Description: Thomas is on the leaner side with his muscles presenting a toned look. His most notable trait would be the albinism that granted him scarlet eyes and a pale complexion. The hair white hair on his head extends all the way down to his chin at the longest point. The eyes are almond shaped and the jawline mildly pronounced, though his slightly sharper nose deters looking too soft. His body has the few scars inevitable from service in the Military. Though not top level as of brute strength, Thomas is exceptionally agile and quick, suiting his fighting style rather well.

As far as dress goes, his uniform is quite different from the standard of the Survey Corps. Instead it more closely follows that of the Military Police's Assault team, now disbanded. The outfit includes a charcoal black trench coat and darker turtle neck underneath, black pants, and boots. For identification purposes, he keeps the Survey Corps emblem on his person.

Thomas's arms and legs are slightly longer than average when compared to the body, not enough to make a noticeable impression though. His shoulders are mildly pulled back and rarely slump. Though usually in use of the standard firearms associated with 3DM gear, a flintlock revolver is often found at Thomas's hip. Depending, knives can be found on his body if searched carefully. When not using the 3DM gear, Thomas resorts to an Elite Issue Flintlock Rifle that was obtained through an acquaintance working with the MP. A powder flask, bullet pouch, and sword bayonet come with the rifle.

Age: 27
DOB: April 5th, 850
Birthplace: Trost District, Wall Rose
Current Residence: Utopia District, Wall Rose
Sexual Orientation: Hetrosexual
Ethnicity: Anglo-Saxon (English)

Height: 5'10
Weight: 150 lbs.
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Red
Body Type: Ectomorph
Voice Type: Baritone

Affiliation: Survey Corps
Rank: Private
Equipment: Standard AP Gear

Revolving Flintlock Pistol: One of the most advanced of it's time. Though it lacks the power of single shot pistols, it gains the advantage of a larger ammunition capacity.

Assorted Knives: Depending on the situation 1-a number of throwing knives and possibly a hidden knife.

(Not often) Elite issue Flintlock Rifle: If he is not using the 3DM gear for whatever reason, Thomas relies on this flintlock rifle. It is more durable, can fire a stronger charge, and has a better quality rifling than the standard issue flintlocks. He obtained it through an associate still working with the MP.

(Not often) Sword Bayonet: Used in accordance with the flintlock rifle, this rare type of bayonet also doubles as a short sword.

Combat Style: Soft Style

* Titan Form: N/A

Personality: Thomas is open to being social but often keeps himself from getting too close to some. He carries himself in a rather casual manner. While in the military police, he had carried himself rather proudly and stiff necked. When speaking, his typical tone of voice is again, rather casual, but his MP style may stick out. The MP are trained to speak clearly, and with authority, save for addressing superiors. Thomas can seem to be a bit unapproachable to some because of his verbal teasing, but he means nothing of it and shouldn't be taken seriously most of the time while outside of combat situations. Currently, his mental state is quite stable and always has been.

Thomas's relationship with his parents was good at first, but quickly deteriorated shortly after adolescence. His mother especially was rather controlling, though loving of him. His father on the other hand was very hypocritical, yet loving also. Though, they meant well, the faults that both parents had greatly obscured their intentions to Thomas. As a result, Thomas dislikes those who have a bossy demeanor without a certain level of actual authority. Hypocrites also rank high on his dislikes. After the souring of the relationship with his parents, Thomas proceeded to spend an increased amount of time with friends. Although he did not have many particularly close ties to the group he was seen with, he did manage to find a way into the "in crowd." The few he did, or tried to get closer to were either romantic interests or the guys at the top. Therefore, in the MP and the Survey Corps, Thomas usually tries to form bonds with higher ranking comrades rather than those with a lower, or identical rank.

The world is seen as a time bomb in Thomas's eyes. He believes it is only a matter of time before the world is destroyed or he is destroyed. Though he knows he will die, he sees the end as a very far off place he will reach when ready. A vast majority of the experiences he had serving in the MP influence his views. The greed and selfishness of civilians added to the corruption of the higher ups he had seen makes Thomas a bit apathetic towards others he doesn't know. Despite the fact that it wasn't his choice to be in the Survey Corps, Thomas gets along with almost everyone, though not too closely associated. Treatment upon arrival varied from person to person. Some greeted him enthusiastically, welcoming him to the crew. Others cursed him for being a former member of the MP and harassed him. However, any "bullies" who went too far were easily "disciplined" with his knowledge of self-defense and close quarters combat.

The MP drill into their troops the idea that engaging titans would be suicide. In other words, run like hell if you see one. The idea still resides in Thomas's mind.

Strengths: From having plenty of prior experience in a different branch of the military, doubled with knowledge of his current branch, Thomas has a superior amount of combat knowledge for his rank. Being ex military police, he also knows tactics, weapon use, and martial arts employed by the MP. This can bring a different view into things. From personal training while in the MP and rigors of being a member of the Survey Corps, Thomas is at a superior fitness level and is exceptionally agile.

Weaknesses: From as far back as his squad members can remember, Thomas has been a regular smoker. It has been inferred that he had started sometime during his MP years. The MP drills it's members with the statement of avoiding the engagement of titans. Thomas is still in the process of flushing the thought out of his subconscious. Because of the reason of why Thomas was placed in the Survey corps, he may not always be enthused or zealous.

Biography: Thomas was born to Samuel and Emily Auber. Both were born in Trost District and met at the market. Their love developed over time, classically with Mr. Auber Chasing Mrs. Since they were in the average age for marrying at the time, the two took a moderate pace. Ultimately the end result being marriage. The wed Aubers's parents had no real issue with the relationship, but never encouraged the things going on, remaining neutral. Thomas was the first and only child Samuel and Emily had. No particularly traumatizing events happened at this time.

During the first few years, things were well under control. Sure, the family was on the poorer side, but a steady income mostly provided by the Father and good relationships kept things held down. The steady income allowed just enough money to send Thomas to a nearby school for a time. Thomas tended to stay close with a couple friends, avoiding the others to the best of his ability. He was subject to heavy teasing from being different, though he was never physically hurt. As for religion, he was exposed to Christianity at a young age and was somewhat devout. Having good relationships with only a few people gave Thomas a bit of a closed door policy in the mind. Furthermore the constant teasing desensitized him from the possibilities of hurting others through verbal assault. The closed door issue solved itself in his teenage years, but the desensitization stayed with him until present day.

Through the process of adolescence, Thomas became more rebellious and irritable towards his parents. He also became farther from his religion. A good thing however, was that he opened up more to peers and found himself a large group of friends. He was more close to a select number however. He definitely found girls attractive, but didn't really have much zeal for relationships. They tended to be half hearted on his side and didn't last too long. Since he began to think about it, Thomas had wanted to become part of the Military Police. His parents supported the idea as well, though sorrowed by the fact that they wouldn't be seeing their son often. He stayed well off in school, and found ways to exercise as a sort of precursor to the training required to become a Military Policeman. The reason for the MP branch of the military was because of the security of the innermost area to both crime and potential titan attacks.
The military training wasn't as hard on Thomas due to his vigorous preparations. After a half year of basic training, he was chosen to take a course in MPAT (Military Police Assault Team) training, which took another half year. Since he had joined up at the minimum age, Thomas had been serving for a total of 8 years, excluding training. During almost the entire time in the MP, Thomas served with pride, but lately in the Survey Corps he seems less zealous. Thomas slowly acclimatized to the Survey Corps style of life, though he became a little anti social. The titan threat had begun to genuinely worry him, and his recent transfer from assistant supervisor to an actual combat squad hasn't helped much.

Thomas made it all the way up to the rank of Sargent in the Military police. It was the result of constant training and jobs well done. As a result, Thomas was assigned to the MP's assault team after graduating in the top ten. They were assigned to situations that required the infiltration of areas inhabited by hostiles. Everything was well until "the incident." Afterwards, the assault team was disbanded, and Thomas was expelled from the MP. Instead of going to a prison however, he chose to serve in the Survey Corps instead. Though stripped of his rank, he acted as an assistant supervisor and coordinator of drills and exercises. Recently, a member of an active team called the "Rosary Squad" took himself out of action through falling, and Thomas ended up taking the guy's place. Though only ranked officially as a private, Thomas has the military experience, not to mention prowess, of a sergeant.

So begins...

"We're out of time."
"Don't worry, we can take an alternate route and get out of here before our guys hit."
The door broke down with splinters flying.
"Hands!" Thomas was one of the few who reacted in time, shooting his hands into the air. Barely a moment later, the stragglers were gunned down at least 3 musket balls per person.

Thomas jolted awake. The sun had yet risen and it was quite peaceful. Taking a deep breathe, he rolled out of bed and proceeded with his morning schedule. Pushups, sit ups, burpees, squats, leg lifts, calf extensions, running...the list goes on. Afterwards, he bathed quickly, shaved, and did other tasks associated with readying oneself before the day began. His clothes were on and he was out the door.

After assisting the local commander through the running of errands for a short time, Thomas ran into a runner looking for him.
"What is it? Am I needed elsewhere now?" The runner hesitated a moment.
"...Uh...well, yes. The Sergeant in recruiting wanted to see you. He didn't say why." Thomas thought of all the probable reasons why he'd have to see the guy responsible for recruiting, but no practical reasons came to mind.
"Okay then, thank you." As the runner went on his way, Thomas did the same.

Upon arrival of the recruiting office, Thomas gave a firm knock. "Come in" He opened the door to see a man who couldn't be much older than he was. The Sergeant was well fit for a man on desk duty, which was something Thomas wasn't used to in the MP. The man motioned for him to take a seat, which Thomas did.
"So, you might be wondering why you were called down to recruitment. I mean, after all, you're already here." Thomas gave a nod. "Well, some kid on the Rosary squad tripped and fell. It was a bad fall, and he won't be back for some time." Thomas knew where this was going.

