Setting
Kieran nodded at Aetrius' words ans looked to Josephine as she a sked if anyone had any questions, "I will do my best, Lady Josephine. And I will be the onw to stay with Kyero when all is done. I trust Aetrius to go with you, she'll be more help than I would." Kieran said as she too sat down and nodded.
He decided to not ask it and prepare for both scenarios accordingly, listening to Kieran volunteering to stay with Kyero. āI suppose thatās fair. The better muscle the escort is, the better.ā he agreed with Kieranās statement. As long as that part of the Plan didnāt hit any snags He had a feeling Mr. Miils was about to have a career cut short.
āWell, letās not jinx anything LonĆ”n.ā He thought, āLast time you thought good things will happen there was a Knife in your shoulder.ā
āMy sincerest thanks to you all.ā She said quietly.
She folded her hands in her lap.
āTomorrow I will guide you all to the operation location. We have several of my allies already informed and have agreed to help. So if you see others around us, please do not be alarmed. They are allies, and you can trust them.ā
She sighed softly.
āWell everyone, I bid you all good night. We should all get to sleep soon. The sooner we wake, the better.ā
As Josephine left the room, Linde sighed and looked over towards Aetrius. And she noticed Aetrius was looking at and shaking her hand a little.
āAetri? Is your hand all right?ā She asked, walking over and looking around her arm to take a better look.
"I-I'm fine, Linde. It's nothing. Honest." she said calmyly, trying to casually move her hand out of sight, hopefully making Linde pay no further mind to it.
āAetri.ā She said sternly, grabbing her elbow to stop her moving the hand away.
āLet me see.ā
She gently pulled her arm out and... Her face slackened and lost all sense of emotion. Even with the glove on she could see how swollen the hand and wrist had become. Her eyes slid over to Aetri's and, having lost all the reflection of the light, looked almost sinister.
ā... How long have you been hiding this from me?ā She asked in a dark tone.
She slowly pulled the glove off, keeping her eyes on Aetrius the entire time until the glove slipped off allowing her to see the full extent of the swelling and infection setting in.
... She was silent for a long time as she stared at the wound taking it all in. Jagged, yet at the same time clean slices. Some kind of edged surface, but not a dagger or a sword. Approximately one week old given the level of swelling and the signs of infection that were beginning to set in. As well the wound was healing poorly to begin with.
Linde took in a deep breath and let it out on a hiss through her teeth before looking at Aetri.
"Come. Let's get you fixed up in the bedroom." She said softly, taking Aetri's other hand gently in her own and beginning to guide her there.
As Linde pulled her along Aetrius she looked down and away from the look on Linde's face. As Linde prepared her tools, Aetrius felt her face flush white. She awkwardly sat there on the bed with her legs crossed and visibly uncomfortable. She knew the best and only way to try and calm Linde down was to tell the truth and so she would. Aetrius took a deep breath and sighed, "The day I came back with Rose is when it happened...I never had the time to properly tend to it, as we wer constantly on the move or were planning... I'm sorry, Linde. I know I should have told you, and I didn't...I-I'm sorry.." she stutterd out as she looked up at Linde and looked back down after her brief glance up at Linde.
When she finished washing her hands she put on some new gloves and sat down beside Aetrius to begin working.
"Hold still, please. This will hurt a little." She said softly.
She pulled up with a scalpel blade and carefully created an incision in the wound at the top side of the hand between the thumb and index fingers, taking care not to strike any veins. And immediately the incision began leaking puss as Linde slowly massaged the wound to coax the buildup out one rub at a time.
"This could have been worse, but you let it go for too long. All of the hours we spent resting and sleeping was time I could have used to tend this wound Aetrius." She said quietly.
She continued massaging the wound to coax the puss and excess buildup of blood and other fluids out of the incision as it dripped to the floor onto a small mat she'd set up before hand.
