the day off until the other two apprentices arrived. But that doesn't mean you're free to go. I think the first thing we should all do, if you haven't started already, is get to know each other." She smiled.

Arci shook her head.
"You'll have to forgive her for now, she's acting a bit like a drill seargent, huh? That's because she's never had any apprentices."

Cassandra Elyonill nodded.
"I'm sorry. I guess I should loosen up. With most people, Rangers way more in peticular, it's hard having apprentices. But, when we get apprentices, the relationship becomes more than Master-Apprentice. It's more like Mother-Daughter or Mother-Son." She sighed. "I'm Cassandra, Cassandra Elyonill. You can call me Cass or Cassie."

Arci laughed.
"And I'm Arci. Nix Arci, call me Arci though." And then she added, "And if any of you are up for some adventure just tell us. We've both been a bit stir-crazy lately. Also-" She never finished the sentence. Instead, she noticed the blood on
Valina.
"Oh, dear! Are you okay? Do you need help? I have a few potions back in my cabin, they're sure to heal you up in hours."

Alexis was feeling really uncomfortable, and was trying to figure out why he was still with these people. He couldn't understand them, and they obviously could not understand him. There was not any logical way they could help him. But he stayed anyway. Now he was resting his chin on the table, while lightly tapping the tabletop leaving tiny dents that not even his strong knight's hands were powerful enough to make.

The first girl who greeted him, and another girl, approximately the same age came out of one of the cabins together. They started speaking to the group. The new girl one started to fret about the girl with pointed ears, he could catch a few words, (something about blood) but nothing truly important as far as he could tell. He saw the blood on the elf girl and did not think it was life threatening. He resumed his tapping, and felt someone staring at him. he glanced back up to see the elf girl looking at him. His finger did not stop moving, but he did not look away either.

Valina smiled at the boy tapping his finger, who seemed to be trying to keep up with what happened. When he saw her and didn't look away, Valina took that moment to try and decide what kind of guy he was. Couldn't really ask him, as it was. He had white hair and greyish eyes, making Valina laugh a bit inside. Do all guy's eyes match their hair? she thought.
After a moment of still staring, she decided it probably wouldn't be too much a problem he couldn't communicate that well, since he seemed like the quiet type anyways. Still, he looked kinda like an outcast, standing over there while the rest were talking (somewhat).
Her smile turning into a grin, she waved her hand, motioning him to come over. She then looked back at the Ranger and the Mage, letting him decide if he would come over or not.

He cracked a slight smile at the girl and stood up. He picked up his hammers, spun them through his fingers out of habit, and dropped them in their loops. slowly he walked over, and stood a step outside of the circle of people talking. He hooked his thumbs through his belt and waited for something to happen.

"Yeah, that makes sense. I have patience. Not sure bout the discipline part..." she trailed off as he offered food and took out bread. Bread. Her mouth watered slightly, staring at it. Not rotting food or crumbs left behind. She flinched slightly at the thought. She was being greedy, since she should be grateful she ate at all. Still...
"Thanks," she said softly, giving a small smile. She decided she liked Aero, which was rare since she didn't really make friends.

Cassandra Elyonill had taken her time. All Rangers seemed to have incredible patience, they can sit still four hours on end in dead silent hiding in uncomfortable positions. Why? Well, their training was incredible. That's why there was so few of them. If they're going to learn to be patient, might as well take my time and teach it to them now. What these kids didn't understand, is Rangers had trained ears and eyes. They'd be trasined and get these 'abilities' too, but even accross the clearing she could hear them.
"Ha. Gut fish with their saxe knives? Well, they'll do it sometimes when they're out in the woods camping on missions..." She said to herself. When she'd finally entered her cabin, she retrieved two double scabbards, two of the specially shaped Ranger's throwing knives, and two saxe knives. Then she left her cabin and went back to them, taking her time of course.
"Okay. You two obviously won't have any experience with these two unique blades, but that's okay. I'm giving them to you know because you need to get used to them." She chuckled. "Ah. I have so much to teach you. Well, one is these blades will be your life savers multiple times. Two, they're made of a special steel using a special technique by taking multiple steel bars and twisting and bending them around each other, then shaping it. The point is, the special steel makes them capable of putting notches in broadswords, stopping them dead. They also rarely need to be sharpened." She gave them each their scabbards with the knives in them. Then, she moved her cloak showing them how the scabbard goes around the waist. She expected them to put them on.

