Deer Stalker

Son of the Wolf Tribe Chiftain

0 · 394 views · located in Sulis

a character in “Barbarians!”, as played by Irish Wolf

Deer Stalker is a tall man, standing three inches above the six foot mark. He looks human enough, although there are hints at elven blood in his veins, mostly in a slight tapering to his ears. His skin is a naturally light tan color and as darkened a little in his twenty summers of life. His body is strong and well defined, from a lifetime spend wrestling with the other boys in the tribe and learning how to fight from his elders, with many hours spend hunting in between. A pair of healthy brown eyes and a crooked nose, bent from when it was broken more then once when he was a child, dominates his face. Currently his hair, the color of a raven’s wing, is cut in a warrior’s mohawk (the whole head is shaved, save for a strip in the middle, wide as three fingers, three inches tall, running from forehead to the nap of the neck, with feathers tied in at the back), like every other man’s in the tribe. He is also currently sporting red and black war paint on his face and chest.

Like the rest of the men in his tribe, he is currently wear summer cloths, which consist of a pair of moccasins, a breechcloth made from buckskin and a belt of bone beads (dyed black and blue and some left white).

As bold, boisterous and girl crazy as the other young warriors in his tribe, when in the village, Deer Stalker changes when he’s out in the wild. He’s very quiet and serious, always watching the trees. He moves like a predator on the hunt, looking for a perfect ambush or easy prey. In a fight, he prefers to get as close to his enemy as he can before letting out his warcry and attacking with a savage fury. He got his name, because he is able to sneak up to deer and use his spear to kill them, unlike most of his fellows, who use bows.

Deer Stalker was born the fifth son of the aging Thunder Walker, Chieftain of the Wolf Tribe and was the only one to both survive past the age of ten and remain with his father. All of his brothers either died or were taken by other tribes in raids. Like all the other boys in his tribe, he was taught to be a hunter and a warrior from a young age. His days were spend learning how to shot a bow, thrust with a spear, throw a tomahawk and cut with a knife. He learned how to wrestle, move silently and listen to the woods.

He killed his first man at sixteen, when a raiding party from the Eagle Tribe attacked in the early hours of the morning. The fighting was quick and vicious and in the end, he had knifed a man, who had been trying to snatch away his older sister. He killed more men in the following days, when his father led a number of counter-raids, to put the Eagle Tribe in it’s place and gave three scalps to his sister. In the four years that have followed, he’s been apart of raids and led raids himself.
