At a whopping six feet, three inches, Nero stands above most men with a couple of inches to spare and publicly, is known to wear quite a veil of aggressiveness that one can simply 'taste' in the air when in close proximity to him. Though his shoulders seem to be lacking in broadness, and his frame not too big, he still manages to instill fear into whomever he glares at with little fail rate due to the years of violence and carnage tucked into his brown iris, belaying the horrors he has withstood in a way only a proper glare can. He has a crop of short, raven-black hair which although never gains any length, is never properly tended to and is left unkempt and untidy, making it an unattractive site until he manages to clean it. Even still, there never seems to be a single strand of facial hair on him and so his face lays bare against everything the world may throw at him. He sports a thinner jaw, and only an average frame, stealthing his developed strength and conditioning quite well to the untrained eye, for it is only on occasion that you would see him without a suit or piece of clothing to hide the definition in his arms, his legs and on his chest and abdomen. A thin layer of dirt or grime tends to cover his rough skin, and even though he could be considered attractive, most people don't see through the muck of his past battles which restricts his ability to go into a public setting at will without being stared at by pedestrians. His legs only seem to be that much more sizable than the average that the rest of his limbs hold, and by only such a small amount, most people wouldn't claim him a threat to them in anyway, save for his stare. But it isn't his body itself, so much as it is the way he moves as if he were ready to bolt at any second towards one's throat and tear it out instantly. His steps never seem to be solid, as if he's expecting to have to hop back, evade an attack, and even when he's just observing you, you can feel your soul split under the pressure of his eyes.
A solid majority of the time, Nero can only be seen wearing his own custom suit, a lightish brown and black mix, it appears to have a great deal of bulk more than any other pilot's would have. In its center, running up to just behind his neck, it has metal pieces on either side of his chest, as well as a few scattered about on the bottoms of his arms and from the ankle to the knees of his legs. Even with all this extra girth and bulk, he easily pilots with this gear in any condition, thanks to the suit's ability to compress itself to his body, to ditch its size and enable him to operate in space. The suit, when it is activated, slides each of the spaces between the metal pieces into each other, interlocking them, tightening the suit and expelling air out of the suit thus making it skin-tight, for the most part, though by no means is this equipment as small as any other apparel worn by pilots. The upside to the bulk is that it manages to protect him from small arms fire, albeit only in the chest area.
Personality: "Why don't you figure that out yourself?"
Cold, ruthless and despicable have all been used at one point to describe Nero. Known for his incomprehension of the word "Polite", he appears to try his hardest to piss anyone and everyone off by completely disregarding social norms and personal space, all while making it seem so 'stylish'. "Cocky" is what anyone would say, right off the bat when greeting him because he isn't afraid to tell you just how easy it'd be to do this, or how he once did that. When faced with impossible odds, he laughs and spits in their face before stringing together vulgarities and jokes. Not because he's stupid, not because he's scared, but because he can. The only reason this man isn't dead today is because he doesn't want to die, not that he's afraid to. His inability to be scared combined with his knowledge in physical, foot combat and excellent skills inside a mobile suit, he's proven time in again that fucking with him will earn you a one-way ticket straight to hell. No matter the odds nor the situation, he goes into it unfazed and unwilling to lose, and if he ever did? He'd go out with a smile, for he enjoys killing at its finest.
But this is what everyone was told. Upon greeting the crew of the Apollo however....
Nero appeared to be a relaxed man, and had somewhat of a plain, but kind personality. He greeted everyone with a warm smile and shook the hands of those that would, and acted severely in contrast to what was told he'd be like. Smiles? Handshakes? Politeness? Most people
He comes off as a bit immature humor-wise in some cases, but knows when to stop the joking. As nice as he is, he usually keeps the truth of the situation clear, and doesn't often lie, even if it'd be better if he had. This can be a problem when faced with person of greater rank than he, for he can say the oddest of things with a smile on his face. If the Captain asks if he looks good and he doesn't.... well, Nero might've gotten healthy on punishment alone. It might be annoying, but it's a good trait to have, and it makes him fairly easy to trust. Nero has now been shown to be 'good' in that he opposes any inhumane or indecent acts of anything, order or actions. It wouldn't be surprising for him to disobey an order to shoot an unarmed civilian. Is he even a soldier?
Bio: "Ah, just don't worry about me. I'm fine."
Nero is, or rather, was, a prodigy among soldiers during his enlistment. As far as soldiers go, that is. He had never obtained a position of leadership due to a lack of cooperation that had, on multiple occasions, nearly gotten him dishonorably discharged. Quite honestly, the only reason he never did was due to his abnormally high kill count during the engagements he was involved with. Killing more than the rest of the squad that he was in sure did raise eyebrows. Skill like that wasn't truly heard of, and certainly not common. To throw a opportunity like that out of the window simply because he was insubordinate in some cases (and disrespectful in many) was not something the American Army was willing to do. Thusly, 'Raze' - as he was referred to due to a fondness of explosives - became infamous to an extent, both to America's enemies and to his own kind.
Some of the higher-ranking officers in the United States Military give much credit to the dissolution of the Al-Samad, a terrorist organization that had arose twenty years prior. He, along with several other specialists from different countries, performed a series of missions in a campaign against the terrorist that struck mortal wounds to it, with the inevitable death of the leader and founder, Ali Shaheed. Many of his infamy comes from being the person who put a bullet between the man's head during a raid on his hideout.
After being decorated (yet still 'feared') he retired from the military and disappeared into the crowds of New York. He was, by no means, a celebrity, so the public never kept an eye on him. For the most part, he was completely gone 'off the grid' for a length of three years, and in that short timeframe, found a someone who could bear him, much to the surprise of those who previously knew him. Marriage came next, and so did a child. However, destiny did not favor Nero, who lost his beloved during the birth of his child, Claudia. It was around this time that he began hearing about how space travel was improving. Though he didn't consider it back then when he mourned the loss of his wife, he soon did when that same rumor became real and he was sought out and offered a position aboard one of the ships so long as he was of use. He declined any offering of a strictly military-based job, having left such a past behind him, but to make use of his skills, he chose to be the Chief of Security aboard the Apollo, simply because it was a more laid-back job, and because it allowed him to keep a close eye on his young daughter. Compared to his old life, it shouldn't prove to be too troublesome to deal with angered civilians who were most likely unarmed and untrained. Besides, his favorite drinking buddy, Rai, would be on the ship. Couldn't be too bad, could it?
