"Bibbity Bopitty Boo!" To most of us, it's a silly incantation recited by the fairy godmother to transform mundane everyday objects into finery fit for a princess. The story of Cinderella, her magical journey from rags to riches - literally. While the origins of the story are oft debated, it's clear that the tale has become a household staple. But that's all it is right? A simple work of fiction passed from generation to generation.

It started out that way, certainly. The line between fiction and reality used to be as clear as black and white. But the same can no longer be said of today, where the two can converge as easily as 1, 2, 3.

For a select few, Bibbity Bopitty Boo has an entirely different meaning. A Secret Police. It's nothing that inspires fear like the Gestapo, but B3 (as it's often shortened to) is a group that demands respect. And why shouldn't you give them their due? After all, they are the result of fiction come to life. Damsels in distress, heroes of legend, even mythic gods, their conscious reborn as a human in our world.

Being a Fabula is not as easy as sharing physical characteristics or personality traits with a story character. If it were, we'd all be members of B3. If there's one thing that sets a Fabula from a normal person, it's the manifestation of a power. It could be something as innocuous as eradicating dirt, or as flashy as breathing fire. Whatever the case, the power itself is directly tied to the original character and often the main factor in deciding your B3 code name.

Joining the B3 isn't a choice; you're forced into the organization whether you like it or not. You don't get much choice on a lot of things when it comes to B3, starting from your name down to your partner. No one's quite sure as to how B3 tracks all Fabula down, but in the end, no matter how well you hide, they will find you. They're not completely merciless though, and your degree of involvement is affected by your willingness to participate... Usually. If your power's too useful to pass up then don't expect any leniency.

But what exactly does the B3 do? They mainly hunt down rogue characters from stories who've taken over a host body, possessing powers similar to how the Fabula work. But there's a key difference between them. Fabula are natural products of reality and fiction meeting; the Animus are living things (usually human or animal) whose conscious have been taken over by characters who escaped from the story world. Fictional characters aren't able to stay tangible in our world for long, so they'll need to find a physical body to house them for their stay. More often than not, their hosts are unwilling victims to their whims. Fabula need to hunt down the original book which the trespasser used and then purge it, forcing them to return. It's extremely important to do this as early as possible as the longer the Animus exists, the stronger the foreign entity's presence grows. If it goes on too long there will be nothing left of the original, its existence erased from the body. Purging something at this state will result in an empty husk, physically alive but just as good as dead.

For years, this has been B3's main duty, which they've done to the best of their abilities.

But maybe their best isn't enough.

The number of Animus have increased, and the line between fiction and reality grows hazier each day. A new department was created in B3 in response, tasked to find out why and hopefully find a solution to the mounting crisis. It's a group filled with veteran and newbie alike, B3 simply dumping any couple they could spare into it. Not the best plan but at this rate, any action was better than none at all. Just how will they fare in learning the truth behind the Animus?

Use the code found in the application/reserves thread. Take note that applications are not first come, first serve. You automatically compete to join, as rather than character slots, we'll have a roleplayer cap instead. There is no character cap. Preference will be given to those who apply with existing story slots, or who've explicitly said they are willing to double up as necessary. Powers should not be OP and relate to the original character. I will double check this! After approval, you have three days to submit a WIP at least, and then a week for the final profile. Failure to submit the WIP will result in your spot being lost. I'm a bit of a hardass when it comes to being a GM. c':

I don't care much for labels. As long as you can post a cohesive paragraph, then you're good. I'm pretty relaxed about this, but I will not hesitate to correct you if I see glaring repeated errors in your posts. Occasional misspellings are understandable, we all have those days. Do not edit the CS/app code anymore than you need to. That means no changing the font, adding unnecessary images or changing text aligment. I'll probably fucking cut you. The only thing you can personalize are the colors and images. I want a sense of uniformity across all the CS' and if you decide to break the mold, I'm not putting up with it, sorry not sorry. "Are they...?" Elliot ran his fingers lightly over the frozen substance, cringing slightly at the prospect of what it could mean for the missing team. The tale of Hansel and Gretel was a popular one, told to him while he was younger. Though it seemed far fetched with the circumstances of the modern day, with some of the cases he had seen this wasn't going to be the most unusual one. The sweet scent was attacking his sense of smell with the myriad of treats covering the ground, almost nauseating. Huffing through his mouth quietly so he wouldn't have to choke on that smell, Elliot just managed to catch Seth's question when the man opened the door.

