- Dekam Eian
N I C K N A M E
- Hebi || It means 'Snake' and the only person who calls him this is Sicca. The fool of a boy said Dekam had reminded him of a snake that had bitten him once on he leg, especially his eyes and behavior.
Fire Lord Eian/Lord || A title bestowed upon him when he was only Nineteen years old
Father || Now this is a title he truly regrets, mostly coming from the mouth of his only son Aonani. But it's still the only name Aonani is to address Dekam by, he'd rather not be disrespected in his own home and/or kingdom.

Dekam is an ambitious and vile human being, he almost crosses the boundary between Man and Beast, and with no consideration for other people he finds himself lacking honest company. Believing himself to be feared by most people he often times argues that he himself has no fear but this is only something he believes. Being a conceited gentleman with a thirst for blood often times makes a person blind to their own faults. According to Dekam he has none, not a single one and if someone was to point out the reality of it, that he did have weaknesses they might as well be asking for an early funeral. Dekam enjoys other's suffering, he isn't power hungry and he doesn't really care much for being in control of the whole fire nation but he does like bloodshed and violence. Though he only mistreats those who don't bore him and loves killing those who're interesting to him. Dekam wouldn't call himself a sociopath or a psycho, he really doesn't have any qualities of those two other than his narcissism. He consider's himself hot-tempered and inconsiderate, not a maniac. But this is only his own opinion, others might have a different answer to this.
Violence is more of an instinct to him, nowadays he hardly bothers to settle matter's with words when he can easily make everything go away with his fists. Besides, to him it's much more fun to get into fights. He finds pleasure in causing people grief and suffering but this side of him rarely comes out into public. Only the one's whole truly knew his character well would know this side of him. In the public's eye he is just a quiet older male who smiles from time to time. Keeping up an appearance to his people is somewhat important to him, making them believe he isn't a bad guy is a tactic to ensure that their are no rebellions and that no one questions his ordered arrests. Dekam has somewhat of a charm with the ladies and men of the fire nation, him being a man of few words and beauty has made him popular with his people. Only those who aren't complete idiots know something is up with their fire lord and are smart enough to keep their opinions to themselves. Dekam's also a master of persuasion and deceit, he can lie with a straight face. He uses others to advance himself further and can easily put on a facade when he wishes. He's an intelligent guy with a big ego, a bad combination especially when his hubris is his downfall.

- ✦Reading - As a child he grew up reading for the most part, even his time in prison was spent reading material. Dekam enjoys reading all together, no matter the type of material.
✧Blood - Everything about blood gives this man chills, it literally takes him out of his usually composed nature and reveals the more Beastly & Dark side of him.
✦Execution Day - It brings a fondness to his day when word of an execution spread's through the fire nation. He rarely gets to shed the blood himself when an execution is in order but sometimes he is granted the permission to do so like when he executed Aonani's master. Even when he's not executing someone personally it is still enjoyable to watch his son become engulfed with disgust at him as another life is taken by his orders.
✧Alcohol - Dekam isn't an alcoholic but he wishes he was one. Spending all his days drinking alcohol sounds like heaven to him but alas he knows he has duties and keeps drinking as a nice hobby for him to do at times.
✦Board Games - Dekam loves playing mind puzzling games that get the brain working, he doesn't mind if he loses or wins as long as he learns from the experience of the game. He surprisingly loves playing board games with Aonani, it reminds him of the times when his son was still a small child and becoming frustrated at Dekam because he couldn't beat his father. At those times he'd allow Aonani to beat him the next match and then watch the boy celebrate as he asked for another go.

- ✦His Son - Dekam wouldn't say he hates Aonani but he very much dislikes the boy after seeing how he turned up over the years. Dekam never raised him to be the 'Hero Type' but that's how the boy turned out to his dismay.
✧Rain - Not only does it cause his ash bending to become useless, it also makes his hair wet and unbearable. Dekam hates getting his hair wet when it doesn't include showering or bathing.
✦Scent of Burning Flesh - He has made others parish for many years, killing them with his own hands or by simple words and has loved it but he absolutely hates the smell of burning flesh. It disgusts him and even after so many years dealing with the smell he still hates it.
✧Heroes - This type of character really repulses Dekam, from their kind hearts to their willingness to fight for others. Dekam hates those type of people, he believes they're unrealistic and delusional. It reminds him of his own father and twin brothers, now Nani is following after them.
✦Tea - It's either disgusting, it has no taste, or it's boring. That's it and he will never like any kind of tea or so he believes.

