a character in “Assassin Family”, as played by FirestormEmbrace

Name: Night "Silent Killer"

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Height: 6'2'' (187.96cm)

Weight: 150lbs (68kg)

Personality: A cold, silent man by nature, Night doesn't particularly care for the company of other people. Night is a firm believer in the phrase, 'speak only when spoken to' and can go days without saying a single word. In fact, if he had it his way, Night would make it a law in the Fire Country that each citizen was only permitted 5 sentences a day. Having the training of a traditional samurai, Night is ruthless, silent, deadly accurate and brave. He was also graced with devilishly handsome features, and almost always wears a face-mask. Night does however, have a side other than the usual indifferent bastard that he usually is. When in the presence of his friends, he can be witty, sarcastic, perverted and generous. But his guard is always up. Showing weakness for only one other person besides himself, Night would kill anything and anyone to ensure the safety of his small, eccentric companion, Avie.

Role: The Killer

Reason for joining: Orphaned at an early age, Night was on his own for most of his teenage years. As his need for money became greater, the number of assassins springing up also skyrocketed. Reluctantly, he and his companion, Avie, joined NINE as 2 of the original members.

Biography: When he was a small boy, Night's parents both died by a fast-spreading sickness, mostly associated with those that traveled by sea often. As his parents professions were full-fledged pirates, this came as no shock to the young Night, who had to grow up much faster that other children his age. It was expected of Night to take his parents place on the ship, but Night had other ideas. When he turned 11, Night left the sea for good and apprenticed under a retired samurai warrior, who eventually took Night in as a son and disciple.

When the old man died, Night had no where to go, deciding to not be a burden on the old samurai's family. By the time he was 15, Night had surpassed men half his age; his blade was his brush, and he was a renowned artist. In no time at all, he had earned the title, "Silent Killer" and was the number one assassin in all of the Fire Country. Of course, this had him traveling almost constantly, and there was no time for trivial matters like friends or actual housing. His perspective changed however, when he was confronted after a battle by a small girl. She had begged, offering her life and swearing to serve him and only him for the rest of time; as long as Night took her in. Feeling pity for the girl (the first time he felt pity for anyone) he agreed, and after a year of traveling together, Night knew he needed to settle into a permanent home for her, and soon NINE was formed.

Relationships: Completely independent, Avie being the only exception.

Likes: Night isn't particularly fond of anything, but he does enjoy a hot bath every once in a while, clean blades and peace and quiet.

Dislikes: Night feels pretty neutral about most everything, but the few things he cant tolerate are people threatening other NINE members, yelling, and cats.

Quirks: Now that he's settled into a permanent home, Night, ironically, passes out as soon as the sun sets unless there's an important assignment. He believes that nights are for sleeping, and is up at the crack of dawn every morning. He trains vigorously every morning, without fail, and keeps in tip-top shape.

Other: Night has no need for any weapons other than his katana, which he keeps strapped to his back at all times, other than when he's sleeping. Even a trip to the market warrants him bringing his sword.

So begins...

Night walked the dirt streets of Arentia aimlessly, taiyaki in hand. For the first time in months -since NINE had taken up residency in the ever-popular tourist village- the white-haired assassin decided to treat himself to his ultimate, fish-shaped, guilty pleasure. Now, with his face mask pulled down to his chin, he sunk his teeth into the tender flesh of the sweet cake, waving a hand behind him to the owner of the treat vendor; one of the many lining the busy street.

It wasn't as if Leader-sama -not that Night would ever use that title seriously behind closed doors, especially when the man he was addressing it to was Lithium, of all people- forbid leaving their apartment to join the often raging festivities of the bustling village; it's just that Night didn't want to. He knew that the members of NINE weren't particularly honored guests in the large heart of the Fire Country, and understandably.
He and his family members had been causing trouble for quite sometime before the feudal lords offer, earning them an exaggerated -though sometimes deserved- reputation.

Many citizens of Arentia gave him a weary look as he strolled along, barely acknowledging them as he passed. However, he did take the time to swallow the remainder of taiyaki he had in his mouth, while wrapping the half-devoured treat in his hands with the crisp wax-paper it had been served on, and pull his mask back up, his crimson eyes rolling to the clear sky out of habit. Night, and the other members of NINE, had been living in Arentia for months now. Why were there still stares and whispers directed towards them? The slender male let out a silent sigh before retreating into one of the shadowed allies of the village.

