Yoon Nam Joon

Joon sat up feeling completely sick. He should probably go see the doctor and make sure he wasn't dying. He rolled to his side and saw a familiar face. Well a familiar face amongst many. "Ugh get the fuck out." Joon rolled his eyes, and rudely kicked the sleeping man next to him. "Ouch!" The other man complained once he met with the cold unforgiving tile floor beneath him. "I told you I hate when people I fuck are still there the next morning." There was no time, but Joon developed his own day and nights. Joon got out of the bed and stretched his arms. "I paid you good money, the least I can do is go to sleep." The man stood up and began putting his clothes back on. Joon couldn't stop the chuckle that escaped his lips. "Look you paid for a prostitute not a companion."

If there was one thing Joon hated, it was when good clients would catch feelings for him. It was stifling. There have been so many clients he has cut off just because they developed feelings for him. He didn't know why people did not understand his job application. He has sex for money that's it. Maybe at first he thought he could fall or someone, but not now. Nope definitely not. The people here weren't exactly relationship material anyways. Joon did miss that about the surface world. Authentic relationships. No one needed drugs to say I love you or express their feelings. One could say he regretted coming down here, which he did. He was addicted to some drug that doesn't exist on the surface world, and he could never leave Babylon without getting killed. Maybe in the future he may try to escape. Who knows.

As of right now though, Joon has no will to escape. He was bored with everything. Maybe it was because he has experienced everything Babylon had to offer and he was just tired of it now. Sighing, Joon let his client leave as he took a much needed shower. Coming out, he got dressed and played some classical music as he ate his breakfast. This was boring. No wonder he was high al of the time. He felt like he was stuck in a continuous cycle at this point. Lighting a cigarette, he left his apartment. He wondered the nicer side of Babylon, and saw a couple of clients. He walked right past them, giving them no mind. He went to his favorite bar just to get some stress off his shoulders. The surface world was far from perfect, but this was truly Hell. "Give me a whiskey." Joon mumbled to the bartender, who had his drink ready in an instant. Yet another day in Babylon.

Lillian brushed through her hair in soft easy strokes as she got ready for another busy and grueling day in her own makeshift office just underneath her feet. She had already been forced to get up two hours earlier than usual because one of her clients was busy the rest of the day. Speaking of which.. Lillian glanced at the clock that hung along her wall. He'd be here in about 15 minutes.

Slightly shivering in disgust she pulled her hair back in a tight pony tail and traced her eyes in midnight black liner. Dabbing red lipstick onto her lips, Lillian left her bathroom and grabbed a shirt from her closet. A grey tank top that clung to her figure along with a red leather cardigan over it. Slipping on a pair of black jeans she moved downstairs and opened up her in home Doctor Office.

It didn't take long after for her first client to show up, he was a regular of course. Always needing remedies for his migraines. Most of the time she was sure he was faking it just for the pain killers. This time however, it looked as though he was in genuine pain. "What seems to be the problem this time Mr. Gracina?" Lillian asked, letting the man sit on her operating chair. It was actually a dentist chair, but it was just as well if not better than anything else Babylon had to offer.

"My head.." Mr. Gracina mumbled and Lillian was already sure it had something to do with some sort of drug use. After prescribing him medicine and doing a routine check up to make sure everything else was fine, Lillian smiled at him and wished him a good day.

The man left clutching his head but with a smile this time, most likely happy to get the pain killers. She shook her head and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from underneath her counter and stepped outside. It wouldn't be until another few hours until her next scheduled appointment. Until then she was going to enjoy herself by chain smoking outside of her shop.

It was a day like any other, when he finally had enough. He put the phone to his ear and called, "Guys I am going, come with me." Maybe it should have seemed strange to them that he was just up and leaving, but then again maybe it shouldn't." He meet them at the entrance of the place, the place from which very few people returned. They traveled until they saw light again, but these lights seem like they just entered a club.

"Babylon," Riley finally said out loud.

They had been walked and taking it all in, Meredith had been walking beside him and every so often he would look in her direction. People said he was lucky to have a girlfriend like her, yet he didn't know if luck had anything to do with it. Lately he just felt like he was using her, yet he openly couldn't admit that to her or himself.

They started to get through the places with the clubs that even at what would have been in the afternoon were playing loud music and occupied with Babylon's citizens. Even down here one could tell there were different levels of citizens. Some were dressed in what could be described as the latest fashion for the place. Others looked as if they still had their clothes on from the surface. The area quickly turned into food places, and apartments here and there. The deeper they went the nicer the area, finally Riley stopped in front of a bar.

