Arturo leant against a wall glancing over a book that he barely read anymore, he used it as a fairly good cover for his victims. A simple bump to drop his book. The victim would pick it up then Arturo would charm them. It just took patience and skill. Eye contact tended to work, but it was dampened by his eye contact which hid his bright red eyes a side effect of the addiction within.

Flirting did tend to work as well because luckily he was attractive enough that he would get approached by girls drawn to him, he wasn't vain in anyway he just used his looks to get what he wanted. Perhaps he was a little...

His eyes scanned as he "read" his book, he found his target, his mind intrigued by her looks. Her slim fitting face was only enhanced by her hair, glancing down her body quickly she dressed more for comfort than style it seemed. Perhaps she was tired, a job maybe or even university running her ragged. There was no one in this girls life as she wore limited makeup of her face, a slight glow from the natural pigments in her skin. Girls these days just covered themselves in make up turning themselves orange for no reason, thinking it made them more attractive, but they were all just blood to Arturo. Though his smiled inwardly already forming a plan, limited attachments from a victim meant he could hold onto her for longer, if she fit his taste that was. He would have a sample before deciding to keep her for a while or drain her where she stood. Arturo could feel another set of eyes on him. A girl was watching him already enamoured by his presence, he smiled darkly and held her there until he was ready to have her follow him when he had intercepted this new wonder.

Stepping forward he kept his head down, bumping into the girl dropping his book to the floor. " I'm very sorry. I should look where I'm going in future." He looked at her giving a smile.

Cassie plugged her headphones in and let the world switch off for a moment. The beat of the music swept over her as she gathered herself together. She would be pretty happy if she never had to take a bus again. They were the primary mode of transport for Creepy Old Men. She shuddered, thankful that she didn't have to wear a skirt for work. If she hadn't slept in, she wouldn't have needed to get the bus. She was going to have to speak to her neighbour. Again. She shifted her bag on her shoulder and began the short walk to the campus.

She weaved in and out of the people lingering on the street, trying not to knock anyone with her bag. Feeling a body collide with her, she pulled her earphones out, ready to be angry. She spotted a book on the floor and picked it up.

"I'm very sorry. I should look where I'm going in future."

She looked at the man who had walked into her. He was pretty attractive, she thought, only problem was that he knew it. She was pretty sure he wasn't a student. She would have remembered the girls in her classes giggling over him. "Yeah, no harm done though." She handed his book to him. "You, uh, you dropped this." She shifted her bag again before heading off to campus.

Damm... Arturo mentally kicked himself, that should have worked. This girl was strong willed, unable to fall for his usual tactics. Before it was simple, a girl would look in his eyes and bam! Completely under his power to do whatever he wanted with, the best thing was that they were all for it completely none the wiser. Although nowadays Arturo loved his meal to put up a fight oh how he loved the screaming and begging. It made the blood taste oh so sweet.

" yeah no harm done though, you, uh, you dropped this." Arturo smiled taking the book back from her, filtering through a little of his pheromone to trigger thoughts of him throughout the day.

" Thankyou very much...perhaps I'll see you around when I'm not crashing into people" he called back giving a small wave. He decided not to peruse until tonight grab her in darkness bring her back to his. Snatch and grab, Under lock and key. The very thought made him hungry. He motioned for the girl staring at him to follow, as another addition to his blood store although he was hungry her body would be gone by morning.

"Thank you very much...perhaps I'll see you around when I'm not crashing into people," he called after her.

"Yeah, maybe."

Cas kept her head down as she came on to campus, running across to the building she needed to be in. Thankfully, the lecturer was late and she slipped into her usual seat. "Hey, Cassie!" Cas looked up at the sound of her name. Claire, a bubbly red-haired girl, was calling her name.

"Yes?"

"You still good for tonight?"

Cas frowned, "Tonight?"

Claire slid into the seat beside her, "Yeah, there's a group of us going out tonight, you said you would," Claire dropped her voice, "Ben's gonna be there."

Cas dropped her notebook onto the desk, "Oh, try and hold me back," she said dryly, wondering where the hell that rumour had come from. "I'll be there okay?"

"Cool. Seven at Jamie's house, okay?" Claire got back up and practically glided back over to her seat. Did Ben know about this? That she apparently had a raging crush on him? Don't get her wrong, Ben was cool to hang around with, but that was it. He was the slightly nerdy, really cool guy she liked hanging out with. She had zero desire to jump into bed with the guy. Not unless she got really desperate.

Cas took a sip from her bottle. Claire was talking about something, but the music was drowning her out. Cas could feel the heat spiking on her neck. Claire landed a drunken kiss on Cas's cheek, "When are you and Ben gonna hook up?" Her voice managed to sneak over the music.

"When I get over my unrequited love for you."

"Awwww, I love you too."

Cas drained the rest of her beer, "I'm gonna head out for some air, you coming?"

Claire shook her head emphatically, "I'll let the others know where you are, okay?"

Cas gave Claire the thumbs up and headed outside. The cool air was a sharp contrast to the heavy heat inside. Cas sighed with relief, grateful that she'd had the foresight to tie her hair up before she came out. She leaned against the wall, feeling the cool brick on her bare shoulders. It was too warm in there. It was always too warm in the bar. She envied her friends, evidently they didn't feel the heat as quickly as she did. Lucky them, she thought.

Arturo sat at his desk swirling a glass of dark blood in his hand, he was reading over a stack of Writting he had been going over. He had taken to writing in the late 60's mainly fantasy novels and horrors. People did love a good scare it was just a surprise how much people enjoyed reading them and how much of his Writting was based off true experience.

Downing the blood he looked at the time, giving a dark smirk he would have to get going soon. His latest conquest was about to be collected, he had to have a top up first, otherwise he would drain her to quick and not have any fun. Well he would have fun but no company at all and that's what he wanted really. Deep down that is. He was thinking about his next meal.

