"I HATE MATH!" Corina exclaimed.
Corina and Amaterasu were sitting around their usual spot on the school roof for lunch after their tests. One Math test, the other History. Corina had eventually watched the numbers twirl in her mind, feeling too agitated to do anything and ended up guessing most of the end of the test. History was great though.
"You're just exaggerating!" Amaterasu laughed. "If you studied, you wouldn't hate math so much."
"Aw, come on! I try but I'm just not as good as you." Corina sighed and looked around the campus.
The reason they picked the roof as a regular lunch spot was that it was possible to watch most of the school around them and that was perfect for them. They both worked for the school paper and loved having a good lead. Sure, some students went out for lunch but the ones who stayed could easily be doing something of notice. Plus, the breeze up there was wonderful.

Today seemed to be one of those days where they'd just have to write about exam week and some cultural event in town. It was just too calm for something interesting to be going on.
"Seems like nothing's going on" Amaterasu said thoughtfully as she glanced through her binoculars for a look around.
"Yeah, let's go outside for a walk, there must be something right??" Corina replied.
They walked around campus for a second-check and went for the candy store.
Just as they turned the corner for the sweets shop, they found it right there.
A student was apparently being robbed by two teenagers that should be in school themselves when a senior stepped in and started confronting them.
"Leave him alone or you're in trouble" The senior, who Corina had seen a few times in school, said in a low harsh voice.
Corina automatically started taking pictures and startled the bandits.
"And who do you-- hey! Stop taking pictures girly, well I'll show you"
Just as one advanced against her, the senior student skillfully blocked him and shoved him over. Just as the other let the boy go and advanced toward the obviously strong defender, the younger student ran off to tell the shop owner.
Corina barely could do anything but keep taking pictures as she was paralyzed in her shock and Amaterasu had run off to call the police.
Before the bandit could even think, he was already thrown to the ground. He looked to his partner as his companion yelled:
"Hey!! Where are the other two kids?!"
The candy shop door opened and they both scurried off quickly. It had all happened so fast that Corina couldn't believe it had just happened at all. Almost no detail whatsoever could be noticed individually. The cops arrived with Amaterasu and chased after the two that could barely be seen as they ran as fast as they could.
"Are you okay?" The senior asked Corina as she still felt like the thief was about to attack her.
"Oh yes! Sorry! I guess I should be asking you!! Are you okay?!"
"I'm fine, those cowards couldn't even scratch someone their own size, heh" he said arrogantly looking at the direction they fled.
"I'm Corina and this is Amaterasu, we are from the Ash Express and you were just a hero!! Can we interview you?"
"My name is Hideyoshi and I'm afraid I don't have the time, shouldn't you be in class?"
Both girls shrieked as they looked at the time.

The two girls dashed as fast as they could, but they were still nearly 20 minutes lates back from lunch.
"And where were you two?" Their teacher, Mr. Nakata asked. "You should take more care next time. Poor time keeping doesn't make a very good impression. What if this was your career and I was your boss? I wouldn't be happy if you were late for work." He explained, sternly. "If you two had been here earlier, you would have heard that we have a new student." Mr. Nakata added, pointing a chair with an unfamiliar face sitting in it. "This is Rose. She's just moved here."
Rose was pale with light pink hair and blue eyes. She didn't say anything, but just looked awkwardly at Corina and Amaterasu, acknowledging them. "Now did everyone complete their Chemistry homework like asked?"

Corina was at the Ash Express editing with her colleagues Amaterasu, Chidori and Hinata.
Hinata and Chidori had been running around themselves and in the end. Another week edition full of interesting stories about school and their students was taking place.
"Has anyone talked to the new student yet?" Corina asked as she finished touching up her pictures.
"No, she seems kind of shy, where do you think she's from?" Amaterasu who happened to, as a journalist should, like keeping track of news around the school. "Tomorrow, we might get a chance to talk to her though, today was way too busy." She completed.
Just before they started cleaning up, they took turns reading the articles one by one as the Ash Express Ritual.
As Corina advanced pages, scan-reading, she shivered when she reached page 13, an article on a lost dog at the request of a student, the picture was the student himself with a dog in front of Ash Lake. It was just a quick-impression but for just a second. She could swear... The lake was blood red.
After that, her day was as usual, go home, do homework, say goodnight to mother, bed. Yet in her dreams... she saw the lake red as blood again and a shadowy night.

(I'm so so sorry, I had a surprise business trip and couldn't reply, I promise it won't happen again, at least unwarned)

Corina's nightmares were strange. The lake was always seen as a mysterious place, but never a place of danger. But still she couldn't get the image of the blood red lake from her mind. The dream was always the same. It was always too quiet. A horrible eery dream silence that you only usually get in nightmares. It always felt like something was about to go wrong, though Corina was never sure what in the dreams. It was always sunset time too, and the sky was dark red like the lake. Maybe that's why the lake looked red. Maybe it was the reflection of the red sky. But it seemed more sinsiter than that tonight. But this is where the dream got interesting. In the dream, Corina was always looking across the lake at the arch. There would be a figure there. It was too dark to make anything out about them, especially since they were wearing dark clothes. But Corina got a bad vibe from them. She'd had this dream a few times tonight, and when she awoke this time she was in a cold sweat.

Corina looked around the room, still a little dazed from the spooky series of dreams. There was a strange presence. It felt like there was someone in the room. Not an intruder this time. It didn't feel as negative as in the dream. This felt more like being watched over. As if a higher power were observing her. Maybe it was just her mind playing tricks, as it soon subsided after about half a minute. She hoped she wouldn't be having the nightmare again.