"So...what does everyone want to do first." He sort of knew his answer, but strangely enough he wasn't going to suggest it. He had heard the rumors for the longest time, about Elysium, the drug of choice for Babylon. He wondered if truly held an escape for those who tried it. Would it lead him to escape he had been seeking, a escape from the deep rooted sadness that he hid so well, even from his friends.

"Elda," he turned to the other and lastly to their other friend, "Should we go back to the clubs, maybe just hit the inside of this bar, even though it sort of looks quiet compared to the others. Maybe we should go plan things out." Was Riley babbling, he had no idea why he was talking so fast or why he just couldn't seem to get the idea that he was finally somewhere where he belonged.

"Go with you?" Meredith had repeated into the phone.

Just pack up, and leave?

For the longest time, she, Riley, and the others had talked about it... but she never thought he would go through with it.

Now, here they were, with Meredith walking at Riley's side and the others trailing behind them. As they walked, Meredith found herself glancing at Riley. In her eyes, he was perfect. They'd been together for as long as anyone could remember. But, it was different lately. He was different. He wasn't the same Riley that Meredith grew up with. That Meredith loved.

Meredith snapped out of her thoughts as she heard Riley's voice, and the one word that fell from his lips.

Babylon.

In all honesty, Meredith had been too busy thinking to even notice that they had made it. Even the bright lights hadn't caught her eye. She was looking around, when she once again heard Riley's voice. And, he wasn't calling for her, he was calling for Elda- which halfway made Meredith roll her eyes.

"Are you kidding..." Meredith mumbled under her breath.

That's when Meredith began to think that's what was wrong with Riley.

Elda.

It kind of all made sense... whenever Riley needed something, he would never consult Meredith. It was always Elda. She shrugged her shoulders and glanced at the rest of the group, metaphorically putting her foot down.

"You know what?" Meredith said into the now silent group, "I'm not standing around, waiting for you two," Meredith motioned to Riley and Elda, "to make decisions." Meredith huffed and turned toward Kadence, the other friend in their group, "You can stick with them, but I'm really not putting up with it."

Meredith's calm personally had suddenly boiled over into rage. She hadn't been in Babylon for barely 20 minutes and it had already managed to flip a switch in her.

Without as much as a second glance, she began walking down the concreted bridge that led into what Meredith thought was a city. It was bright, but, weird-creepy, almost- and made Meredith more uncomfortable with every step she took.

Why in the world did she follow Riley?

Meredith huffed as she walked along the concrete, muttering to herself,

"Welcome to Babylon."

"Portray sincerity act out of loyalty

Hand out lobotomies to save little families
Surrealistic fantasy bland boring plain

Sickening pessimists hypocrite master
Conservative communist apocalyptic bastard
Thank you dear god for putting me on this earth
I feel very privileged in debt for my thirst,"

Matt screamed out to the streets of Babylon his guitar screeched and the growing crowd had begun to cheer and sway. It wasn't every day that one got the opportunity to lay eyes on the most powerful man in one's world. Reverb kicked in and the amps shook the stage Matt's smile was a wild one as the words started to flow again.

"Holy now is restitution
living out your date of fusion
is the whole fleece shun in bastard
don’t feel guilty
master writing

Somebody said that their not much like I am
I know I can
Making up of the words, you go along
I sing your song

downer,"

Matt whispered the final note then dropped his guitar. The crowd wanted more, but Matt hadn't obtained and maintained the presidency by granting the mob their wishes. His band quickly gathered up his guitar and for the first time Matt looked across the street. Alexander had done his job, the shopkeeper and his wife were dead. Matt smiled at the crowd and Alexander quickly ran across the street and leapt onto the stage, they knew who he was also, the crowd quieted . "What did they do again, Alexander?" Matt questioned his most trusted bodyguard. "They aided some of the assassins upstairs." Alexander explained and left it at that. It could honestly mean anything, literally assassins sent to kill somebody down here, or they could have just been believers in a different creed. It didn't matter, not really.

Matt sat down on the edge of the stage and was quickly mauled by swine after autographs and photographs and favors and drugs and sex. He wanted none of those things with any of those two legged animals, not right now anyway.

It was perplexing to him that they treated him to the same kind of adoration and hero worship down here as up stairs. He was a rockstar there too. Up and down they want the same things. Animalistic lust for pleaser and acceptance into the pack. Only up there they'd lie and accept those that didn't belong. Down deep in the underbelly only those that belong are allowed to stay. Matt glanced up and the two dead were being carried towards the river, few if any noticed the bodies being tossed in to the "Mouth of Exodus". All eyes were on the president.

