"Bibbity Bopitty Boo!" To most of us, it's a silly incantation recited by the fairy godmother to transform mundane everyday objects into finery fit for a princess. The story of Cinderella, her magical journey from rags to riches - literally. While the origins of the story are oft debated, it's clear that the tale has become a household staple. But that's all it is right? A simple work of fiction passed from generation to generation.

It started out that way, certainly. The line between fiction and reality used to be as clear as black and white. But the same can no longer be said of today, where the two can converge as easily as 1, 2, 3.

For a select few, Bibbity Bopitty Boo has an entirely different meaning. A Secret Police. It's nothing that inspires fear like the Gestapo, but B3 (as it's often shortened to) is a group that demands respect. And why shouldn't you give them their due? After all, they are the result of fiction come to life. Damsels in distress, heroes of legend, even mythic gods, their conscious reborn as a human in our world.

Being a Fabula is not as easy as sharing physical characteristics or personality traits with a story character. If it were, we'd all be members of B3. If there's one thing that sets a Fabula from a normal person, it's the manifestation of a power. It could be something as innocuous as eradicating dirt, or as flashy as breathing fire. Whatever the case, the power itself is directly tied to the original character and often the main factor in deciding your B3 code name.

Joining the B3 isn't a choice; you're forced into the organization whether you like it or not. You don't get much choice on a lot of things when it comes to B3, starting from your name down to your partner. No one's quite sure as to how B3 tracks all Fabula down, but in the end, no matter how well you hide, they will find you. They're not completely merciless though, and your degree of involvement is affected by your willingness to participate... Usually. If your power's too useful to pass up then don't expect any leniency.

But what exactly does the B3 do? They mainly hunt down rogue characters from stories who've taken over a host body, possessing powers similar to how the Fabula work. But there's a key difference between them. Fabula are natural products of reality and fiction meeting; the Animus are living things (usually human or animal) whose conscious have been taken over by characters who escaped from the story world. Fictional characters aren't able to stay tangible in our world for long, so they'll need to find a physical body to house them for their stay. More often than not, their hosts are unwilling victims to their whims. Fabula need to hunt down the original book which the trespasser used and then purge it, forcing them to return. It's extremely important to do this as early as possible as the longer the Animus exists, the stronger the foreign entity's presence grows. If it goes on too long there will be nothing left of the original, its existence erased from the body. Purging something at this state will result in an empty husk, physically alive but just as good as dead.

For years, this has been B3's main duty, which they've done to the best of their abilities.

But maybe their best isn't enough.

The number of Animus have increased, and the line between fiction and reality grows hazier each day. A new department was created in B3 in response, tasked to find out why and hopefully find a solution to the mounting crisis. It's a group filled with veteran and newbie alike, B3 simply dumping any couple they could spare into it. Not the best plan but at this rate, any action was better than none at all. Just how will they fare in learning the truth behind the Animus?

Use the code found in the application/reserves thread. Take note that applications are not first come, first serve. You automatically compete to join, as rather than character slots, we'll have a roleplayer cap instead. There is no character cap. Preference will be given to those who apply with existing story slots, or who've explicitly said they are willing to double up as necessary. Powers should not be OP and relate to the original character. I will double check this! After approval, you have three days to submit a WIP at least, and then a week for the final profile. Failure to submit the WIP will result in your spot being lost. I'm a bit of a hardass when it comes to being a GM. c':

As much as possible, I really don't want my work to go to waste so please don't just apply and leave. Absence of three weeks without contact is out. A post a week is fine. Per character would be great, but per rper is perfectly fine as well.

I don't care much for labels. As long as you can post a cohesive paragraph, then you're good. I'm pretty relaxed about this, but I will not hesitate to correct you if I see glaring repeated errors in your posts. Occasional misspellings are understandable, we all have those days. But if you can't get your their/they're consistently straight, then I think you should brush up a bit more on English.

Do not edit the CS/app code anymore than you need to. That means no changing the font, adding unnecessary images or changing text aligment. I'll probably fucking cut you. The only thing you can personalize are the colors and images. I want a sense of uniformity across all the CS' and if you decide to break the mold, I'm not putting up with it, sorry not sorry. The synopsis would be their "character | story".

Your task is to find the two missing Fabula, Hansel and Gretel. They were dispatched a week ago to take care of the Witch from their original story, but have been MIA for the past four days. Your priority will be locating and rescuing the two members of B3, but if given the opportunity, apprehend the Witch as well. Two teams will be sent out to hasten the job and ensure its success. You will be sent to their last known location, which was a neighborhood around Chicago.

An Animus has been spotted around New York City, able to shapeshift into a vulture. A few Fabula managed to capture it in its vulture form, but Agrius managed to escape when it changed back to a man using its super strength. It is suspected of the murder of several people, and there is strong evidence that it is exhibiting the same cannibalistic tendencies as the original character. The subject must be subdued and purged before it can switch hosts again. Due to the strength of its power, we've come to the conclusion it's too late for the person within. You've been given permission to use aggressive -even lethal- force, but only as necessary.

B3's short on hands, so you will be tasked to escort and take care of the Morrígan sisters here in Dublin. Babd is 7, Macha is 9 and Anand is 7. It's a simple sightseeing tour requested by their adoptive parents. While we'd hire an outside babysitting agency, unfortunately the kids don't have much control over their powers. Not to mention they're prone to mischief. Just relax and have fun while keeping their abilities under wraps here. We'll be nearby if you require assistance.

"It seems easier and safer to avoid risk than to take creative chances and let your mind roam free."