"Well it says on your file that your like a reserve of some sort...so you're going to be taking the guy's place for a bit. At least until some new recruits start rolling in. It's been real slow lately."
"When do I start?" He said after a sigh. Thomas had become rather accustomed to the way things had been, assisting in coordinating and running errands when needed. At the end of the day, he had his own small room where he could relax and later sleep.
"Today, you're gonna have to look for your squad up on the wall. Ask for Sergeant Leingod. You probably want to pick up your combat equipment before heading out. They'll give you any standard gear before training starts." The Sergeant spoke again once Thomas rose to leave. "Say...it says your Thomas Auber here. You wouldn't happen to be related to the same Auber on the MPAT? You know, the guys that put out a bunch of gang operations?"
"That was me." The Sergeant gave a look of disbelief.
"No way! What are you doing here?"

"Go ahead and ask the Commander. He'll tell you all about it." As he opened the door the man at the desk inquired once again, a new tone of respect in his words.
"You know, I can't say I have much love for the Military Police... but I had some bad experiences with those guys...criminals. Thanks for taking care of them." A smile graced the ex MP. Beginning the walk back to his room he muttered, "Yeah..."

Finally on top of Wall Maria, Thomas looked around to take in his surroundings. He may as well ask around to find Sergeant Leingod and her squad. God that kid was stupid, tripped himself. How did they guy even make it in the Survey Corps? A woman about his age caught Thomas's eye. She was pleasant to look at, so it would be nice to strike up some talk with her. Yet she had a serious gaze, showing that she'd probably give a good answer to any questions he had. Slowly approaching the woman Thomas thought about what it would be like to be caught in active duty with titans about, but quickly pushed the idea from his mind. Even if for whatever reason the titans did come back, he would be part of the AP personnel. He wouldn't have to deal with titans, just people. And he had plenty of experience at that.

"Excuse me, do you know where I could find Sergeant Leingod?" His voice wasn't loud, but the words were clear and amplified on their own accord. Without any help from their speaker. Thomas felt the gazes settle on his person. Some would recognize the style of tone from prior experiences, most of which were probably negative. The revolver in its holster and the rifle hanging from his shoulder, not to mention the black trenchcoat was a dead giveaway he didn't really belong.

Lucretia Fennel

Unwelcomed sunshine danced through the patched fabric of a threadbare curtain failing spectacularly at its' job of keeping out the cheerful light. Quiet clicks and jingles of metal brushing against one another broke the tranquil silence of the shabby bedroom as pale brown eyes cracked open slowly, a faint smile coming onto the young man's face. It would be hard to smile under any other circumstances given the light bruising around his right eye. Said smile was due to the appealing figure of a young woman adjusting the multitude of straps of her AP gear around her hips and legs. The rustling of the sheets broke the soldier's concentration as his forehead was flicked playfully at his leering expression "Do you really want another black eye to match Lucas?". Lucas merely propped himself up with a elbow before drawling "If it repeats the event of last night, you can beat me black and blue anytime, darling. You really have to leave so soon?". A soft sigh escaped the young woman as she pressed her lips gently to the man's cheek before stating quietly "I am being transferred to some new unit of sorts, which I am already making a less than decent impression as I am running behind..why did they have to make this gear so...". Her lips pursed as she tried to find the words to describe the multitude of belts and clasps curled around her body...

"Strappy?" Came the teasing voice of Lucas in a tone that would suggest completely different uses for the leather straps. A snort escaped the woman as she ran a hand through her short hair in an effort of taming the bed head. Lucas barely had time to say goodbye as his occasional bar fight and bedmate left the rundown room without a glance back. The entire walk to the meeting point Lucretia was having an internal struggle of the whole Lucas affair that seemed to happen far too often for her liking. Meeting a handsome stranger with either enough balls or liquid courage to provoke a fight with the drunken Private, who could be a bit trigger-happy at moments. Barstools and glasses were broken at each encounter followed by a night of passion, well as passionate as two drunken strangers could be. All the altercations were gradually getting the duo banned from several establishments, narrowing down Lucretia's reasons for refusing to date Lucas, much to his disappointment. Muttering under her breath "It's just a fling, I can't help if he looks at me like a lost puppy every time this happens. Civilians and military can't work out their are too many factors..". A sore attempt of an excuse, but it was all she had to tell herself that the relationship, if one could even call their dances of bar fights and drunken sex relationship material.

Finally her warring thoughts were pushed aside as the vast Wall Maria came into view. The wind whistling past her ears as she ascended the stone structure was like a soothing lullaby for her troubles, although a pit of dread began forming in her stomach as the waiting squad came into view. Her fingers twitched nervously brushing against the cold hilts of the pistols in their holsters, reflecting sunlight off the metal. Strapped to her upper thigh was her ever-present medical satchel, a faint clink of glass making it's presence known with each step, an inventory of ten needles, a spool of thread, ripped fabric, and a small bottle of medical alcohol snuggly wrapped within the leather casing of the satchel. The satchel itself was around the size of a pistol holster, nothing too burdensome. It had become a prized equipment piece in many a mission.

Eventually she came to a halt, as a strict-looking woman was questioning a brunette solider nothing too odd about that picture. However, the other operative was an odd duck to say the least; with a shock of white hair on top of his head and attire. The gears slowly clicked into place as she recalled where she had heard of such a man, in less than kind terms as drunken MPs traded stories of their various sergeants. Apparently this 'Thomas' was quite the taskmaster..although under proper terms it would Sergeant, Auber, if her recollections were correct. This information was also supplemented by her sneaking peeks into her father's office..the perks of being the daughter of an administrator so it seemed. Not exactly ethical, but her curiosity of thick secretive files got the best of her. These were only quick glimpses to curb her need. It had not gotten her in trouble yet..

Walking up until she was beside the former MP, but at a reasonable distance as she caught the tail-end of his question "I believe, that is to be the Sergeant, ahead. Sergeant, I mean sir. ..". Her face flushed as the realization that if her memory was incorrect, she may have just ruined her entire first impression in front her potential superiors and comrades. Then it dawned on her why would a Sergeant be asking about an equal officer..oh no..

Eris's eye caught the sight of a young man around her age approaching the group after her inquiry to Asura. She looked up past him, her eyes landing on the young man's as another young woman appeared as he asked about Sergeant Leingod. The girl said something, but Eris didn't catch it. Instead, she gave Asura a glance and a nod to fall in with the other senior members as she approached the two new arrivals.

"At attention!" She shouted.

Everyone behind her who was a senior member instantly stopped what they were doing and snapped to the Survey Corps attention position. Back straight, arms straight and at their sides, heads held high, and chins forward.

Eris watched the two new arrivals to gauge the speed of their reaction to her order.

Asura shrugged at Eris’s question. “Could be better, could be worse.” He stated. He hated the question ‘how are you?’ mainly because people weren’t really asking. It was more rhetorical than anything, and giving anything more than a vague answer like ‘fine’ or ‘alright’ was taboo and worthy of several seconds of awkward silence. Don’t bother asking questions you don’t want answers to, or at least, that’s the way Asura felt about the entire matter. He was glad to hear that his slight tardiness was going to be overlooked today on account of the two new recruits being late, so that put him in a slightly better mood than ‘uncaringly sarcastic’. Eris then launched into an almost apologetic rant about the dictorials of training and Asura simply shrugged at the entire thing. “If I was sitting on my ass the entire time, I’d probably shoot myself out of boredom. Anything’s better than nothing.” Asura stated, his words coming out low and void of interest as he looked to where Eris’s head suddenly turned. He didn’t bother asking any questions about it though, if Eris felt the need to share she would.

It was about this time that someone came up behind him and asked about the very person he was talking about. Asura looked back, his eyes taking in the man but broadcasting none of his thoughts as another woman happened to come up behind the other man. Everyone was trying to play catch up today it seemed. She correctly told the man who the Sergeant was, and Asura gave a small huff. “The fuck you supposed to be, a desperado?” Asura said, looking at the man in the trench coat. Despite his words, his tone almost indicated that he was legitimately serious about the question. He didn’t see a need for the trench coat, it would simply get in the way with the ODM gear when push came to shove. Whatever, he wasn’t here to babysit and if the man decided he liked style over practicality then that was his problem.

He then realized that the smaller looking woman called that man a Sergeant, and Asura paused for a split second to wonder if he had overstepped his bounds. Too late to pull anything back, might as well plough ahead with my head down. Asura thought to himself as Eris looked back to him and motioned for him to join the other senior members of the group. Asura gave a shrug, breaking off from the trio to join the other members who were more or less simply gawking at the new recruits. “Newbies?” Axel asked, stretching his shoulders slightly as everyone more or less started to group together. Asura simply nodded as he made sure all of his gear was good to go. “What’re they like?” He asked, and Asura stopped for a moment to look at him through half closed eyes.

“Do I look like a psychic? If so, please tell me, I can probably make a fortune giving people false prophecies.” Both Axel and Tyler glared at him slightly. Asura shrugged. “I’ve known them exactly as long as you’ve known them.” After his gear was all settled, he made an effort to walk over to Greg and snap a hand under his chin, forcing his head up. “And try to at least fend off the inevitable sexual harassment charge for the day Greg.” The man gave a smile, but unfortunately Asura was being serious. For now, the rest of the group simply double checked their gear and inspected the newbies...some more blatantly than others.

Eris watched and listened to the exchange going on behind her after she had called "At attention!", and was highly displeased. She narrowed her eyes and turned around, walking over to the ones who were still talking. Asura, Greg, and the brothers. Eris walked over to Asura first, who still had Greg's chin in his hand as if he were instructing him on something.

She had no time for this.

She launched her hand out and grabbed Asura's wrist, giving it a hard twist up and towards his shoulder as she kicked his legs out from under him and flattened him on the ground. As a courtesy, she used her free hand to support his head so he didn't crack his skull on the Wall. A bit harsh, but she wasn't about to let him just ignore her orders like that as if they didn't mean anything or carry weight in this Squadron... Her Squadron.

"When I give an order Asura, it is to be followed." She said, letting go of his wrist and setting his head down on the wall.

"If I call for attention, that means: shut up, stop moving, and listen to what I have to say next because chances are it's important. Blabbering and pretending to be a tough guy with the people who are supposed to be your teammates is unacceptable, and I won't tolerate such insubordination in my Squad. As far as your membership in this Squad, all of these men are your seniors and you will treat them with the respect they deserve. As Squad Leader, if I feel disciplinary action is needed to keep them in line, I will do what I must when the time arrives. But discipline in this Squad is not your job nor is it up to you to try and intervene in a matter you have no control over in the first place. Ignore my orders and speak to your Squad mates like that again, and I'll see to it that you are thrown out of the Corps with not even a penny to your name."