"Another day in Babylon; paradise of the unwanted, the city of evil, the one place I can call home.

All come here to escape, from what? I couldn't tell you exactly. Some from the law, some from society, themselves sometimes. Not everyones story is the same but that is what makes Babylon the place that it is.

It doesn't matter who you were up there, you become who you truly are down here. Your honor roll student may find themselves become a sex crazed masocist. Your football captain may become a homoerotic prostitute. Who knows? But I can help you realise who you are, with some help with my product of course. Elysium.

What is this great and magnificent thing we call Elysium? Well it's a synthetic drug that seems to remove the moral and ethical limits of our minds. What does that do exactly you may ask? It means, in simple terms, that you will do whatever the f*ck you want to do, whenever you f*cking want to do it.

Oh... it seems that I had forgoten to introduce myself. My name is Rivers and I am one of the many drug pushers in the delightful city of Babylon. An incredibly successful one if I may say so myself.

Ah it seems our little talk has to come to an end. It seems the President has finally finished another one of his improtu performances. I wouldn't mind it so much if it didn't seem to wake me up all the damn time... but let him have his fun, after all isn't that all we are down here for?"

As Rivers stands over the now deceased body of another nameless resident of Babylon he wonders why he felt the need to talk so much. He guessed that it would drown out his victims screams as he removed several of their vital organs. Well, he won't be needing them anymore, he thought.

Rivers then proceeded to place the newly aquired "payment", placing them inside a chiller. He then takes the time to look over the room he was in. It was a rather small appartment and aside from the buckets of blood that now adorn the walls and floor was rather clean. Apparently he was a very clean addict.

This wasn't the first time he had to kill a client and it seems it won't be the last. Rivers despised this part of his job but what was he suppose to do? His supplier needed money and if his clients didn't have the cash, they always had organs. I think it's about time that I start supplying myself.

...

After spending a few minutes to clean himself up, putting on his trademark blue italian suit, Rivers dropped off the "goods" to a bagman outside of the appartment. Receiving payment for his services he then proceeded to walk downstairs to head outside.

As Rivers walked down into the streets below he saw a small group of people he had never seen before. New residents of Babylon I guess... Hope they last longer than the last ones, he thought. Guess it's time for me to try sell some of my wares.

As Rivers approaches them he noted that one girl had walked away from the others. Walking towards her he leaned into her ear and whispered, "Have some fun...", as he slipped some Elysium into her hand. "First time is on me... however when you want some more look out for me. MJR, Rivers the Chemist.

Satisfied he walks past her towards the group and declares, "Welcome to Babylon, new blood. Name is Rivers... Your local chemist with the best, Elysium..."

Elda Wyvern

When Elda got the call from Riley, it was like a godsend. She was all ready to go way before Riley even brought up Babylon. Elda was one of the only people to encourage Riley to leave the surface and go to the forbidden city. Now that it was right in front of her, Elda couldn't be any happier. Her friends were right beside her. She could be herself at last. No one was going to judge her harshly. It felt amazing.

Meredith took no time to ditch the group. Elda laughed as she walked off. Meredith never liked Elda, probably because her boyfriend trusted Elda more than her. "That's gold. She can't even stay with us for more than five minutes. Riley, you really don't need her if she's going to be like that." However, Riley didn't seem to hear her. He was figuring out something to do first. "I think exploring is a good thing to do first. Meet some of the residents that have lived here longer. This seems like a pretty big society." She shook Riley a bit, glancing over at [Vanessa] who was always quiet. "Hey, Ri, you're not paying attention again." Elda sighed as he snapped back into reality. He was always like this in a new situation.

"Let's go this way! There seems to be things going on..." Elda started to pull both of her friends in the opposite direction that Meredith went, but they were stopped by a person who claimed to be a chemist that made the drug they had all heard about: Elysium. Elda spoke up before Riley could. "Rivers, huh? How do we know to trust you?" She wasn't having anything until she knew this man was legitimate. She also knew Kadence shouldn't have anything until she can handle it. Protective Elda activate!

As Meredith walked along the crumbling concrete, she could still hear Elda's voice and the distance, and Meredith knew that Elda was lecturing Riley on how he didn't need her- for about the thousandth time.

"Pathetic."