Image

These days it was hard to distinguish reality from illusion. Quite often more than not, San found herself being swallowed by her own creations, fantastical images dancing across the surface of her mind as she squinted at the page of text before her, attempting to decipher the homework she had been given today. In truth, it could simply be that San was distracted, that so many more interesting things were happening around her that San would prefer to watch and participate than sit idly by and attempt to decipher what Plato really meant when he spoke of the philosophy of life. Each time she took a gander at the paper, the words swam together, melting and reforming into something much more entertaining. They leaped off of the pages, swirling into the air and toying with those around her. Quickly San closed the book, shaking her head. No, she couldn't do this now, she had to go.

San stuffed the thick text book into her bag and rushed out of the library, the feeling of glee overtaking her senses and causing butterflies to dance in her stomach as she navigated around the swell of students at the high school. The bell at the end of the day signaled that they were finally free from the prison of droning teachers who were so bored they could hardly look interested for their own lectures. It was maddening how humans could do this for so long, sometimes San simply wanted to start a fight just so something interesting would happen.

Perhaps that was why, when she entered head quarters, she wanted nothing more than a mission. It seems her prayers were answered, a rare occurrence. There was a Fabula in Odawara, Japan, waiting to be picked on. San dropped her school bag and rubbed her hands together in anticipation, she couldn't wait to get in on some action. As she glanced at the assignment once more, she noticed that she had been assigned to work with Jackal and the Jade Rabbit, two characters San got along well enough with. Finding them would be the real challenge; first though, San had to change out of her school uniform. It'd be troublesome if she dirtied or tore it up. Once San finished changing, she went to go find her partners, the prospect of who they would be facing causing butterflies to flutter about her stomach.

Just how incompetent were these Hansel and Gretel folk? If they had even half the ability of the Red Riding Hood team, they would've nabbed the perp and be back at HQ safe and sound. Quite frankly, Seth didn't even see any merit in their rescue. Catching the Animus ranked much higher in his personal priority list, but orders were orders. Yes, he would follow them, but just how exactly he would was anyone's guess.

Cool lavender eyes scanned the neighborhood, walking with three others around the destination mentioned in the briefing. A typical neighborhood slowly growing seedier as they progressed, the number of broken property and occasional shouting increasing. Their breaths frosted as they exhaled, the fall chill having seeped into the air without the heat of the sun. All the while he said nothing, although if he tried to explain, his mouth wouldn't be able to keep up with his brain. The silence was uncomfortable to most other teams they'd worked with, but to the Red Riding Hood pair, it was simply a part of their investigation routine. While they'd walked on, his power had been actively choosing and eliminating potential locations for the Witch and the story siblings.

The quiet finally broke at Seth's own voice, having decided that the silence was probably growing uncomfortable for the two who walked behind him. "Etheline and Elliot?" The tone was cordial and polite, though his eyes remained focused at the task at hand without a single drop of emotion. He'd talked them before on separate occasions, but it was only at HQ itself whenever they passed them. It would be beneficial for the team if they all got along, although with Etheline and her powers, any disagreements would likely be calmly resolved. "We've never worked together before, have we? Don't mind Gabriel. He may seem intimidating, but he'll listen to orders." At the mention of partner's name, a pale hand reached up to his raven hair, like one might stroke a dog's head.

Their footsteps finally came to a halt in front of a small abandoned building at the corner of the street, Seth being the one to have led them all the while. The original purpose and just how long ago were its last inhabitants were a mystery, but Seth seemingly knew the answer to both. "An abandoned candy store would be the perfect place for her to have hidden out." He turned towards the others. "Mind you, I don't believe she's still here, but it's likely this is where they confronted each other."

"Who would like to do the honors of opening it?" His tone remained polite, but there was an unnatural sweetness when he said his partner's name, almost like a taunt. "Gabriel?"

A FABULA ON THE HORIZON maccotango
Smoke left Roman's mouth in long, slow puffs as he sat on the park bench. B3 (or B-cubed as he preferred) had a firm no-smoking policy since it was underground and honestly, he had no desire to quit. He'd tried everything from patches to gum to Fabula mind control but nothing stuck to him for more than a few weeks. He'd always come crawling back and doctors would always wonder why he managed to have the fitness level that he did. Truthfully he didn't either given that his days were numbered and his genetics seemed to lean in favor of not getting heart disease.

"What are you reading mister?"

Roman raised a brow, looking up from his book to find a young child tilting her head at him. He ground the cigarette butt into the ashtray before handing the book to the girl.

"Have you heard of the twins who defeated the gods?" he asked.

She shook her head.

"There were these two twins, normal humans, who went to the Underworld and took down each god until they became so powerful they ascended to become the sun and moon," he grinned, "do you know how they did it?"

Again she shook her head but urged him to continue.

"They marched towards the gods with only their wit and skill and-"

"Carly get away from him!" a woman yelled, walking over and jerking the brunette girl away, "you know not to talk to strangers! You could have been kidnapped or worse."

Roman sighed and leaned back in his seat. Was it the hair? The eye patch? Clearly there must have been something wrong with him if everyone and their mother seemed to think of him as a threat. Still, the conversation was merely a distraction from what he the mission he'd been sent yesterday. He didn't find any fun in retrieving new Fabula and especially not those who probably had no idea what they were doing. He had enough of that with Sirius.

Just kidding.

Walking to a hidden alcove, he opened his book and found himself in B3's headquarters where it was well into the evening. He'd gotten used to the time differences so he simply advanced to one of the meeting rooms and texted Sirius.

Ethel hadn't minded the silence that much as they journeyed deeper into what could only be described as the impoverished burrows of America's lower-class members of society. In fact, while she dealt with the inner turmoil their environment was inflicting on her, she was humming quite sweetly and seemed serene on the outside. The fact that the humming was a faux pas didn't matter to her, however, as she was under the impression nobody present would be able to tell otherwise.

Still, despite the - perhaps exaggerated - turmoil she was experiencing, she genuinely was feeling rather at peace with the current state of things. She was excited to be working with Seth and Gabriel, and had gladly doted on the both of them while they had all initially met up for mission start.