There, he made his way across town; darting in between buildings with the agility and stealth he had picked up in his many years as an assassin. However, his journey homeward bound was cut short when one of the cities few guards stepped in front of his path, slowing the light-haired assassin down from an easy sprint to a complete stop as his bright eyes took in the scene before him. Blood. The scarlet puddles pooled around large bodies and he did a quick head count. Five.
"Night-san!" The guard gave a small bow out of respect, but when he straightened, his face was all business.
Night had to admit that for a city guard, who were usually wetting themselves at the sight of any of the NINE members, (even little Avie) this one had balls.
"Do you happen to know anything about this?" The arm of the guard shot out to the massacre in front of them, and he inclined his head. "While these men have been recognized as assassins from Tentia, and Lord Hashi didn't specify that you needed to clean up after yourselves, we'd appreciate if you and your friends didn't leave any evidence for children of the village to find."

"May I?" Night was obviously speaking of inspecting the slaughtered bodies and he indicated that with a nod of his head. Night stepped past the man without waiting for an answer, and bent forward slightly when he reached the first body. 'Pretty precise slashes...' he thought, licking his dry lips behind his face cloth. He rose, and gave curt nods to the other guards, who, unlike the guard from before, were obviously putting on brave faces at the sight of him. "Lina..." he grumbled under his breath.
He turned back to the original guard, taiyaki still in hand, and shook his head, his feathered headpiece following his heads movements. He frowned from behind his face-mask. "I'm afraid I don't know of any killings done by my family members within the past few days. However, I will speak to them and have them report to your lord, if it hasn't been done so already."

Night made a beeline for home as soon as he stepped out of the alley, quickly jumping onto the roof of a small tea house. He hopped roof-to-roof for the remainder of the journey, gracefully landing onto the ground when he had a clear view of their apartment building.
He made no attempt to hide his irate footsteps as he charged up the stairs to their apartment. When he reached the familiar door of the NINE family residence, he twisted the doorknob and stepped inside, roughly slamming the door behind him. As he passed the large couch, he tossed his taiyaki onto the cushion, not caring who finished it.

He quickly crossed the living area to the hallway, where a cluster of bedrooms could be found. Seeing that the door to the girls' room was already cracked open, he kicked it open the rest of the way, crossing his arms. It didn't occur to him that the attractive female could very well not be home. All that mattered at that moment, was that the turquoise-haired female knew how upset he was with her.
"Lina, if you were the one who slaughtered those men in the alley last night, I'd like you to know that it was a poorly done job, and Lithium will not be please to find out that you did not see it through to the end. That includes clean up."

His hands freezing over the keyboard of his laptop, he solemnly researched about assassinations for a past time, sucking in all the information he could contain-that is-until there was the annoyance of slamming doors and yelling. The male's temples pulsed in aggravation as he was rudely interrupted from his work, and now, he couldn't concentrate due to a faint headache beginning to blossom in his forehead. "Do they expect me to get anything done with this much disruption and noise?"

Groaning in dislike, he delicately put his neatly gloved hands on his computer desk and rose from his office chair, pushing it back and allowing a passage to form so he could get through. Koios's boots clacked against the hard floor, hands behind his back with his eyes closed in concentration. Following the loud footsteps and the rising voices, he made his way down a curving hallway and gradually came up behind Night, sighing.

"Honestly, could you be a bit more quieter? Do you expect me to accomplish anything with all the interrupti-" The male stopped mid-sentence as he opened his eyes, shaking his head slowly afterwards. "My, my, my. Night dear, what a pervert you are. What a shame, and here I thought you weren't."

Koios slyly smirked, twirling a lock of his brown hair in thought. "So, another kill, hm? Not cleaned up, you say? Poorly done? This should be an exception, though. Her work is rather amazing, if I may say so myself, as she usually kills with such grace."

Crossing his arms, rested his knuckles against his chin, his fingers snaking over his lips. "Well, we should give her some privacy, do not you think? Let the woman get dressed first before you start interrogating her."

Turning his back, he made his way towards the living room and lounged on the couch, his boot-covered feet propped on top the armrest, that is until he heard a couple of mews from a room.

Raising an eyebrow, he must have not heard his dorm mate come bustling in. Curiosity came over him and he made way to the room, propping his glasses neatly onto the bridge of his nose and crouched down.

"Simpletons deciding to injure them? Typical rambunctious teenagers. What a shame, they are very unique creatures. Felines. Welcome back, though."

Lina sighed slightly annoyed as Koi came in also, bantering about them being to loud.

Her work is rather amazing, if I may say so myself, as she usually kills with such grace." Lina blushed slightly and puffed out her cheeks. S-stupid men and there-

Crossing his arms, rested his knuckles against his chin, his fingers snaking over his lips. "Well, we should give her some privacy, do not you think? Let the woman get dressed first before you start interrogating her." As he left, Lina nodded her head firmly before turning to stare at Night.