Standing up he put on his jacket, grabbing a tight blindfold, duct tape and a zip tie, Arturo chuckled a little walking over to the front door unlocking it and heading out. It didn't take him that long to find her, waiting outside getting some fresh air, smiling to himself he waited a while. The coast was clear he had to make his move now.

He tore off some duct tape enough to go around her mouth and part of her head, in a swift movement he covered her mouth and pulled the blindfold over her eyes tying it tight. Yanking her hands behind her he clicked the zip tie around her wrists.

" Told you we'd see each other again. Didn't I?" He whispered into her ear. He lifted her over his shoulders and carried her back to his house managing to get another girl to take home as well. Locking the door with his two spoils in tow, he put the girl into a chair snapping the zip tie of her hands he sat down. Awaiting her reaction, the other girl standing on ceremony, the charm was wearing off.

" go and sit in the room with the red door, close it behind you. I'll be there shortly" he smiled and the girl went off into the large house.

The only other person outside headed back in. Cas took a deep breath and tilted her head back. The muffled bass echoed around her. She'd head back inside in a minute, long enough to cool down properly, not too long that Claire would start to worry.

She felt someone grab her. She tried to scream but they covered her mouth, a quiet squeal was all that anyone would hear. Cas began to wriggle, making it harder for her attacker to get any grip on her. A blindfold covered her eyes. Panic began to seep through her, making her fight harder to get away. Why wasn't anyone helping? Was there really no one else around? They grabbed her arms and tied them behind her back. "Told you we'd see each other again. Didn't I?"

Cas froze. She knew that voice. She'd heard it just that morning. My god, she thought, he's crazy. Why hadn't she worn trousers tonight? Oh right, because she didn't expect some nutjob to try and attack her. She felt a tear role down her cheek. Please let Claire or Ben come out, please. Just let someone come out and find me before he does anything. She threw her body from side to side, trying to get him off her, desperate noises dying in her throat. She felt her feet leave the ground as he threw her effortlessly over his shoulder. Someone must be able to see them by now, she thought. Someone will see and realise that something's up.

When he finally put her down, Cas felt something soft beneath her legs. A cushion. A seat. He'd put her down on a seat. She head a door lock. Well, there went that plan of escape. The zip tie was snapped off her wrists and she pulled her blindfold off. Her wrists were beginning to bruise as she massaged them. There was another girl in the room.

"Go and sit in the room with the red door, close it behind you. I'll be there shortly," he said to her. Cas gritted her teeth and yanked the duct tape off her mouth, watching the girl leave as she did. She winced, certain that she'd taken at least a layer of skin off her mouth. What the hell was going on? Was that girl in on this? Was this some weird thing they had going on where they took a girl back to their place and do God knows what to her? Cas pushed the rising fear down. She rose from the chair. He was stupid to untie her, she knew that much. She'd never been more aware of her body, the way the dress clung and shifted over her. He was a man used to having his way, it seemed. Cassie smiled sweetly, stroking her hand along his face. Make him think she wanted him. As she came to his jaw, she stopped. Her face went blank and she drew her hand back. Her hand curled into a fist and collided with his cheekbone. She'd always had a pretty decent swing on her.

Arturo simply watched as the girl ripped off the blindfold and the duct tape, her eyes full of fear and her heartbeat increasing as she tried to adjust to her surroundings. He lived for this reaction. The fear was delicious. She stood soon after sashaying over to him slowly the dress she was wearing clinging to her womanly curves, but he kept his eyes on her face as she put a hand on his face. The movement was slow and rather enjoyable, she drew her hand back and wham! A pretty good punch.

The blow took him off guard enough to start a ringing in his ears, he began to chuckle darkly. A smooth smirk in the corner of his mouth.

He stood up quickly grabbing her by the neck and pushing her hard against the wall, he hissed deeply at the back of his throat, fangs elongating. " that wasn't very nice was it? I was very gentle getting you here. I could have used more aggressive methods. And believe me I can be very aggressive." He released her neck flexing his fingers, he would need to feed soon. The headaches were starting again he pinched the bridge of his nose breathing deeply to clear most of the headache.

He walked over to his cabinet where he usually kept the red liquid, opening it up he searched for a while but found nothing. Grunting a little he stood up and eventually found a half full bottle sitting at a chair. Grabbing a glass he poured all of the blood into it, making sure to get every last drop.

Downing the liquid in a large gulp, he dabbed off the droplets left on his lips. Sighing softly as the blood worked its magic, he put the glass down on his desk to clear away later.

" Now.." He began walking towards the girl " You should know that you have to stay here. Luckily I decided not to put you in the red room. You are going to be more for my company and entertainment than any of my other slaves. Of course there are going to be some rules, where you can and cannot go, but I will try to make your stay here less frightening than you may think. When I am in a good mood all is well, if I am in a bad one then...hmm" he paused and walked towards the girl grabbing her arm and pulling her along with him.

" my house is very large, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, two study's, a library, a home gym. The shutters on the Windows stay closed incase I awake in the day. But I suppose I will allow you to open them to let some natural light in. You will find that I will bring people home and your are not to help them when I do. I understand you attend classes. You will need to tell me your schedule so I can accommodate meals for you and such. Even though I don't eat human food I do enjoy cooking. The smells more than anything"

Arturo paused at a door and opened it, reviling a lavish bedroom. Releasing her arm he motioned for her to go inside. " you may collect your items in a few days time, this weekend you will stay here so you can get used to things. Go to sleep the bathroom is adjoining to yours. There are some night clothes if you wish to use them." He explained pointing to the drawers.

He bowed his head " Arturo DeGari. Pleasure to meet you. Goodnight." He closed the door behind him, the hour was late and the sun would be up soon. He went to the red room to collect one of his slaves to bring back to bed with him, his mind still on his newest addition to his home.

He grabbed her by the throat and slammed her against the wall. "That wasn't very nice was it? I was very gentle getting you here. I could have used more aggressive methods. And believe me I can be very aggressive."