At the breaking of silence, Etheline tilted her head only slightly in Seth's direction as he spoke to her and her partner. He was very kind in his addressing of them, and Ethel appreciated this, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips as if to convey it back to him. She assumed others might have trouble telling when Seth was being completely serious, but given the contextually clues, she could only hope that the latter portion of his speech had been of the teasing sort.

When they came to a stop and Seth began speaking again, Ethel's body began to buzz with anticipation. The call of exploration rang throughout her, and in turn it caused her to not be tuned in completely to what Seth was saying to them at the time. By the time he had spoken his partner's name, Ethel, excited at the pure prospect of getting to open the door, pushed past all of them.

If one had been paying attention at the time, they may have heard her hurried and excited expression of "Ladies first!" as she blew past them and into the abandoned building. If not, then they became the abandoned while the building became occupied, and the faint smell of cinnamon and peaches lingered around them on the corner in her absence.

Elliot wasn't the most thrilled with the prospect of teaming up with two people he had rarely interacted with before and had little to no idea about. He neither entered the headquarters unless absolutely necessary, nor did he partake in much gossip about the other members. As a result perhaps, Elliot was rather uncomfortable around them despite having come from the similar Organisation. It took him a while to adjust to Etheline even with her calming presence, so he stayed mostly at the end of the group, sticking close to his partner as his fingers clasped firmly around his crystal pendant of water. The only bright side to this situation was that the place was relatively deserted, and the other member, Seth, didn't have much of an emotional change he could sense at all. It was a little disturbing how little emotion he shows, but Elliot was thankful for that fact.

The buildings were becoming more and more decrepit as they passed, and as the shouts came from the buildings Elliot couldn't help but wince. It had been a while since he exposed himself to surroundings such as those, and he had almost gotten used the peaceful silence of his room, isolated and away from any semblance of human activity. The conditions they were in right now seems to have affected Etheline too, if his senses tell him anything. The usual calming air she had around her changed slightly, not so much as to make Elliot concerned, but enough that he noticed the change in her mood that occurred.

His crimson eyes flitted from place to place, studying buildings in apparent nonchalance until the silence that grew between the four of them was broken by Seth, addressing both of them in his detached manner as usual. Even if he did try to pick up that man’s emotion, it probably wouldn’t have done much anyway. Seth was like a robot, his words were polite and measured but they weren’t genuine. In short, it was impossible to read him. They had stopped in front of an abandoned candy shop, and as Seth gave his explanation about it Elliot studied it carefully, hardly listening to the rest. It was only when a movement came to his side that his mind snapped to attention.
"Etheli-" His partner sped past them and into the candy shop of her own accord, and despite having tried to reach out and grab her arm Elliot's fingers met with only air. He ought to have noticed the curios and eager buzz of anticipation that she was emitting at that point, but Elliot chose not to take any notice about it, just as the had always tried to ignore the emotions he manages to pick up.

Turning back to the other pair, Elliot offered them an apologetic smile. "I'm very sorry, please excuse me." He really wasn't the most comfortable among the people he wasn't used to yet, and without Etheline being around Elliot was concerned that the relative sense of peace he was feeling at that point of time wouldn't last. Not to mention the fact that he was genuinely worried about her well being should she face the witch in question. He didn't know much of the Hansel and Gretel team, but they weren't able to take down the animagus, which means that it was at a relative level of difficulty to settle. After his quick apology, Elliot hurried in the candy shop after his partner, hoping to find Etheline before she got into any trouble.

‘I should have brought a jacket,' was the first thing that ran through Gabriel’s mind as the two teams walked slowly, painfully so, through the neighborhood. However, he ignored his need for warmth to slyly stare at his partner and grimace. Seth had to have known of his predicament for his power allowed him to notice things normal people wouldn’t, and thus let Gabriel freeze to death. ’The damn bastard.’

The road they were walking on was once smooth and darkly colored, but in correlation to how far they walked the quality sank. Pot holes covered the road and buildings were crudely boarded up with plywood and rusty nails - it was pitiful in the most broken of ways.

However, his internal grumbling came to a halt as for the first time in thirty minutes Seth spoke and broke the silence. Gabriel didn’t know wether or not he liked the new change, for he was used to the quiet and he knew that anytime his partner spoke a jab would be thrown; and as always he was right.

"...but he’ll listen to orders,” as if to make a wound even worse he began to pet his head in a very demeaning manner.

Gabriel shook his hand off and glared, “That is if you keep your hands to yourself,” He then looked behind to see if the other members were still listening and added, “And I don’t think we have worked together. I would have remember an odd pair like you two.” The comment was not meant to be offensive, but Gabriel had a penchant for making what he thought to be harmless statements into insults.

“Gabriel?”he shook his head in confusion as he hadn’t been listening to what Seth had said prior, but the unheard question was soon answered as Ethel pushed past the three of them and barged into the building. Elliot apologized for his partner’s behavior before racing in after her. Gabriel could do nothing but raise an eyebrow and let his facial expression speak for itself.

“Are they new?” He directed his question to Seth but didn’t wait for his response as he too followed the pair inside.

Stale air and thick dust greeted him upon arrival and it took pure force of will not to cough violently. As such he settled for a light clearing of his throat and rapid blinking of his eyes.

The place was a dump and all Gabriel wanted to do was get the mission over with so he could return home and [/i]sleep[/i] until the world needed him once more. However, the chance of that happening was less than ten percent, and so he didn’t get his hopes up too high.

“I”ll start looking around then,” he said and so gestured his head toward Seth as a sign to follow him. “You guys can follow or split up, your choice.” The moment he said that Gabriel began walking in an unknown direction.

The building was large, vast even, and the tacky pink wallpaper of the store seemed to brighten it’s rather eerie disposition. Gabriel assumed the place had once been a candy store for there were old candy boxes on shelves and gum ball machines still full lined every other aisle.