Meredith said, thinking out loud. That's when Meredith noticed a man coming toward her. She didn't think anything of it at first, seeing as- as creepy as it was- Babylon was a city, and people other than her small group of "friends" lived here, but when he began to slow down, a chill ran down her spine. Sure, she was acting all big and bad in front of Riley, Elda and Kadence, but she fearful of this place. She didn't know what to expect.

That's why she almost didn't stop by the time he reached her. But, something about her incident with Riley and Elda spoke to her. For the first time in a long time, Meredith thought, What the hell.

Meredith stopped dead in her tracks as the man, who revealed himself as Rivers, slipped a small item in her hand, along with a business card of sorts. Then he was walking away, down the path she'd just taken down the concrete. Once Meredith was sure Rivers wasn't in sight, she opened her hand to reveal it.

Elysium.

It was a legendary drug, of sorts. At least on the surface world, anyway. She guessed it was a readily available source here in Babylon, however. Meredith stared at the drug in her hand for a few moments before slipping it into her pocket. If she only had this one hit, she wasn't going to waste it now. Meredith took a glance around and continued walking forward. The entire city reeked of something. Like iron- which signaled blood to her- and rotting... corpses?

Oh dear God. Meredith thought to herself.

Meredith walked around for a few more minutes, then saw a guy walking away from a large stage. People were dispersing from it, and she gave another shrug. If there was anybody to ask, he must be the one. Meredith ran a hand through her hair.

"Hey! Excuse me!" Meredith shouted to the man, managing to get closer to the stage, "Excuse me," Meredith said again, clearing her throat, "Could you tell me anywhere in this..." Meredith wrinkled her nose, "Place... that doesn't smell like death?" Meredith asked in a serious manner, her petite body managing a firm stance.

Riley turned back just to watch Meredith walk away, "What the fuck," he said in a whisper, she really just walked away like that, and he shook his head. He should have seen it coming, but not the minute they had just reached Babylon. Now it was the River's guy followed by Elda...and Riley took a step back, to many people, to many voices. He took a deep breath and looked at Elda again, "Sorry, you said something...," so was this guy offering them something. "I'll try some," he couldn't stop the words coming out of his mouth. He needed it gone...he needed these feelings to go away. They started to gnaw again, it was like the light was starting to go dark.

"Elda...I just think I need to be alone, just for right now. You always manage to be ok, just watch out for [Vanessa]" Their other friend hadn't even wanted to come down here. He was barely masking the desperation in his voice, barely able to really look at his friend. He looked back at the Rivers guy, wondering if he expected something for what he offered.

How could she do that... it was like she couldn't wait to just to get away from him. Was he that much of a failure, that she found so easy to walk away.

It was the these types of thoughts that kept running through his head. He was kidding himself if he thought they belonged together, it just seemed like that with everyone. Maybe he shouldn't even try the drug...maybe he was now feeling insecure about that. He just stood there for a second, not really walking away, but just waiting on Elda to get mad or something.

It wasn't uncommon for people to be question Rivers, after all he looked more like a lawyer than a drug dealer. But the way this girl had asked him just didn't sit well with him. It wasn't her tone but more so the "attitude". Maybe he was imagining it or maybe he wasn't.

Bowing ever so slightly towards the group while placing a hand over his heart he said, "I understand. Why should you trust someone who you have just met? But believe me... You should be more accepting of others, considering where you are now"

Rivers then stood up straight, walking closer to the group until he was just a foot in front of the girl who questioned him. Leaning his face towards hers til only an inch seperated them. "After all... you must have some inner demons to battle if you are all here. He said this while gesturing to the other two.

"We are all here for something love. Whether we are; running away, trying to find something, find ourselves or lose ourselves. None of it matters." Rivers then backed away from the group slowly until there was about a yard between them. "What matters is that we are here... And that despite our differences we are all connected by that simple fact."

He then slowly begins to circle the group, changing his eye contact between each one of them. Grining slightly as he dusted off his sleeves. "Now... I can be a good friend of yours..." Rivera then pulls out a cylindrical plastic case from his inner jacket pocket. Opening it he puts three pills in his hand, tossing them up into the air and catching them all several times.

"...A friend with great benefits." As soon as he had pulled out some Elysium the male in the group had wanted to take some. Nothing wrong with an eager client... Just hope he doesn't go too far off the deep end. You really should start off small while adapting to life in Babylon... But what the hell, right?

Rivers then gave the gentleman a pill, tossing him one making sure that he caught it. After seeing the man mull it over for a while Rivers caught on to his thoughts. "Don't worry about it mate. I made it a policy to give a new client, prospective or not, a freebie... However if you want more it will cost you. But don't worry, I'm sure you'll find a way to pay it off. Everyone does..."