Arci had been standing quietly with the kids. She decided she'd been ignored or forgotten so she just simply listened. By the time Cassandra came back she looked at Alexis.
"Yeah. Well, our mage training isn't so strict and often not as lengthy. You're free to do whatever you want for today, we'll start tomorrow morning."

Arci contemplated what to do.
"Hmm... Normally, the tongue we're speaking is the common tongue, and everyone's required to learn it... Atleast in Skyrim."

Cassandra nodded.
"As is the same in Araluen."

Arci thought for a second.
"Oh! Well, if I could find out his language, I could find a translation book!" She said to herself. Then she turned to Alexis and in sign language, she said... Well, 'language.' But just in case he didn't understand, she said "Language." Outloud, even if it might've been in vain attempt.

Cassandra said,
"I'm inclined to believe he means Dutch."

Arci frowned.
"Never heard of it. Though, Dutch does sound similar to what he said." Then she shook her head. "No. I won't have a translation book for a language I've never heard of. Though... I think I may know a of a shout that could help us."

Cassandra looked surprised.
"A Thu'um? Why not a spell."

Arci shrugged.
"I'm always anxious to learn a new Thu'um. And besides, if I had a spell for it it would make everything seem to easy." She pulled out a small book from her pocket.
"Dov... Zul, Zaan." She wispered. Instantly, the air moved away from her in a light shockwave, and draconic letters floated around all of them in a thin mist for a few seconds... Then... Nothing. It all seemed as normal.
"Did it work?" She asked herself and looked at Alexis. It did, infact work. He would be able to understand her as if she spoke his language and vise versa. They could all understand Alexis and he could understand them now. She looked at Cass,
"If it worked, the Thu'um is making us all speak in the language of Dovah, or Dragon, you should know. We're all just hearing each other in our native tongue. Pretty neat effect."

Aero examined the knives, and weighted them a little. The first one was larger, and more designed to be used to counter larger weapons, like swords. The knife is extremely sharp, sharper than knives usually are. It was also heavier than the knife on his right hand. The other knife is a basic throwing knife. This one, Aero might handle. However, it was smaller and less sharper than the other knife. Aero smiled as he saw how the knives were kept in personage, and he copied how they were sheathed.

He looked to see how the other person was doing, the one who could only speak the language. It was only after Arci had chanted the Thu'um that Aero walked in and asked. "So how is the translation problem going?"

Aero stared at the man who wasn't able to speak his language. "What the....? How can you speak in our language so fluently in a short amount of time?" He was confused. Was it the Thu'um that Arci had chanted? Aero stared at the man again. "So you're name is Alexis Jaeger? Where do you come from?" He had a lot of questions to ask....

Cassandra slooked at Aero.
"Woah, don't flog him with questions just yet. You may not realise this yet but he hasn't understood a word we've said and he needs to catch up with us." She looked to Alexis. "Hello, Alexis. I am Cassandra and this is Arci. This camp is our home, and I am the Ranger. She's the Mage. I'll be teaching these two-" She indicated Valina and Aero, "-the way of Rangers."

Arci nodded.
"And I'll be your teacher, teaching you the way of magic. And, if you're up to it, the Way of the Voice."

Arci smiled.
"Oh, don't worry about me experimenting on you! I would never. You see, you and two others will become my students," She put emphasis on the word, "not 'subjects'. You were brought here by the poster for a reason. I also enchanted them not only to bring you here if you had the intent, known or not, but also for us to know automatically which would become ours or the others upon seeing you. I can automatically know you're my student."

Cassandra smiled weakly.
"I normally don't put myself in with all of this magic, but this was very helpful on my part. She tells the truth." Then she looked at her two apprentices. "Well. Do you two want to start knife training tomorrow or today after lunch? We'll be going into the cavern complex sometime this week, and I thought you two should know all about it... Well, all we know. And that's not much." She handed them a leather satchel that contained a small journal and three maps on the inside. "Study that whenever. And another thing, more of a survival rule that us Rangers live by; Rest whenever you can. You could literally be attacked at any time and it's best to be rested, but always stay alert. Always. You two can rest, but talk together or whatever. Be alert, and you should probably study those maps and journal while I-" She took a breath. "Cook lunch."
And with that, she went to cook dinner for the five of them in her cabin.