She stood up, keeping an eye on him as she did so before snapping her attention to the others who all went back to attention.

"That goes double for you three. You all should know better than to test my patience by now. You've all been a part of my Squad since it was formed. I expect better out of you. Is that clear?"

They all gave a unified "Yes ma'am!" and saluted.

She turned her attention back to the two new arrivals.

"Hopefully this unfortunate demonstration has taught you two a lesson abut who is in command here and what I expect out of you. I don't usually go so far as to put you on your back like I just did for Asura here, but if my orders are ignored as if they weren't even given, that's something I won't tolerate. So long as you follow what orders I give you and show your teammates the proper respect, we won't have any problems. If you blatantly disrespect one another or try to posture up to someone within the Squad, I'll give you a solid reminder of what such meaningless and pathetic gestures mean. Is that understood you two?" She asked firmly.

"I believe, that is to be the Sergeant, ahead. Sergeant, I mean sir. .." The owner of the voice was a petite woman looking only a few years younger than himself. Her cheeks were flustered, probably from the exertion of climbing the wall. Thomas gave a short exhale accompanied by a short lived wry smile. Sergeant...he missed the title, hopefully he'd be getting it back after some things were cleared up. "Just private, ma'am." The MP embedded the use of "ma'am" and "sir" into it's members. "Private Auber"

So the woman standing in front of him was to be Sergeant Leingod. His luck couldn't have landed anything much better, well nothing better that would be realistic. Thomas's thoughts were interrupted by one of the individuals in the premises, most likely to be in the Rosary squad.
“The fuck you supposed to be, a desperado?” The guy looked like he was all bark at first glance, but closer examination unearthed the dozens of scars scattered on his person. That was usually the effect of a hard fighting style. Thomas liked the odds of the guy holding up against his own counter-offensive tactics. Paying extra close attention during the hand to hand combat drills and lessons really had their pay offs. But he hoped it wouldn't come to that, a history of good behavior wasn't something he'd like to throw out because of some pissy bastard.

Leingod's command of attention wasn't well heeded by the members of her squad. Insubordination wasn't uncommon in some areas of the MP (areas he wasn't part of, thank God), but Thomas didn't expect that in the Survey Corps. Thomas was sure that he was the first to snap to attention and watched with content as the Sergeant flattened the scared man, named Asura. She then went on with a lecture about following orders and whatnot. Not that it would ever result in a life or death situation. Not in the Survey Corps. That was reserved for the Military Police, and the Garrison. Leingod then turned her attention to himself and the petite girl. Sure, he listened, but Thomas had his fill with these talks long before the Survey Corps. He caught a question as the Sergeant ended her statement.

"Yes Sergeant!" Training, taught to reply in a clear firm tone to superiors. Addressing them by rank was also required, save for officers, who were all refereed to as "sir" or "ma'am." That could be confusing when you're already drilled to speak to civilians in a manner where you add "sir" and "ma'am" in substitute to names or other tittles. Then again, most of the shabbier MP members would tend to "forget" that when speaking to civies. Thomas wasn't one of them, so he'd have to be rid of that habit before the others got too confused.

The internal screaming came to a resounding halt as the private gently corrected her followed by a faint smile. Exhaling quietly under her breath as his attention was distracted by the tangle of limbs of some unfortunate soul thoroughly greeting the ground face first by a boisterous Sergeant Leingod. Said soul would definitely have bruising after that takedown, then again it was possible this was the way of punishing insubordination. Her back stiffened without hesitation as the fiery woman barked out simple guidelines for those under her command, in the language of medical protocol it would be "I am the head of this operation, don't cut, stitch or bandage without my word and you may leave this tent with all your limbs...". The woman would had made a ferocious medic if her mind ever changed from it's state of violence and blades.

Snapping her heels together and giving a quick salute, parroting Private Auber with a softer tone "Yes Sergeant". Her eyes once again drifted to the man known as Asura giving him a quick once over. Scars littered the man's visible skin, and the hard style of fighting gave her the faint impression of a guard dog that had been beaten into perfection. Such methods were looked down upon by many, her father included. A faint smile came on her face as she recollected the furious scolding given to her by her father after word of her first medical situation took a drastic turn. Apparently knocking out someone with your fist, in order to prevent further damage to an already broken leg was frowned upon. Said 'patient' gave her the coldest looks for weeks on end, mellowing out as she was only one with proper training to actually tend to the break with less gentle hands.

Bringing her focus back to the present as she timidly met the gaze of her commanding officer before speaking up quietly "If I may Sergeant, if you looked into my file you could see I am qualified as a medic. If that man you just disciplined will be slowed down by any accidental injuries, I could attempt to speed up the healing process. Not that he should forget his mistakes so quickly..Ma'am..". Her voice was courteous, but at the same cautious treading carefully as if trying to not provoke an angry bear. Still this was a chance to prove her usefulness to the entire squad, not just to her own AP unit...

Eris watched the responses of her new members, and was fairly well satisfied with the promptness of them. However, the man, Thomas... Something about his response told her he could present an issue later on if left unchecked. She didn't think it was any kind of angry or untoward behavior problem, but rather one of indifference. Buried beneath his response was the tone of one who was tired of having to listen, tired of having to respond, tired of being ordered around.

Or perhaps she was just hearing things?

Then the girl spoke up. Lucretia. Eris had read their files thoroughly before their addition, as was required of her as the commanding officer. As she listened to Lucretia tell of her medical skills, a sly smile crossed Eris' lips.

"So you want to prove your medical abilities, Lucretia?" She asked in an unexpectedly calm and soft voice, despite the sly smile.

Eris removed one of her blades and held it up to Lucretia.

"Very well, then please do demonstrate the efficiency of your practice," she said.

Eris then placed the blade down across her forearm, digging in a little and slicing her flesh open with a slight grunt of effort before sheathing the blade and letting the blood run down her arm. She made sure not to cut too deep or slice any muscle tissue, but she made a sizable skin tear for Lucretia to deal with.

"Take care of this cut as fast as you can, please." She said, the smile returning to her face.

Asura had a nasty habit of not really respecting his immediate superiors. Most of the time they were pompous assholes who got their position through political manoeuvring or family relationships. The ones worth their salt were few and far between, and about half way to the ground Asura was wondering if Eris actually fit that bill or if this was going to be another case of ‘Do the job and get out’.

Smashing his back on the wall with a loud thud and a slight ache in his wrist, he winced slightly as pain shot up through his spine and arm, and resisted the urge to smile. It hurt, but in a good way. He had no idea why he was like that, wired differently was all he guessed. She immediately lashed into him verbally, reminding him just who was in charge of this outfit, as if he didn’t already know. The favoritism was running strong in this troop though, as apparently people who held the exact same rank as him were somehow his seniors. He scoffed but didn’t say anything as she continued her reprimand. He could understand the ‘not following orders’ bit, since he tended to...well...not do that unless he gave an even sideways damn about the objective at hand. What he did care about though was having the sergeant ridicule him, a corporal, in front of a couple of privates for nothing more than what seemed like posturing to him. A simple verbal warning would have sufficed, instead she chose to put him flat on his ass with a surprise attack. Congrats, you have the authoritarial judgement of an abusive stepfather Asura thought to himself as she continued. When she was finally finished and turned towards the privates once more, Asura stood with a purposeful slowness to him.

Despite everything that happened, the only given detail that he was even partially angry at the entire ordeal was that his eyes were locked onto the back of Eris’s head for more than a couple seconds as he made to move back in line with the rest of the senior members. Her threats didn’t really mean anything to him, she didn’t have the authority to kick him out of the Survey Corps, only officers could do that, not the enlisted. She could file a recommendation, sure, but there would be political bullshit to slow down the system and he felt like he had a pretty good chance of winning that should the situation come to a head. He cleared his thoughts with a slight sigh. There was no need for him to be thinking like that, despite a lingering soreness in his wrist that was almost demanding that he defend himself physically.

The new recruit said something about tending to his injuries, and Asura gave a slight scoff at the idea. He would have said ‘piss off’ if he thought that Eris wouldn’t turn around and give him a wedgie or something to that effect. Not counting the fact that he had a twisted view on pain, that little mix up wasn’t even worth checking the injuries himself. A bruise here or there maybe, but if that was enough to warrant a visit from a medical professional he’d wear a dress and call himself Miranda. Instead though, Eris decided to do something that even Asura raised an eyebrow at. She cut open her forearm in order to test the new recruit’s medical training. That seemed like something he would do, although for an entirely different purpose, so watching his sergeant do it seemed a bit weird to him. Besides, in his mind treating a broken leg would be a lot different than treating a simple cut. Slap a cloth on it and walk it off, at least that’s what Asura did 90% of the time.

For the time being, Asura stood with his hands clasped behind his back, in line with the other senior members of the group. Although there was a noticeable difference in stance, as theirs was rigid at attention and Asura was infinitely more relaxed as he rolled his shoulders to loosen up some of the soreness from the scuffle.

"If I may Sergeant, if you looked into my file you could see I am qualified as a medic. If that man you just disciplined will be slowed down by any accidental injuries, I could attempt to speed up the healing process. Not that he should forget his mistakes so quickly..Ma'am..".

Out of the newbies there were a lot of different types. Turned out that girl was the one that was too eager. Those types could get a bit irritating after some time, but they would grow out of it by then in most cases. Thomas expected the Sergeant to give a gentle rejection of the offer, but instead she did something completely unexpected. She cut her own arm with her sword. He was reminded of an old joke a colleague had told him in the MP. "If she's hot and single, then she's probably crazy."

But Sergeant Leingod's sanity was in serious question in Thomas's mind. Maybe later he could ask one of the guys who had been here for a while. Speaking of the others, that man, Asura. He was still in action of insubordination, rolling his shoulders and letting his back relax. As Lucretia was asked to treat the self inflicted wound, Thomas jumped to his own solutions.

He had learned some basic first aid during training, and actually put it to use a couple times. Most cuts could be treated with some clothe bandages wrapped tightly around the area. Another option would be to manually give unremitting pressure to the wound through the unwrapped bandages, but the tight bandage was preferred. This was mainly because this allowed both hands to be free, meaning the wounded person could still accomplish tasks to some extent.