Turning his attention to the girls Rivers noted that one of them seemed to be avoiding looking at his hands. Ah... must have been an addict at one point... Sure would love to go a couple rounds with her.

Shaking off his thoughts he had just realised something. "Oh how rude of me... I hadn't asked you for your names yet." Streching forth his right hand for a handshake towards the girl who hadn't talked yet.

"To what should I address such beautiful women like you?"

Joon knocked back his third shot, already bored with drinking. Yeah this was getting really old. It was like he was stuck in a continuous cycle of drinking, Elysium, smoking, and fucking. Nothing much changed in his life since he got to Babylon. He was stuck between thinking life was better or worse. Though recently he is leaning towards life being worse down here. "Thanks for the drink." He slapped some money on the bar in front of him and existed the bar. What to do now? It was obvious. Make money. Joon was going to do what he did best. As he wandered down the street, he saw a group of people talking to MJ. Sure he has dealt with the drug dealer before. If he remembered correctly, he tried to sleep with the man to pay off some debt, but that didn't work out so he ended up paying the dealer in cash.

Joon watched as a girl stormed off seeming frustrated or something. These must be new runaways. They seemed like it at least. Joon couldn't help but notice one of the guys in the group had a similar stare he himself had when he first came to Babylon. It peaked his interest a little. Plus this was a good chance to pick up a client. Slicking back his black locks, Joon headed towards the people. "MJ, the people haven't even been here a day and you're already getting them to buy from you?" He didn't stop a small smirk from growing on his face. Yep these were definitely some new kids. Shame. They had no idea what they were getting themselves into. Shrugging mentally at the thought, Joon turned his attention to the boy he was looking at earlier. "You shouldn't take that alone. You never know what might happen."

It really wasn't a concern of his if the dude died or turned into a serial killer. However if he was like Joon then that would mean easy money for the prostitute. "Here MJ. I'd like to join this kid in his travels to pure bliss." Joon chuckled as he pulled out a hundred dollar bill and gave it to the dealer like it was nothing. He didn't wait for the Elysium he wanted. He reached into Mj's jacket and pulled out a couple of pills. Joon went over to Riley and wrapped his arm around his shoulder. "You look like you need something to relieve your stress." He turned his head to the girls and MJ and nodded his head. "Don't worry I'll return your friend in one piece." Joon began walking with his arm still slung around the others shoulder. "So tell me what's your name? I'm Joon by the way."

Looking down at the pill in his hand, it sort of took Riley by surprise for a second, "Thanks," was the only thing he said to Rivers before the other walked up to them. Riley looked startled by this new person, and maybe it was the way he was looking at him, Riley got really nervous for some reason.

He didn't quite register the words the other was saying to the drug dealer, he just seemed wrapped in confidence. Riley became even more nervous as the other put his arm around him, "Um..I am sure you are busy," that wasn't a very good way of getting anyone to leave him alone, especially since he barely made it audible.

The other was right about one thing, he did need a way to relieve the stress, not only the stress, but the pain also. Of all the rumors about Elysium, the only thing that remained constant was that it changed the user. He looked back over his shoulder for a second, and tried to give the others a smile he wasn't actually feeling. Maybe the guy was right, maybe you shouldn't experience it alone. He had sort of hoped that he could have experienced with his friends, but having Meredith walk away, he didn't really know if it was worth it anymore.

"Riley," he answered the other finally, "where we going." He was curious, was this guy going to take him down some dark alley or something. He had to glance again, well he didn't look like he was homeless, in fact the guy looked pretty well dressed. He didn't smell bad either but why the hell that thought came into his mind, Riley had no clue. In fact with how close he was to the guy, Riley couldn't believe that he hadn't tried to pull away.

"I can walk on my own," he mumbled, it was more of attempt to build up his own courage then make the other annoyed or anything.

Elda Wyvern

Elda just shook her head as some random guy swept Riley away from them. It was nice to see Riley associate with someone other than them. As for the drug dealer, she didn't like the way he looked at Kadence. It was like an animal looking at its food of choice. Elda wasn't having that. Casually stepping between the two, she was careful to block Michael's view of the younger girl. She shivered at the word beautiful. "You may call me Elda." In a way, Kadence was like her younger sister. Even though Elda chose a life of horrible choices, she wasn't going to let Kadence ruin her life again.

Deep down, however, she knew Michael wasn't going to leave them alone until he got what he wanted. If he really wanted a client list, fine. Elda would play his game. She handed him $200 in cash.