"Oh, is that what you call 'gentle'? Kidnapping people?" Yep, he was a certified basket case. He let go of her and went to search a cabinet in the corner of the room. Apparently finding nothing there, he turned and crossed the room to the table and picked up a bottle, draining the contents from it. Alcoholic, maybe.

"Now.." He began walking towards her. Cas steeled herself, unable to move away from him having not moved from her spot on the wall. "You should know that you have to stay here. Luckily I decided not to put you in the red room. You are going to be more for my company and entertainment than any of my other slaves. Of course there are going to be some rules, where you can and cannot go, but I will try to make your stay here less frightening than you may think. When I am in a good mood all is well, if I am in a bad one then...hmm."

Slaves? Red room? Oh god. Cas took a deep breath. He was insane. Insane and deeply perverted. He grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her along after him. "My house is very large," he continued, "five bedrooms, four bathrooms, two study's, a library, a home gym. The shutters on the windows stay closed in case I awake in the day. But I suppose I will allow you to open them to let some natural light in." Oh, how considerate of you, Cas thought, especially after you kidnapped me. "You will find that I will bring people home and your are not to help them when I do. I understand you attend classes. You will need to tell me your schedule so I can accommodate meals for you and such. Even though I don't eat human food I do enjoy cooking. The smells more than anything.

He stopped in front of a heavy looking door. He opened it and Cas was reluctant to admit it did look good. Not the kind of place she imagined kidnappers keeping their hostages. The furniture looked expensive, each individual piece probably cost more than all her furniture put together. The room was lavishly decorated with warm, earthy colours. It looked like a room in a top hotel. "You may collect your items in a few days time, this weekend you will stay here so you can get used to things. Go to sleep the bathroom is adjoining to yours. There are some night clothes if you wish to use them."

Cas slowly stepped into the room, her shoes sinking into the carpet. "Arturo DeGari. Pleasure to meet you. Goodnight." The door closed behind him.

Cassie waited a few moments, until she was sure that he was gone. She kicked off her shoes and gripped the poster of the bed to stay on her feet and took a few steadying breaths. Shower. She needed to shower first. She smelled of alcohol and sweat. She was tired too. There was no point in trying to figure her way out of here while she was on the brink of exhaustion. She slipped her phone from her bra and shuffled her dress to the floor. She checked her phone. Great, the battery was flat. No calling for help. She dropped her phone in the middle of the bed and headed for the bathroom. Much like the bedroom, the bathroom was expensive and luxurious. The bath was far too big for one person. Cassie shuddered, wondering exactly why Arturo would want a bathtub that big. The shower was opposite. Bottles of shampoo, gels and lotions were lining the tub and the shower. Had he been planning this? And for how long?

Cas shook her head and turned the shower on. Dropping her underwear to the floor, she stepped under the spray. She washed her hair and doused herself in shower gel. When she stepped out of the shower, she was carrying the scent of grapefruit. She wrapped herself in one of the giant towels folded on the dresser. Cas picked her underwear from the floor and went back into the bedroom. She shivered at the change in temperature, goosebumps raising on her arms. Looking through the draw Arturo had indicated, Cas did find night clothes, albeit smaller and silkier than she was used to. She was generally an oversized t-shirt and pants kind of girl when it came to nightwear. These were close fitting, silky and a little bit sexy. Cas finally settled on a pale gold cami and shorts set. She pulled them on, feeling practically naked as she crawled under the duvet. She left her hair, too tired to worry about it. As she drifted off to sleep, she was sure that Arturo had little concept of personal boundaries. If he wanted her to be awake, she was going to be awake whether she wanted to be or not.

Arturo stood for a while outside her door, mearly gauging if she was crying or trying to escape. Thankfully nothing happened, turning on his heel he made his way to the Red Room. Knocking on the door he entered looking at his stock he smiled softly as he glanced at all of the beautiful girls. Some hooked to machines that drained there blood so they could be bottled. He requested that they only be put on the machines for an hour or two a day so they wouldn't become weak and be unable to feed from later. Arturo had trained them all how to correctly insert the needle so there wasn't any mess if they hit an artery he lost many girls that way.

" Put the bottles in the cabinet when the last person has gone. Sarah, Rachel, Carrie, Mellisa, go to sleep please. Amy and Samantha you will be with me this evening." Arturo explained and the girls who were going to bed began to undress beyond the point of caring now if Arturo saw them naked. The two he called upon stood and followed him through the house to his room, Arturo undressed, changing into a pair of pijama bottoms as the girls pulled back the bed covers and climbed in waiting for Arturo to join them.

Turning the lights off Arturo got into the bed taking the girls in his arms, he kissed them gently on the head and slowly moved to feed from each of them slowly. Soon Arturo drifted off to sleep, informing one of the girls to wake up the girl at around 10, get her breakfast and show her around the house.

---

It was about 9:30 when Samantha woke up, still snuggled up to Arturo her head resting against his shoulder. One of his arms wrapped around her waist his hand resting on her thigh. Samantha slowly moved out of his grasp, watching as Arturo turned over deep in sleep pulling Amy into his arms burying his face into her neck.

Smiling Samantha stretched and got out of the bed stepping into the shower she washed her hair and the blood off her neck, she got a t-shirt and a pair of jeans slipping them on she stepped out of Arturo's room closing the door behind her. Turning on some of the lights in the house she headed to the kitchen putting the kettle on for some tea. Putting some bacon and bagels in the oven to cook slowly, as well as pouring some orange juice incase people preferred that.

Walking up to the girls door she knocked on the door and entered " Good morning. Are you awake?" She asked just incase the woman was still asleep.

Cas began to stir. Rolling onto her back, she slowly opened her eyes, expecting the usual stab of morning sun. She found herself disorientated when there was none. The room was still dark. Her body clock was no help. According to that, it was still dark, therefore it was time to sleep. Yet, Cas didn't feel tired. She remembered what Arturo had said to her last night, about keeping the blinds closed during the day. Was it really that important?

