Cauld Neth

"They call me the village eater you know."

0 · 328 views · located in Evercrest

a character in “Atherea, Age of Peace.”, as played by echo8

Description

Age: 25

Face: Cauld’s face is pretty plain in structure but shows signs of malnourishment like gaunt cheeks. He has dark green tattoos of eyes on his cheeks, forehead, and temples.

Body: His build is average and highly inconspicuous. He has more tattoos of eyes on each shoulder blade, down his arms and legs, and one on in the center of his torso. He has stone gray skin.

Hair & eyes: Long locks of greasy dark brown hair drapes down his back. His eyes are burning blue and slightly sunk back into his skull.

Other: He rarely changes his under clothes keeping to a grey tunic and worn down tan pants. He wears heavy metal boots and a pair of gauntlets he stole from a village guardsman. Over it all he wears a long think brown cloak and hood that hides his body and most of his massive sword.

Magics: He has special spells that control small bugs as spies and can cause heightened paranoia or fear.

Personality

Cauld is twitchy and nervous all the time. He suffers from paranoia after being around Void Splitter for so long. Because of his paranoia though he puts a lot of trust in the old gods to give him enough power to keep everyone away from him. Since he keeps no close contact with anyone Cauld tends to roam from village to village looking for ways to raise the old gods while destroying villages in the process.

Equipment

Always on his person is a huge sword named Void Splitter. Void Splitter is a gigantic curved blade that is half organic half metallic. The main blade is curved back leaving one side as a deep violet blade and the other side a row of sharp spikes. When the blade cuts through a human is feeds on the blood in the body adding to its internal power. The hilt is a mass of organic material with multiple eyes in it and a half circle chunk missing with a bone handle within. When the sword is at full power a giant mouth opens from the organic material that then releases a horrific screaming that bursts eardrums and disrupts molecular cohesion.

Void Splitter is a living thing that contains the spirit of the most powerful creature in the Void. Its power is less than that of a god but powerful enough to hold the attention of one. When Void Splitter fully takes its champion it dawns the Void Mantle a suit of armor that uses the Void to give itself more power but drastically harming the champion.

So begins...

The robed figure slowly strode through the once prosperous village not stirring a single particle of dust. His face hidden in the shadow of his hood. Littering the paths of the village were lifeless corpses. Neighbors killed by neighbors, children slaughtered by their parents, a few bodies surrounded by the corpses of a pack or young ones. The robed man passed buildings burnt to ashes and the tavern with all its windows smashed and the sign swinging in the wind. Only one thing was completely wrong with the horrific scene and that was there was no blood anywhere at all. Not a single stain, splatter, or pool of the substance was left in the village. The man smiled as he left the village's limits along the path to the next. He kept on this path for a long time never stopping. At one point he came across another village but it was abandoned to his distaste. Luckily though the fountain in the village square was still pumping more or less clean water.

The man pulled his hood back revealing is stone gray skin and green tattoos. He bent over and cupped the water to his face. It was cold and sweet to his liking. After pulling his mighty sword from its place on his back Cauld sat cross legged on the ground and took in a deep breath.

"Oh Baron I filled Void Splitter again for you. I hope this makes you proud and put me in your favor. I need not hear your holy words now for soon you will be released if the rumors I heard are true. I'm looking for more villages to use as food for Void Splitter."

Cauld nodded his head and stood again replacing Void Splitter on his back. He continued down the road eventually reaching a fork. After some deliberation he took a path and stuck to it for hours. Eventually he reached his third village of the day, but again to his distaste it was void of life. It was burning and all the people were dead.

"Damn!!" he screamed"This will not do at all!"

"Solider..." Suddenly the man doubled over in pain, his back nearly cracking as if something had griped him by his spine and pushed him down to the dirt. "Bask in my presence, mortal, and hear my words..." After wondering who, or what, the voice was, it suddenly hit him. The voice he heard in his mind was none other than the voice of Baron Praxus.

"You, tiny, insignificant mortal, are in great danger. As we speak, a group of humans led by the false-god Caylim walk to the village you stand in. Normaly, i would comand you to destroy the false-god... But now you have a far more important task. This village was destroyed by a creature of my sister, my rival, Lilith. You must find this werewolf, and destroy him. Fill the Void with his blood, mortal. He hides in the forest of Evercrest... Be mindful, Evercrest is a..." He paused for a moment to think before speaking again, "Beacon, for my sister. Here, her powers are strong there because of the creatures deep in the forest are ones of her design. Werewolves, Minotars, and even greater creatures lurk in the forest. Here, you will find him. Be warned mortal, Lilith has been known to use methods that are not... Conventional."