- ✦Ash Bending - Dekam is a master of ash bending, he is able to use ash to burn as well as form solid materials such as to use it as a weapon for example. Fire isn't the only thing that burns, ash burns victims just as good as fire can. Dekam covers hardened ash on his hands when in close combat with others, the ash burns him as much as it burns his victims so he has to be careful at times when covering the ash on his own skin.
✧Endurance - He can withstand anything thrown his way, be it physical or emotional suffering. He is stubborn and won't give way easily. One of the very few things that make him and his son similar.
✦Illusion - Dekam is able to create illusions by manipulating the ash around him. It's effectiveness depends on the person and their own keen senses. For example it's possible for any of the generals to be fooled by the illusion as well as to see right through them, it isn't about strength in this matter. It's about deception and whether or not the victim can sense reality from illusions.
Q U I R K S
- ✦"Ashes ashes, they all fall down" - It's become a habit of his to say this when either ending a life or using his bending against another. It's very unsettling to witness him at this point because he shows his true colors and doesn't hold anything back.
✧Plants - Dekam has a garden of exactly one flytrap. It's a carnivore plant and they can grow to be as tall as a human being but his plant is not quite there yet. He keeps it in his own quarters and waters as well as giving it sunlight everyday.
✦Hands - Dekam has a series of small burns on his hands and because of this he wears gloves, he doesn't ever show the burn marks to others when he can help it.
W E A K N E S S E S
- ✦Blood Lust - Sometimes in the heat of the moment when he's in battle he doesn't make the most wise decisions. Dekam's thirst for blood sometimes blinds him and makes him lose his ability to think practically.
✧Rash Nature - Dekam isn't the most sensible person when he's dealing with his own emotions and it honestly get's in the way of his duties at times. He's intelligent and tries to think before he acts but it's futile when his emotions start getting involved.
✦Fearless - Dekam often times runs towards threats or danger, it causes him a lot of problems for himself. He doesn't like to think he is afraid of anything and likes to present himself as such.

