Introduction

The story is not set in our world, it is set in it's own world, that is similar to ours. There are cars, cell phones, and cameras. I wanted to give it it's own bit of mystery by placing it somewhere unknown.

In the world of Ferya there are people of all sorts. There are demons and angels, dwarves, elves, and of course humans. The world is modern with cell phones and high tech cameras and tape recorders. There is no avoiding the development of new things. Buildings are being built from sheet rock and steel beams. Cares zoom down interstates and planes fly through the large fluffy clouds. Mostly only humans inhabit the busy cities, as the other races prefer to stick to "the old times." There are still many parts of the beautiful world with cottages and farms.

In the small town of Mirrim sits a large mansion. The building is three stories high with a bell tower at the very top. it is said that part of the mansion was once a church. Legend says that the mansion was built by some of the first settlers of the town, but that they had passed away due to a famine and now haunt the many halls. The building went many years without an owner, but it has recently been bought by a wealthy family, who plan to put it to good use.

The Saiforro family has purchased the mansion and worked on it for about a year to make it suitable to live in. Every room has been furnished and it is the family's hope that people will move in soon. Anyone who moves into the mansion will be well taken care of. There will be food on the dinner table for every meal, bedding will be washed, floors swept, rooms cleaned, and constant medical care available. The mansion is open to anyone whom may need it, but it is mostly intended for those with some form of mental or physical illness.

On the first floor of the mansion sets a ballroom, office, dining room, kitchen, five bedrooms with connecting bathrooms, infirmary and several storage closets. The second floor is made up completely of bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and balcony. The third floor, which contains the bell tower, is strictly off-limits. No except the Saiforro family may enter this floor, and it is always guarded.

Barlo Mansion is open to beings of any race or species.

Isamu's hands shook as he took the glass of water from Alice. He took a few long sips and let it sink into his stomach. The cold refreshing liquid was like an eraser, it calmed his nerves and eventually, after a few more moments, the shaking nearly stopped altogether. "Im sorry... " he whispered.

All his life, Isamu was told to keep things to himself and not let anyone else in. but so far, he had never really met someone he trusted as much as Alice. She was quiet and gentle, so maybe, just maybe he could let her in. "If you wan't to talk... we will have to go some place more private..." He then gently took hold of her wrist and led her to the staircase that went up to the balcony of the celebration Hall.

Once at the top he opened one of the sliding glass door and took Alice out onto the outside portion of the balcony, then shut the door behind them.

The balcony was beautiful, it had a view of the garden which Isamu often tended to on his less busy days. Of course, all of the leaves on the trees were gone. The flower bushes were bare and the grass was browned from the cold weather. It was kind of eerie, really, not to mention that the water fountain was not turned on either... it was now just a slab of cold looking concrete. Winter was here, but the snow was not.

As Isamu stared out towards the ground he let out a heavy sigh, "it hasn't snowed once since I came to Barlo... I miss it..." He was mostly just talking to himself when he said this.

Look like a Hawkling? Maybe she'd pick up an extra feather from somewhere and stick it in her hair when this was all over (as it didn't quite go with the dress or so she thought) - Tarik did mention once before that he was homesick so maybe it'd help him feel a bit like home? It wouldn't be the same, she knew that, but if it made him happy then it would be all worth it.

As for actually /being/ a Hawkling, now there was a better idea.. maybe if she saw one, a female Hawkling, she'd be able to change her appearance to further help him feel like home. Oh! She could only imagine the look on his face if he suddenly walked into the Infirmary and saw her, Hawkling-Tawny, waiting for him. But what were the chances of another Hawkling being at this mansion - at the moment, it seemed rather low. Well, the feather would be a good idea, at least.

His initial lack of response had her worried and sent her mind racing, what if he didn't like it? What if he thought the cut-away revealed too much of her legs..? What if- his voice came gently to break the doubts she had and the charming smile made her avert her glance, her cheeks reddening. Her Flyboy certainly did have a way with words that was simple.. but effective. Tawny offered a smile in return then peered down at her feet - darn, she still needed to get shoes. "S-Sorry, I won't keep you much longer." The Coronai went off and grabbed the first pair of heels she saw that she'd hoped weren't too tall then returned with them on, and the blue feather in hand. (The shoes were a pair of black heels, simple in appearance with leather at the tip. The heels themselves added 3 inches.)

Tawny held it out to him, "It'll be my lucky charm, but..I want you to hold onto it until after, i-if it's okay with you."

Tarik took the feather from Tawny and smiled. "Here, how about we do this..." instead of just hanging on to the feather, Tarik reached into his pocket and pulled out a rubber band. he then tied the feather into his hair. After, he took one of the light blue ones out of his own hair and took a step towards Tawny.

"Do you mind?" he asked with a smile as he held up the feather, wanting to place it in her hair. "I'll give you your own good luck charm."