Slowly, Cas rolled off the bed and padded across the room to the window. She opened the blinds and the sunlight poured in. So it was daytime. Cas closed her eyes and let the warmth wash over her.

There was a knock at the door. The handle turned. Cas shut the blinds and turned. A girl came in, carrying a tray with what looked like her breakfast on. "Good morning. Are you awake?" the girl asked, not looking up.

"Yes, I am." Cas answered, not sure how she should interact with this girl. "What time is it?"

"Quarter to ten."

Cas took a moment to look at the girl. She was definitely pretty, the kind of girl you'd see staring out from the pages of a magazine. The kind of girl boys went crazy for. What the hell was she doing here? She could have the world at her feet if she wanted it. Was she staff? Or was this some kind of Stockholm Syndrome in action? Cas took the tray from the girl and set it down on the dresser. "Where's Arturo?"

"Still in bed."

"Thank you. Uh, you can go now."

The girl left and Cas looked at the tray. She gulped down the orange juice and took a few bites from the bagel. She quickly dressed, pulling on her dress from the night before. Last night's clothes were hardly ideal, but they were better than nothing. Praying that the girl was telling the truth, Cas began wandering the house, hoping Arturo had overlooked locking one of the doors, or even left a ground floor window open. As quietly as she could, Cas made her way downstairs, praying that Arturo wasn't about to wake up. There was little point in trying the front door, no one was stupid enough to leave that unlocked after kidnapping someone. She took a door to her left, quietly closing it behind her.

Cas looked around the room. Something about it choked her. This was a child's room. The silence felt heavy, like this room was meant to be revered. A small bed stood in the middle of the room. A rocking chair sat beside the bed. There was a picture on the wall. It was Arturo with a woman and a small boy. The picture was too old to be Arturo though, wasn't it? Either way, Cas figured that this room had once belonged to the little boy in the picture and, for whatever reason, the room had never been changed. Cas looked away from the picture and softly tread over to the window. Dust fell as she pushed the curtain aside. The windows in this room were old sash windows. Cas hooked her fingers through the metal loops and pulled. She rested her head against the frame, a string of curses falling from her mouth. She stood back and let the curtain close behind her. Now what?

Amy left the girl alone, so she could eat in solitude. Heading down to the Red room she woke everyone up for breakfast, whenever Arturo was asleep the girls would busy themselves with odd job, either washing or cleaning. Some had the privilege of going out and getting shopping whenever needed.

Most of the girls got up and headed to shower in one of the many bathrooms in the house as Amy served up breakfast from them all. She wondered where the girl had gone too. She walked around the house slowly checking each room for any signs of the new girl. She paused at a room that she knew she wasn't supposed to go in. She wouldn't have gone in there. Not already? Arturo must have told her where she can and can't go. Perhaps he was leaving this to her? She did recall him saying something like that.

Taking a deep breath she opened the door slowly and entered gasping as she saw the girl at the window. " What are you doing in here!?" She whispered harshly, rushing over to take the girls hand and adjust the curtains so they were the same as before. Tugging the girl away she spoke still in a hushed tone " If Arturo finds out you've been in here he is going to flip, you need to change your clothes and have a shower. To get the smell off you. I have some clothes you can borrow. I hope he won't notice" Her face became worried thinking how Arturo would react. If he did she could pass it off as a mistake, a simple error in exploration.

A loud scream echoed through the house and Amy paused in fear, she waited before relaxing. It was one of Arturo nightmares. Just a sleep scream nothing bad enough to wake him up...yet.

" it's okay just bad dreams" she commented.

She sighed softly and lead the girl through the house, " I know you've just got here and all but, you need to learn quick. The room you just went in don't go in there. Don't even mention to Arturo about it. Same for the attic. You want to avoid making him angry. He may seem strict but he can be a nice guy" she paused at the Red room.

" Wait here don't move" she begged rushing through the door and to her chest of clothes picking out some jeans and a top. Returning quickly. " Right please go and shower. Quickly. Use the blue soap its more fragrant. I'll try and explain to you as best I can when you come out. Just hurry if Arturo wakes up before he's meant to he is more pissed than usual" she ushered the girl to move turning quickly to go and sit down in the living room with the rest of the girls.

"What are you doing in here?" A female voice whispered behind her.

Cas jumped and turned around. A pretty, dark haired woman stood in the doorway. Jesus, what was it with guy and hiring only pretty ones? Was there anyone in this house, besides herself, that was average looking, or at the very least didn't look like they'd jumped out of a magazine center spread. Before Cas could answer that she was planning on hopping out of the window, the dark haired woman continued. "If Arturo finds out you've been in here he is going to flip, you need to change your clothes and have a shower. To get the smell off you. I have some clothes you can borrow. I hope he won't notice."

Cas found that she didn't mind if Arturo found out she'd been here. Why should she pacify him? He kidnapped her for crying out loud. Still, clean clothes would be nice. The woman looked like she was roughly the same dress size as Cas was so at least she wouldn't have to worry about ill fitting clothes. A scream echoed through the halls. Unless there were other men here, that was Arturo.

"It's okay just bad dreams," the woman said as she began leading Cas back through the house. So Arturo had nightmares. Judging by the woman's reaction, Cas was supposed to feel some degree of sympathy for the man. She didn't. Everyone had nightmares. "I know you've just got here and all but, you need to learn quick. The room you just went in don't go in there. Don't even mention to Arturo about it. Same for the attic. You want to avoid making him angry. He may seem strict but he can be a nice guy."

What was wrong with the people here? "Nice guy? It may have escaped your attention, but nice guys don't kidnap people."