If the bleeding didn't stop soon, or the wound was deep, he had seen field medics apply some sort of paste from a plant. Apparently the paste helped the blood to clot. The entire time, Thomas kept his rigid stance. The only movement of his body was the rare blink. It would probably be a good idea to try to put the Sergeant together soon. After all, it may be days until some recruit comes in. First things first, would Leingod be softer or harder on him for being a Private? Actually, when thinking back, the most pressing question at the moment would be: Is she sane?

Lucretia Fennel

Lucretia's mouth dropped open for a split moment, but it shut quickly at her commanding officer's response to appraising her skills as a medic. This woman was clearly unhinged, but clearly had authority over her men and took people's claims to heart. Crimson blood flowed freely from the wound dripping onto the pristine Wall beneath their feet. Within seconds, Lucretia's hands got to work, one hand roughly straightening out her commanding officer's arm and the other digging into her medic bag. Needles clinked onto the stone as did stray bandages of pristine cotton. Finally her hand clutched its prize as a small glass bottle filled with liquid of sorts as the cork was popped off by the grip of her teeth.

~Hope you aren't a screamer.~ Lucretia thought hopefully as the pure alcohol dripped over the open wound washing away the blood and cleaning the wound. Once the liquid finally came to a halt, the bottle was placed back into the bag as Lucretia muttered "Not doubting the cleanness of your blade Ma'am but I have found using medical alcohol on an open wounds helps speed up the process". The sound of fabric being cut echoed her statement as a segment of bandage was sliced by a knife and neatly wrapped around the forearm. With a small nod to her commanding officer she said calmly "That should be changed every twelve hours. If you feel any stiffness or feel feverish come and see me for some herbs that should help with that.". Taking a few steps back from the fiery redhead before matching up with her fellow Private and merely saluting quickly. Her talents were not in words, but in action and knowing her luck she would provoke a negative reaction from her commanding officer.

Her hand drifted into her bag, mentally taking supply of remaining medical supplies and what she would need to restock up on. Bundles of herbs neatly tucked away inside sewn in pockets, around five small bottles of medical alcohol, now down to only four after her captain's indulgent nature, needles and bandages. All the weapons she needed on a battlefield aside from her ever present pistols and knives, besides who better to dangle the string of life than a medic? She understood the human anatomy and how organs worked. Yet human nature such as the temporary insanity of her commanding officer to prove her abilities was a complex trap that she could find herself tangled up in. Hence her reasons for keeping to herself, it was just better to see people from a clinical standpoint, than a personal emotional one..at least that's how she kept herself after all her years of training.

Era watched as the girl almost literally jumped into action to help with her self inflicted injury. The girl first straightened her arm and let a liquid drip onto the wound. Eris' lips tightened for an instant as the pain registered, but relaxed shortly thereafter. Her tolerance for pain was naturally very high for some reason. Always had been. This stung like Hell, but wouldn't be enough to cause her any discomfort beyond the expected amount which she could deal with just fine. The arm was then bandaged, cleanly at that, and the girl took a step back to indicate her completion of her task with a salute to end it.

Eris brought her arm around and inspected the wrapping. Turning her arm this way and that to see the whole thing, stretching her arm out and back, side to side, rotating her wrist, extending her elbow and retracting it. Finally, after a few moments of silence, she looked to Lucretia and gave her a nod.

"Not bad Lucretia. Not bad at all," she said as she looked back towards Jim who gave her a nod.

She nodded in return.

"All right then. Since everyone is here it's time to move on. Get to the bottom of the wall and there will be horses waiting to take us to the Forest of Giant Trees. As everyone knows there's a training facility there with dummy Titans. Targets are on the achilles tendons, the wrists and forearms, hamstrings, and the nape of the neck. Achilles tendons to immobilize their feet and prevent them from walking. Wrists and forearms to prevent them from being able to use their hands to grab you. Hamstrings to render their entire leg below the knee useless. And the nape of the neck for the killing blow."

She took a moment to pat her blades.

"Everyone with Titan Slayer Gear is expected to "kill" five Titans by destroying all available targets without touching the ground. If a single strand of your hair so much as grazes solid Earth, you start over. Trees and their branches do not count, so they may be used if necessary to reset your angle of attack and resume your assault. We strike targets in Training Area A. Everyone in Anti-Personnel Gear is to "kill" a minimum of fifteen human targets and five predatory animal targets scattered throughout Training Area B."

She took a brief second to tap the gas cylinders.

"If your gas is anything but full, take the time now to replace them using the contents of the crate, there." She said, pointing to an open crate full of freshly filled gas cylinders.

"If everyone is clear on the objective, then let's get moving." She said.

Jim, the brothers, and Greg all gave a loud "Yes ma'am!" and saluted. With that, Eris and the senior members leaped off the wall and used the ODM gear to slow their descent as they reached the bottom. Eris hopped up into the horse saddle of the lead mare, and waited for everyone to join her. Once they all had, she led them out on a roughly thirty minute ride to the Forest of Giant Trees, and another ten minutes through them to the Training Facility. Training Area A, for the Titan Slayers, was on the left side of the entrance while Training Area B was on the right side. A large four feet thick cement barrier separated the training areas so that bullets from the Anti-Personnel units wouldn't harm the Titan Slayers during their training. Also, reinforced bullet-proof glass chambers along the wall to provide observers and superiors the chance to watch the AP specialists in action.

Eris hopped off the mare at the gate, tying her to a post and waiting for the Titan Slayer units to join her at Training Area A. That would be Jim, the brothers, and Asura. Greg and Thomas would be over at Training Area B, presumably with Lucretia. Eris still didn't know quite what to make of a medical specialist in ODM gear. Wherever she ended up, Eris would be watching. She was going to observe the progress of both sides from one of the chambers, keeping track of how everyone was doing. She gave them the order to wait for two minutes from the moment she closed the chamber door before starting training. She walked into the chamber, waited a second, and then closed the door, thus starting the two minute wait.

She sat down on a bench inside with a clipboard, facing first the AP specialists, as they would finish first given the nature of their work compared to the Titan Slayers who had to take more time to set up a single strike versus a trigger for a bullet.

3... 2... 1... BING!!

The time to start training was now, and Eris watched them like a hawk the whole time.

The medic did her job, the Sergeant did her job of appraising said job, and everyone else was left to be bored out of their minds until this little display ended. At least, that was Asura’s line of thinking as his eyes drifted more towards the forest rather than the two recruits in front of him. While he wasn’t overly fond of training against giant wooden dummies on a regular basis, it was better than nothing and so he actually found himself wanting Eris to hurry up just so they could get started. His blades were itching to be used, and since turning them against his fellow Survey Corps members was generally considered ‘bad’, he wanted to hurry up and get out there. He stopped his reverie long enough to look back at Eris and the other two, who hadn’t been properly introduced to everyone yet, finish their little medical training. Lucretia was apparently the medic’s name, and Asura committed it to memory by repeating it several times in his head like he did with every member he ever worked with. Should push comes to shove, and the Titans come back, he didn’t want to end up yelling the wrong name in combat and getting someone killed.

Finally Eris, seemingly pleased with the little bandaid she had on, listed their activities for the day. Standard training regiment including 3D maneuvering and kill zone training. Kill 5 Titans without touching the ground, the ultimate ‘floor is lava’ game if he ever heard one. For the AP members, it was kill 15 something or other, Asura stopped listening when it didn’t concern him anymore. With her orders given, with a reminder to stock up on gas, she ordered them to move out. “Yes Sergeant.” Asura stated in a low drawl, forgoing the salute and simply opting to quickly move out. He walked with the rest of the senior members and quickly dropped off the wall to the waiting steeds down below.

The ride to the training ground was long and uneventful, so much so Asura nearly fell asleep on the way there. He needed to go to bed earlier. First the bench, now a horse. Chances are he would pass out for a nap halfway through one of his strikes. When they did finally get to the grounds, Asura tied his horse to a post like the rest of them, listened to what Eris had to say, and boosted himself up into the trees to wait for the timer to count down. Asura, along with the other members of the Titan Slayers all stood on one massive branch overlooking the rest of the forest. Jim stared at his watch intently while Asura’s eyes moved through the trees in order to best ascertain where the dummies would be this time. Maintenance crews came out to fix them up after so much training, move them around, and generally keep the Survey Corps on their toes.

“Mark.” Jim stated, jumping from the tree and boosting off into the distance. The brothers followed close behind, taking another direction to tackle the training dummies together. Asura didn’t jump, merely let himself fall off the edge and then shooting out with his 3DM gear to speed in a direction. He wasn’t nearly as good with the 3DM gear as he thought he should be, adequate at best, but he was making a note to work on it as much as he could.

It wasn’t long before he found his first target, devoid of the other members of the Titan Killer squad. Pads lined the soft spots that would appear on a Titan should one show it’s face. He could make this quick, spin around and go straight for the nape of the neck in a quick and clean slice, but that wouldn’t help him do what he really wanted. He had some frustration to get out of his system, and so he continued with his typical routine, which was to slice every single soft spot before ‘killing’ the target.

Asura launched himself at the target, aiming at the achilles tendon’s first as his first pass got him so low to the ground that if he were to fully extend his legs, he would be running. He reared his swords back, doing a quick 360 spin that carved two deep gashes into the padding meant to imitate the toughness and durability of Titan skin. He fired past after the attack, briefly bracing himself on the side of a tree before launching back again and doing the same thing to the other foot. In theory, if this was a real Titan, it would now be forced to crawl until it regenerated. Flying past the dummy once more, he repeated his previous attack to swipe at the hamstrings, slicing cleanly through them as he did so.

On his last pass of the legs, slicing through the last hamstring, he quickly redirected his attack upwards as one of his grapples embedded itself in what would have been a Titan’s face and pulled him upwards. He sliced through the wrist of one of the arms on his way past, dislodging his grapple and allowing his own momentum and gravity to take him over the dummy and past the other wrist, which he gouged out as well. The cut wasn’t clean, jagged from mainly a lack of momentum, but still deep enough to warrant a wound. He launched out with his 3DM gear, and boosted himself into a tree to land with a bit of a slide on a wide branch.

