Kristie Marie Batiste

A sweet girl with a nervous tick

0 · 210 views · located in River's Glen, a sleepy town in northern USA

a character in “As the Pendulum Swings”, as played by Lattia

Description

Name:Kristie Marie Batiste
Age:24
Gender:Female
Occupation:Gas Station Cashier

History: Kristie grew up in River's Glen. Actually, the Batiste clan had lived in River's Glen for the past 3 generations. It was all most of them had ever known. They weren't a prominent family by any means, but at least they weren't back woods country trash. Well, not all of them anyways.

Unfortunately that trend in her family pretty much became the back bone of Kristie's entire life. She wasn't the prettiest or the ugliest. She certainly wasn't the smartest, and Ryan Ordastd pissing into a factory generator and electrocuting himself to death two years ago proved that she was the dumbest. Kristie and her life were just mired in mediocrity.

Until she met Jace that is. Jace was the most amazing boyfriend in the entire world. Sure, he had some annoying habits, and it was hard to support the two of them while he was busy "planning" his ideas. But none of that stuff mattered. He loved her, and that was all Kristie needed.

Personality:Generally very sweet. Obviously has some problems with clouded judgment. She has a bit of a temper and can be rather irrational at times. She also has a bit of an inferiority complex and doesn't handle stress very well.

Weapon: Meat Cleaver. Also has several pencils. Has some food, primarily canned goods. Has three cigarette lighters. Two cartons of Marlboro lights. Several strings of firecrackers. Small backpack she carries it all in.

The Last Six Days:

Day 1: It was just another boring night at the 7-11 on the corner of Pine and 23rd. Kristie really hated that job. She hated the hours. She hated the druggies and assholes. She hated how busy it always was. She hated her slimy boss that always seemed to be staring at her out of the corner of his eyes.

But that all changed when a bloody man shambled in and took a bite out of the last person in line. It had been so surreal. People panicked, screamed, ran wildly about. One guy in the line picked up a metal display and started beating the bloody man, who had fallen on his victim. Hell, one guy pulled a knife and had eyed Kristie, as if he was deciding whether robbing the store now would be a good idea. In the end he just grabbed some things and left.

Kristie didn't really remember much of that night. She remembered making it home. She remembered crying a lot... And she remembered hoping that this would all be a dream.

Day 2: Kristie remembered falling asleep to the sounds of screams and sirens and gunshots.

She remembered she woke up to the sound of banging on her door. Jace had shown up. She hadn't asked where he'd been. She hadn't cared. All that had mattered was that he was home.

Then he talked about being attacked and bitten. He'd started running a fever and had fallen asleep on the couch. Kristie had cried uncontrollably in the bathroom after that. She wasn't stupid. She'd seen zombie movies. She figured she knew enough to know what was happening.

She remembered looking in the mirror. Remembered her dirty blonde hair tangled about her head. She remembered her legs shaking, trying to keep herself together. Most of all she remembered her puffy red eyes and the pain that seemed so vibrant in them.

She stabbed Jace through the eye with a pencil while he slept. She figured it was the nicest thing to do, all things considering. She wasn't sure what was going on, but she was sure she wasn't about to be the stupid bimbo from some horror flick.

She figured she shouldn't stay there. They didn't really have food, and she wasn't sure if he'd eventually get back up. She packed what she could and grabbed a big meat cleaver from the kitchen. She wasn't even sure why they had one, but she thought it might come in handy. It at least made her feel safer than a pencil, but she brought a package of those just in case. They'd already proven they could at least finish a job.

She remembered looking in the mirror next to the door before she left. She remembered there didn't seem to be any pain in her eyes anymore. She must have had a really bad headache though; cause she remembered as she was staring back at herself the left side of her face would twitch violently.

Day 3-6: Kristie had tried to lay low. Food always seemed to force to move to another location though. The things weren't very smart... But once they came after you they didn't stop. You just had to take care of them. She needed something secure. But she was too scared to go anywhere that could be crowded. She'd ended up in a little apartment on 23rd a few blocks down from where she'd used to work.

That life seemed so long ago.

So begins...