"Well.....are you going to go or is there something else you aquire of me...?" She asked, tapping her foot against the floor, impatiently. Ok, she seriously was getting annoyed of having to keep her arms wrapped around her chest. She heard a small mew from the other room, as her face lit with excitement. She almost ran out there to look but remembered that she was half naked. She growled quietly and then went up to her doorway.

"I will talk to you in a minute, Night."

And with that she shut the door.

Lina quickly changed out of her clothes and got into a towel, grabbing a pair of shorts and a short tank top. She nonchalantly walked out of her room and walked to the bathroom, to take a shower.

Night sighed. It just wasn't his day. First, he had been reprimanded by a female when he was only trying to remind her of her duties as an assassin; then the intelligent Koios caught him looking like a pervert. And even though he knew the dark haired boy was only poking fun at the situation, it still irked him because everything irked the white haired killer.

Night was forced out of his inner musings by Lithium's deep voice. "Where's Avie? Is she home? You know she's not allowed to go out by herself." Night whipped his head to the black haired man, momentarily forgetting about Lina and her inability to clean up, looking into Lithium's eyes with a panicked expression. "Avie's in town? By herself?"
The usually impassive assassin let out a feminine, shrill, uncharacteristic shriek of horror. "How could my little princess leave without telling me!"

Night dashed down the hall, leaving the respected Leader in front of his bedroom. He stopped to poke his head in the bathroom and his own bedroom that he shared with the pinkette, before hurrying to Koios and Sva's room. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw the small girl on the bed. "Avie! There you are!" He crossed the room, nodding at Koios -even though he was still annoyed by the geniuses previous comment- before stopping in front of Avie.

He was relieved that he found her there. The thought of her all alone in crime-ridden Arentia (as most festival towns were crime-ridden) made his stomach flip in an unfamiliar way. If he ever lost her he...he didn't know what he would do. While he had to unwillingly admit that he did care for the other members of his family, he'd been infatuated and overly protective of the 16 year old since she first came into his company. She'd been the only female to get under his skin and into his heart and she did it in only a matter of days. "Lith and I already discussed this with you, remember? You're not allowed to leave the apartment without one of us with you!"

Koios gently scratched the head of the small kitten, watching it bounce off after his close friend Sva. He still remembered that day like it was tomorrow, seeing the friendly giant distraught, a bit of blood here and there, he couldn't help but want to help her. It was his nature, and after all, she seemed like the perfect one to fill that open role.

Even though he wouldn't show it, he would worry about her, just how Night worries about Avie. What if she ends up getting lost? Hurt, even? Someone ends up kidnapping her? Which, in all honesty, was one thing he doubted, but it could always be a possibility. You never know in this world, everything is unpredictable.

Running a hand through his neatly slicked chestnut brown hair, he afterwards fixed his cravat and made a "kiss face" to the army of kittens as they exited the room. Though, afterwards, his poker face was plastered back on, a split second of shown ridiculous emotion. That is, when he heard the most feminine man scream he's ever heard. Again, I say, unpredictable.

Following with a hilarious stream of words mentioning a princess, and the noticeable loud footsteps of accelerated speed, Koios tried to hold back hearty laughter and a sarcastic comment. A smile beginning to rise to his face, more like a smirk, he sat in one of the office chairs next to his bed, crossed his legs, and propped them up against a table, pushing up his glasses with one hand while the other was occupied by tapping the armrest of the chair.

The 16 year old sighed dramatically, gradually shaking his head. "Night dear, I must ask since you are beginning to worry me. One, watching a woman undress, and now two, suddenly shrieking like a worried mother? Are you trying to learn how to become a female? If so, I wish you good luck my friend. By the way, I don't think Avie ever left. She was sitting on the couch, it's just I paid no mind, so please, stop yelling. Really, it's starting to agitate me, but I must admit it was hilarious. It's around these times that I wish I had my video cam on."

Koios shook his head, standing, hands dropping to sides. "I'm think I'm going to have some tea or whatnot. I'm a bit thirsty from talking so much." The male brushed past Night, and as he gait past, he poked at his cheek. "A tip on turning into a girl: I find most of them wearing make up. I suggest using Lina's, I believe she might have some."