Now came the killing blow, one that he had to ensure worked. He had confidence in his ability to consistently pull it off, but these were unmoving targets, only capable of giving the enemy a nasty splinter should they be careless. Asura felt like this was slightly inadequate, but didn’t have a proper alternative to the situation and so kept his mouth shut about it. His eyes locked on the nape of the neck before jumping from the tree and shooting a grapple to an adjacent tree. His speed increased, pushing his gas most likely a little further than necessary as he readied his blades to strike. He passed by the neck, slashing as he did so and gouging out the padding as he went by. The attack went deep, without a doubt a killing blow, but it might have been a bit much as Asura wobbled slightly in his flight path that required a mid-air adjustment, the resistance from the blades and padding slowing him down and throwing him off course. He shot out with his gear once more, finding purchase in a tree once again as he landed on another branch with yet another bit of a slide.

He looked at his handy work for a moment, noticing the smooth cuts into the padded areas to mark a well done strike, with the exception of the neck and one wrist, which were more jagged than the others. He frowned slightly. He had to remember that gravity wasn’t enough sometimes, and to boost towards the target even if he was already falling. The neck he simply got a little overzealous and needed to pull himself back emotionally from it. With the mental notes made, Asura looked through the forest to figure out a path to another dummy, and with a quick hop and boost, was racing into the forest to find his next target.

Alcohol! Thomas had a feeling that he was forgetting something. He should have remembered, especially because of an incident close to the start of his military career. Some greeny in the MP forgot to disinfect a wound on his Sergeant in the heat of battle. As a result the Sergeant had to get his leg amputated. Not fun.

The medical episode past, Thomas listened intently for the real deal. Sergeant Leingod gave a refresher on target areas on titans, not that it would ever be important for him. He kept in mind the important stuff though, minimum of fifteen human targets and five predatory animal targets. He thought the predatory animal targets were a nice touch. After a reminder of gas things got moving. He wasn't sure what was up with the saluting, that wasn't common in the MP for sergeants, unless the guy had some sort of medal. Thomas followed suit anyways, a bit hesitantly if anything.

A runner approached Thomas, handing him the AP ODM gear and offering to take anything back to his quarters. Thomas handed over the rifle, gunpowder pouch, ammo pouch and bayonet, keeping the revolver, enough for a reload and several knives. The ODM gear felt a bit awkward at first, but the practice of using it to help instruct and supervise made its impact. He descended behind the senior members of the squad and got onto his own horse. After a ride slightly longer than 30 minutes, the group arrived at the training area. Tying the horse to a post, Thomas strode towards the right side accompanying a man who called himself Greg. Approaching the entrance, Thomas pulled the dual handguns from their holsters. They sure were fun to use. The guns were air powered, so less noise, recoil, and no muzzle flash. Reloading was a cinch too, just screw on a new barrel and you've got two more lives in your hands.

After the signal was activated, Thomas didn't jump in right away. In his mind, the situation would be best addressed if they all stuck together. Continuous volley tactics should do the trick (one person fires, then another, then another. Reloading occurs while others are firing). If this were a real situation, continuous fire would ensure that no one would break through when facing a large number of foes. If facing a small group, a concentrated volleying tactic would suffice. Finally, if the targets were few and spread abroad, it may be a good idea to divide and scan their own individual sectors. Thomas went ahead and asked Greg what the best plan of action would be.

Greg turned to Thomas and gave him a smirk.

"The targets are spread out, indicating a non-unified and not well organized force. They'll be random and unpredictable in a real fight, so think about that as you engage."

He gave a huff as he grabbed his own gear and prepared to engage.

"Good luck man. And have some fun with it." He said as he rocketed forward with his ODM gear and prepared to fire.

"Yee-Haw!" He yelled as he lined up his first shot and fired, shooting through the upper chest.

Eris watched each member as they began taking out their targets. Every time a kill was made, she jotted it down. Notes about technique, skill with ODM gear, mistakes, poor angles of attack, rushed attacks, and more were all taken note of. It was a frantic exercise for her, keeping pace with all of them, but she managed.

Two minutes ticked by fairly quickly, and she was stopped from her duties by a small tremor in the ground.

She stopped writing, sitting perfectly still as she felt another tremor. She set her clipboard down, and another tremor shook it on the bench. She stood up, kneeling down and touching the ground with her fingertips. Another tremor. Stronger this time. The Titan Shifters were forbidden from entering Titan form anywhere outside of the Walls without an escort, and whenever an escort saw a Titan Shifter transform they popped a blue smoke signal from their flare gun to let nearby friendlies know a friendly Titan was now in action. She stepped out of the small confined room and used her ODM gear to reach the top of a tree nearby to the entrance, forgetting all about the clipboard duties as she climbed to the top and searched for blue smoke.

... Nothing.

Eris' heart skipped a beat as she descended to the ground, touching down softly and calling for everyone to cease their activities and stand still. As soon as the order was received and adhered to, she listened.

... *Thump*... *Thump*... *Thump*...

Tremor after tremor told her this was real, and they were growing louder and stronger.

"Everyone form up on me, immediately! Prepare your weapons and stand by! We have uninvited company!" She ordered, drawing her blades and preparing the use of her ODM gear.

... They were finally back, and she would be ready when they showed their faces. This time, she was no helpless child. This time, she was a Survey Corps Squad Leader and more than capable of killing those wretched walking hunks of mindless flesh.

Jump, hook, gas, shoot. Flip, land, kneel, shoot. Using the ODM gear was fun, not to mention the faster fire rate of the replaceable barrels on the pistols, but it just wasn't the same. At least he made a new discovery. At one point, Thomas was yet to reload, when he realized one of his shots was non lethal towards a target. Thinking quickly, he propelled on of the grappling hooks through the target's throat. Messy, but it got the job done. He even managed to practice some of his grounded tactics and stealth maneuvers, usually reserved for when you ran out of gas, but commonplace in the MP.

Suddenly, the ground began to shake. At first, Thomas just thought it was one of those titan shifters...but there was no flare. This was impossible, why??? How did they come back? It was unbelievable! Someone must have made a mistake and forgot to shoot the flare. The idiot.

Then, the Sergeant's voice bellowed above his thoughts. This was the real deal. Once again familiar with the ODM, Thomas found the Sergeant in a flash. His heart was racing. He wasn't trained for this! He was Military Police! Military Police dealt with PEOPLE. And even though he was technically Survey Corps, he was an AP specialist. Anti PERSONAL. Titans weren't people. Nevertheless, he went ahead with reloading his pistols and checking his air tanks. He still had the majority of his air left, but Leingod would surely send him away...right? After all, it was a proven fact that guns were no use against titans. That is, unless you shot their eyes...Oh no. He did have a use. Meanwhile the scarred man was buzzing with excitement. Thomas looked at him like Asura was some alien, but gathered himself again. It wasn't his problem if a guy enjoyed the idea of being eaten alive.

Eris watched and Asura and Thomas formed up on her, and was glad they did so as quickly as they had. Jim, Greg, and the brothers all gathered up as well, waiting for their orders.

Asura asked her what the plan was, so she answered.

"The plan is we wait for them to show their ugly faces and use what you've learned in your training to kill them all!" She said forcefully.

She glanced over her shoulder at Thomas and Greg.

"I want you two and Lucretia in the trees calling out where the Titans are coming from. If we're going to engage them effectively, the last thing we need is one sneaking up on us. Stay out of reach, and if an Abnormal arrives to try and climb up to reach you, call us immediately and we'll deal with the problem." She said, looking towards Jim and Asura as Jim nodded firmly.

She looked back towards the training area.

"Lucretia! Get over here!" She yelled.

It was at that moment that the first Titan made its appearance. Literally breaking through one of the trees before them, the rather dopey eyed brute stared at them with a half smile and one eye slightly lower than the other... Sickening.

Eris' eyes flared with anger and seething hatred upon seeing that kind of face again. Her grip on her blades was so tight her knuckles were literally tuning white because of the lack of blood flow and how much the skin was being stretched. Her mouth was curled in a snarl with her teeth bared. She took a stance as the Titan slowly trudged forward, that smile remaining the entire time.

It took its time, not bothering to rush them or anything. Just one step. Two steps. Three steps.

"NOW!!!" She yelled!

Jim and herself instantly rocketed up towards the tree tops with their ODM gear to get the high ground, so to speak, and shot down in unison towards the nape of the neck as the Titan kept its focus on those who weren't as quick to react to her order. The Titan felt the impact of the hooks in its back, and was too slow to turn its head as both Eris and Jim slashed in opposing directions, just barely missing one another, and cleaved a large hunk of flesh out of its neck. The Titan almost instantly went limp, and fell to the ground as Eris and Jim landed on the ground and swiveled around to see where the next attack would be coming from.

Eris looked up towards the rest of her Squad.

"I refuse to report any casualties in Rosary Squadron! All of us are going to fight, and all of us are going to live! That's an order!!" She yelled.

Personally I would have listed out some sort of tactics, maybe even pairings, possibly even a plan of retreat but that’s just me. Asura thought to himself as they listened to the Titan got closer to the group. Of course, she immediately turned to the AP crew and ordered them out of the way. A respectable decision, but it still limited their force. Half their crew were AP Corp, which meant it would be up to the five of them to deal with however many Titans would be forcing their way through the forest to get to their position. If an Aberrant did show its face, they would be in trouble. Asura didn’t believe anyone here had been around when the last Titan disappeared, so they were all going into this relatively fresh.

Then he saw it.

The Titan stumbled into the open, it’s facial features misshapen and it’s stature enormous. It towered over them akin to a God, albeit a drunk and mentally incapable God, but a God none the less. Asura was stuck in a trance as he stared at the creature, wondering what in God’s name could have created it, or if some sort of evolutionary fuck up had pushed this thing out of something’s womb. He had heard stories, seen pictures, listened to veteran’s descriptions of fighting it, but nothing was as good as getting a good look at the creature that damn near made mankind extinct.

And Asura could do nothing but see it with unfettered disgust.