Everything was to be in perfect order and it intrigued him how organized everything was.

It was perhaps that very fact that helped Gabriel notice something out of place. Bread crumbs lined the floor, and he would have dismissed that fact if it hadn’t been for his earlier realization.

“Seth, what do you think?” despite not having talked to his partner before hand, Gabriel had faith in him that he would understand the meaning behind his question.

SIRIUS.SELENEImage
Sirius looked around, noticing the ever so "secretive" glances people were shooting him. They were mixed between fear, and suspicion, which wasn't surprising, Sirius never seemed to give off the best first impression. His features were rough, while his face was deemed "scary". Rude, he would think, but after glancing at the mirror a few more times, he realized they weren't totally wrong. With naturally narrow eyes, and oddly sharp teeth, he could easily be seen jumping someone in the middle of the night.

Which, he would laugh, he does. 'only if theres money, of course.' Sirius thought, knowing it didnt make it seem any better. Shrugging it off, he kicked off the wall he was leaning against, and began to watch the door of the building across the street, the library, for this partner they were assigned. 'San...San Francisco, or something like that.' He thought, with dry amusement, yet with immense boredom. This job was too easy for a mercenary like him- Search jobs? The most boring ones.

Even worse, he wasnt sure he was even getting paid to do this.

With a sigh, his keen eyes picked up on the target who was currently leaving the building, a real cutie, but before he started off, he looked down at his pants.

A buzz emitted from his pocket, and he whipped it out with ease. Was it a mission with actually money? And to his unfortunate mood, it was just his new partner, Roman.

ImageSirius didnt know how to feel about him, they were total polar opposites. He was a mercenary while he was a detective following the laws of this damn government. 'Like a damn dog.' The thought made him scowl, but nevertheless, he viewed the message.

You meet with San Koneko yet?

"San Koneko.. yeah thats it." He huffed in amusement, while clicking on the tiny cell phone.

To: Roman Barcero
From: You
Almost.

Pressing send, he looked up and began to near the girl, "San Koneko." He called, while getting closer, now having to look down at the girl, he noticed the anticipation that was eagerly rolling off her. A lopsided grin pulled at his lips (that could be seen as almost scary which was entirely unintentional), amused, "You ready to go?"

"It seems easier and safer to avoid risk than to take creative chances and let your mind roam free."

San's mind had wondered off. In her clutches was her notebook, the one where she wrote down observations she made throughout the day. It's cover glistened with gold leaf, the gentle pattern of poppies decorating the front with a smudged purple scrawl along the spine that simply read Observe. Her mind hopped between thoughts, hardly stopping to allow her train of thought to restock. Suddenly someone called out to her, derailing the train and causing her to cease walking mid step. San turned towards the sudden object of her attention, seeing that it was a tall and broad shouldered man with a somewhat lopsided grin. San was sure that should she have been younger she would be quite terrified by the girth of this being. Seeing as how she had faced scarier things though, San simply turned to him with a smile of her own, noting the amused glint in his eyes. "Ready when you are," she responded and shoved the notebook into her bag. San would have to write down the observations of this man at a later date.

The female changed directions, walking up to the man she believed was called Sirius. The name certainly suited him. He was tall with short black hair and a dark complexion. He was taller than her, although most people were as San was about average. In fact, that was quite possibly the only normal thing about her. "So where's your partner?" San asked. She had yet to receive one, so for now, she was the third wheel in missions. San hoped to get a partner of her own soon, as she was tired of being the awkward extra no one really wanted around. "What was his name again..." This was more of a mutter to herself than anything as she attempted to recall the name of the other Mayan Hero. She bit down on her thumbnail in thought, a terrible habit of hers, attempting to think back on what it could be.

Rogue? No, that wasn't it. Rome? It was on the tip of her tongue. Romeo? San debated flipping through her notebook to see if she had written it down somewhere, but decided against it. Sirius was bound to let loose the name of who he worked with and then San could save herself the embarrassment of having forgotten his true name. It was much easier to refer to them by their Character, except when their character names were something foreign and extravagant and impossible to pronounce; which could often be in issue in itself.

The perfectly organized interior was calming to the side of him that enjoyed order, but even he knew he should be feeling unsettled right about now. A pale hand touched the top of the counter, using the dust accumulated as a measure of how long ago were this shop's past residents.

"Well, it's clear people were here very recently." Even without the trail of breadcrumbs, the tidy state of the shop should've been enough to tip anyone off. "In a neighborhood like this, it's doubtful the nearby residents didn't scavenge the area for anything useful." Seth stood in front of one of the gumball machines, dropping a coin and watched as a bright yellow orb smoothly slid out from the dispenser and onto his hand. "A perfectly working machine like this is worth the effort of an easy break-in. Unless someone or something was scaring them off, it's unlikely this place should be in this state."

He let the others continue to explore the main area of the shop, going ahead towards the backroom in search of more evidence to confirm his hunch. The state the backroom was in was a perfect contrast to the neat interior of the shop. "Etheline, Elliot, Gabriel? They were here." A red substance completely covered one side of the wall, hardened by what he assumed to be the cold. The room was covered in a myriad of bright colors, but the circumstances that caused it was enough to make anyone grim. Lavender eyes grew steely as he tracked the room for the flow of the battle, trying to guess where the Witch went after having bested them in battle. Other than the obvious mess in the storeroom, there was no sign of property damage so it was unlikely the fight continued farther than this point.

The sickly sweet stench was making him sick, and he moved towards the backdoor, trying to avoid stepping on the sugary treats that carpeted the wooden floor. Hansel and Gretel likely went through the back in an attempt to ambush the Witch, but unfortunately the Animus had been expecting that and prepared a trap ahead of time, likely explaining why there didn't seem to be much evidence of a struggle. Intelligent move on the Animus' part, but that just made their job much more troublesome. Honestly speaking, Seth much preferred fighting things along the lines of what the Greek duo were facing right about now; it was straightforward and the only thinking both he and Gabriel had to do was how to kill it. It wasn't that he disliked a challenge; the white-haired man simply disliked troublesome things.