Gabriel made his answer then, cheerfully supported by Etheline. Elliot simply shrugged at the question, choosing to keep his silence. Personally, he didn't feel like that was very likely. An animus clever enough to know what the fabula team was planning and intercept their sneak Attack wouldn't be going to somewhere that obvious where anyone could find her. Besides, he doubted the presence of heavy woods where people haven't already exploited or made into a nature reserve.

Then again, he wasn't one to talk. Considering Seth's powers, he probably knew the answer already. This was only a sort of test for them, and regardless of his answer it wasn't going to make such a large impact. Yet, he didn't want to appear disagreeable either. "How many forests are there in Chicago?" He asked, his tone polite and questioning. It neither sounded that he was denying their idea nor supporting it. Elliot really didn't like taking a stand on matters.

He looked apologetically once again at the other pair as Etheline cheerfully spoke and immediately started unpacking. The vibes the other group gave off were so much more subdued then what he was used to, and if he was completely honest Gabriel intimidated him slightly. He didn't get into arguments with people all of the time, but a few times was enough to cause him to watch out for angry looking people just in case. Seth was like a whitewashed wall in comparison, and neither of them gave him much confidence in how he was going to get through this Mission. How troublesome. Yet even as he thought so, Elliot's fingers tapped out a rhythm at the side of his legs, the eagerness of Etheline already influencing his emotions.

Seth stood and placed and hand on Etheline's shoulder, stilling her activities. "We can eat on the way. Food isn't very appetizing at the moment." The sickly sweet stench of sugar still hung in the air and would make anyone nauseas if they breathed too deeply. When Elliot spoke, the taller man was rather pleased with his answer, although he was a bit disappointed he'd said it without conviction. Oh well. He still had much to learn; that could be the only reason why the Red team had been forced into cooperation with the more inexperienced couple. After all, if it were just him and Gabriel, they'd just leave the brain work to Little Red and the grunt work to the Wolf without much exchange of ideas. It was an efficient way of doing things, and Seth certainly liked efficiency. This entire tutoring thing definitely wasn't. It was troublesome, but he could see the merit in it. After all, what would happen to B3 if two of their greatest agents disappeared one day? Better make the other teams at least somewhat capable.

"Fair question. I have an even better one." He stepped back out into the cold, candy wrapper still in hand. He found the frosty bite in the air invigorating. "Why settle for a house when you can build a castle?" He held out the wrapper for others to read. "Read the manufacturing address; that factory's not more than an hour from here."

If it were just Gabriel, he wouldn't bother explaining. His partner usually wasn't one for listening to his explanations. But these two would likely ask questions, based on what he'd learned from their short meeting. "The Witch is smart enough to know that agents are coming after her. Probabilities indicate that she'll want somewhere where she can feel safe, especially after Hansel and Gretel's disappearance." He pulled out his phone, inputting the address to figure out the exact directions. "In a large factory, she can hold out indefinitely, and then quietly disappear in the chaos of an assault." Of course, there were other factors that led him to this conclusion, but they weren't details they would notice or appreciate, so Seth left it at that.

He quickly typed a message to HQ, a seemingly smug smile forming on his lips as it shortly vibrated to indicate a reply. "There are no transport books near it, so we'll be driving there." Without waiting for response from the others, Seth followed the alley back towards the main road. If his memory served correctly, one half of the Seven Lucky Gods team should be living a few blocks from their current position. He didn't doubt that Gabriel followed him out; it was one of those instinct things that happened when you've been working with one person for so long. The other two would probably get the message after that. "One our agents is nearby. We'll be taking his car." He answered the unspoken question. Why would a B3 agent willingly live in this kind of environment? "The neighborhood gets considerably better a few blocks from here. So, do either of you have a license? Gabriel says I take a few years off his life whenever I do a turn."