Eris called the order to attack, causing her and Jim to launch themselves at the singular Titan. With a practiced ease, they crossed paths behind the neck of the Titan, cleaving through the skin and slicing it’s spinal connection. Asura watched it’s entire body go limp and crash to the floor before hearing Lucretia yell from the trees. He, along with the two Brennan Brothers, turned towards the east and saw the Titans she was yelling about. Three of them waddled forward, their grins and smiles mimicking happiness but just coming across as nothing more than creepy. Asura grimaced slightly. More Titans were appearing, and they were only one squad. There weren’t enough to warrant a full blown retreat yet, but he was going to keep his eyes open and listen to see if any more. “Me and Axel have the one on the left!” Tyler stated as he and his brother instantly launched into the trees. Asura started walking towards the one in the middle, while he was certain Jim and Eris would be taking out another one in short order. In that case, his goal wasn’t to kill, but to stall until the others could help him take it out.

But hey, if he had the chance, he was going to take it.

Asura launched himself into the trees, propelling himself forward at an incredible speed and only taking a slight pause to look at the brothers, who seemed to be making literal circles around their Titan. Each pass ended with a deep gash for their target, but until they hit the back of the neck, it would be pointless. Asura looked back at the titan in front of him. The creature didn’t seem to have any lips, its teeth and gums showing completely as patchy blonde hair covered its scalp. The Titan’s dead eyes were transfixed on him as he got closer. He would be lying if he said it wasn’t intimidating, but he didn’t feel fear at this point. This was his chance to test them, his chance to fight, his chance to deal with an urge he had more or less suppressed until this very instance.

He flew by the Titan, it’s outstretched arm reaching for him and missing him by more than a few feet. Prevent it from moving, force it to the ground. Asura thought to himself as he released his gear, allowing himself to fall several meters before using it again. He brought himself close the ground, speeding along with his feet nearly touching the forest floor. The Achilles heel was right there, a single good slice would bring it to it’s knees and prevent it from going after anyone else while the others dealt with their respective Titans. Asura readied his blades, preparing for an attack he had practiced dozens of times before.

Then the Titan moved his foot into his path.

Asura’s eyes went wide slightly as he attempted to course correct, shooting his gear out but meeting nothing but air as he twisted his body mid-flight to reduce the damage. He collided partially with the Titan’s shin, sending him sprawling to the floor and rolling several yards away as his breath left him. I knew I should have made the suggestion for the targets to be mobile. Asura thought as he took those precious few seconds to regain his wits and air, looking up in time to see the Titan having turned towards and reaching for him. He took a quick look around, ensuring that his gear would make contact this time and fired it off. He scraped against the ground slightly before he was brought back into the air. Blood clouded his vision as a few scrapes on his head forced the crimson liquid into his eyes. He wiped it off as best he could with the back of his hand mid flight, not bothering to stop and wait on anything else. He shifted directions, heading back towards the Titan with full speed. This time his target was something else entirely.

Asura wasn’t a guy to yell when he was attacking, never feeling the need to really ‘pump himself up’. So when he sliced clean through the Titan’s eyes, creating a massive gouge that blinded the creature, it was eerily silent. The creature shot it’s hands into it’s eyes, effectively blinding it. Asura didn’t waste any time, landing vertically on a tree and only taking a moment to pick his next destination before jumping off and shooting off again. Once more, he flew along the forest floor, but without it’s ability to see, it wouldn’t be stopping Asura again. He sliced clean through the Achilles heel on it’s left foot, and sped past, looking back as the Titan fell to all fours.

It wasn’t long after that that the brothers showed up, passing by each other spinning their blades on the neck of the titan. A mass of flesh flew from where they struck, and the Titan fell completely to the ground. Asura landed in one of the trees once more, wiping the blood off his face again but only helping in smearing it across his features. The pain didn’t bother him, it never bothered him, it was the blinding factor that came with it. Two Titans were down, which left Eris and Jim with theirs. Asura looked off into the forest, waiting for more to emerge. If they kept coming, they wouldn’t be able to hold their ground. That, and someone had to get back and warn the Walls.

For now though, Asura took a breather and kept watch for more Titans that would require his attention.

Eris and Jim launched into action on the third Titan as it reared its ugly face through the trees. The two of them worked as a perfect unit, coordinating their movements with one another as they had in training since the formation of Rosary Squadron. Jim served as the decoy, and Eris was the primary attacker. Jim got the Titan's attention by rolling in front of it, and launching away as it reached down to grab him. Once it was bent forward Eris launched her anchors into the Titan's upper back and shot towards it, landing on its shoulders and cleaving a giant chunk out of the nape of its neck.

The Titan went down, Eris keeping her balance on top of it like a rodeo until it hit the ground. She pulled the anchors free from the Titan's now decaying flesh as she jumped off of it, and then looked up in time to see a new smoke signal from a nearby Squad. The smoke was orange, signaling the arrival of a Titan Shifter.

Eris' mouth curled in a smile filled with fondness and anticipation.

"We've got a Titan Shifter inbound!" She yelled.

Jim's face contorted into a frown, then concern.

"Eris! Look out!!" He yelled.

A Titan sprang towards Eris as if on all fours like a frog leaping for prey. Eris only just saw it in time to jump to one side, but she was hit by its shoulder sending her sprawling across the ground tumbling head over heels for over thirty feet before skidding to a halt. The Titan was on top of her in moments, trapping her beneath its left hand as it opened its jaws and prepared to devour her. She glared up at it defiantly, eyes wide with hatred as if daring it to finish her. But as it lowered its head the trees once again exploded, this time with another Titan rushing forward and grabbing the gaping maw of the Abnormal and tearing it wide open. Eris smiled at the sight of the Titan Shifter's timely arrival, knowing full well who it was thanks to that black hair and those two shining red eyes.

A giant spitting image of his human form... Shadow had arrived.

The Titan Shifter looked down and smashed the nape of the neck of the Abnormal with his foot before looking to Eris.

"There are only six left... I will... Kill the three who are beyond the trees... You kill the three in the trees," he said in a low and raspy voice befitting of a Titan.

Eris nodded.

"Everyone, meet Shadow! He's our Squadron's final member, and our Titan Shifter. Leave the three Titans outside the trees to him and get a bead on those still inside the forest where our ODM gear can serve us against them. Move!!" She yelled, launching herself up into the trees.

Shadow, in the meantime, turned around and headed back out away from the forest towards open ground where three Abnormals were waiting for him.

Eris, Jim, and the two brothers gathered in a group and began to take the high ground as they searched the area for the newest Titans Shadow said were coming. It didn't take long for them to arrive either. Within moments two more Abnormal Titans arrived. One was almost twenty meters in height, much taller than any they'd come across before. It was up on both feet, as usual, but its arms were both behind its back which was strange enough. Hands locked together almost as if it was in imaginary handcuffs, but it made no effort to hide the fact that it was voracious. The first thing it did was bite into the tree Eris and the brothers were hanging from, attempting to eat its way through to make them come down.

The other was a bit more average, only demonstrating the ability to run at high speed but otherwise the typical Abnormal. The two brothers called that they would handle the voracious one while Eris and Jim took the other. It was agreed, and the four of them sprang into action. Jim and Eris expertly maneuvered in and around their target's range and drew its attention so the other would have a chance to strike. It took a few extra attempts than the previous Titans, but as before they were able to take it down without too much difficulty. The brothers, however, were a different story. The voracious Abnormal was able to keep up with their coordinated attacks and continually move its nape out of their range of attack at the last moment. The brothers called for some backup, and Eris was first to arrive. As she drew its attention, nearly getting slammed into a tree by the sudden use of one of its previously immobile arms, the brothers finally managed to hook into its neck and take it down, riding it down like one rides a skateboard.

With the three Titans dealt with, Asura having taken his down as well, it was time to join Shadow in the open.

"All right everyone! Form up on me and let's get out of this forest!" She called.

Once everyone was with her, they grabbed their horses and booked it out of there. The moment they broke the tree line they saw Shadow's Titan form engaged in battle with two Abnormals. One of the Abnormals was a full fifteen meters, the same height as Shadow, and the other was eighteen meters. Shadow's Titan form had both hands up and ready, typical martial arts combat maneuver and was using sophisticated footwork to keep them in line so only one of them could attack at a time. As one of them leaned in to grab him, he stepped aside, grabbed its wrist, and twisted until its arm popped off at the middle of the forearm. With its arm off, and the Abnormal distracted with pain, Shadow slid back a step and performed a spinning hook kick taking its head off as the other came around its former companion. Shadow had just reached a neutral stance when the Titan managed to lunge forward and clamp its jaws down around his right shoulder. Shadow's Titan form flinched, but looked to its aggressor and wrapped both arms around its neck, squeezing in tighter and tighter until its head popped off like a top on a wine bottle, the body going limp almost instantly.

Shadow's Titan form then quickly dispatched the Abnormals by stomping their napes, double checking by ripping the nape out completely by hand and tossing them aside.

Once the two Abnormals were dealt with, the third having been killed a while ago, Shadow looked to his companions as Eris led them to his position. His Titan form knelt down to one knee and began venting steam in all directions. Eris stopped everyone just outside the limit of the steam, and waited patiently for about thirty seconds until Shadow's human form emerged from the nape and jumped down to the ground. He jogged over to Eris, who hopped off her horse to give him a handshake as he looked to his teammates.

"Everyone, this is Shadow. As I mentioned in the forest he's our Titan Shifter. Now, before we do anything further I-"

"Sorry Eris, but there's no time. While we've been dealing with Titans here Wall Maria was attacked by an unknown group of human infiltration forces. The gates were overrun, and many civilian casualties have likely taken place given how quickly they stormed the place. I raced out here to give you the news as fast as I could, but when I saw the bunch of Abnormals I had no choice but to transform to make sure I got here fast enough to deal with them and give you the news."

Jim was first to speak up after that report.

"Shadow, what's the situation back at Wall Maria as far as evacuation and countermeasures?"

Shadow shook his head.

"I don't know. I was already leaving when I saw the attack on the gate behind me once I was already a fair distance away. But I would expect that the Military Police have been deployed, as well as the Survey Corps' Anti-Personnel teams on standby. But they'll need help. The infiltrators were probably disguised as merchants, and from what I saw there were a lot of them. Wall Maria's forces were meager due to a lack of prior threats, so I would guess they could use some help. But from the look of that-" he said, pointing to the distance where other black smoke signals indicating a stream of Abnormals approaching the Wall.