Chuckling, he exited the room though left the door open, heading to the kitchen where his close friend was at. "Hello Sva dear. Having fun?" He asked, as he filled a large bowl with an ideal amount of purified water; Koios was rather particular with water. He hated tap water, because of all the germs that could possibly be in it, and so, he would get a couple of gallons of purified water, or else, he was not happy, and an unhappy Koios is bad. He even put a sign above each sink in the whole apartment, and it said "DO NOT DRINK TAP, OR CONSEQUENCES WILL BE ARRANGED. -Love, Koios." because of his paranoia.

Setting the clean, water filled bowl down onto the floor so the kittens could drink, he smiled briefly at Sva before heading towards the stove to prepare tea, and most likely Peppermint tea, his favorite kind aside from Earl Grey. Fixing up the tea, turning the stove on and boiling hot water, after a couple of minutes it was done and he poured the water into his favorite mug that had "KISS THE GENIUS" printed all over it. Smart, right?

Koios sipped his tea and exited the kitchen, boots clacking against the hard surface of the tiled living room, and lounged on the couch, setting the cup on a stout table and pulling out a small, petite laptop that probably didn't cost much, and typed away, looking up different recent killings, criminals, and kidnappings out of simple curiosity, and what to be wary of; after all, Koios was a precautionary person, thinking ahead of the game in case they did come in contact with one of the problems.

Svajonė waved at Leader-sama as he talked to Night. She liked the two of them, they were funny but not like Koios. No one had cared about her while she was on the streets. He had brought her here, to her new family. She'd always be in his debt, making sure he wasn't hurt, which was rare, he didn't go on missions often. But it was the thought that counts.

When Night screamed, the kittens buried themselves in her long hair, hiding from what had scared them. But Sva was frozen stiff. The scream sounded like her mother's. During her attack. Hands shaking, she tried to go back to making some tuna sandwiches, with little success. She took a few deep breaths to calm her nerves. Mavolio nuzzled her cheek before flying over to Leader-sama, her second favorite perch.

After she was calm, she heard Koios fix his tea beside her. She grinned when he smiled at her. Every one of Koi's smiles were special. They were rare and they made her day. She bit into her sandwich as he left. The kittens where still drinking so she merely kept eating.

Then when she heard small mewls and looked down at the kittens, who were pawing at her bootless legs. Counting them, she had six little kittens. One for each member. Her sandwich now gone, she grabbed the largest one, a brown boy with a gold stripe over his left eye. She set him on her head. "This is Lina's..." She scooped up two more, both a creamy grey but one was much furrier. Both seemed reluctant to each the other. "Night and Avie's..." She looked at the fluffy red brown one that was strutting around. "Here's Leader-sama's..." Then at the blue black one who was sitting by her feet, almost like a guard. "He's like Koi..." And the little white runt by his side. "And mine..."

Nodding at the Kitten List, she led them to a large chair and set them all in it before sitting on the floor beside it, petting Koi's as he didn't seem to want to go too far from the white one on her head. "Look Koios... This one's like you... He's so protective of the little white one..." She giggled softly, the kitten looking at his appointed member with curious eyes. They were very alike.

Avie scoffed.

Of course Night and Leader-sama had discussed it with her. Like...three hundred times already. "Night, I know. Stop treating me like a little kid." With a pout, Avie crossed her arms, huffing. It didn't particularly bother her that she wasn't allowed to go out alone. She didn't like being alone anyway.
Plus, the crime rates in Arentia were pretty scary. Sometimes Avie wondered if the guards of the tourist town did anything else besides guard. It seemed that the only time that the crime rates went down was directly after NINE had settled into its crowded streets. They remained at a remotely low level, but still. It was nice to know that if the small pinkette got into any trouble, she'd have either the most influential assassin in the business, or one of the deadliest killers to back her up.

Koios made her laugh; he always did. Especially when his jokes were at Night's expense. Avie would never know why, but seeing the usually stoic man riled up and embarrassed amused her. Especially because he'd never admit that he was embarrassed, and it wasn't too obvious to tell with the face-mask covering his face. However, Avie could always tell he was embarrassed by the pretty red blush that would spread from under his shirt to his uncovered shoulders. Then Avie knew he was blushing.

Avie hummed in satisfaction upon seeing the red tint in Night's skin at Koios' words. "Come come, Night. I have an extra bra or two you could wear." With a skinny, delicate finger Avie poked Night's prominent pectoral muscles. "However, you're getting so fat, your boobs are becoming bigger than mine."

Avie rose from the bed, taking the large hand of her companion and waltzing out of the room with the white-haired assassin stumbling behind her. A swift push into their shared bedroom was all it took for the usually poised assassin to fumble inside, tripping over whatever clothes had been left on the bed since the morning. "Come on, silly, protective idiot. We're taking a nap."