Sirius returned the look, secretly enjoying their developed connection before nodding in response to San's question about the mission. Of course, he left the talking to Roman since he wasn't in the mouthy mood at the moment.

"Go to your Fabula homeland, find the Amaterasu kid, and haul his ass over here," he shrugged in response to the chimera woman, "if we're lucky he'll come quietly and I can get back to Chicago in time for the sun to set. We're not really sure how powerful his light manipulation is supposed to be, but I'm assuming that you two can pave the way for me to nullify him if things get messy."

'Ah' He unconsciously heard Roman's thought about their.. destructive tendencies. He resisted a chuckle, though his fingers twitched at the idea of a fight, especially against a power he hasn't dealt with. 'Light... such an immaterial thing.' He thought, while curling his fingers, only imagining how a melee man like himself could fight that. Though, it didn't bother him at the least, since he always craved a challenge.

So finally feeling some other anticipation for the mission, other then getting it done, he watched Roman bring out the book eagerly. 'Lets get this done with.'

Though as he blankly stared at the book, before noting San's previous well hidden discomfort.

Was it something he said.

Not too experienced at the least, he merely gave her the least awkward pat on the shoulder, while showing her a great display of teeth. And the typical character would have screamed in fear, but just know, his intentions were pure. It was quite funny actually.

Though it was too late for her to run anyhow, with the light developing them, they all appeared in new lands.

He blinked, the surrounding area was quite... beautiful. He glanced at the girl again- he wasn't surprised.

San hadn't any time to react before a light shone in her eyes. She had a sudden feeling of weightlessness, like taking a leap from a zip line or missing a step on your way down. When The blinding light faded, they were in a very familiar place. Her eyes widened the slightest bit as everything came into focus once more. "I know where we are!" She said excitedly, bouncing on the balls of her feet. San looked around the square, she would recognize her home anywhere. San started walking, her pace quick. They were right near the shrine, her shrine, which meant that the library was only a few blocks away.

San felt like skipping she was so happy, but she didn't want to weird the boys out. Find her partner, that's what they were here for. It would be a curious thing to meet the kid. What did they look like? Reportedly it was a boy, but sometimes they weren't always accurate. Of course this led to fantasies, which was almost ironic; a fairy tale character dreaming up fantasies. She tried to imagine the light embodied, but the only thing that came to mind were angels and everyone knew those guys were jerks.

"There's another shrine, it's not too far from here, next to the library." San explained, not even knowing if they had followed her or not. She had sort of juts took off without a word, "I'm not exactly sure if he'd be there, but it's probably the best place to start."

FIND THE GUIDING LIGHT maccotango

Japan always greeted him well due to both the weather and the obvious height difference between himself and most of the general population. Where San somewhat blended in, he and Sirius stuck out as obvious foreigners or gajin as a few men affectionately called him. They were in some sort of shopping square, not overly populated but not entirely empty either. It seemed almost...picturesque, as though the area was lifted from a magazine rather than the packed, fast-paced metro he'd come to know in Chicago.

He supposed that was one of the difference between the two countries. Japan actually looked nice. Chicago pretended to be.

"You been here before Sirius?" he asked as he lit a cigarette.

By some miracle the area didn't have an anti-smoking policy so he wanted to revel a bit before he'd have to enter another tobacco-free zone. Everyone and their mother hated smoking these days (even though most seemed absolutely fine with marijuana and the like). From what it seemed, San was the only one with any idea of where to go and he was perfectly fine with that seeing as she seemed more than excited to be back in her homeland. He walked behind her, blowing out a few puffs of smoke before speaking.

"Lead the way San," he nodded, "we're right behind you."

The room was dark despite being day, thick curtains drawn to block the sunlight. In a corner of the small room, the sickly glow of a television illuminated a pale face. Eyes bloodshot from lack of sleep followed the moving figures on the screen while his fingers deftly moved over the controller.