"Leave, human, and make haste. The forces of the false-gods are powerful, but soon no one will be able to stop us... Do not fail." With that the crushing feeling was lifted, and he was soon aloud to stand up once more. He soon found that Barons words were true, because he could sense the creatures of the New Gods approaching.

Cauld laid crumpled in the dirt listening to the words of his master as blood trickled from his mouth into the soil. When the final words of his master had drifted away into the ether Cauld rose to his knees. Slowly he used the blood left on the ground to draw a small summoning circle. He blew a subtle whisper into the circle and soon it began to bubble and rise. Cauld stood back as a horde of spiders poured forth into the world. The spiders began to take form and shape into a werewolf.

"Oh void spiders I've brought you forth to distract those meddlesome soldiers master has told us of," Cauld spoke softly to the creature as it put its head under his hand for a petting. "Now go my pet and cause some havoc for me."

Cauld shoo'ed the beast further into the village. After it drifted from sight Cauld spoke up, "Oh great Baron whose power protects I will fulfill you're almighty quest!" The words echoed off the walls that were left.

With that he drew forth Void Splitter and held it firm. He knew he had enough power collected for one short jump so he quickly brought the sword down cutting into the void. The split in reality showed a world full of carnage and blood that embodied the violence that bled over from every world. Cauld took a step inside and when he stepped out he was in front of a mighty forest but also about a yard off the ground. Gravity kicked in and he fell to the hard packed ground.

The party was short lived, only lasting a few minutes before suddenly the spell was broken. There, in front of the goddess, werewolves, Conall, and Draken, was the 10 foot tall Baron, in the flesh. As all looked upon him, his hand gripped the throat of the lustful goddess, witch startled her. But after a moment, it clicked to her it wasn't him. Only an illusion, though it was real enough for the rest of the viewers.

"...Whore..." Even though it was one voice, it echoed inside of his helmet like 1000. "I admit, the years of being stuffed inside a rock with out a single pleasurable thought has treated you well...And your pathetic little spell even seamed to work on me..." Slowly, the barons hand and eyes fallowed down the goddesses body until it reached between her legs."

"But, I should have crushed the life from your body 1000 years ago...You have made a grave error, whore mother, one that has jeopardized my accention to the throne once more, you have alerted the false gods of our presence. The mortals are stronger than you remember, they are not the weak bags of flesh you used to please yourself with thousands of years ago. With each step towards the fires of the Black Anvil, i grow stronger. The only reason i dont crush the life from you now is because you would simply forge yourself another body. We, the true gods, will give you another chance. With your little spell, you now know the number of enemy's we face, and where they are."

"If you use your... Children... To find my ax, and bring it to me. Your power will be restored to is full potential, and when i am done with the humans of this world, i will allow you to rule whats left of it. A fair trade i believe, an ax for a dominion of mankind...Each human simply fucking there brains out, carrying out there must primal feelings freely." With that, the Baron dropped the goddess and stared down at her. "Do not fail me, whore, or i shall find the ax myself, and use it to crush the life from your immortal body."

Then, the illusion faded away into dust in a breeze.

Cauld watch the warriors fight his pet through his magic tattoos. His pride in the creature for holding them for this long was high. Then the pet started to fail it was going to be killed so Cauld prepared to break the magical link between them. But before the link was broken they killed it. Cauld stopped walking and fell to his knees as the unbearable arcane surge burnt in the tattoos. The pain became overwhelming and Cauld screamed in agony. As the scream carried on Void Splitter was activated screaming with its host. The unworldly scream exploded from the sword in every direction. Nearby birds exploded, trees fell, smaller animals went mad and killed themselves, and the dirt beneath him cratered. The scream echoed across the five holds stirring fear into the hearts of those who heard it and even reopened old void rifts that Cauld had used. Soon both of the screams faded away and when it was all done Cauld vomited blood into the dirt.

As the scream passed into the dead pet it crumbled into dust and blew away into the wind.

"Damn that false god! Damn her and those two soldiers of hers!" Cauld spat blood out of his mouth and wiped his face as he stood.

When he looked up he could see horrible natural disasters through the trees and though they were terrible his rage suppressed his fear. Now he had but one goal to destroy the werewolf and the god that betrayed his master. So he began to run into the forest screaming curses. His rage had built nad his bloodlust growled in his stomach.