The backdoor opened to reveal a narrow alleyway, the brick wall directly in front of him not looking to have any tricks up its sleeve. "Nothing else out here. They're gone; the question is where they went." He sat on the steps facing outside, taking care not to breathe too deeply or the sweet scent would make him nauseous again. Truth be told, Seth had some very good ideas as to where the Witch was hiding the pair, but it wouldn't do the Egyptian partnership any good to spoon feed them the information. They were, after all, learning from the best. "I doubt they'll still be somewhere with a lot of people, so places like these are now out." He picked up one of the numerous torn wrappers nearby, silently reading what he could decipher from the sticky text. "Any place you think would make sense for a Witch to turn into her gingerbread house?"

I'LL TRY TO BE THE HERO YOU LONGED FOR IN YOUR DREAMS AS QUICKLY AS I CAN

The rain refused to stop its incessant bombardment for over an hour, so rather than waiting it out, the young adult decided to make his way through the ice cold droplets. His teeth gritted more which each shiver, and his sorry excuse for a hoodie didn’t do anything except assist in concentrating the freezing feeling of the downpour. ”Too bloody cold.” The boy hissed with a scowl that failed to fit his timid demeanor. He tugged on the collar of his hoodie, as if that was going to help at all, then proceeded on his course.

The guitar case hanging over his back didn’t shield Arc from any of the rain. Thus, he was doomed to walking through the streets, following an already outlined route, while sticking to a drawn plan. But he of all people knew that nothing ever went to plan. If something can go wrong, it will. It’s not like he needed his ability to ascertain that. Light tears seeped from his verdant eyes as a yawn escaped his mouth. The sniper had received the required fourteen hours of sleep to make his ability viable, but maybe the plane flight messed up his composure. After all, it was impossible to recreate the comfort he felt on his bed back in Dublin. That tough mattress that somehow adhered to his shape, regardless of his featherly weight.

But unfortunately, he wouldn’t be able to enjoy the pleasures of sleep without maintaining his job. And because of that, here he was, in the middle of New York City. The city where the sky was a permanent grey, garbage piled up on the streets, and infrastructure reached up high into the heavens. It was most definitely the city that never slept.

It wasn’t a place he exactly fancied.

Arc reached into his jeans’ pocket and produced his cellphone, an iPhone four. Considered a relic by people nowadays, the young adult couldn’t harmonize with their outlooks, as long as it worked, he would use it. He held a hand over the phone to cover it from any incoming raindrops, while swiping and typing with the same one that was holding it. It was a small phone, perfect for small hands. Their missions was relatively straightforward. Find a person exhibiting cannibalistic characteristics or with blood dried on their face, and detain it.

”Jupiter must be ticked…” The young adult muttered under his breath, in hopes that the aforementioned deity didn’t hear his outspoken thoughts. A part of Arc was glad that they weren’t in bird form like the lore had been told. ‘Cause looking for them with all of these winged rats around would be borderline impossible, even with his ability. A few more swipes and the phone was displaying another texting contact, one that went by the name “Catch me if you can.” He managed to peck in a few words, constantly having to take the time to reach for the backspace with each typo he made.

”En route to marked location. Let’s group up, then I’ll find a perch.” Arc pocketed the phone as soon as the notification went off, and after making his way through a few more blocks, he was suddenly in front of a construction area. The development of the building was postponed due to a shortage of funds, so after asking around with a few individuals, he found out that it was merely a place people hung out at, at this juncture. But their numbers were sparse, thus, it was a pretty good place to have a certain kind of meal. The boy leveled his gaze with the apex of the partially built skyscraper. It was kinda disconcerting how these were a commodity here. He rested his eyes on the pinnacle for a few moments longer, until he let out a sneeze, promptly followed by a sniffle. ”Hope she gets here soon… Rain’s killing me.” The young adult pouted as he glanced around, keeping his constantly changing surroundings in check.

A FABULA ON THE HORIZON maccotango
To: You
From: Sirius Selene
Almost.

Descriptive as ever that man was. Anymore out of him and Roman might have needed an English teacher to translate.

To: Sirius Selene
From: You
I'm on my way.

Roman pocketed his cellphone and took a leisurely stroll around B3 headquarters. He knew the place inside and further inside as he'd been there for quite a few years and had a good sense for direction. In his younger years he'd mapped out the entire building based on the habits of other Fabula and in the older ones actually memorized the map provided to him. The kids were typically in their rooms and the desk jockeys would be gossiping by the water cooler. Granted, he could only detect people's powers up to a point but it helped when he could match a feeling to a face.

His walk brought him to the ever familiar black hair and slightly psychotic eyes as well as an unfamiliar duo-colored head of hair. He'd never seen the woman before but knew her name purely from researching the various Fabula that came and went through the organization. Though he wasn't nearly in the loop as some of the commanding officers he still had a decent grasp on who was who. Judging by her name she was Japanese and her eyes meant she was either having an identity crisis or had some sort of heterochromia.

"What was his name again..."

"Hunahphu, but don't bother trying to pronounce it," he cut in, shooting a half-smile, "just call me Roman."

Even with the similarity in height one would doubt that they were twins in either real life or Fabulan life. Compared to the rough, dark-haired Sirius, Roman looked like a straight-edged soul with only some mystery in his missing eye. Was he a pirate? Did he get into a fight? Was Sirius to blame? Younger Fabula often asked about his eye patch but very few were satisfied with the actual story because boring stories never made for good time wasters. He could only hope that this kid, whatever her name was, wouldn't bug him too much.

"Ah and your name is San right?"

