P E R S O N A L I T Y
Stubborn ; Sarcastic ; Feisty ; Loyal ; Witty ; Independent ; Adaptable ; Cynical ; Valiant
If one wanted to be metaphorical, they could describe Gin as many things. A firecracker, with her hot temper and fiery personality. A scimitar, with her sharp, cutting words. A temperamental storm, unyielding yet beautiful. She is straightforward in that she seldom twists what she says. Her only facade is her apparent toughness, under which is a softer, more delicate skin that she'd rather evaporate into nothingness than have held on permanent display. She is a clever girl, a master at excuse-spinning and escape-making. A wily smile is often seen dappling her face when she is up to mischief, betraying her guilt in whatever trouble she has caused.
She is a stubborn creature, more so than any old mule. A mule you can shoot dead and be done with. Gin? If you try that ploy with her, you can be sure as hell that she'll come back as a ghost, choosing vengeance and the last word over any silly old 'Heaven'.
She's compassionate, albeit reluctantly so, and struggles to disguise what really is a rather gentle soul, particularly around children and particularly cute animals. She is witty, always with a clever comeback or bout of snark up her sleeve, and at the ready. Gin hates to depend on people, and has gotten used to never having anyone but herself to turn to thanks to the last couple of centuries spent in a lamp, and being forced to serve a few dozen self-obsessed, greed-driven tossers. Because of this, she is often determined to do things on her own, despite the help now at the ready to assist her if she only asks.
She doesn't take orders kindly, for obvious reasons, and is determined to appreciate her new-found freedom in any way that she can, and thus a rebellious spark has been lit in her soul, often turning to an inferno when faced with particularly infuriating rules and regulations.
She is fiercely protective of her friends, and would certainly put herself on the line a thousand times over for their sake, and although she is reluctant to allow anyone to get to close, she often finds her high walls crumbling in the face of those like Ari and Irvyn. She is charismatic, able to bring a crowd to their feet using cleverly laced sentences and poetically spun words. She carries an air of empowerment when speaking publicly, and Ari has often joked that she could be the next president of the US.
Gin's response?
"Sure. Why not? Sounds like fun."

H I S T O R Y
Djinn are... complicated. Complicated in that no one knows how genies come into existence. Not even the genies themselves know exactly how they came to be. As far as anyone knows, they just... are. Djinn have no memory of what happened before they were lampbound. Or even if they were anything before they were lampbound. In reality, she became a genie eighteen years ago. Before that, she had another life. An ordinary life. But she remembers none of it. All she remembers is her gilded prison, her lamp. The idiots, bigots, and morons that clutched her cage in their hands, eyes filled with mad glee, and mind clouded by greed.
She just remembers being a djinn.
Djinn are some of the world's most powerful creatures, with magic unrivaled. However, their weakness is their will, something that is leashed from the first second of their existence, clutched by whomever wields their loathed home, be it lamp, ring, or trinket. They are exceedingly rare, and their numbers, for reasons unknown, have only decreased in the recent years. Now, there are unlikely to be more than a handful left on the planet, most left abandoned and unnoticed in attics, buried with old kings, buried underground as to never be used.
She's had a number of masters, all of which she's witnessed spill their wishes recklessly, stupidly. To name a few...
There was Aladdin, her first master, an poverty-stricken lad that first wished for escape from the cave in which he found her. Then to become a prince. Then? She didn't find out. She was stolen from under his nose by the royal vizier of the father of the princess he was wooing so eagerly.
There was a scornful women who desired revenge on her cheating husband. But instead of harming the husband, the woman laid waste to the life of the husband's 'whore', turning her into a hideous creature with snakes for hair and eyes that turned beings to stone. What was that poor girl's name? Maddy? Medea? ...
Then their was the mysterious person with the dark eyes and hidden face. Their first wish was into a wealthy lady's home. There, they slayed the woman in her sleep, dragging a blade across her throat and disappearing back into the night when a mirror shattered, alerting guards. In their haste, they did not notice the lamp slip from the pocket, nor the ivory-haired girl sitting among the glass shards.
Which brings us to Gin's most recent, and current 'master' although neither treats each other as such. It was here that Gin met Ari, and the pair grew close through their similar lives, trapped for the sake of another's pleasure and comfort. Ari could not set Gin free, as supposedly, only 'True Love's Kiss' can free a djinn (isn't that always the way), but she did what she could: promised to never use her remaining two wishes, and to never use Gin as what many see her as: A source of profit.
Whilst on their travels, they met an odd man named Irvyn, and accepted him like a brother. Now, the three have come here.