"I'd say our best bet now is to split into groups. The Anti-Personnel units should head back to the Wall and help with clearing out the infiltration forces to retake the gate. If they manage to keep it open the Titans will breach and we'll be right back where we started twenty something years ago. I don't know about you, but I'm not about to let that happen. The other Titan Shifters are on their way to intercept the Abnormals, so I need to join them as soon as possible. Eris? Permission to detach and join the Shifters on the front lines?" He asked.

Eris nodded.

"Go." She ordered.

He nodded, running a distance away from the others before he brought out a small blade from his pocked and slit his palm. A bright stream of lightning shot down from the sky onto Shadow's human form, and his Titan appeared in his place. He roared, shaking the ground, and took off at top speed towards the black smoke in the distance.

Eris, in the meantime, shot an orange smoke signal to let the front lines know another Shifter was on its way.

"All right everyone. We're all going to Wall Maria. We're too small a group to handle any group of Titans on our own, especially out here in the open. Thomas, Lucretia, you two are under Gregory's command as of this moment. You'll head into the city and clear what forces you can safely manage. You spent time training to use your ODM gear around the gate and throughout various areas of the city before graduating the academy, so you should have no trouble maneuvering and taking an advantage over these terrorists. The rest of us will get to the top of the wall and observe the Titans in the area. With luck we won't have much of a job to do, but if not... then our job will be to keep the Titans off the AP specialists until the gate is closed. Now let's get moving!" She ordered.

She hopped back on her horse and they all made their way back to the Wall in Shiganshina District at the southernmost point. It was a long, heart racing thirty minute ride. Once they reached the gate they found one of their worst fears had been realized. The gate itself was in tact, but the mechanism for lowering it from its raised position was completely demolished, meaning the gate was stuck in its raised position allowing easy access for the Titans if they managed to get this far past the Titan Shifters. And already, it looked like that was the case. Red smoke was on the horizon, meaning normal Titans had broken through the front lines and made it within range of the Wall.

Once they made it to the gate, they all left hopped off their horses and ran to it as fast as possible. Luckily for them, one of the Survey Corps AP reserves was waiting for them.

"What's the situation?"

"Ma'am! Unknown terrorist forces have infiltrated the Shiganshina District and are causing mass panic. Civilian casualties are so far reported to be minimal, but there's no telling how long that will last. They've abandoned the gate and are making their way towards the northern gate, presumably to break through the city entirely and make their way to Wall Rose beyond it. So far we've held them back, but I'm not sure where we stand as of this moment. I was ordered to remain here and update anyone who came through."

She nodded.

"Greg, lead Thomas and Lucretia to the battle grounds and keep them safe. Treat those terrorists like any target in your training. Do not think of them as human beings. They are here to kill you. To kill your friends. To kill your family. They don't deserve to live. Now go! Keep Shiganshina safe!" She ordered.

"Yes ma'am! You can count on us. Now let's go you two!" Greg said with enthusiasm.

With that, he led Thomas and Lucretia to the battle grounds within the heart of the city.

"Everyone else, it's the top of the wall for us. We can't let any Titans through that gate until the mechanics figure out how to repair it." She said.

Jim turned, and his face went pale.

"It's too late! Eris, they're in!"

She spun around, and saw that Titans were starting to mass around the gate.

"How the hell did they get here so fast?! Rgh! Never mind! Titan Slayers! Kill them all!! They will NOT do to this city what their predecessors did!!" She ordered, taking out her blades and prepping her ODM gear to attack

Titans, titans, everywhere. Abnormal titans, normal titans, big titans, and bigger titans. This shit was seriously getting out of hand.
"All right everyone! Form up on me and let's get out of this forest!" The sound of the squad sergeant's voice rushed relief through Thomas. Promptly leaving the tree branch on which the former Military Policeman was resting on, he rocketed his way back towards the horses. Riding out of the trees, Thomas spotted a shifter locked in combat with a few other titans, who were dispatched with ease.

After returning to human form, the titan shifter who's name was "Shadow" quickly delivered harrowing news to the squad. A human infiltration force had breached Wall Maria. Who would do such a thing? Obviously resistance melted away, Thomas never had much confidence in the Garrison. And of course, who would stop the enemy forces? None other than the AP members of the Survey Corps. A smile graced the Private's features. He was back on home turf.

"Alright crew, let's get to the city." With that the senior AP member rode full speed with Thomas not far behind. They arrived very quickly, much to the dismay of the exhausted horses. The streets were just about chaos. Bodies littered the streets as did the bullet holes left behind from battles. The movement of the eyelid on a "corpse" immediately caught Thomas' attention. The man instantly raised a pistol, but realizing the Garrison uniform, he lowered it. The man had blood splattered all over his upper chest and neck at closer inspection.

"Are you alright?" Thomas approached the man laying against the wall of a residence.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Are they gone?" The man stood up, brushing himself off. It was then that the Private grabbed the Garrison member's collar, slamming him into the wall of the house.
"What happened to defending this place with your life?! Hiding from the enemy like a fucking coward!"
"Th-there was nothing we could do! They came onto us too fast! There wasn't time to react!" The Garrison member had a look of genuine fear plastered on his face as he looked into the steely eyes of the AP speacialist. Not loosening his grip on the man's collar Thomas continued.
"What the hell is going on here?" He growled.
"I told you! I don't know! They just came in and cut through our ranks like a huge knife!"
"Where are the other AP personel? They were supposed to be on standbye!"
"I don't know! I think they engaged because the situation was becoming too dire!"
"Probably because people like you were all playing dead." Thomas released the Garrison member, who slumped against the wall he was held against in relief.

"Well...I guess that means we're gonna have to find everyone."
"We should stay in a group, everyone else is already scattered." Gregory stated. Thomas nodded in agreement.

The small crew ventured deeper into the city, finding more and more recent evidence of struggles between the infiltrators and the Garrison, or possibly the AP Specialists. It wouldn't be long until they ran into either hostiles, or friendlies.

The shaking of trees still was unnerving even if it came due to the force of an ally Titan Shift who neatly sent a nearby titan's head flying into the distance. Blood pounded in her ears as she felt the overwhelming sensation to flee from a much larger predator, a sigh of relief escaped her as the sound for a retreat was made. Gliding through the trees with urgency even as her muscles screamed in protest as the short drops in height were continuous as the safe haven of horses came into view. Lucretia's hands shook as she gripped the reins of the horse in front of her in a white knuckled grasp. Within seconds dust was kicked up under the frantic horses hooves, yet it seemed all the titans were occupied with brawling with the Shifters.

Dread filled her stomach as the news that a rebel group of humans were currently operating behind the safety of the Walls. It would do little good if humanity was trying to rip itself apart. Sweat soaked the horse's flanks as the AP squad quickly dismounted once behind the Wall. Even here the air smelled of iron as humans laid butchered around on the ground like cattle, such senseless waste of life. Shaking her head as a 'living' Garrison member found himself roughed up by a clearly furious Thomas, that man needed to learn to control his temper or at least be low-profile wanting to threaten another member of the military, regardless of how spineless said subject was.

Clucking her tongue as the coward slumped down the house wall after being released from Thomas's grip. Crouching down front of the man as her calloused hands gently touched the man's neck inspecting for bruises. Said victim wearily watched the woman before letting out a muffled scream of pain as her right hand slammed into his nose breaking it instantly. Through the stream of blood as the man merely hissed "You crazy bitch what was that for? Are all you A.P nutjobs secretly sadists or something?". Lucretia merely shrugged before stating "You know, if you actually tried doing your damn job that wouldn't of happened. Besides now it actually looks like you at least attempted to save innocents. Unless you are to admit that I did assault you for reasons of losing my temper due to your stupidity and spineless nature." The man's mouth opened and then snapped shut as the blackmail was already laid in the place and should be wisely taken.

Wiping the bodily fluid off her left hand with a quick swipe on her uniform as her boots clicked with each step. Seems bullets or glass were the aftermath of a fight. Now were these bullets from friends or foes? As she finally caught the eye of Thomas before stating calmly "You know if you are going to insult someone. At least follow through so hopefully idiots like that coward actually learn a lesson.". Running a hand through her hair as she asked quietly "So, those were titans huh. Can't say my father's stories really got the fear aspect of them down."

Thomas observed as his ally went ahead with fracturing the Garrison member's nose.
"You know if you are going to insult someone. At least follow through so hopefully idiots like that coward actually learn a lesson." The medic ran a hand through her hair, speaking more to herself than Thomas. "So, those were titans huh. Can't say my father's stories really got the fear aspect of them down."

Although the Garrison member should be punished, Thomas found Lucretia's actions rash. The ex MP may have an anger flare here and their, but it would subside just as quickly with minimal damage done. Maybe it was just the habit of getting along with his MP team members...What a medic. Thomas barley suppressed the urge to call out the Private on her lack of experience. It would only make him sound...arrogant. Private Auber...it sounded so wrong. No point dwelling in the past though, he'd just be like those old war veterans talking of their tales.

The group of three began to move cautiously through the streets, the carnage left behind all to visible. Strangely, they didn't run into any wounded. Those infiltrators must be thorough...or maybe something else was going on. The crack of a musket sent the Private diving out of his thoughts. Crawling to the cover of an abandoned merchant's wagon, Thomas recalled that he hadn't heard the wiz or pop of the bullet. That meant the guy wasn't aiming at him, or he was a terrible shot.

"Everyone okay?" Gregory's voice carried across the street.
"I'm good!" Thomas slowly peeked out of his cover to get a better look but was driven back by another shot. Two guys at least. No one could reload a musket that fast. He thought he had seen the outline of a head a little whiles down the street. A plan put itself together in the Private's brain. "Cover me! I'm gonna flank these assholes..." He caught himself at the last moment. "...With your permission."
"Granted" Gregory replied hastily before launching himself into the air and drawing fire from the enemies. Come to think of it using the ODM gear was a great idea, since it would be very difficult for even himself to hit a target moving like that. It was just that he had more experience with his feet on the gorund, so that was what he'd mostly stick to.