As the rain fell, people were bustling to get indoors, so they hardly noticed a white figure weaving in and out of the crowd. Which would be about impossible, because they didnt even feel her. She often took an advantage of this.

"Kyaa!!" Women would scream, as she zoomed by, canceling her intangibility for a moment before brushing up their skirts. A fox like grin was smeared on her lips, while her eyes gleamed with mischief. The usual look. 'Oh how I love this power~!' She thought, while giving out a little cackle. She shot a wink at the ladies, who were overwhelming flushed that they hardly noticed her.

How childish?

But to be serious, she would never let anyone catch her or touch her for that matter- that's the "law" of her lore.
Of course, unless she allows it otherwise and this was one of those instances.

With the distinct sound of crying, she stopped briefly to spot a young boy, lost and overwhelmed by the mob of people. He was calling out to whom she believed was his mother or guardian, but with the thundering rain, it was almost impossible to be heard. Looking up towards the showering skies, she stared for a moment, the grin now gone.

"He could wait."

Suddenly disappearing from her spot, she took the humans hand before lending him his power. With her touch, they both ran through the crowds, undetected. The boy only stared and looked around in awe, giving out a cry of shock. She winked. "We'll find em!" So giving him a show, she ran through walls, through the rain- untouched by the water. Finally after a few minutes of running, the boy directed his finger towards a couple- a shocked and worried couple.

"There we are~!" Letting go, she gave him a light pat, before disappearing once more. Looking over her shoulder, she grinned, feeling warmth at the sight of the family reunited. 'Now time to see that baby~ Bet hes soaked.' she snickered, only to stop at the feeling of vibrations in her pocket.

She swiped out her phone, and unlocked the phone to view the messages. She gave another chuckle, before a wicked grin pulling at her lips. "Foolish kid, I accept the challenge!" Not like it was too much of a challenge anyways..

Suddenly, behind arc, a figure seemed to slipped out of the walls, before plunging herself in the air- grappling the male.

"Yo!" She pulled at his cheeks, while she koala hugged him from behind his neck, "YOU MISS ME!"

Amara knew enough about children to know that once their minds were made up, it would be difficult to make them see differently. As such she made it her duty to appear like an older sister to the girls, and gain a favorable opinion from them.

However, their expressions didn’t give any clue as to what their thoughts were and so Amara was left in the dark to contemplate. Mentally she prepared herself for the worst and closed her eyes, beginning to sigh heavily from incoming exhaustion but it shocked her to notice a small hand shaking her arm.

She gave the twin still holding onto her a questioning look, and it was only when the girl pointed at her twin did Amara notice the third one gone.

“Phoenix, did you see where Macha went?” The tone of her voice was not rushed, but it had an overtone of panic woven carefully into a presence of maturity. She asked her younger partner for help for he seemed much more reliable - despite his age - on handling matters of children. Not that she knew for sure, but it was a speculation that she was willing to put to the test.

It was easy to tell the twins from their older sister, for even though they all came form the same mother they did not share similar facial features. Macha’s eyes had been a darker shade of brown and her face was more oval than the others. Her gaze, even for a nine year old, seemed unnerving and a smile of either malice or mischievousness - for she couldn’t tell which it was - always caught Amara off guard.

The twins however were much harder to tell apart, but after careful speculation she noted Anand was much more gentle than her sister Babd.

However, all her speculations came from the first few minutes when she and Phoenix were introduced. Nothing was set in stone, and Amara would soon come to learn just how alike they all were.

The sight of a crow standing on the floating ball of darkness brought her back to reality. “Nice job, however I would ask you not to do that in public. You might scare some people.” The crow only squawked and Amara took it as a sign of distress. It’s tone was too high pitched, and the short stutter at the end cemented her theory.

“Uh, Phoenix do you have any idea what to do now,” honestly, even after growing up in an orphanage with many other kids Amara still didn’t find it easy to talk with her younger peers - let alone teach them to try control and their powers. “Cause if you don’t, she’s going to be stuck that way until God knows when.”

Perhaps it wouldn’t be the worst of ideas, but their adoptive parent’s would be none too pleased.

Babd who had been eerily silent walked toward her sister and began to pet her head, lovingly. Amara didn’t think it too creepy, but it was strange for when all things considered Macha’s younger sister was petting her as a crow.

“We can google good places to see later…but for now I think we have a more pressing issue.”

This was not exactly what Phoenix had in mind of the first mission that will introduce him to exactly what the B3 did. What he had imagined involved explosions and dragons, but now that he thought about it that seemed rather far fetched as well. Still, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of disappointment when he first got the mission of babysitting a few kids, though that task seemed quite a bit harder than he had expected from the beginning. Sure, the kids were odd, and they might have powers, but they were only children.

He was starting to have second thoughts when the third girl disappeared out of the blue. “I’m afraid not.” Amara was technically his senior, this being the first mission he was on. It didn’t involve any fighting, yet it seems that they had already stumbled upon a rather difficult situation. Not the first one, Phoenix felt that he was being plagued by pranks since they got the focus of their mission.

Hovering an inch or two above the ground, Phoenix considered the idea of flying around to look for the missing child, but that would mean that he was defeating the point of hiding their powers. He landed on the ground with a soft sigh, scanning the crowds for the missing one of the sisters until Amara spoke again.

“Nice job, however I would ask you not to do that in public. You might scare some people.” There was a crow. On a floating black ball. Phoenix could immediately feel his mind leap into hyperdrive. The people around them was all he could think of, and the panic that was taking over the entirety of his emotions didn’t help much with his situation. Oh what if he messed up, on his first mission too. Millions of possibilities sped past his mind in an instant, and Phoenix was surprised that Amara still managed to keep a cool head around matters like those.