He whistled loudly as he ran and shouted, "Here wolfy wolfy wolf!! Time to come out and play! Don't be scared I just want to eat you for my master!!"

Drakenvold turned and did not look back.

He was off to his cave, his home, to think and drink. He had seen a fair deal of crap that day, he needed time to digest it all.

One good thing had occured though, his faith in Praxus had been rekindled. The god had truly exerted his authority upon that no good whore. It had felt good when her spell wore off and her vulgar form dissipated from his mind. He would tell Praxus if she went back on her word, that much was certain.

Once he arrived at his cave he began to drink heavily. He had just drank another barrelful when he heard an extremley flat voice outside

Here wolfy, wolfy, wolfy!

"Oh bloody hell, not another weirdo!" he moaned, slightly irritable from the ale.

Oh well, free meal, he thought to himself, poised ready to strike

Cauld could smell it around him, Lilith's grasp. It disgusted him and made him want to vomit. The stench of the creatures of this world mating all at once. If flooded the world and started to replace the splendid smell of blood that had sat in his nose for so long. He could hear her words seep into his mind trying to convince him rape and kill. Her voice started to sooth him and he undid his cloak letting it sift to the ground. His heart was warming and his brain in a haze. The call to kill burned brightly like a beacon in his mind so he reached for Void Splitter as his other hand tore his tunic away. When his finger clutched the ancient and mysterious sword he heard it.

The voice was cold and gargled like it was under water, "Lilith this one is mine your wretched grasp will not take him. You and your "gods" I have no quarrel with. This is my champion this is the Void's emissary to your world. Do not ask me my plan for it is beyond you...but in simple terms I want blood all of the blood in this world!" Then it laughed a blood curdling tune. Cauld could hear and feel the telepathic wave blast from the sword. When his blood cooled again Cauld stood there with all of his eye tattoos burning bright blue and Void Splitter's hilt had grown around his hand.

Cauld continued his walk towards the center of the forest. As he passed a cave all the pupils on his body and on Void Splitter turned to look at the cave sending a chill down the spine of whatever they stared at.

Cauld could see everything around him but not from his eyes. It was as though he was no longer using his eyes but all the other eyes on his body. It was strange and new to him to see the blood flowing though the veins of all the creatures nearby. He was so confused by the turn of events in his psyche. But all in all it was exciting to a new extreme. All his attention focused on to large source of blood in the cave near him. He felt his body moving, crouching towards the ground. The voice was soft in his mind, "If memory serves there is a 'god' in this world who can feel the animals." Cauld felt something soft and furry in his hand. The eyes turn to the hand and he could see a mole in his hand. The voice spoke softly, "Let us have some fun using the void..." The soft chuckle frighten Cauld as an eye burned into the forehead of the creature making it scream in pain. Then the voice came again more powerful this time flooding his mind completely.

"Oh Baron. You don't know who I am but it seems my host have undying devotion to you. So I've decided to make a deal with you. If I use the Void to help with your overall goals then maybe you might throw some of the blood that you spill my way. Huh? Sounds pretty delicious if you ask me. So when you have an answer tell Cauld I'll get the message."

After the voice faded Cauld found himself back in control. The tattoos faded back to the ink they were. He turned to the cave and started towards it. "Oh um hello? I could see your blood so I know your in here. So could you tell me who you are with, Baron or Lilith or the false gods? If you are to align yourself with the Baron then I am a friend otherwise I'll just have to kill you because Void Splitter is starving for blood or even a soul."

Drakenvold was tired. But he pressed on. He had survived the ordeal with Lilith but at the cost of his left eye, which had popped, forcing him to wear an eyepatch over its ruined socket. He hated Lilith more than ever now, especially when he sensed the beast she had sent to try and steal banatrix for herself. He was tasked with rallying grim forges defenses for its inevitable onslaught, for it had failed in its task and was seething with rage. Inglip, mage of Arktorious, had took banatrix from the assasin and hurled the blade into the grim fire himself. Drakenvold had felt the old gods power return and ambled out of the cave, completely forgetting lilith and "the weirdo" as he recieved his orders from the Baron himself. Praxus knew the power of the older children of Lilith, so for this task he had given Drakenvold access to some of the finest seige weapons in the land and an entire horde of Darklings to command. Personally, he couldnt wait to fight alongside Inglip again, or see the combined might of Praxus, Azazel and Malakath in action. He felt giddy, so giddy in fact that he almost missed the sorry sight of Caylim and her party, still smarting from Lilith's influence.