”Wah!” A string of curses in Japanese followed the exclamation, sounding doubly loud in the silence of the room. With a disgusted sigh, he put the controller down. ”Ugh, okay I’m calling it a night. Talk to you tomorrow.” He lifted the headphones from his head, pushing off his hoodie and revealing a mop of messy red hair that looked like they never knew the touch of a hairbrush. The rest of him wasn’t that much better. Wrinkled clothes, sickly pallor, deep and dark eyebags; Ruri’s unkempt appearance didn’t bother him in the least. After all, it’s not like anyone would be coming to visit me, right? A bitter smile formed on his lips at the thought. At most it’s just going to be mom again.

The console turned off as he pressed the button, wishing his pathetic self could shut down the same way. He could sleep; it was still a few hours away until sunset. Vampires weren’t supposed to be awake at this time anyway. But going to sleep when he felt like this would only give him time to wallow in self-pity.

With that thought in mind he stood and moved to the opposite corner, kicking his computer out of rest mode and connecting his tablet to draw. Though he didn’t notice, the small rays of light peeping through the window reflected the movements of his hands, creating their own picture in the empty space. Fantastical figures of heroes dashing across the air moved in his room but he remained oblivious to its beauty, concentrating on the still image on the screen. As far as he was concerned, the only world worth living in was the one behind the screen. Being in a vampire in this world just sucked.

GABRIEL.BECKE

Gabriel absolutely loathed car rides - especially if a certain white-haired idiot was driving.

They were boring and tedious, and being confined in a small space with people he didn’t know nor cared for was irritating at best. Yet, despite his dislike Gabriel would willingly follow his partner if it meant a job well done — albiet begrudgingly.

“I’m driving,” Gabriel left no room for the others to reply and let his selfishness show on his face. He would not allow his partner to drive, and knew that if any of the other two were to take control he’d have to sit in the back with his legs cramped and an annoyed Seth next to him. For almost an hour.

                      Torture at its finest really.

Minutes passed by and as they stood out in the cold — “Why couldn’t we wait inside?” — his dislike for Seth only grew. The man was ice not only in disposition but in heart as well, and so naturally thrived in the climate.

The soft sound of an engine humming perked Gabriel’s nonexistent dog ears up. A generic looking man pulled up next to the road, and promptly opened the door to greet the two teams with a less than amused face. Gabriel could not blame him though, for if he had to stay out in the cold while some hooligans took his car to go to a factory where a dangerous witch awaited he would be less than pleased too.

“Don’t dent it, and make sure it comes back in one piece,” a look at Seth and the others he quickly added, “Please.”

A slight nod of the head, and Gabriel was all but running into the driver’s seat. He looked for the seat warmer and was relieved to see that it was already on, and despite it still being a little bit chilly with the windows open he was glad not to be suffering anymore.

The others piled in, and with a salute that meant good-bye Gabriel slowly turned the car around and followed the road that lead them out of the dumpster town. The electronic map on his phone, given to him by HQ, had the location of the warehouse and the estimated time of arrival showed a lengthy time of 55 minutes.

He made no move for the car radio (hating the music of modern days artists), and already used to the silence he and Seth sat comfortably in. It was only after years of working together that they had come to the point where conversation could be said through looks alone.

However, it only occurred to him as an after thought that perhaps the other team was not as amicable to silence and so did the best thing he could.

“So, how long have you two been together?” not at all realizing what he had said, and the implication behind it.

Etheline was about to inform Elliot that there were at least three different forests that she knew of in Chicago alone as she riled through her pack before Seth placed a hand on her shoulder and stopped her. She took note of how gentle he was then and reminded herself to thank him for it later.

She listened attentively as he explained the factory's location to them, as well as the Witch's behavior. She smiled sweetly at him, as his demeanor and attention to detail reminded her of one hat-wearing, pipe-smoking detective she used to read about when she just a bit younger. If only she could remember the character's name. It turned out, however, that she wouldn't have time to rack her brain for an answer as she and the others were prompted with the question of who was going to drive.

