Mr. Smith's smile some how grows wider. He sits in the second row of pews and glances back at Checker. He waves and returns his focus to the Reverend. "Nice night. How are you folks?"

"Ah, your welcome to stay as long as you like. But none can own a house of God, anyone can call this place home, but none can claim it as theirs."

He chuckles and stands. "So, Father. I must ask. Are you a Killer or a dier?" His right hand moves out of sight behind his back. "I'd like to move on to some harder prey if you will make this quick."

Checker nodded to the Reverend, wondering when he started working in the Church, and whether he was a Civilian or a Killer. If he was a Civilian, he wondered if he knew they were Killers. According to ancient tradition, they should be at each other’s throats right now. He didn’t care to uphold that law right now, as he was here for only one purpose, and besides, the Reverend did seem a little...off. He didn’t like the tall guy’s arrogance, especially in this place. He smirked and continued down the center aisle, sitting down on the far end of the pews, in the front.
---------------------------------------------------------------

Upon hearing the tall man's words, Checker cautiously stood up and turned. He now knew for sure that the tall guy was a Killer, and although he too wanted to know whether or not the Reverend was a Killer too, he did not want the him to be hurt. He was right in saying that the house of God belonged to no one but God, and now it seemed that the tall man was going to kill him. Checker did not agree with the direction this was going.
He spoke calmly. "You." Nodding in the direction of the tall man, he continued, "Don't hurt him. He was nice enough to accept us here and you probably know how few other places will let people like us in." Although he spoke peaceably, his eyes were scanning the man, preparing for a fight if the need came. The man had his hand behind his back, and although Checker hadn't seen any weapons there earlier, that didn't mean crap in Asheville.

Reverend smiles happly at Checker. "Thank you you want is your name my child." His smile seem as though he was told the best knew as he calm and politely ask "Why would people like you be denied entrance to anywhere?" He places gentle behind his back standing up straight with an almost ignorant smile as though he didn't even really notice he was just threatened or didn't care.

Checker looked from the tall guy to the Reverend and back.
"My name is Checker." He said. He tilted his head. "I don't think myself particularly special either, but at least I know my bounds." He spoke the last part with a low voice. He watched as the man played with a pistol that he had grabbed seemingly out of nowhere. "And you, what's your name?" He gestured to the tall man. He asked the Reverend the same question. He paused. "Also, Reverend, are you a Civilian?"

"My name is Mr. Smith. I guess I won't need this." He stops spinning the pistol and drops it behind the pew he is sitting on. It clatters on the floor.

Mr. Smith eyes them both as he hums lowly to himself, ignoring the Reverend's question. The tune he hums is creepy and unsettling.

Checker eyed Mr. Miles. Wasn't this a Protestant Church? He shrugged. "I don't believe I have any sins that I haven't already confessed, Mr. Miles. And, personally, I don't think I need to sit inside a box for my sins to be heard. I'm also a bit claustrophobic."
He leaned back on the pew, crossing his arms. "But thank you. I'm here for a tradition that I uphold every month. It's very parental." He smirked.

Mr. Smith stands and sighs. "Well this has been fun, but I must leave." He turns and heads for the door, singing to himself. "I could save your life, but I'd rather watch you die. All the people say I'm crazy, but I'm just..." The door swings shut behind him, cutting him off.

Checker tilted his head slightly. "Like I said, I don't have any sins that I can't confess myself. But thanks for the offer, Reverend. “If you don’t mind, I think I’ll stay here a little longer. I need to finish my...ritual.” He smiled at the word. “Goodnight, Reverend.” He watched the Reverend carefully. There was something off about him, something he couldn’t quite place.

"Ritual, you say for what if i may ask." He says cheerful as he wraps a rosary around his hand and placing it to his heart. "I might be able to help I have performed a few... rituals (he says it slowly soft tone almost erie when put against normal happy tone) in my day"

Checker put his hands in his pockets. He had never shared his ritual with anyone else before. "I don't think you'd approve of it, Reverend. It involves me, a Killer, praying to my Father. And I'm not sure why, but with your religion, Catholicism, I need someone to speak to my own Father for me."
He sighed and straightened. "I'm a Protestant. I think I can speak to my Father without anyone intervening. If you're going to stay and pray, you'll be praying with me, not for me." His face became a bit saddened, and he looked down at his feet. "Reverend."

Checker remained looking at the ground. "It's my dad. Not my spiritual one, but my earthly one. He was killed about a year and a half ago. I come here every month, to remember him, and to ask for forgiveness."
His hands clenched, and then relaxed. "But I'm going to stop coming. It solves nothing. There's no sense praying for his soul either. Where he is now is where he's staying."
He looked back up at the Reverend. "Thank you, Reverend, but I have to go."
Checker turned and left, his footsteps echoing quietly in the church.

Charlie held the small cross of his necklace in his boney hand. The cross was usually hidden beneath the large black long-sleeved shirt he wore today. But when he was in church he didn't keep it hidden, instead he held onto it tightly as if it would protect him from any judgement he may receive. Was it odd to feel more uneasy walking into a church? Perhaps it was his own sins that made him feel such discomfort walking onto holy ground.
Charlie didn't expect to find many people in the church today but was surprised to find someone exiting the church just as he was about to enter. He averted his eyes quickly. Not usually one to feel insecure but at the church he was out of his comfort zone despite coming nearly every day to repent.