I shall add to their woes, he thought, and have some fun, besides, i deserve it. He used the ruby crown to send them a message.

"Caylim, worthy goddess and her retinue, you hath failed, the old gods are free, and your destruction is iminent. You had no idea of the forces working against you, and you have paid dearly."

Then he began to target their minds, one by one

to Rolaf;
"Oh worthy knight, you are to the godessess as a ward is to a mage. But what happens when you fail, hmmm? I see your visions, of dear little Takira lying dead, cut down with you powerless to aid her, and, oh my, the LOOK mora gives you........."

To Athos
"Oh worthy Athos, accomplished assasin, you hide in the shadows, keeping away from gods, for you are in awe of them, they have touched you once before, i see. i see your visions, of the gods, new and old, standing tall at the top of a huge chasm, with their scornful laughter being sent to its depths where you lie, tormented by inner demons and succubi."

To Alexy;
"Your mixed genes have always been frowned upon, little one, but they are the least of your worries. You are a bumbling bafoon who is useless without his bag of hocus pocus. I see your visions, forced to lead your kin through a vast desert, but you never get them to their destination, and they die in their droves from starvation, and their ghosts haunt you."

To Zee;
"Oh." he exclaimed, cocking his head to one side "Ok then, lets just say you are very late." He said, realising her true agenda.

And finally, to Caylim
"Godess, you love your feeble 'Moon mother' and would not survive without her guidance, however, what would you do if she never rose from the sky? If her guidance failed you? There is not much to say about your visions, for they are exactly that."

He then adressed the whole party.
"Go back to your pitiful patron and tell her of your failure. If i had the time, i would kill you all right now, but I am afraid i have more pressing matters beyond your comprehension. But know my name, and fear me, I am Drakenvold, messanger of ruin, seated at the right hand of the Baron himself, when we meet on the field of battle once more, i shall crush you. Farewell, my little failures."

And with that he extended his wings, blocking the view of the moon as a final insult to Caylim, and departed, Cackling manically as he went. He was not possessed by rage, lust or a penchant for flesh and blood, oh no.

Drakenvold was just generally a psychopath

Cauld flew back on to his ass as the dragon flew over him. He quickly stood back up and watched it fly away. After the shock wore off he decided to return to his mission. He started sprinting knowing the Baron would not be pleased with the time he had wasted. Only one thing needed to be done in his mind he needed to destroy the Mother of Monsters for his master. His lungs grew heavy in his chest as he lost energy, all his power had gone into Void Splitter but he kept running. As he ran he considered all the facts he knew at the moment: First Lilith was a god so the best he could do is beat her into submission, Second he knew he was mortal and would be killed by her the second he raised his sword, Third Void Splitter was not an ordinary sword. It was not as powerful as Beatrix or the Baron's mighty axe, but as far as Cauld knew it was the only sword in existence that could hurt a god in anyway. Though most importantly to Cauld was that Void Splitter was alive and knew of Lilith and the other gods in this world.

So Cauld let Void Splitter lead him to the dark mother. He kept running through the trees dispatching any creature that got in his way feeding his sword with their blood. When he saw the eclipse of the moon it was for a second from the corner of his eye. He shook it away needing to concentrate on reaching Lilith. Finally as his strength and energy completely faded he reached the ancient prison. He stood there starring at her, the darkest of creatures, then Void Splitter spoke to him softly just prodding his mind with its intoxicating presence, "Do not be fooled by her beauty Cauld she is not as powerful as you'd think. Her power stems from her beauty but the beautiful are nothing to the Void. Remember that and you'll do fine."

Cauld watched her speak to the dog-men beneath her. He could not make out her words but he assumed they were vile and tricky. Hi fear gargled up in his stomach but Void Splitter cooled his mood. With this new feeling he walked towards the monsters and their queen. He pulled the massive sword from its place then he started to shout to the crowd and their host, "Dearest Lilith Mother of Monsters! I have come to kill you by the order of his supremacy Baron Praxus!"

Mortals.

The Mother laughed, musically, as the lycan seemed to be thinking with the wrong head....most men did. His lust was apparent, and it had been a while for her, way too long. They did still come the way she remembered, didn't they? Young Dumb and full of-

"Dearest Lilith Mother of Monsters! I have come to kill you by the order of his supremacy Baron Praxus!"