She meant to speak up then, having had her license for a while, but the suddenness of the question stalled her and so Gabriel was able to claim his place upon the throne that was the driver's seat. From there, they all seemed to be willingly herded into a vehicle and took off. It was silent for the most part, which didn't come as a surprise to Ethel. Elliot always soft-spoken, and the other two seemed like they thrived in the silence of each other.

After a bit, Etheline found herself humming softly as she watched the white lines on the side of the road pass by as they drove. Her head was tilted against the window and her hands were held in her lap when Gabriel broke the silence.

How long had they been together? The implication went over Etheline's head, and she let out an inquisitive noise as she began to rile through her thoughts. She was looking up and to the left as she visualized their first meeting, and after sighting contently, she spoke to answer.

"It hasn't been as long as it feels." she said, smiling first at Elliot, then at Gabriel in the rear-view mirror.

"Elliot is a very kind man and a good partner. Sometimes I believe that he thinks too much, but I have enjoyed our time working together very much. I hope to say the same about the two of you when this is all over."

She paused then, giving Elliot a chance to add anything if he wanted to, and rested her head against the window once more.

Annoyance. That emotion was quite obviously radiating off Gabriel's form, mostly directed at his partner and the cold. Elliot considered the idea of giving Gabriel his heavy overcoat as he subconsciously moved closer to Etheline, wondering how those two managed to work together if Gabriel harboured that much dislike toward the other man. There was rarely any conflict between Etheline and him in the period they worked together, mostly due to Etheline’s calm vibe and how that influences his own emotions on a large scale.

Gabriel volunteered to drive then, without giving them a chance to answer. It didn't matter much to Elliot anyway, seeing that he had no driver's licence due to his general reluctance in going anywhere at all. He only left for the missions, and that was as far as his participation in the outside world went. The borrowing of the car went rather smoothly, and soon Elliot found himself next to Seth as they drove in silence.

The drive was going to take long according to the electronic map Gabriel was referring to, so Elliot made as much of the situation as he could. Shifting as far away from the other as he could manage, Elliot tried to relax, resting the back of his head against the seat. He meant no offense to Seth as he did so of course, but Elliot wasn’t used to being around anyone other than his brother and occasionally Etheline when they had to go on missions together.

It always took him quite a while to get used to the presence of two new ones, despite having heard of them before at the headquarters once or twice. Though Elliot would rather sit next to Etheline if possible, he was thankful that he wasn’t situated next to Gabriel. The stress of keeping himself from being distracted by the man’s feelings would probably keep him tense for the entire trip.

They had just passed car number 32 when Gabriel broke the silence that had settled upon them.

How long? Elliot understood the implied meaning immediately, knowing far too well how that comment could cause awkward atmospheres once it is delivered. However, Etheline didn't seem too bothered by the comment or appeared to notice it at all. Elliot tilted his head at Gabriel and raised an eyebrow, but simply dismissed it as a mistake on his part as Etheline answered the question.

"Mm." Elliot nodded quietly, giving Etheline a small smile at the compliment. He rarely spoke to add anything, but it always made him grateful that his partner always remembered to give him a chance for his input anyway. Most just ignored him after a while, seeing that he didn't speak often at all, and Elliot wasn’t sure if he preferred it that way or not. Regardless, he settled down into his seat again, though he kept his attention on Gabriel just in case he makes a remark.

Seth’s face maintained its half-smile the entire wait for the car, giving nothing away. Upon its arrival, he politely thanked the man and sent a quick message to headquarters that they were en route to the suspected location. It was clear to him that Elliot wasn’t comfortable in close proximity to him, but he made no move to ease his mood. The drive was to be a lengthy one, and Seth hated being confined in small spaces. He didn't have time to grow concerned about others at the moment. If this were just a private mission between him and Gabriel, he would’ve kept the windows open, but he rolled them up himself once he’d adjusted.

It surprised him when it was their driver that broke the silence. This was Gabriel, right? It brought a hint of genuine amusement to his trademark smile at how he’d phrased the question. In a way, it was still very much the partner he’d grown up with. Still as awkward as ever.

