Madoka has always been just a bit behind the curve. While not spectacular in his failings, his sense of being βaverageβ has always drilled in to him a sense of apathy about himself--he is simply nothing special either way. Though he loves people and is genuinely kind and caring, his awkwardness in social interactions leaves him with few close friends, though some find his lack of eloquence and clumsiness somewhat endearing. Out of fear of...well, too many things to list, Β Madoka often puts in minimal effort towards things and tries not to pour too much energy into anything.

Madoka is average. He lives in an average family, with decently accomplished parents and two sisters. His grades are just a bit behind the average, his athletic abilities leave much to be desired, and he is, put simply, unremarkable. Despite this, Madoka could find no reason to whine; he wasnβt failing miserably at everything he touched, so at least he had that going for him. This vaguely optimistic perspective and his good heart earned him enough friends to make him feel comfortable and he found himself living a rather comfortable life.
Still, being selected as the Ultimate Lucky Student at Hopeβs Peak was quite an accomplishment, and one that could potentially help him get more of a head start in life at that. Eager to try something new, Madoka left his ordinary life behind and began the search for something extraordinary.