"For fuck's sake." she mutters, tilting her head to the side to peer through her hair at the newcomer. He looked rather bedraggled, filthy really. He had been running about in the woods by the look of it, and busy getting covered in blood and crud. He was also here to kill her. Wonderful. This was one of those jokes..wasn't it? "Worm, begone. Lest I loose my temper. Today has been one of the bad ones, and I have only been awake for about thirty minutes.

With that she dismissed the mortal.

His sword though, it gave off a strange energy, one she did not recognize...nor did she like. It would require action. It seemed she would need to dirty her hands today after all. Unless one of her pets wanted to do it instead?

Closing her eyes half way she allowed her mind to touch the closest...OH. Well, this would be quite a show after all. With a smirk she faces the lycan and winks. "Just a moment, I need to take care of this."

Running her tongue across her lips she turns and faces the wielder of the strange sword, "I know not why you come. I know not why you lie, that blade is not of the Baron's making...but I do know one thing. You have made a grave and final error in coming here. I wish you luck, and should you survive...maybe I will play with what's left for a bit."

A quick motion of her hand, a clenching of finger with a swift ripping upward releases something...

Misssssstresssss? You have called? A voice hisses in the minds of those gathered, the sound of dry leaves blown across a wasteland. Something black, seeming made from fluid rises from the ground at Lilith's feet. Man-shaped, devoid of all features..save twin burning green eyes. The being's mass seems to crawl, like worms or tentacles writhing, while light seems to disappear into it's form revealing nothing of it's depth.

"End this maggot, then send your self in all directions. I want the Axe found. Do this, and then you may do as you wish with a city of your choosing. Do not fail me...Nox." she smiled, saying the name. It was one not known well on this world...but elsewhere it still awoke terror. Like the man before her's weapon...this was a being from between worlds. A TRUE monster. A Nightmare

Assssss you wish. The being bowed it's head slightly, before taking a step towards Cauld. It's mass vibrated slightly- excitement, not fear. The mortal had made a grave error. A fatal one, as Lilith had said.

"You're going to want to watch this. This is what happens to those who bother me. Keep it in mind." she said, glancing over her shoulder at Conall. The message was clear. Fuck with her and die.

Conall

The woman, whomever she was, was laughing. Perhaps, she found him charming. That would be a plus. Things seemed to be going well. How often did one happen on a creature as magnificent as this and the encounter go smoothly? Not often. His grin widened as his eyes traced over her curves and he growled in pleasure. Oh yes, things were going well, and they were only going to get better- whether she enjoyed it or not..

"Dearest Lilith Mother of Monsters! I have come to kill you by the order of his supremacy Baron Praxus!"

"What the fuck?" Confusion and anger rasped through Conall's throat as the newcomer stole the spotlight. Apparently, he wasn't the only one who desired her attention. Dearest? Mother of monsters? Baron? The man's introduction was definitely a curious one. Some names rang a bell, but he couldn't care less. This man was cockblocking, and that was unacceptable. "What, you some angry Ex or something? Wait your fucking turn." His words seemingly unheard, he then pauses, his eyes flicking between the woman and the man.

"Just a moment, I need to take care of this."

More confused than anything he watches the act before him. Something about a blade and the Baron again.. Things were starting to click somewhat when his thoughts were invaded by yet another intruder. Misssssstresssss? You have called? His hair stands on end and he jumps at the sudden voice, it's presence not only startling him but the pure energy of the thing..was unnatural. "Whatthefuckisthat?" he manages to speak, watching the creature's horrible tentacles and black goo gather itself into something more humanesque. "What the fuck is going on?" He was on the verge of hysteria, but either his stubbornness or his curiosity kept him in tact. Something major was about to go down and rather than piss of a woman who could summon- whatever that is, he'd listen-for now. Nothing was worse than being the subject of a woman's wrath.

Cauld watched the creature appear and when he saw it Void Splitter took him again. He felt a new rage, an ancient rage that was new to his mortal mind flood his mind. The tattoos on his body burned blood red and the pupils shook violently. His voice now was heated, a burning inferno of passionate rage, "Lilith you insolent bitch!! You don't recognize me!? You don't recognize the lord of the Void!?", Cauld's body walked forward as the hilt of Void Splitter grew up and around him. "You tortured my realm with your games and experiments. You stole from the Void."