They paused outside a room. "Wait here don't move" she begged rushing through the door, "Right please go and shower," she said on her return, handing Cas a bundle of clothes. "Quickly. Use the blue soap its more fragrant. I'll try and explain to you as best I can when you come out. Just hurry if Arturo wakes up before he's meant to he is more pissed than usual."

"If he's such a nice guy, why do you seem so afraid of him?"

The woman disappeared into the room behind the door. Cas sighed and took the clothes back to her room. She threw the bundle on the bed and changed into them. Screw taking the shower, she thought. If Arturo wanted to get mad at her, then he could get as mad as he liked. Maybe he would learn that not everyone here was going to bend over backwards to accommodate him. She slipped her dead mobile in her pocket and padded back downstairs, making a note to stay away from the room the dark haired woman had disappeared into. Guess it's time to explore this place properly, Cas thought. So far, it was the only way she could think of getting out of there.

Amy sighed as the girl didn't return, she would have to find out for herself now. She rushed into the living room where everyone was sitting and relaxing. " We may have a problem...the new girl might stir something up. She already went in Tristan's room, he's bound to find out. As long as she stays away from Emma's Study she might survive. If not we're in for a rough couple of days. We need to keep the supply up how many bottles have we got twelve? We might need more.." She trailed off and the girls went to work in the red room.

Amy sighed heavily running a hand through her hair. Deciding that she would tell the poor girl what was in store. Well the fact that Arturo hadn't stuck her with them yet was a wonder. She moved through the house quickly finding the girl near the library a few doors away from Emma's room.

" Look you need to know something. We are all in the same boat as you. All of us. Thing is we don't stay here very long. I've been here the longest. Arturo keeps me around because I tend to organise things a bit better than the other girls. When the girls become unuseful to Arturo he replaces them. Don't try to escape he become more angry and when he is angry he hurts your more...he doesn't mean to You see he's....Arturo...is a.." She trailed off the colour draining from her face as Arturo appeared still dressed in his pijama bottoms, shirtless with a sheen of sweat over his toned muscles hair slightly tossed. Blood smeared down his chin and chest.

" A nice guy beneath it all" Amy finished giving a slightly forced smile. Arturo smiled and ushered her away " Having a tour? I'm sure you'll love the library. Where else have you been?" He asked and paused sniffing quickly. He snarled pushed her against the wall. " How dare you go into....that place is forbidden. Anywhere else in the house but not there!" He shouted sharply hitting the wall with his fist. " This can be difficult or easy, the difficult option plans you in your room, meals delivered and myself or one of my slaves draining you every day. The easy option you have free roam, I was considering letting you out for classes, with limited draining But you disregarded the rules!" He snarled and pinched his nose groaning softly.

Damm this headache, he clicked his fingers and Amy appeared at his side. He took her in his arm and bit down on her neck and audible gasp leaving her lips. Arturo snarled as he feed feeling his headache leave him, he glared as Cas as he feed pulling away setting Amy down in a chair to recover. Stepping up to Cas he hissed deeply, " you have an hour to chose your option, difficult or easy. Life or death." Storming away he slammed his door.

Cas was wandering around the house when Amy caught up to her again. "Look you need to know something. We are all in the same boat as you. All of us. Thing is we don't stay here very long. I've been here the longest. Arturo keeps me around because I tend to organise things a bit better than the other girls. When the girls become unuseful to Arturo he replaces them. Don't try to escape he become more angry and when he is angry he hurts your more...he doesn't mean to You see he's....Arturo...is a.."

An asshole? A nutjob? A certified maniac? An alien? At this point, Cas was willing to believe anything that came out of the woman's mouth. What did he do with the girls he got bored of? What happened to them? Everything she heard about Arturo raised more questions than it answered. Before the woman could finish her sentence, Arturo appeared, blood smeared around his mouth and down his chest. Cas went cold and felt sick.

"A nice guy beneath it all," the woman finished, her voice slightly too high to be convincing.

Arturo smiled and ushered her away "Having a tour? I'm sure you'll love the library. Where else have you been?" He paused and sniffed the air. His face changed and he pinned Cas against the wall, "How dare you go into....that place is forbidden. Anywhere else in the house but not there!" Cas flinched as his fist connected with the wall, just above her head. "This can be difficult or easy, the difficult option plans you in your room, meals delivered and myself or one of my slaves draining you every day. The easy option you have free roam, I was considering letting you out for classes, with limited draining. But you disregarded the rules!"

Arturo snapped his fingers and the woman appeared at his side. He sunk his teeth into her neck. Oh God. Cas's breath came short and sharp. He was a vampire. Cas spread her arms, searching for purchase on the wall.

Vampire.

Arturo stepped towards her, fresh blood staining his mouth. "You have an hour to choose your option, difficult or easy. Life or death."

He walked away and slammed the door behind him. Oh no. He'd messed up. He'd made her angry. He was not getting away with that one. She followed him through the door, slamming it open, "And how, my liege, am I supposed to know where I am and am not allowed to go if you don't bother to explain the rules to me? You never told me which rooms to stay out of. And, more to the point, stop acting like I'm an inconvenience to you. You kidnapped me. If anything, you are inconveniencing me. Did you even think this through? People are going to notice I'm missing if you keep me locked up here the entire time. I have people who care about me, who will call the police. In fact, my friends are probably going out of their mind with worry right now. So unless you want every police officer in the district crawling around, you are going to have to let me go to class. Your choice. I await your decision, m'Lord." Cas curtsied deeply, sarcasm wrapped around her every moment.

Fixing him one last glare, Cas turned and left the room. The dark haired woman was waiting outside, "You're all mad," Cas said in passing before heading back to her room. Her bravery failed her as she crossed the threshold of her room. She closed the door behind her and slumped to the floor. She was dead. He was going to kill her. Her mind crossed to Claire, to her parents, to Ben. She was gonna die and they might never find her. Cas hastily wiped a tear away. She was not going to cry. Cas took a shaky breath and sat on the bed. All she could do now was wait for Arturo.

