Setting
It's pretty barren. Snow covers the ground, who knows how thick, and the only noticeable landmark is the giant pine tree the towers in the exact middle, often laden with snow. It's almost like a giant Christmas tree, Polaris even forms the topper.

The Clearing is a part of 
The Pines.
Serill landed on a tree branch with a rather noisy clank. He fluttered his wings, waiting to see whether it would give underneath his metallic body but as it gave an ominous groan that echoed across the snowy clearing it held. He gave a robotic sigh of relief and huddled down against the trunk of the tree, which was on the edge of the clearing and well within view of the static bodies buried in the clearing around him. "And now," he said in his monotonous voice. "we wait."