Cauld's whole body was covered in the red organic material that made Void Splitter's hilt. It hardened slowly and eyes started to blink open. "Now you insult me by summoning that creature!" Cauld pointed the massive sword at the gray monster growling softly, "So I will take Cauld my champion and use him to kill you vile whore. Witness the Void Mantle my greatest gift to my champion and the worst possible thing I could use against you!!"

The gore finally finished forming into a suit of armor made of the material of the Void. The material was a sort of gory metal that pulsed with blood and madness. It was blood red and made of millions of sinews. On each of the pieces of armor was an eye of a different creature embedded in them. The chest piece had four openings on the back allowing four gory tendrils to be free. All of the eyes stared at the nightmare creature at her feet. He readied the sword holding it in both hands letting blood drip from his body.

Crazy.

"You tortured my realm with your games and experiments. You stole from the Void." the man ranted, becoming some kinda...thing.

...It'sssss wrong to kill the handicapped...but if it breedssss then it could become an epidemic. Missssstressss shall I begin? the black being inquires, cocking it's head for a moment. The transformed being was kinda neat looking. All the eyes and what-not. The effect was lost on Nox however- it had seen the bleak wastes of the Veil and beyond, it could not feel fear. It's green eyes swept along the figure, taking in it's mass and stance. The fight would be a quick one. They usually were.

Lilith sighed. This person was crazy. Why did she seem to be attracting the crazies?

"I have no idea what you are talking about. You die for no reason, how cute. Nox. End this." Lilith was loosing interest, a crazy person? Some kinda sword creature? Rants and raves about her 'stealing' from some place called the 'void'? The only thing even resembling that was Nox...and it came to her willingly. This man was either mistaken...or a fool. Either way he was dead.

Nox moved.

To say he flowed is easy to imagine- he was fluid in mass. One step became a flowing glide, Nox's form sliding towards the big ol' sword wielding thing, showing no heed for whatever the beast may have planned. By avoiding all that pesky friction and stepping that most creatures needed for locomotion Nox moved pretty damn fast. Zipping along it closed the distance between itself and whatever Cauld had become in the blink of an eye.

As it moved it prepared itself. Mass vibrated, shifting slightly. It was preparing something nasty.

As a creature from between worlds it was used to dealing with horrific things. It had ways to survive damage that would end most creatures on the spot. Nox was going to be a hard nut to crack. Cauld should have picked a better battle plan. Like running away. Too late now.

Cauld saw the creature move and was about to defend but before he bring up his sword the creature was in front of him vibrating like a bee hive. He grunted and stepped back bringing up the sword and letting it wail its mighty scream. The sonic boom of a scream exploded from the blade digging his feet into the ground. The scream wasn't by any means an offensive move but was completely a defensive one creating a form of shield against the strange creature. The armor was holding its place but his body pressed back into the armor. Then Cauld mustered up enough strength to swing the sword and with it the scream at the monster.

The God of Death felt a shifting in his domain, not just the influence of his return but the retreat of another. Something else had been calling The Underworld home during his absence. Arktorius tilted his haunting gaze down to look upon his realm with interest.

"You will forgive me if I do not await the return of our brother. I know his power well and need not a display of it."

With that he turned to his servant Inglip, looming over the elven mage forebodingly.

"You... You have proven yourself to me mortal and you shall receive your reward as promised... in time."

With a wave of his hand Inglip was transported back to his room in the Temple of Malakath to await his prize. This done Arktorius' body began to resonate blueish black energy as his body shifted from the world of men to the nether. It shimmered and faded from existence only to reappear in a place of pure unholy disbelief. Mountains of ice jaggedly shot upwards from the groud and stabbed the sky of the world below in response to the return of it's master. The deathly wind howled in triumph, bringing with it a frigidness that could freeze the blood in the veins of any mortal. The dead all chanted his name in ghastly worship of their master. The Underworld, the seat of power for the King of the Damned and yet, another sat on the throne of the Void. A demon in truest form sat shaking in terror at the return of the true king. Arktorius stared up at him with his haunting blue eyes smoking with pure power. As with the rest of his realm the throne itself changed in response to Malakaths presence. The throne of skulls froze over and encased itself in unforgiving ice. The false ruler who had taken up residence in the realm of the dead was restrained by the throne he so carelessly claimed for himself, the ice forming over his limbs holding him enthralled. Arktorius moved slowly, his footfalls were like the steps of doom as he made his approach. The dead all howled in unison at the slaughter that was to come. The Master of the Void, King of Death and Darkness stood now, looming over the creature with displeasure on his face.