Arturo was sat on his bed jaw clenched together, his mind ticking over everything. He thought process was halted however when Cas came back, slamming the door open.

"And how, my liege, am I supposed to know where I am and am not allowed to go if you don't bother to explain the rules to me? You never told me which rooms to stay out of. And, more to the point, stop acting like I'm an inconvenience to you. You kidnapped me. If anything, you are inconveniencing me. Did you even think this through? People are going to notice I'm missing if you keep me locked up here the entire time. I have people who care about me, who will call the police. In fact, my friends are probably going out of their mind with worry right now. So unless you want every police officer in the district crawling around, you are going to have to let me go to class. Your choice. I await your decision, m'Lord."

Sarcasm dripped off her every word and to be honest he found it quite amusing. As well as being quite gusty for her to show this kind of anger towards him. Fear did make people do odd things gave a burst of adrenaline to enhance thinking and movement. This was her release it seems. He would have to tread carefully in order to gain her trust. Instead of forcing this on her. If she had obeyed his commands it would have been just fine!

Leaving soon after Arturo stood washing the blood off his face slipping on a clean shirt buttoning it up he made his way to her room. Knocking on the door he entered.

" I will explain the rules now. I was waiting till you had settled a little, perhaps talked to some of the other girls. Instead on wandering off on your own.." He growled softly but pinched the bridge of his nose and calmed down.

He motioned for her to follow him as he slowly walked through the house " Obviously you have discovered one of the rooms you are forbidden to enter this is another" he paused and pointed to a door. " Please do not go in there..it...it's.." He cleared his throat and carried on. " everywhere else if fine for you to go. Make the most of the facilities. I am unaware of your current relationship status but you will be unable to bring people back here. Unless I ask you to that is. The door remains locked the whole time. I will give you a key so you can let yourself in and out. You can go to classes but you must be back by 7:30 at night we can talk other arangments when you are back.any question you have and so forth"

He showed her the gym, the library, the study that he mainly used and other rooms in the house. He lead her to the door unlocking in handing her a key. " use this key to get back in. You can go and collect your clothes and other things that you need. If there is questioning about where you have been. Explain that you hooked up with someone. Or simply went home. Remember I can find you whereever you are. Your heartbeat is like a fingerprint" he explained stepping away from the door to avoid the sunlight.

" See you tonight" he added walking off.

Cas followed Arturo through the house. "Obviously you have discovered one of the rooms you are forbidden to enter this is another" he paused and pointed to a door. You can go to classes but you must be back by 7:30 at night we can talk other arrangements when you are back, any question you have and so forth."

Cas nodded, not entirely comfortable with the arrangements Arturo was laying out, but undeniably relieved that he wasn't going to kill her. Not yet anyway. This all sounded like the plans of a man who intended to keep her around for a little while at least. If things started heading south, she could think of a plan then. No need to start crossing bridges until you get them and all that. Arturo dropped a key into her hand.

"Use this key to get back in. You can go and collect your clothes and other things that you need. If there is questioning about where you have been. Explain that you hooked up with someone. Or simply went home. Remember I can find you where ever you are. Your heartbeat is like a fingerprint."

Cas closed her hand around the key, willing her breathing to slow down. What the hell had she got herself tangled up in? Oh, just the plot of some weird ass vampire movie. Since when were vampires real? Cas barely heard Arturo leave. She opened the door and stepped outside. She gave her eyes a moment to adjust to the light, wincing at the sudden change. She wrapped her arms around herself and headed home.

Cas opened the door to her apartment and plugged her phone in. She kicked her shoes of and padded through the hallway. After the decadent luxury of Arturo's house, hell the place was practically an estate, her own apartment seemed almost squalid by comparison. The flatpack furniture was cheap and the whole thing was small. But it was home, and that was what mattered. She pulled her dress off and stepped into the shower.

When she was done, Cas tied her hair back and pulled on some sweatpants and a t-shirt, and set about getting some work done. Her head felt fuzzy as she tried to concentrate on the screen. This wasn't going to work. Cas sighed and shut her laptop. She had nothing to do until Arturo wanted her back apart from pack her bags. She wasn't exactly looking forward to going back, but she didn't want to deal with the consequences if she didn't turn up. With nothing to do, Cas began packing clothes and books into a bag.

Seven rolled around and Cas grabbed her bag and phone and headed back to Arturo's. The walk wasn't so bad as early evening rolled in. The air was pleasant as she wove through the streets. She unlocked the door to the house and let herself in. She checked the time. She was a few minutes late, but she was sure Arturo would forgive that.

Arturo had returned to bed once Cas had left, his head was pounding now. Growling to himself he went and spoke to Amy first, checking her neck " I'm sorry..I'm sorry if I hurt you.." He began taking her in his arms which she rested her head against his chest " It's okay Arturo..I know you only meant to scare her. It doesn't hurt anymore. I cleaned the bite out and had something to eat and drink." Amy explained patting Arturo's back gently.

Arturo smiled softly " Good. Tell everyone to go out today, either get some shopping done or just relax for a bit. I'll make dinner tonight. I need some time alone. To rest and think" he muttered to himself leaving the group to themselves.

He walked through the house a glass of blood in one hand a bottle of blood in another. He paused outside his wife's study, not daring to go in resting his head against the door. " I don't know what to do my love...humans are more difficult these days. They have more personality. I try to show these girls compassion and safety then I bring a human home who is more defiant than you are my dear. I don't even know her name" He smiled softly tears running down his face slowly. He kissed the door gently and left to go to bed.

Arturo awoke rather late into the evening around 7:15, he stepped into the shower and headed downstairs into the kitchen. All the girls were back expect for Cas she still had some time to get her, he didn't really expect her to refuse to come back especially with his threat of finding her.

" Did you have a nice day out girls?" He asked as he went into the fridge getting out chicken and an array of vegetables. Chicken and rice was always good and the girls never complained about it. The girls all replied with various stories of what they did and such. It didn't take long for the food to cook and Arturo was just dishing up when Cas walked in.