"You acknowledged you should have told me, and I'm grateful for that. But... Why didn't you tell me? Really?" She asked softly, tears beginning to well in her eyes.
"You had so much to focus on at the time...Didn't want to over burden you or make you morw concerned for me than you normally are...I'm sorry, honestly...I'm sorry..." she said softly as she looked back up at Linde, and saw the tears in her eyes, and with her left hand she gently wiped the slowly building up tears away.
"You're always reckless. Eager to jump ahead without a thought for yourself. While I admire and love that about you, at the same time it..."
Her first tear fell despite Aetri's attempts to stop it.
"That's more a source for pain and worry than tending to your wounds could ever be." She whispered, her voice hitching on a sniffle.
"At least... At least like this I can be sure you're getting treated. But if you hide it from me I can't-"
She started sobbing and sniffling, gasping for breath between each. She stopped massaging Aetri's wounded had and rested it on her knee as she hunched forward and cried. Her tears falling between her legs and to the floor in soft little pitter patter droplets.
"Don't hide it again, Aetrius... Promise me... Never again."
She tried using her thumbs to pitifully massage her wounded hand, continuing her duty, but with little to no energy to speak of as her shoulders hopped up and down with each sob.
Aetrius walked over to the fire place and lit it, making sure it was stoked properly and was heating up the room enough. She pulled out a knife and sat down infront of the fire, and with her left hand she held the knife over the fire until it began to heat up enough and began to glow a light orange and white, once it was enough she brought the knife to the infected hqnd and prwssed it against the now raw and freshly cut wound. A groan came from her lips as she felt the pain shoot through the inner parts of her hands as the wound began to cortarize. This one something she was all but too used of hving to do, and once she was sure it was done, she put the knife down and stood back up, and got some of the gel Linde had always used for her and spread it across the freshly closed wound and wrapped it up with clean cloth. Aetrius then dug through her bag of supplies and took out some smelling oils to help with the smel in the room, seeing as how it currently smelf of burnt flesh.
Aetrius looked back at Linde, and outstretched her left hand to Linde and gave her a kind smile, "I...I want to show you something, Linde...If you wish that is.." she said softly as she'd understand if Linde wasn't up for going somewhere with her at the current time.
Taking Aetri's hand, she offered a weak smile.
"Or course." She whispered.
"I never really have told you much about me, have I? I grew up in a small, close knit merchant clan in Saharan. "Borral's Wares" as my father liked to call it. he was a good man, not what you'd expect from someone of his stature and appearene. Mom said we got dad's looks, but her attitude. " Aetrius said with a chuckle yet again. She slowly began to remember moments from her childhood and smiled, "Me and Kieran are half sisters. I never knew who Kieran's mother was. She died in childbirth, and well...Let's just say some people in Saharan aren't very fond of my..kind" Aetrius said as she looked back down and sighed softly.
"You kind?" She whispered, gripping Aetri's hand a bit tighter.
"I see."
She gently squeezed Aetri's hand.
"The circumstances of your birth are beyond your control, my love. I will never judge you, or anyone else, for such a thing."
She chuckled.
"Just look at Kyero. He was born to be sacrificed to the Demon which occupies his body, but by some stroke of luck he survived and became who he is today."
She looked at Aetrius and leaned over to kiss her cheek and wrapped her arm around Aetri's waist to lean against her.
"Don't let the world define you." She whispered.
Aetrius looked back out at the night sky, and silently lifted up a prayer to Heresta. If she really did exist or even bothered listening to someone like her. Thank you for sending me Linde..I...I don't know what I'd do without her... she tought to herself, eopening up her eyes again. She turned back to Linde and gently cupped her cheek with her left hand, and after a few moments of pure silence she leaned forwards and gently kissed Linde, it lasted only a few short moments but for Aetrius it felt like a lifetime. Something about Linde made her feel a certain way, and slowly her amber colored eyes filled with tears. A small smile was on her face as she looked back up at the night sky and softly spoke, "Th-thank you, Linde...For being the first person in the past few years to ever make me feel this way...When I'm with you...I never feel angry...Just, just happy...I don't think anything will ever change that..." Aetrius said with a soft and genuine voice, a blush covering her cheeks as she realized she had just confessed for the first time how Linde made her feel, hopefully she wouldn't laugh at her for it.