"Usurper..."

He said, his voice a haunting whisper. His hand shot out and wrapped around the throat of Void Splitter before ripping him from the throne. The ice around his limps shattered under the force and the being hung their limply, dangling in the grasp of the God of Death.

"Show me what mad thoughts led you to believe you could claim dominion over MY realm."

With those words Arktorius Malakath layed the mind of Void Splitter out to bear. For the God of the Underworld to enter your mind it could be painless, unnoticeable if he wished it so. This was most certainly NOT painless. Arktorius flayed his mind as he ripped it open wide. Void Splitter screamed in unimaginable agony as his mind was torn asunder through the simple presence of the Death God entering inside it. Arktorius saw its birth from the void. Witnessed the creation of the blade with the same name. Observed its choosing of its champion Cauld Neth. Then an interesting sight indeed. The champion of the usurper was locked in combat with the Mistress of the Black Lust. She had called fourth Nightmare incarnate and at the moment Cauld was battling for his life. The sight pleased Arktorius as the sting from Lilith's betrayal was still fresh in his mind. Malakath exited the mind of Void Splitter much to the relief of the creature. Casually Arktorius let loose his hold on Void Splitter and allowed him to drop to the frozen ground in a heap. The Master of the Void turned away from him and took his rightful place on the frozen throne.

"Your misadventures amuse me young one. So much so that I shall spare you the fate of oblivion. Infact... I shall reward you. You, who challenges the Mother of Monsters. For as it is now your champion stands not a chance of surviving the next few moments. The blade Void Spliiter he wields is incomplete. Made of you it is not whole.. and must be made one."

Arktorius Malakath rose one hand and Void Splitters body began to glow. Dark energy swirled around him and invaded his very being. The creature of the Void screamed in torment as the essence consumed him and ripped him from Malakath's realm. Arktorius entered then the mind of Cauld Neth, the once champion of the creature from the Void now, if he so chose, the agent of the True Master of the Void.

"Here my voice Cauld Neth. I am Arktorius Malakath, the One and Only Lord of the Void. You're benefactor has graciously appraised me of your current predicament and I grant you a boon. First I make your weapon whole."

As he spoke the demonic blade in Cauld's hands began to shake violently as dark power swirled around it. The being from the Void that had so foolishly thought to claim the throne of the dead for himself was now being inserted into his own creation. Reconnected with what of him lay in the blade all of Void Splitter was now the weapon of Cauld Neth. He wielded all the power of the creature from the void in his hands, a formidable force to be reckoned with for sure but the King of the Damned was not done.

"My benevolence goes further..."

As his words echoed in the mind of Cauld the ground around the bearer of Void Splitter and the Nightmare began to tremble. Cracks formed in the earth and blue light began to eek its way out. Smokey blue essence poured fourth and with it, the hands of the dead. Out of the rifts made between the land of the living and the underworld crawled out a horde of draugr . Undead warriors who have long since died in wars forgotten ages ago. Fearsome ghouls who know not pain or fear but only the need to kill. They hear only the call of their master and the battle drums of war.

"Behold... The dead rise to fight at your side, bearer of Void Splitter. My gift to you."

Arktorius lounged back now, pleased with his work. Lilith would know without a doubt who was at work here. She would soon see the price for betraying the God of Death. She saw fit to aid his enemies and so too shall he aid hers. The battle was now truly about to begin and Arktorius Malakath would watch every second of it.

Scream.

Nox had arrived where it wanted, but the foe seemed to be too afraid to do anything. Anything but scream that is. The blast of sound did more to annoy Lilith and Conall most likely, Nox simply stood there, and waited. Action was coming, it could read it in the tension in the fleshy armor's stance. The grip tightened on the blade's hilt, as all grips do, before the swing begun..and that was when Nox would strike.

I too can scream, fleshy one. Though I am not limited to your range of sound. Observe. the being spoke, before releasing a torrent of sonic power...directly into the mind of Cauld. Nox spoke through telepathy, by accepting the link the first time...allowing the being to speak to Cauld in the beginning...a door had been opened. As the myths of daemons spoke...once you invite it in, it can do as it pleases.