" Good Evening" he began as he dished up the remaining plates " Chicken, peppers, tomatoes and rice for dinner if your hungry" he explained turning to face her, she certainly looked different with a dress on, still beautiful nonetheless.

" I'll leave you to eat ladies, I will be in my study" he commented and left. Amy smiled as she got a plate of food sitting at the table " Don't take it personal he never eats with us. Vampires cant eat human food. Makes then really ill."

Cas left her bag in the hallway. She tied her hair back as she sat at the table. " I'll leave you to eat ladies, I will be in my study." Arturo said as he left.

Amy sat at the table. " Don't take it personal he never eats with us. Vampires cant eat human food. Makes then really ill."

Cas nodded as she began eating. At this point, she was just running with the whole 'vampire' thing. She wasn't even entirely sure that she believed that Arturo was a vampire. The most important thing was that the rest of the girls and, more importantly, Arturo believed it. The best thing was to accept the crazy and move on. He wasn't that first crazy guy she had dealt with. She had hoped that she'd had her fill of crazy guys, but evidently the universe wanted to throw her another curve ball. Maybe Claire had been right, maybe she should have just hooked up with Ben a few times. At least then she could say that she'd actually been with a decent guy.

Cas was pleasantly surprised at how good the food tasted. She hadn't realised how hungry she was until she started eating. She tried to eat slowly, but her hunger stopped her. She ate quickly and washed her plate. She grabbed her bag from the hallway and headed back to her room. She stopped by Arturo's study on the way. She knocked on the door. "Thank you," she said, not sure if he was listening, "for dinner." She left and headed to the room.

Dean shifted his bag on his shoulder. Westchester seemed nice enough, just the sort of place he could see Cassie settling down in. Ideally with him. She would see sense, they were meant to be together. He checked the address on the business card against the address he found himself at. The B&B looked quaint from the outside. He headed inside.

The doorbell chimed as he entered. A young woman, maybe a few years older than himself came to the reception. She was pretty, he guessed, not as pretty as Cassie though. "Hi," she greeted him, "can I help you?" Her voice was honey-sweet.

"Yeah, Dean Archer, I've got a room booked."

The girl checked the computer next to her. "Archer...Archer. Dean Archer, room 13." She handed him the key to the room. "I hope you enjoy your stay in Westchester Mr. Archer."

Arturo looked up from his Writting, his momentary thoughts paused as a knocking came on his door. Looking up he saw Cas there, looking a little awkward to be in his study. She thanked him for dinner and he smiled softly in return giving a little nod. He appreciated the sentiment, gratitude went a long way and with how old Arturo was he had seen the rise and fall of politeness and common courtesy. It was why he did what he did, why he had all of these girls in his house, he kept them safe from harm, either from themselves or others. He hadn't figured out Cas yet but he had a feeling that he had stepped in just the right time.

He sniffed deeply taking a long drink from his glass downing the blood in one, standing up he closed his book and put it with the others. He had amassed quite a collection of diaries, starting when the addiction started up until know when he started helping people. He put on his jacket and stepped out of his study " I'm off out ladies, no need to go on the machines today, I will get my own meal" he said after poking his head in the kitchen, giving a smile and walking into the night.

" No machines what is he on about?" One of the girls asked as she washed up her plate. Amy sighed " It's the new girl..obviously Arturo knows somethings about to happen. We might be in for a rough couple of days depending on what she needs saving from. I'm gonna go talk to her." Amy reached into the freezer and pulled out a small tub of ice cream and two spoons.

She walked to Cas's room knocking on the door she entered giving a smile " Hey..I thought you might like some company? I suppose I can help you out by answering any questions you have and I'll tell you a little about our situations and why we are here..." She trailed off sitting on the bed showing the ice cream " I've got Ben and jerrys!" She smiled wiggling her eyebrows.

Cas unpacked her bag onto the bed. She moved some of the clothes already there to make space for her own clothes. She ran Arturo's choice of clothes through her fingers. Just one of these shirts probably cost more than she made in a month. Maybe she'd get used to wearing them in time. Cas shook her head and finished putting her clothes away. There was no point in getting used to anything here, she wouldn't be staying that long anyway.

Cas pulled her dress off and changed into a t-shirt and sweatpants. As Cas pulled her t-shirt over her head, there was a knock at the door. "Yeah?"

Amy came in, a tub of ice cream in her hand. "Hey..I thought you might like some company? I suppose I can help you out by answering any questions you have and I'll tell you a little about our situations and why we are here..." she said, sitting down on the bed. " I've got Ben and Jerrys!"

Cas nodded, "Ok, yeah, sure." She joined Amy on the bed. "So, uh, what is the deal here? Why do you all stay? Why don't you try to leave?"

Dean opened his laptop, scrolling through for anyone that might be doing the same major as Cassie. He knew she wanted to major in Literature, so that helped. He checked name after name of potential classmates, paying particular attention to any guys he came across, finding no clue that any of them knew Cassie. His mouse hovered over a profile. It was the girl from the reception. Claire Sanders. Curious, he clicked on her profile. He checked Claire's pictures.

Click No. Click No. Click Yes.

There she was. Cassie stood smiling, her arm around Claire's shoulders. God, she was beautiful. He ran his finger down the screen in lieu of being able to touch her face for real. He grabbed his cell and headed back down to reception. The girl was still there. "Hey, do you know Cassie Shephard?"

"Cas? Yeah, sure, why?" Claire asked.

"I'm supposed to be meeting her, but I can't get in touch with her." He held up his phone, "My phone rebooted and I lost all my contacts. Do you have a number for her?"

Claire twisted her hands together. "I'm not sure I-"

"Come on, she'll never know. She'll just think I'm calling her. I won't tell if you don't." He smiled at her, using the same smile he had used to charm Cassie.