“Uh, Phoenix do you have any idea what to do now, cause if you don’t, she’s going to be stuck that way until God knows when.” He made a soft noise at the back of his throat that sounded like a hoarse scream. How does one make a crow turn back into a child? Calming his mind the best he could, Phoenix stretched his hand out toward the crow gingerly to pet it like Babd was doing. In all honestly, his mind pulled a complete blank on what to do.

“Nope, no idea. If you could move the sphere we could keep it this way until Macha turns back.” If Macha should decide to fly in that state, at least Phoenix wouldn’t have much of an issue keeping up. The only thing is how it would look like to regular people. “In the meantime, I think we could just take care of the remaining two and… Look around?” He asked, trying to make it seem like he had it all worked out but the undertone of his voice had a quality close to hysteria. Children were hard to take care of, and he might be overreacting slightly.

"Ready when you are," Taking this as a cue, he started off towards the street, expected the lady to follow. If she didnt, well.. not his problem, however it seemed like San was smart and independent enough to know what to do. He would hate to be a baby sitter after all. Of course, he did have a job so he would glance at her every so often to make sure she was close behind him.

As he took precaution, he noticed that the female was quite attractive- strange, attractive nevertheless. What caught his eyes from the beginning was her heterochromic patterns, her eyes and her hair. They were so rare that he barely noticed her nicely shaped form and graceful demeanor. If he cared, if he was the average male teenage, he would see himself squirm near her presence, but since he was anything but that, he was hardly bothered.

Romance wasn't his forte or interest anyways.

"So where's your partner?" He sniffed the air, noticing his partner's movements toward them, "Near." Not saying much more, the familiar one eyed man made himself clear through the crowd, and they stopped. "What was his name again..."

Sirius snickered, eyeing his partner with heightened amusement but nodded in a semi serious greet at the same time. This greet had some forms of respect, but appeared rather half assed as well (not like anyone should take it to heart). It was just Sirius being Sirius, and by now, Roman seemed pretty adjusted to his sociopathic behavior- harder said than done really, so props to him. But people would rather dismiss this feat as normal due to their apparent "history" as mayan twins, but really, the two seemed far from that. Like the moon and the sun, they were opposites, but now that Sirius looked back at the lore, he scoffed. 'They did become the moon and the sun gods.. so.'

Shrugging the rambling thoughts away, he focused on the two before him, waiting for the light and casual chit chat to end- or "waited" before intervening. "Interesting girl, isn't she." He interupped, before moving the conversation forward, wanting this job done and reward earned. "but, this target- he's waiting." (And so was his reward (or so he hoped)) The lopsided grin took place on his features again, his eyes gleaming with anticipation yet at the same time boredom, "And im not one for manners," he glanced at roman, expecting him to know this more than anyone, "But I dont think we should keep him waiting."

San followed him; the man was something else that was for sure. Tall and burly, though he walked with such a casual air that had no sense of refinement, almost as though he didn't care. San on the other hand, was light, her walk graceful. The two were stark opposites and the thought almost made her smile. His partner appeared quickly, introducing himself with a name that sounded like the sound dolphins made. "Roman, it's a pleasure to meet you." San held out her hand to shake, as she thought was the polite thing to do. "I'm Tsukuyomi, but most know me by San." The moon God of the Shinto religion. San didn't think she was anywhere near deserving of the title of a worshiped entity, but apparently, that's what she was.

His appearance was much like the other Mayan brother in the respect that he was tall and burly, but the similarities ended there. Their hair colors alone were night and day, black and blonde. One had both eyes, the other wore a patch, perhaps having a scar or injury that afflicted him. Whatever the case, San couldn't help wondering if his depth perception was off. Could he complete missions well with one eye? San thought, then realized that was rude and shook her head.

San heard Sirius tell Roman that she was an interesting girl. Quite frankly, the female wasn't sure how to take that. Had he meant it in a positive or negative sense? How could he determine such a thing just by exchanging three or four short words? Unless he was referring to her odd colored hair and eyes... Self consciously, San looked down. She was used to the teasing of course, but it never ceased to make her feel uncomfortable. San wasn't ashamed, no, nothing of the sort. She just didn't like the stares and whispers that her looks often received. It wasn't as though she could help looking like this. San had tried everything from dye to contacts, but contacts hurt her eyes and for some reason the dye never lasted. While some frowned upon it, others praised San for her edgy appearance before she told them that it was natural and she had no hand in turning herself into a two parted freak.

"Have you been briefed on the mission?" San questioned, deciding to take her mind off of things and focus on what she was supposed to be doing.

Gabriel was tired and more than anything he just wanted to kill the damn witch and call it a day. He dreamt of being home under his bed covers and sleeping until the dawn of the new year. However, such dreams were never meant to be which only left him with the cold reality - literally.

It was easy to tune out the mindless deductions from his partner, but it was considerably harder to ignore his presence when said man opened the door and let the cold air rush in. Gabriel tightened his jaw, and rolled his eyes in annoyance but didn’t give anymore signs of his state of cold.

For such a tall man, one would think he’d always be warm.

"Any place you think would make sense for a Witch to turn into her gingerbread house?” Seth picked up a candy wrapper and began to read the labels while directing the question at the Egyptian pair. It could have been for him, but it begged the question why his partner would ask something he already knew the answer to. Knowing Seth’s dislike for inefficiency it was counter intuitive to everything Gabriel thought he knew.

Seeing his partner sit down Gabriel moved to the door frame and leaned against it, “If I were a witch where would I hide a ginger bread house. He thought for a moment and when the light bulb turned on he nodded his head in appreciation. “Probably the woods. Desolate, dead, and somewhere deep in the heart of everything. After all, that’s where the original story is set.”

It was a guess, but a guess nonetheless and hopefully it would spark some sort of genius into his partner to make the god awful mission end already. Normally Gabriel’s attitude toward his life as an animus was neutral - as he’d come to terms with the responsibility, but when plucked right from sleep to travel to America his opinion was hardly positive.