- Fire Nation
BIO
- Dekam's father, the fire lord before him, was an honest and good man for the most part. His father had grown up learning and preparing to take care of his people and the kingdom, the whole nation was family in his eyes. If the man had any regret's in his life it would be that he'd wish he hadn't let his own family push him into marriage with a woman he never truly loved. She was the daughter of a noble and loved the fire lord. But not for the right reasons, she loved the power he had and the power she was granted by becoming the fire lord's wife. Together the fire lord and that woman had twin boys, both fire bender's like their father. They were truly good children, both hard working and had a kind passion to help those in need like their father had taught them. It was an ideal family and the nation couldn't have been more happier with their leader. It wasn't until Dekam appeared in the palace that things became strange.
Dekam was the son of the fire lord, he was his own flesh and blood but he wasn't related to the fire lord's wife in any way. Dekam was the product of an affair, his own mother was a childhood friend of the fire lord. The fire lord had loved her since he was young but she was just a servant's daughter who became a servant herself and they couldn't be together. They were of two different classes and the fire lord was too much of a coward to disappoint his parents by marrying a servant. Once Dekam was born he was kept away from his father for the most part, his mother didn't want anyone recognizing the similar facial features. But for the most part she feared the fire lord's wife, truly a cruel woman who knew more about Dekam than she lead on. The boy grew up living with his mother in a small home where the servants of the palace were housed. He went out only with his mother and was told not to look at the fire lord as a child or he'd turn to stone. Dekam being a small child feared he would but curiosity got the better of him, he took a glimpse of the man as he passed and their eyes met for a brief moment. He was a child alright but a clever one and suddenly everything became clear. Why his mother kept him away from the fire lord so much, why the fire lord's wife would often come over just to criticize and verbally abuse his mother. Dekam, only Twelve years old at the time, asked his mother while helping her fold clothes 'Is that man my father?' and she just paused before looking up at Dekam with a smile and saying 'You're such a clever child Dekam.'. Dekam would forever remember the pained expression she wore on her face as she continued to fold the clothes.
Dekam's mother died a year after that, she died slowly of illness and if it wasn't for her silence Dekam knew they could have gotten a better doctor for her. If the fire lord had known about her illness and fragile state, he surely would have lent all the doctors in the fire nation to her aid. But he was unaware, after Dekam was born their relationship was distant. Not because they no longer loved each other, because that's the way Dekam's mother wanted it to be. She didn't wish to ruin the fire lord's relationship with other family or stain his name with her mistake. At Fourteen he moved into the palace, he didn't know what to expect at the time. He knew the fire lord's twin son's were both amazingly talented and praised by everyone. They were both fire bender's and had talents, one in swordsmanship while the other excelled in hand to hand combat. Both very talented fire benders. Dekam felt like a pebble among gems. In his youth he wasn't a social child, he was quiet and observant. Dekam wasn't a hateful child but he found himself coming to hate the fire lord's other children. Maybe it was because they were almost perfect or that they tried to make Dekam feel welcome when he wanted them to loath him as much as he did them. Or that he felt envy every time they called the fire lord father, a right he had no access to.
All in all Dekam's father was a good man and a good father even in secret. He never treated Dekam differently from his other two boys and even allowed Dekam to attend the same lessons that the twin's had. The only one he was excluded from was fire bending because he was not a bender like the rest of the men in the family but he was allowed to watch them as they learned their lessons. Dekam attended a few as a bystander and honestly as a child he was somewhat amazed as well as jealous. The fire lord even praised Dekam when he began studying, allowing himself to be lost in the immense material of books and data in the fire nation library. Dekam loved spending days in the library, getting his hands on any material he found interesting. It was an escape from his own timeline and reality, while reading he always found himself rooting for the bad guys of the stories or past.
Growing up in the twin's shadows wasn't all that bad, the boys were both warm hearted people and that's what made Dekam feel so uncomfortable to be with them. Though he favored their company over the company of the fire lord's wife, an unpleasant woman who detested his own existence but was never forward with her opinion unless alone with Dekam. She had said plenty vile words about his own mother to him in private and even abuse him with words as well. As much as he hated her, he never went to the fire lord with any complaints. He feared that his father wouldn't believe him or worse. At Seventeen Dekam had finally snapped, he learned the truth behind his mother's death. Stumbling upon a few documents hidden in the palace Dekam came to know that the fire lord's wife had been slowly poisoning his mother for months leading up to her death. Dekam went to confront her and she admitted to it after Dekam pushed her a bit further but she felt no regret. Dekam threatened to reveal the truth to the fire lord but she ended up blackmailing him. Telling Dekam that she would let everyone know that his father was the fire lord and that he had an affair, his name would be soiled. Dekam was furious, first she had killed his mother and know she was going to ruin her husband. The next moments came in a flash, before he knew it he had crushed her jugular. She died slowly and painfully in those last moments, choking as her throat was literally crushed.
Dekam went to prison for three years, his sentence was 200 years imprisonment for the murder of the fire lord's wife. His father wasn't able to give him the proper punishment, the execution that he deserved for taking another life. In those years of being in prison he came to feel numb and as much as he didn't want to admit it, he missed the rush he felt when he crushed that woman's throat. Something dark that had been inside him since birth finally began to brew. It wasn't until the Supreme Faceless One came that he was let out of prison and put to the thrown as the next fire lord. He didn't have much of a grudge towards bender's but it was all to tempting. Dekam's father was already dead when he was let out of prison and it was the first that he had cried in a very long time. Dekam felt sorrow for the loss of his father but at the same time resented him for locking him away, allowing him to be such a disappointment. He never blamed or hated the Supreme Faceless One for his father's death. Only one of the twins was still breathing, that is until Dekam killed the remaining twin brother to prove himself to the Supreme Faceless Ones cause. Everything from there was easy sailing, he raised his half-brother's children in the palace. They were all too young to fully understand anything so it was good timing for manipulating the future generation. Dekam also got married to a woman who was four year older than himself, a widow and former bride to the eldest twin brother. Dekam had no special ties with her but he felt that he needed his own child and taking the woman of the man he had killed in cold blood sounded interesting to him. The next year Aonani Eian was born, the first few years Dekam was a normal father figure to the boy. He let him sit in his lap and he told him stories, even playing puzzling board games with him. Dekam's wife loved their son even more though she feared the worst whenever Nani spent any time with Dekam but she couldn't keep him away from the cruel young lord. Dekam knew she only lived day by day for Aonani, their son and no one else. If it hadn't been for Nani's birth she may have taken her life earlier.
Dekam was very observant of Aonani as he grew up and the boy grew to disappoint him in many ways. Aonani reminded him of his own father, their good nature and kind hearts. To him it was all weakness, he toughened up on the boy and even burned him on his left calf out of rage once. Dekam had never seen his wife so angry, she was punching him over and over again as she cried. Bawling her eyes out, calling him 'monster, you monster..LOOK at what you DID to MY son!' Dekam truly hadn't meant to burn the boy or even use his bending but it just happened and he didn't feel an ounce of pity for his son. It was clear to him by the time his son was sneaking around and hanging out with a fire bender that his son was a lost cause to him. The closest they have gotten to bonding is when Aonani's mother had died, he truly tried to save her. Dekam kept a doctor and nurse in the palace at all times when his wife fell ill. He hadn't loved her but he knew what it felt like to lose a mother so he tried to spare his son the same fate but it was futile. When she died Dekam began telling stories of his own mother to Aonani, how he had lost her and so on. Probably the first time in a long he acted human with his own son. But his attention was drawn to Aonani's cousins for the most part. They were far more suitable candidates of becoming the future leader of the fire nation. Dekam found it an inconvenience when he learned that one of his nephew's died from a forest fire, it was one of the most suitable candidates at the time. He also has seen his son grow an interest in a young southern water tribe girl named Kaoru, she's his own servant and enjoys using the girl against Aonani.