"I feel the same, Aetrius." She whispered.
Linde then gently tugged at Aetri's waist again and pulled her into a much longer kiss. And with each passing second, Linde's face grew pinker and pinker. A tiny, hushed moan escaped her lips and her hand on Aetri's waist gripped the fabric of her clothing. She had no intention of so much as twitching, lest it ruin the beautiful moment they were sharing. Aetri could have a sharp tongue, but her lips were so soft and sweet that Linde couldn't help but melt into them.
And so they remained motionless for a long time, lips locked, and entirely enraptured and engrossed in nothing but each other. And as their lips finally *did* part, Linde's smile could make a star go blind as she leaned against Aetrius, tightening her grip on her hand, and resting her head on her shoulder.
"Stay with me, Aetrius." She whispered.
Her heart began to race, being able to feel it in her chest like a mighty war drum she swore that Linde could most likely hear it beating away in her chest. She didn't understand what about Linde made her feel nor even act like this, but maybe it wasn't something for her to understand. The young bounty hunter was only able to sit there and engage in the kiss with her lover, as her body was tense and frozen in place was the unexpected kiss. Holy Heresta! If she doesn't give me a break, I'm going to lose my mind and will to hold back... she thought, but eventually Linde did give up the kiss, but she held onto Aetrius the same and rwsted her head on her shoulder. Aetrius was only able to sit there, eyes wide as saucers, mouth slightly ajar and her cheeks were flushed with a bright pink color as she looked out at the night sky. She nodded as Linde spoke, and was only able to mumble out something along the lines of, "Of course, Linde" in her currently shocked state.
Slowly her arm around Aetri's waist slid up to wrap around her neck, and her fingers curled around the muscles on the far side to prevent her from moving away. She began leaning up turning her head slightly to the side.
"My love," she whispered.
Linde's lips parted, and regardless of what Aetri did to struggle Linde held her there and gently locked their lips together once again. She held firm and still, but ever so gently used the tip of her tongue to caress Aetri's lower lip. The hand holding Aetri's rose up slowly, flattening against Aetri's stomach and sliding up along her chest to wrap around her neck over the other as Linde pulled herself up and slowly lifted her leg across Aetri's to sit on her lap. Keeping their lips locked, Linde's fingers caressed and tangled themselves in Aetri's hair.
And between her kisses, Linde managed to whisper, "Let us not waste this night." And following that Linde gently eased forward pressing her chest to Aetri's and wrapping her arms all the way round until her fingers locked around her own elbows... Aetri wasn't going anywhere.
She was only able to sit there as Linde eventually sat on her lap, tangled her hands in her hair and held her close and began yet again another passionate kiss. Aetrius' face lit up yet again, as well as her body tensing up as she hadn't expected this endevour to take place. The usually calm, cool, collected and always thinking bounty hunter was now a squishy, melted, blob with her mind racing every which way. Not a single, comprehwnsive thought was inside her head other than, This is it. This is where I die today... as Linde had engaged in the kiss. They had only ever shard one other kiss like this before, which was all the way back in Veilbrand when she had told Linde about some of her feelings, but not like this. All she was able to do was sit there and accept the affection from Linde, which she was slowly starting to lose hee resolve and cool headedness and only act on emotions as she returned the kiss, feeling herself slowly lose control of herself and actions.