“Unless they have another idea,” Gabriel looked behind himself to see if the other pair was nearby and listening or off wandering on their own. He wouldn’t put it past Ethel to do so seeing as to how she practically stormed inside the candy shop, and like a puppy her partner would follow.

They seemed to harmonize with each other in a way that was opposite of how Gabriel and Seth worked. From what he could gather in the hour he’s spent with her, he knows that she possesses a certain kind of fearlessness. A fiery intent to be her best, and yet she can sooth a racing heart with her presence. It was odd, and Gabriel wasn’t sure if he enjoyed the feeling of being at peace for fear instilled a permeant protection instinct that’s saved his ass more than once.

Elliot however is calm even without his partner. Gabriel knew beforehand that the boy could control water, but he always associated the element with turmoil. The crashing of waves against rocks or the slow drowning of people who can’t swim. Water, to Gabriel at least, was not a peaceful element and as such despite Elliot having done nothing wrong he would like to keep his distance.

His judgement could be completely wrong however, as it has been many times before.

She couldn’t contain her laughter at the sound of “carefully” hidden distress in her partner’s voice and so she didn’t.The black ball shook alongside her shoulders and it was only the loud squawking of a bird that reminded her of the situation at hand.

Phoenix’s suggestion was rather sound, but the only problem was how the Hell she would conceal a raven sitting on a blob of pure darkness. She let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose knowing what she had to do, but not liking it immensely - and neither would the bird.

With a sudden movement she pulled poncho over her shoulders and grabbed the orb next to her with the bird still on it. It nestled nicely in the crook of her elbow and she could feel the bird trying to fly away, but Amara kept a firm grip.

“Until you transform back, you’re going to stay under here,” a loud screech and a bit to her elbow caused her to wince, “And I don’t trust you not to fly away.”

It scratched her three more times and finally she was fed up with the constant harassment that she let the bird go, but only so far. Amara made it sit on her shoulder and with a glare that said if it pooped or ran away from her, it would have Hell to pay. It didn’t acknowledge her demand but it didn’t move either which Amara took as a good sign.

If worse came to worse she’d make Phoenix fly after Macha where it would then be promptly stuck inside her cape once more.

She then turned her gaze toward her partner and stared into his eyes, trying to look intimidating, "Not a word, you hear?” Amara kept her voice level but the squirming animal underneath her was taking away her seriousness.

The two sisters seemed horrified at what she was doing with Macha but Amara kept them in line with a well placed, ‘this could be you,” line. It instantly shut them up long enough to google search some places to visit - finally their true mission would come into play.

“Kids like art right? Do you think they’d appreciate the beauty of looking at paintings at National Gallery of Ireland?” At the mention of art the twins shook their head no and the crow made a noise of disapproval. Once more she sighed and looked at the kids in silent question of what they would like to do.”

“I want ice cream and cake and cookies!” Bad suggested enthusiastically, Anand quickly nodded her head in agreement with a scream of, “Me too.”

                      “SQUAK.”

These kids were going to kill her, and her wallet. With a look of defeat she turned her gaze to Phoenix and prompted him to either deny or accept their suggestion. It wasn’t fair to him, but then again she would have bird marks on her skin for weeks.

"Hmmm."

Etheline laced her fingers together and stretched her arms out above her head as she contemplated the question posed to her. A series of audible pops and cracks would be heard as she lolled her head from one side to the other, hair falling into her face. After this short display, Etheline began to peer at the others curiously.

As Gabriel spoke, she kept attentive, following his movements across the room and nodding in agreement with his suggestion to look in the woods. The longer they spent together, Etheline too became aware of how polarizing the two pairs were. However much she disliked to visualize the metaphor, she supposed there really was more than one way to skin a cat.

"I would have to say that I agree with Gabriel, if only because it seems like the only lead we've turned up here. It's a little cliche," she wrinkled her nose at this, as if to display her distaste, "But it makes sense, right? Maybe the Witch is operating under the pretense that we would assume that would be the last place she would go. Curious."

She had to begun to ramble now, excited by how what she considered to be a 'case' was unfolding. After a moment of silence, her face decorated with a look of concentration, she chuckled slightly aloud and visibly shrugged her shoulders.

"Yeah, I got nothin' else. Forest it is! When do we go? Also where is it? If it's far, maybe we should break for something to eat first, can't solve a mystery on an empty stomach!"

She slung the backpack off of her back and began to unzip it, oblivious now to the others and focused on the prospect of feeding them all.

A FABULA ON THE HORIZON maccotango
"Interesting girl isn't she?"

Roman glanced at his partner, a less feral but equally enigmatic grin on his face. They seemed to have the same thought in their minds, but that was a common occurrence among the two. They'd gone from fairy tale twins to mental twins in a matter of years due to both their role in the story but also the various missions they'd gone on together. Punching each other, shooting each other, saving each other it all sort of balanced out like the moon and the sun.

Meanwhile Tsukiyomi had her own sun to find.

"Go to your Fabula homeland, find the Amaterasu kid, and haul his ass over here," he shrugged in response to the chimera woman, "if we're lucky he'll come quietly and I can get back to Chicago in time for the sun to set. We're not really sure how powerful his light manipulation is supposed to be, but I'm assuming that you two can pave the way for me to nullify him if things get messy."

Things often did when it came to the Mayan Twins but he wouldn't tell San that. Though he didn't care what others thought of him he didn't want her fleeing just because some shots started firing or buildings started exploding (as was typical with a brute like Sirius).

He gestured for Tsukiyomi and Sirius to come closer as he pulled the book he'd been given by the mission director. It was supposed to transport them to Odawara where they'd have to try their best not to look like total foreigners. Easy for San, not so much for the other two Hispanics.

"I hope you two are ready because I'm not staying behind for either you."

He opened the book, squinting his one eye as it took the three of them across the globe.