Tawny seemed to be quite unsure of herself, and so Tarik wanted to make her feel better... without having to get undressed. Maybe a sign of friendship would help her feel better. "I don't know why your so nervous today, You should really be more confident in yourself. You are beautiful and kind... keep your chin up a little higher and show of those pretty teeth!" As a doctor, it hurt Tarik to see anyone in any kind of pain, whether it be physical or mental... and as a doctor, it was his duty to make sure that he did whatever he could for anyone.

Today, it would seem, his duty was to instill a bit of confidence in a woman who deserved to think better of herself.

Caught by surprise, Alice followed him up the steps to the balcony. The air sent chills down to her bones and sparked the ghostly feeling, but she refused to the let it in. Suddenly she became nervous and wondering what they were doing up here. She shook in the cold and turned towards him, concerned even though he was rambling about the mundane. "Isamu, what are we doing here? You should be...resting. Or something." But she couldn't be impatient with him. He was hurting, and he was going to provide some explanation.

Wrapping her arms around her waist, she watched Isamu look drearily out over the balcony. She smiled faintly at his words. Simplicity of snow...it really did make a difference. At least he could do wonders with his icicles. It was the first trick she saw him do, and it was marvelous. But now--so much had changed. "Well?" she asked gently, hoping to not prod him too much.

Isamu let out a heavy sigh, "I first came here when I was seven years old. I had run away from my home and looked towards the Saiforro's for help... I don't know why... i guess just because, I saw Mrs.S outside gardening one day and Lark was playing with a ball. The two of them just looked so happy together. Needless to say, they took me in and my life has been a living hell ever since. I wish I had just stayed home... but I couldn't deal with drunk parents and the crime that was happening in the town that I lived in. It scared me and I ran away..."

"The only real thing about all of my abilities, are my wings. I was born with them, everything else is fake. The ice ability I have is fake... the other, darker side of me is fake. I hope you aren't around here long enough to see it, but this isn't the only body I have. The ability for me to turn into an eagle is fake. it's all fake but real at the same time. I guess what im trying to tell you is, the Saiforro's did this to me. I am their experiment. I am their tool and their weapon. I wish I could have warned you from the start, but, once you stay a night at Barlo Mansion, you may never leave. You can try, but some other sense will make you turn around come right back. believe me, I have tried up countless times, to escape this retched hell hole." Isamu then ran a hand through his hair as his anxiety returned and his hands began trembling again.

"The only reason I am not dead yet is because this place is cursed. Not only can a person not leave after spending a night here, but no one may die within the walls of this building from anything other than old age or disease. Noe one can kill you here. I don't really know what im trying to say right now, im just trying to get this all off of my back right now. But... there's so much more to it Alice. Not only have the Saiforro's robbed me of my childhood but... I don't even care about myself... I only care about you guys and..." he trailed off and stared out at the trees for a few moments before looking Alice in the eyes, his own eyes filled with fear of the unknown, and a true sadness.

'Alice... Airi is my daughter."

Alice's face went from concerned, to curious, to worried, and back to concerned again. Why had he been keeping this to himself for so long? And why was he telling her, of all people in this horrid place? She held up a hand to her forehead and paced on the balcony. For a moment she forgot that she was ever cold. Her internal advice to breathe wasn't exactly working at the moment. She had stopped breathing but moved back and forth. It was hard enough to deal with her own secrets, her own darkness. But what Isamu was saying was completely triggering older emotions. She felt enclosed somehow.

Her hands gripped the railing and she finally took in an icy breath. "Well," she whispered. "Isamu..I.." She shook her head, not sure exactly what to say. This place..it scared her even more. Isamu, her dear friend; even he had struggled and held such horrible truths. What did that mean for her, then? Could she not at least have some joy and comfort in anyone here?

Alice's eyes suddenly went glossy and wet. Salty droplets skidded down her face like snow itself. There wasn't a real reason for it, only perhaps she felt lonelier than ever after hearing what Isamu had to say.

"And the mother?" she managed to ask after clearing her throat. The cold was hitting her again and her gaze drifted back inside towards the guests. She saw Airi, and sighed. The poor girl. And Isamu. Her eyes caught Jordyn among the crowd. At least he wasn't missing and in trouble, as Alice assumed about everyone else. He may not have been safe--just as no one here was--but at least he was there. Her hands rubbed her pale cheek and she returned her attention to Isamu, seeing him differently. Not as the playful creature who awed her with his sculptures, but as a combination of unwanted creations. It was all...a mask. Just as she had thought.

While the most obvious part of his Extrasensory Perception was the vision aspect of it, his hearing was also a great deal enhanced. He adjusted himself on the floor - which felt weird, moving to change a minuscule detail about his posture - and looked up at her as she spoke to him. His vision maintained the blue-tint but he furrowed his brows slightly, focusing to see what she really looked like and it came as a small surprise that her hair was actually blue as well but.. hers was pretty though.