“Sounds like a match made in heaven.” Whether his phrasing was intentional or not, it was most likely a subtle jab at Gabe’s social ineptitude. Lavender eyes briefly met his in the rearview as he continued to speak. “It’s fortunate you two have a good working sense and relationship. Most only have one or neither. Others are simply inseparable for one reason or other, whether they like it or not. Gabriel and I are something of that sort. Kusare en.” The Japanese crafted the perfect word for his relationship with his partner. He really couldn't think of anyone else who he shared the same kind of link with.

He took one of the sandwiches that Etheline had brought out of her bag at some point in the drive and unwrapped it roughly halfway. Leaning forward, he handed it to the Wolf. “Around how much longer until we arrive, Gabriel?”

Phoenix flushed a little as Amara started laughing, noticing that his panic wasn't that well hidden after all. Brilliant, his first time on the job and he was already completely out of control. Not to mention that this Mission was relatively easy compared to the examples he had heard, though it was far from what he'd consider relaxing in any definition.

The squawking of the Raven soon attracted his attention however, just enough for him to distract himself for the flustered feeling. Amara had stuck the entire black orb under her poncho. With the bird Macha sitting on it.

With a mixture of horror and amusement, Phoenix watched as she wrestled with the bird before relenting, letting it sit on her shoulder. "No, no words." He promised quickly, trying hard not to laugh at her predicament. It wasn't polite, and he had a newfound respect for his partner. Not everyone could shove an entire bird under the poncho and keep it there, looking threatening at the same time. As odd as her methods seem, she had gotten the situation under control.

"Is your arm alright? I have band aids for that," he offered before being presented with the decision of choosing what they ought to do next. Phoenix always brought bandaids, it had been a habit of his to have a stock of them in his pockets from when he bumped into things from flying while he was still in training.

He was much skilled at flying now, but the habit persists. You could never be too careful after all. Without waiting for her answer, he pulled out one with cartoon animal prints on it, sticking it carefully to one of the open scratch wounds.

"All better." Phoenix gave the band aid a small pat while he pondered the decision for a second before a brainwave struck him."If Macha changed back and you three promise to behave for the rest of the day, we can go for sweets." If he could kill two birds with one stone, why not?

          DIALOGUE ▖| #509fb0
          THOUGHTS. ▖| #793752

He hummed in appreciation toward Etheline and her partner before quietly looking at Seth. Talk of partnership reminded him of how much Seth annoyed him, and yet seemed to complete him in a way he didn't know was possible. His white hair was blinding and his face had not moved from its usual state of apathy, but still - Gabriel would not change his partner for the world. It surprised him however to hear Seth say something along that sentiment as well for it wasn’t often he would do such a thing.

A small smile could be seen on Gabriel's face, but other than that there were no outward signs of recognition to the praise Seth had just said. ‘Kusare en,’ he thought, ‘I like it.’

The peaceful silence that had fallen over them was interrupted by the sound of someone unwrapping a sandwich and asking the dubious, “are we there yet,” question. With a soft sounding snort Gabriel leaned forward and took a bite of the food in front of him; after all it was quite unsafe to eat and drive at the same time.

“Two more minutes, I think you can handle that,” he stated and licked his mouth clean of crumbs before taking another large bite and almost eating the plastic. Seth always said he had a big mouth - Gabriel just didn’t think of it literally until now.

The minutes ticked by and finally a large concrete building appeared before their eyes. Gabriel couldn’t help but give a nod of approval at how much it looked liked he imagined it would. The building itself looked worn down from decades of usage - however, it retained enough liveliness that Gabriel assumed production would still be on going.

He parked in front of what he assumed was the building, but did not get out or turn off the car immediately. They needed a plan of action, and he was not about to do it while in the freezing cold. Gabriel looked at the half eaten sandwich that was still held awkwardly in Seth’s hands and quietly grabbed it before he could make a comment. Food was food, and Etheline sure could make a good sandwich. However, it might just be his lack of cooking skills that had dulled his senses into thinking anything was a culinary masterpiece.

“So, what next. Do we walk in and hope or -,”he trailed off his sentence hoping someone would finish.

          Good-bye world, i'm sorry 4 me post. *v*