Using the ODM gear, Thomas took a detoured route around the main road, setting himself down as he approached the estimated location of the infiltrators firing at them. Checking both pistols, he quietly stalked the sound of musket fir until he could see the source. Just as he'd thought, two hostiles. The infiltrators were clothed in green jackets and white pants. Both outfits looked identical, meaning the infiltrating force had uniforms. They must be organized. Thomas fired off one of his pistols, but was driven behind the corner of a building by the crisp reaction of one of the hostiles. Before the ex MP member could peak out of his cover, a third hostile barreled towards him, a bayonet fixed. The bastard managed to cut the tube connecting the air tank on his back with the devices in his hands. While the enemy was slightly off balance Thomas manage to land an elbow that sent the attacker staggering. With the extra time, Thomas drew the revolver holstered on his person, pulled the hammer, and fired. The bullet flew true to it's path, on schedule with its meeting with the attacker's head.

The immediate threat past, Thomas checked on his ODM gear. "Great, out of gas." He said taking off the gear and holstering his pistol. Despite the misfortune, the man smiled, his gaze falling to the musket in the hands of the dead enemy. Retrieving the musket, powder flask, and ammo pouch, Thomas headed back towards the other two enemies. The infiltrators seemed unaware of his presence. They probably assumed that their companion dealt with him. Foolish. As one began to reload and the other prepared to fire, Thomas squeezed the trigger of his flintlock...but nothing happened. Damnit! The original owner must have improperly maintenanced the thing. To his relief a bullet from down the street took care of the man with the loaded gun. Seizing the opportunity, Thomas attacked the second man whose reflexes were fast enough to parry the stab of Thomas' bayonet at the last moment.

The ex MP was seasoned in hand to hand combat so the enemy had little chance. With a swift motion, Thomas locked his musket with the other man's so it formed a cross with his own weapon horizontal. He then pivoted his musket around the other man's so the stock of the gun swung towards the infiltrator's face. The infiltrator leaned back to dodge, but was caught by the returning swing of the musket stock. The enemy on the ground with a bayonet pressed against the neck, Thomas called back to his squad mates. "Clear!"

"Wow" Greg had already landed next to Thomas. "First time I've seen a Private do that." Thomas just smiled lightly.
"Same here."

It seemed to be over more quickly than Asura would have thought. He had a bit of trouble with his, but it seemed like the others had taken out their Titans with little effort. Asura had taken the time to grab some rags from his pack and wipe the blood from his face and arms. It stung slightly from the numerous cuts and bruises he had received. It woke him up a bit more if he wasn’t completely alert, and the feeling wasn’t exactly unwanted. The blood itself was starting to get into his eyes though, and he sighed in aggravation as he tried to staunch the bleeding from his head wound. He had barely gotten himself cleaned up, relatively speaking, when Eris landed near him and immediately shouted for everyone to move out.

Asura jogged to his horse, his body groaning in protest as he followed his squad leader’s lead. It wasn’t long before they had reached the edge of the forest at full gallop, emerging from the woodland to witness their Titan Shifter laying the beat down on some unfortunate Titans. The group slowed and eventually came to a stop as their Shifter emerged from his organic shell with enough steam venting from the creature to open a spa. Eris hopped off to greet the man, but Asura had no such inclination, deciding he didn’t like the man on principle alone. He had seen Titans today, live Titans. They were nothing but abominations capable of inflicting great damage that not even Asura could properly enjoy, which made this man...some kind of half abomination. Asura did his best to keep his emotions concealed, but found himself averting his gaze from Shadow as they talked. He listened to him though, if only because their current situation demanded it. What he said made Asura overcome his inherent, and somewhat irrational disgust of the man and look directly at him. People were attacking Wall Maria? As in humans? Deliberately assisting Titans? This was bad for any number of reasons, but Asura wasn’t versed in fighting other humans, all his techniques, training and gear were spent dealing with creatures ten times his size.

Luckily that’s why they had AP specialists in their team, finally able to do something aside from hide up in the treeline like scared kittens. Once his report was given, Shadow requested to go ahead to which Eris readily accepted. He slit his palm, and in a magnificent flash of lightning, his Titan form was standing where he had just been, roaring and running towards the Wall. As much as he didn’t like the guy or what he was, even Asura had to admit that getting struck by lightning was a pretty badass way to transform.

Eris turned and addressed the group. Her decision was logical, and naturally their only option in this situation. They had to defend the wall and her people until they could get the area sealed, although Asura had extreme doubts that they wouldn’t be actively defending the wall. If the gate was damaged, there was a good chance that Titans would see the opening and move to capitalize on it. The AP specialists were to deal with the threat inside the wall, and the slayers the outside. Asura could deal with that, although he would need to stick closer to his group this time if the numbers were anything he thought they may be.

They rode towards the wall as fast as they could, but it still took longer than Asura would have liked. Every second was valuable in a situation like this, and they were wasting them on travel time. When they finally did get to the gate, Asura saw that his prediction was true...kind of. He knew the gate was broken from Shadow’s report, but what the Titan abomination in human form neglected to tell them was that the gate was stuck in its raised position. Asura cursed mentally for a moment, realizing that this would bottleneck the Titans when they entered the city, making it nearly impossibly to get any clean shots through the mass of massive bodies. They would either have to deal with them outside the wall, or once they made it into the city, neither were good options.

They rushed into the gate, Asura noticing but not commenting on the red flare that signified trouble in its largest form. They disembarked from their horses, running to get an update from another guardsman near the gate. Asura didn’t waste time, listening to the man as he made his way to a small supply cache in order to refill his canisters with gas. With the gates open, it was only a matter of time until this entire city became a mass grave. He only partially heard the instructions given to them by Eris, but he understood the gist. AP specialists hunt and kill the terrorists, slayers were to wait on standby until it was time to move. It wasn’t until Jim yelled at Eris, right at the moment he finished topping off his tanks, that Asura even turned around. Titans were massing at the gate, apparently the red flare from before fired as an after thought rather than a heads up considering the amount of time they had had to get ready.

Eris ordered them to kill them all and protect the city. Asura gave a frown as he detected notes of zeal but shrugging them off. Probably better to simply call it patriotism at this point as he used his gear to fire himself into the air and towards the mass of giants. His blades giving a sharp sound as he drew them from their sheaths. Within moments, he had reached the wall with his group and several other Titan Slayers who began their bloody work of making sure none of the Titans breached the gate, where the engineers were tirelessly working and panicking slightly as the threat loomed ever closer. Eris and Jim hit the crowd of them first, navigating through them with the practiced precision he expected of them. The two brothers flanked him on either side, their faces serious and filled with purpose as they soared through the walking mounds of flesh like modern day superheroes. Asura slashed his blades, a couple swings finding purchase and spraying blood over him and everything else as he flew by, but none putting down the Titans for good. The brothers were doing roughly the same, with the exception of Axel who quickly turned himself around and making sure one of them went down. A couple of Titans reached for him but he was off faster than they could grab. At the very least they weren’t abnormals, or this would quickly become a cluster fuck.

Every direction Asura went, there was another Titan. It was to the point he could feel Claustrophobia settling in even as one after another they fell to the combined efforts of the Titan Slayers. The Gate was working well to keep the Titans clumped together and prevent mass movement as they were drawn to the opening like moths to a flame, but at the same time, there was limited room for their ODM gear to be used properly. Asura slashed at the nape of another neck, feeling and watching a chunk of flesh fly off and the Titan fall to the ground. He was flying through the air, trying to look for another hook point to latch his gear onto when he realized he was flying directly into the mouth of a waiting Titan. With little else to go on, he fired his hook into another Titan, whipping him hard in another direction straight into another Titan. Everywhere he looked, all he could attach to was another Titan. Soon, he was surrounded by the creatures, and didn’t even notice the massive arm in front of him until it had already hit him with enough force to make him black out for a split second.

He was flipping through the air with little hope of orientating himself in time. He hit a surface hard, but after a moment of collecting himself, he realized he was upside down, and looked up to see that a Titan had grabbed him mid-flip. Impressive for the bumble minded creature, but extremely unfortunate for Asura as he struggled to get his arms free and bring his blades to bear. The Titan brought him up to it’s mouth, flipping him so as to eat him face first. Asura struggled, his efforts doubling as he saw the chasm get closer and closer, his movements becoming more erratic as he realized he really...REALLY didn’t want to be eaten.

Suddenly there was a flash of movement in front of him, and he felt the Titan’s fingers go limp as they were severed from the knuckles. He started to fall as he watched Axel go behind the Titan directly in front of him and dart by, taking a section of the beast’s neck with him. It started to fall forward and Asura did his best to try and orient himself in a different direction, but felt something grab him and take him from the fight. Tyler landed on the roof of a nearby building away from the main fighting, placing Asura down on it.

“You alright?” He asked, Axel joining them shortly. Asura gave a couple of quick breaths, realizing how close he had come to being swallowed from those things and figuring out what it meant to have a very real near death experience. Asura gave a nod, quickly composing himself.

“I’m fine...Thank you.” Asura stated, Axel slapped him on the back.

“C’mon then, there’s still some left to kill.” Tyler gave a nod to Asura as both he and Axel joined the fray once more. Asura took a couple more breaths, calming his nerves from the overdose of adrenaline he had just put his body through, and jumped off the roof, firing his ODM gear and rejoining the melee.

The last of the Titans near the gate fell, and just in time it seemed as the Titan Shifters ran inside the wall before the gate slammed shut, preventing other Titans from entering the city. Asura sat on a rooftop, his blades in his hands, which were positioned on his knees as he breathed heavily. The dead Titans were already starting to dissolve and the rest of the Titan Slayers in his group were at varying points around him. At the moment, he sat alone on his little rooftop of solitude, within earshot of Eris should she give him an order but far enough away to grant him some alone time to reconfigure himself for lack of a better term. Today was a day of firsts it would seem, first time seeing a Titan, first time seeing a Titan Shifter, first time nearly dying...twice. He made a mental note that, when he had the time, he would practice with his ODM gear until he broke his bones if necessary. That was twice he had nearly died because he couldn’t find a way out or operate his ODM gear at top efficiency.

Once enough time had passed to catch his breath, he stood up and rejoined Eris and the others for further orders.