He found himself on top of the sand dunes of his dreams, as he looked around before standing up and tying his hair in a tail and making his way down the dune. He then began to speak. āIf Heresta or my Ancestors hear me, please. I need your wisdom for the path ahead of me. For I see a fork in it.ā He stopped walking as he looked at a dust devil that seemed miles away. āThere is a woman. A Triveilan noblewoman, who is to be the next princess. She has unknowingly captured my heart. The problem is if she does choose to be Princess, I donāt know if I should stay with her, or continue my journey with my friends. I donāt know which is the right choice as I donāt know what either choice could mean! I may be scared of failing my clan, failing my friends and myself. Possibly the occasional snake, But above all else, Iām scared now because I donāt know! The Unknown terrifies me! I canāt see where each path leads! So please! Help me! Somebody! Anybody.ā he slowly sank to his knees as his shouts turned to a silent humble whisper, his face tear stricken with confliction written all over it.
āHelp...ā he whispered with a choked sob. He bowed his head to the sands. Then he felt someone pulling him to a sitting position and pulling him into an embrace from behind.
āOh my LonĆ”n, Flesh of My Flesh, Son of my Sons, I hear you.ā A soft female voice answered. āFrom Herestaās Halls Iāve watched you as youāve grown in strength and potential. Yes you indeed have many branches on this fork in your path. But regardless of which you choose, you shall plant the seeds of the Arzura clanās future. Wake up now, and prepare for the many battles ahead. Remember, Ceres, wife of Kalandros, loves you my Descendant.ā
āāā
LonĆ”n snapped open his eyes, and touched his face, finding them tear streaked as he wiped any leftover tears away. āNot a very enlightening answer. But I suppose Iāll take what I can get, hopefully I come to an answer soon.ā He said as he checked the window and felt the sun stab his eyes. āMORNING?! I fell asleep meditating again! Herestaās Breath!ā
She couldn't help as a small smile did crease her lips, and she gently planted a kiss on Linde's forehead and coverd her with the blankets. With her swords and gear ready, she easily slipped out of the room and headed into the inn's dining hall and sat down at one of rhe tables, she ordered some food and waited for the others to join her, which she hoped was soon. Thankfully when her food arrived Kieran joined her at the table and the two conversed and began eating while waiting for the others to join them as they'd discuss their plans once more before they put it into action.
After Aetrius, Kieran, Lolan, Josephine, and Rose had breakfast, Aetius prepared to meet up with Kyero for the plan. As she made her way to Kyero with Kieran she thought, Is..Is Linde okay..? I hope I didn't...oh Heresta's Breast what did I do... she mumbled to herself and exited the inn. Shortly after she found Kyero, "So, what's the plan? " she questioned as she crossed her arms and awaited the plans.
Princess. Thereās the rub, if he wanted to win her heart if she stayed, he faced a terrible decision. But what in blazes did his Ancestor mean by heād make an impact on the clan regardless of which path to choose? Was it some sort of Test made by Heresta? He couldnāt know.
āBacktracking to the Plan however, Whereās Linde?ā He mused. āIs she sleeping in?ā If that was the case, only Heresta, and probably Aetrius knows why.
The promised day had arrived, and today was a day for precise execution of a carefully calculated plan to rid Triveila of a traitor. The death of the former Queen struck the entire nation as a devastating loss, but none were affected as much as the Queen's longtime friend and future successor, Josephine Dezantro.
Speaking of Lady Dezantro, she was pacing in the room with her hands behind her back. Her role was to remain safe and out of the way so that the others could execute the plan. One new arrival, however, an old acquaintance of hers, Johan Persh, decided to accompany Kieran, Aetri, and Kyero. Linde had since awoken and was paired with Lonan at a location not far from the intended location of where Kieran was to guide Miils. A one-way dead-end alleyway where they could easily trap him and bring him back.
Josephine paced nervously as another arrival, longtime ally Bronsen Furth, arrived to protect and keep her company. Her allies and friends were slowly revealing themselves to the group, making their locations and purpose known. Subtly, but surely.
And thus the waiting game for Josephine began. Aetri and Kyero were in position, ready to begin. It was up to Kieran now to get them rolling when Miils stepped out from his home.
