THE SIEGE ENGINE
last one out, turn off the lights

A member of the Vouivre, a proud people and one of the few demi-human races to survive The Blood War of centuries ago. A race which is held in an ever shifting view by the populace of the Empire after all these years. For at the time of the war the Vouivre, being of less magical aptitude than most of the other demi-human races, banded with the Eternal Empress in ridding the realm of those who would wield magic. By some, they are praised as valiant fighters, joining the cause of righteousness to eliminate what should not exist. To others, they are seen as a threat, for if they had no qualms bearing their blades upon fellow demi-humans then what is to stop them from betraying their now allied humans?

But alas, though she may face the repercussions of what ancestors have done before her, she finds herself proud and loyal to Sol, for it is the place she calls home. There is not much to say about her early childhood, though her family was, for generations, born to be shield-bearers. To follow the course of her parents, and their parents before them, it was only natural for her to take up the shield as well. She never once thought if it was what she wished to do, or if it was right or wrong. It was simply something she trained for, lived for, it was her duty. She never asked for anything more, and some condemned her for that.

Her attitude on the job felt as lifeless as the steel she held before her; some say that her brutally honest attitude allowed her to be an effective tool of war, others say she was cold enough to freeze even those that followed behind her. But regardless of whether officers approved or disapproved of her, she provided them with results. Whether it be through reckless charges straight into enemy domain, or acting as a wall for her comrades, one thing that they all could commend was her tenacity, her strength, and the fact that she never turned her back to an enemy. When asked why, she answered with, 'I am a shield-bearer. I am the first one in, and the last one out. That's all there is to it.' This response on its own garnered her a decent following of those who admired and respected her, and soon enough she found herself rising in the ranks, becoming something of the face of the title of Shield-Bearer and was promoted to the rank of Second Lieutenant

After acquiring the promotion, she had returned home to a celebratory feast prepared by her sister, her only remaining family. Among the small talk at the table, her sister asked her, 'Why do you have to fight, though? Anyone can do it, right? So why does it have to be you?' A question asked not out of simple curiosity but of fear that one day her older sister might not return. Needless to say, she did not answer the query, not that she even had an answer for it. Certainly she found the job fulfilling, she did her duty as a guardian of the Empire. Despite what people say of her, she does have things she enjoys, things that make her sad, but as for why she does it... she was not sure. And because of that one question posed by her only family, there lies a seed in her mind. One wishing for one thing only: A wish to have something to wish for.

Unyielding Resolve: Attack + Support

Should the shield-bearer fall, the vanguard crumbles. If she falters now, how long before the Empire follows suit? When she nears the brink of death (below 10% of max HP) she desperately musters her remaining vestiges of strength (+3) to hold the line.

POWER + 3ImageSKILL + 0ImageDURABILITY + 1

Manufactured as part of the Artifact Creation Program from years past, but was unable to find a compatible user and was kept in storage. Was given to Dual upon testing compatibility and finding it a match.

Ability One xxIs able to grant the user temporary burst of resilience and fortitude, allowing them to withstand incoming punishment.( Roll 1d10+Artifact Power, next sustained damage is decreased by half the rolled amount. )

Via xxTrebuchet is a troublesome spirit, always wishing to be in the thick of a fight. A very hotblooded Via, he refuses to work with those who show signs of cowardice or lack the confidence to be at the very forefront of a battle. Even going so far as to main and injure those who prove themself unqualified for his patronage. He is not known to project himself in a human form, and instead communicates to the user through some sort of telepathic means. Though more often than not, it's simply to express his desire to break things.

+ Ignition: Sparks of electricity emit from the shield in random directions, before collecting and coursing through the user. The user's eyes reflect these shocks, showing bolts of lighting jumping across their pupils.

So begins...