To give the reader an idea on the level of sound burst Nox released within the confines of Cauld's mind, please, read this aside:

"The Tunguska event was a massive explosion that occurred near the Podkamennaya (Under Rock) Tunguska River in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai of Russia, at 7:40 AM on June 30, 1908. The explosion was most likely caused by the air burst of a large meteoroid or comet fragment at an altitude of 5 to 10 kilometers (3–6 mi) above Earth’s surface. It was measured with the similar impact of a 1000-Mega-ton bomb with a decibel rating 300-315. This is often considered to be the loudest single-event in history."

Nox's sound was louder.

And it kept getting louder.

Cresting at a peak decibel rating of 606 dB if emitted audibly it would cause the ears of those hearing it to simply bleed. Bleed and become dead. The delicate membranes of the inner ear would shatter like sugar glass...useless evermore. Luckily for everyone else...only Cauld could hear the sound. Only HIS mind was effected. Weather he could survive this maelstrom of sound was to be seen- regardless he would come away from this damaged in some way...physicaly or mentally, morale would drop.

The swing of the sword would likely be effected, regardless it would be a simple thing to avoid, swung blindly as it had been- no clear target. Nox simply slid back a step, all the while feeling the ground shift below. Something was coming. Lilith had not summoned back-up...so that meant they were not friends. Good. This meat-bag was proving boring. All he did was yell and flail about.

Can I kill these as well missssstresss? it asked, the tidal wave of sound snapping to silence.

Though she had only felt and heard a minor part of that sound blast Lilith still had a headache. Frowning she took note of the shifting earth and let loose a sigh. "I must be cursed. That has to be it. Some curse that I may never know a moments peace..yes! Kill them. Kill them all." she snapped, her tone beginning to grow harsh. Mother was getting angry.

As the first undead rose from the ground Nox ended it with a single motion- what looked like a spike of it's mass extended from a point just below it's neck...impaling the Draugar through it's skull...and wrenching it from the body. Similar tendrils sprouted, each ending in a devastating point that sliced bone and flesh like cheese paper. Before long the ground was littered with the tatters of flesh, and a few neat stacks of bones. All this in the time it would take the armored man to finish his swing, set his stance and lift the blade for another try- should that be his plan or within his ability after that scream.

Nox was fast. Undead things simply were not.

Standing now, quite still, having spent it's build up of vibrations in that harsh scream, Nox waits to see what shall be next- the flesh bag...or more zombies. It hoped for both. Both would mean more fun.

Cauld stood there in the prison of Void material as the echoing boom rattled his flesh. His ears bled profusely down his head and neck as blood frothed from his mouth. Soon the eyes on the armor stared to close one by one in sheer pain. His knees buckled beneath him forcing him to kneel. He had gone in over confident and under prepared. The only reason he was still sane was because of the Void's hot madness. Finally Cauld collapsed into the dirt his mind starting to grow cold and quiet, he could no longer hear Void Splitter hissing in the back of his skull. He felt the freezing hand of death sliding into his body and he accepted it watching the creature stare at him with such joy in its eyes. Cauld started to close his eyes as his breathing slowed.

"Here my voice Cauld Neth. I am Arktorius Malakath, the One and Only Lord of the Void. You're benefactor has graciously appraised me of your current predicament and I grant you a boon. First I make your weapon whole."

Cauld's eyes snapped open when the words flooded his mind. Then the power came all at once into him flood his nervous system with a shock that sent his body into spasms of a drastic scale. Even in the heavy mantle his body flopped about like a fish out of water. As sudden as it had come the power surge stopped leaving hims twitching in the dirt. After a second Cauld started to pick himself up as burning blue hieroglyphs appeared onto the pieces of armor of the mantle. When he had fully picked himself the eyes had opened, a chunk of the helmet was missing revealing his left eye, and Malakath burned on the crest of his helm. Void Splitter's blade glowed a ghostly blue while the organic material on its hilt pulsed with a new aura of energy.

As the dead began to crawl from the earth when Cauld hear the voice again in his head, "Behold... The dead rise to fight at your side, bearer of Void Splitter. My gift to you."

Cauld swallowed hard as he watched the gray creature dispatch the dead monsters. The creature stared at him and it unnerved him. He had tasted a bit of his power and wanted nothing to do with the creature, but then something slapped his mind with cold intent. It wasn't a familiar feeling something he didn't know how to handle. It was overwhelming, much too powerful for Cauld to take. This was a new form of madness a cold one that froze the original inferno that had occupied his mind's deepest reaches. Before he could stop his legs the pushed him forward at the creature, when he was in range Cauld's arms swung the sword at the monster freezing the air it cut through.
