Irvyn is a rather odd individual in that he is socially awkward and naive, despite his intellectual superiority to almost any individual he has come to meet on his travels. He has spent nearly his entire life around one person, a girl that he never even interacted with, and so it isn't all that surprising that when it comes to conversation, he isn't all that adept. He is a listener rather than a talker, a person that someone else can rely on to help bear the weight of their problems. Perhaps it is because he spend so long unwillingly listening to the thoughts poured onto the pages of his beloved's diary in her teen years, that he has learnt how to show empathy and consideration. He nods at all the right times, and speaks when necessary.
He is quite humorous in his lack of social skills, often having to follow suit from his two companions (hopefully Ari rather than Gin...), and finding himself stumbling over his mannerisms in a way that can only be described as endearing. This being said, despite his lack of smooth lines and suave words, he has picked up a fair few admirers through his travels thanks to his gentlemanly nature. His posture breathes a confidence that he himself is unaware he possesses, and through random, unintentionally swoony acts of heroism, he has incidentally sent a number of women into daydreams of a mysterious man coming to their aid, a story straight out of a cheesy romance novel.
He is very protective, and will jump to anyone's aid if they so need it, and he has a number of immovable values, ranging from dinner manners to how to treat a lady.
He is kind, and when in his comfort zone, isn't unlikely to spout a bit of dry humor or sarcasm, typically directed towards Gin, a girl that he shares an extremely close, banter-filled relationship with.

Every human on the planet has an unseen companion. An angel. An angel that watches over them, and is dedicated to their life, however seemingly insignificant it may be. These angels come into existence from their human's first breath, conjured in an unseen utopia above, immediately taking on adult form as to watch their human, and, more importantly, keep their Time.
You see, these angels are not guardians.
When a human takes their first breath, two things are formed. An angel, and a pocketwatch. The pocket watch's hands move with the person's life, slowly turning as to reach twelve, the final hour, at the end of a person's life. It is an angel's job to wield this time piece, ensure that the hand continues moving as usual, and collect the person's soul after their life has ended.
Irvyn's human was a young woman named Sophia Chaplin, a bright, freckle-faced maiden with a gap between her teeth and scorching red hair. Irvyn silently watched over her as she grew up. He witnessed her torment at the hands of school bullies, her sorrow at the death of her mother, her happiness upon being accepted into Harvard. What began as the typical blankness that all angels are expected to have - emotionless, with only duty on one's mind - changed. For whatever reason, Irvyn found that what should have been grey was tinted rose, and where his expressions should have been somber and unsmiling, the corners of his mouth curled upwards, and dimples indented his cheeks. He found himself laughing at Sophia's endearing clumsiness, inspired by her stubborn determination, entranced by her inner strength.
He found himself falling in love with her.
However, he knew that his love was not only unrequited, but also impossible, and so he resigned himself to loving her from a distance, caring for her without ever sharing the soft glances, affectionate smiles and longing gazes that he often found himself bestowing upon her. He was sad, but through her happiness, he allowed himself to feel content in her own success.
But then her clock sped up.
Sophia grew ill, and she didn't get better. A cancer began in her lungs, and she was admitted to hospital. Her fiery locks were replaced by smooth scalp, and her once full face became thin and sallow. Irvyn couldn't bear to see his beloved this way, and as he watched the hand moving towards twelve, he committed the most horrendous of Angel crimes.
He stopped it.
Sophia began to get better, with a startling recovery that could only be magic, and Irvyn was again able to witness her in all her sunniness. But angels are not fools, and it did not take long for them to discover than one of the seven billion humans on the planet was living her life in a single moment, not aging, only smiling.
The aftermath was something that Irvyn wishes he could forget.
Cast from 'Heaven', Irvyn's immortality was taken from him, and Sophia's watch was sped up.
She died three months later.
Irvyn, now practically human, was left to wander the globe, constantly reminded of his woes by the dead, brass stopwatch he is forced to carry at all times. It was not long after his banishment that he met to outcasts like himself, and has since found himself journeying with them, finally arriving in this little, quaint town.