Claire nodded, scribbling down a number on a scrap of paper. "There you go. She might not answer. I think she hooked up with someone, she kinda disappeared on us last night."

"I'll give it a try, thanks." He smiled tightly. Why the hell was Cassie sleeping with someone else? They were meant to be together. Cassie and Dean, that's how it was supposed to be. No one else. "I'll see you around."

Amy smiled and took of the lid of the ice cream digging her spoon into the creamy desert taking a bite as she thought how to begin.

"Well..." She began biting her lip a little " I've been here for about 2 and a half years,I was in a real dark place, I met Arturo one day, we got talking at the book store where I worked. A few days after I was standing on top of the Rockford bridge. I'm about to step off when I'm yanked back by Arturo. He brings me back here and tells me that I'm not allowed to leave until I'm safe within myself. I had good days and bad days, I tried to leave but Arturo would always find me even if I left in broad daylight. I knew I couldn't run from my problems until I faced them myself." Amy explained.

She sighed softly " for some reason whenever something bad it about to happen Arturo is always there. He saved Samantha from her abusive husband and put her daughter in safe housing until the court case came through and he Is going to jail soon so she will be leaving. Mellisa was on the streets selling her body, and Rachel and Carrie just didn't feel safe after their house burnt down. He helps us for a reason..because of what happened I mean. Well you saw Tristan's room. I don't feel right telling you about Arturo's history. I mean we all know it but he told us a few months after we got the whole vampire thing. " she explained running a hand through her hair.

" we can leave when we want to but it's as long as we feel we are ready to leave" Amy added " why did Arturo bring you? Or don't you know yet?" She asked.

Cas quietly ate the ice cream as Amy spoke, nodding as the other woman explained everything.

"For some reason whenever something bad it about to happen Arturo is always there. I mean we all know it but he told us a few months after we got the whole vampire thing."

Cas nodded again. "Right, the Vampire Thing. That might take some time to get my head around. For the last twenty years, they've just been a story."

"We can leave when we want to but it's as long as we feel we are ready to leave" Amy added. "Why did Arturo bring you? Or don't you know yet?"

Cas shrugged. "I honestly don't know. I left home and there's only two people who know where I went to." Cas's phone buzzed on the bedside table. Odd, she wasn't expecting a call. She slid from the bed and checked the caller ID. Unknown number. Claire must have got a new phone. God knew she lost enough of them. She held up two fingers to Amy, indicating a moment. She answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Cassie?" A familiar voice came through the line. Dean.

Cas felt her face drop. She felt cold and couldn't quite catch her breath. "How did you get this number?"

"That doesn't matter. Why did you leave? We were great together Cassie."

"Don't call me that!" She could feel her eyes welling with tears. No, she wouldn't give him the satisfaction. She took a deep breath. "You do not get to call me that. Not anymore. You delete this number now Dean and never talk to me again. I want nothing to do with you." Cas hung up and slammed her phone down. Her hands were shaking. She went to the adjoining bathroom and grabbed the beaker from the sink. She filled it with water and gulped the water down. She splashed water over her face and held the edge of the sink, taking deep breaths. She could feel herself calming down. "Sorry about that," she called through to Amy as she dried her face.

Amy smiled as Cas spoke of her uncertainty "Right, the Vampire Thing. That might take some time to get my head around. For the last twenty years, they've just been a story." Although that was to be short lived as the color in her face drained as she received a phone call.

"Don't call me that!"You do not get to call me that. Not anymore. You delete this number now Dean and never talk to me again. I want nothing to do with you." Cas hung up and slammed her phone down. Her hands were shaking.

She made a quick exit to the bathroom at first Amy thought she was going to throw up so she stood walking to the doorway. "Sorry about that,"

Amy smiled " It's okay. I take it this Dean is your ex? Sounds like a peice of work if you ask me." She was already planning to tell Arturo about the phone call unless he had already figured it out by now.

Arturo walked slowly his mind still ticking over what had to be done, what was it? He sat down at a local bar surveying the room his ears picking out the sounds of a disagreement on a phone. As well as a voice he recognised straight away on the other side of the phone call.
"Don't call me that! You do not get to call me that. Not anymore. You delete this number now Dean and never talk to me again. I want nothing to do with you."

Surprising a growl he watched the male for a while sniffing deeply to filter out his scent, tracing his heartbeat so he could find him if he needed to. He wanted to kill him right there and then make it as painful as possible. But there was too many people around.

He rushed home and to Cas's door knocking on it he spoke " Cassandra? Can I speak to you a moment please?"

"It's okay. I take it this Dean is your ex? Sounds like a piece of work if you ask me."

Cas gave a half laugh. It was a bitter, hollow noise that sounded more like a bark than a laugh. "That's one way of putting it. But yeah, he's my ex," Cas sat back down on the bed. "He shouldn't even know I'm here. He shouldn't even have my number." Cas ran her hands through her hair. "He shouldn't be able to find me. I'm not online under my real name. I was so careful." She was panicking again. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

There was a knock on her door. Cas's head snapped up. "Cassandra? Can I speak to you a moment please?"

Cas got up from the bed and padded over to the door. She opened it to let Arturo in, "Sure. What's up?"

Arturo stepped in giving a small smile to the pair " Unfortunately I'm going to suggest that you stay inside the house for a few days. No going out what so ever. I heard a conversation between a man and yourself on the phone. I believe he is here for personal reasons with intent to harm you." He explained as best as he could without going into details.

" he is no where near the house at the moment hopefully he has spoke to no one who knows where you are. To be safe I would limit contact with friends, if he knows who your friends are he may try to hurt them to get to you. " He added rubbing the back of his neck.

Sighing softly " if you prefer I can confront the man in question and deter him from coming near you again. Or I can kill him. Whichever suits you. I've known I've had to protect you since I brought you here. I didn't expect things to come to fruition this quickly."