Warden smiled softly at her words, only understanding some of the English here and there.. 'Sorry', 'Thank you'.. that was about it, unfortunately. The young boy turned his head away, not wanting to hurt her with his foul breath and thought of his words before speaking, "Sorry. I..no English..ั€ัƒััะบะธะน." The last word was Russian for... well, "Russian" which, again.. coincidentally sounded close to the English (pronounced : Russ-ki).

Ah, the stupid language barrier. It'd be so much easier if he could just speak English, or if she spoke Russian.

"She's gone," was all that Isamu managed to reply at first. His voice was quiet, and just barely audible. He remained in his spot and once again stared off at the garden below. "It wasn't a romantic thing... just something that Harold had insisted on and threatened us into. She died a few days after giving birth. Airi was premature, which is probably why something has happened to her legs. But I am not sure... I think maybe she didn't develop correctly or something. But Airi's mother and Lark were the only two people here for me, keeping me sane."

"I have come so close to losing my sanity so many times, but I prevented it from happening. Having Airi has given me a will to control myself. I would never do anything to hurt her... I would never be able to forgive myself. If it wasn't for Airi I would be even more of a wreck I am now. So many times I wished I would die, but she gave me a reason to keep fighting. She means everything to me... Airi is the most important being in my life and I will never change my mind on that."

He took a moment to be silent and think to himself before speaking again, "Even though no one may die here, I will have my revenge." His hands balled into fists, "The only exceptions to the curse are the Saiforro's. He is not protected, they are the evil doers. The curse exists because the original owners of the mansion were murdered long ago... and who did it? I bet you can figure it out yourself... I am just waiting for the right day to put my plans into action and free us all."

"it is my belief that once the Saiforro's are dead, the curse we be lifted and we can all leave."

Aria looked at him confused as he turned his head away realizing for some reason he didn't understand her. When he spoke she paused a moment then chuckled. " 'Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize you didn't speak English.' " She said in fluent Russian. " 'As a fairy I have an adaptive tongue and learn languages easily.' " She smiled at him, he really was a good person. She repeated what she had said to him in Russian.

When Mr.Saiforro stared at her, the inu tilted her head which made her ears flop over to one side and she blinked at him. He had a sorta funny look on his face and she mirrored it with the way she returned the gaze - looking like a lost pup almost, staring into the unknown vast space that was Mr.Saiforro's soulless eyes..or he just looked funny. Yeah ! That was probably it !

When he took out his wallet, she dug into her bag and pulled out the notebook from earlier. Turning it to the first page had, in neater handwriting than her own, a listing for number of unique dances and number of dances to be performed along with the prices beside them. All he'd need to do was select the types of dances he wanted (as there were more than one sphere of traditional Japanese dance - including Kabuki, Buyล and Noh Mai; the last of which, she probably wouldn't perform as usually men played both male and female roles in Noh Mai), then she'd collect and be out of his hair.

Although, he was so nice that it probably didn't matter to him at all~

As painful it was to hear every word coming from Isamu's mouth, Alice started to finally realize what was going on around here. It was the first time she had gotten answers, the truth. It all made sense now. Why Isamu was so restricted, and yet determined. Why the Saiforros were so...bone-chilling. And why everyone here couldn't seem to leave. Even her.

"Isamu, I'm so sorry." It worried her that he hadn't moved a muscle since they went out on the balcony. He'd been putting on this statue-like stance all day, and no doubt because his body was too weak to do much of anything else. She couldn't imagine how hard it was for him to watch over his charming little girl and never get to hold her. Did the poor creature even know what she was in for? And her mother...It took all of Alice not to grimace at the fact their daughter had been forced. So much torture, and yet Isamu was still there. Still standing. Still willing and determined and worried. Her pale hands covered her face as more tears trickled down for him. After a moment of silence, of being completely frozen, she lifted her face and peered up at him. He'd never be the same silly creature she had met who didn't know how to play a simple game of truth-or-dare. It was such a small moment and happened so long ago (at least it felt that way) but it was the moment Alice believed he showed his true self, and what he would be like if he were happy.

"Does anyone else know?" Alice asked, cautiously creeping towards him. She didn't know whether to be frightened or saddened by him. "Can't we...figure out someway to help? Heck, there are people down there socializing with the very monsters who did this to you." Everyone was in danger. Tsukasa, Lark, the pleasant man Alice met--and the first person she met--Jordyn, and..of course, Isamu and his daughter. So why this event? Why put off the torture by covering it up with this...nonsense?

Alice's breath was visible as she let out a sigh. What a horrible moment to spend in such beautiful scenery. There were so many hidden treasures like this simple balcony and its view. She could just imagine what a sight this mansion was before the darkness took over. Elegant, blissful, easy. She turned towards him after her mind had wandered and placed a scared, gentle hand on his arm, hoping to not only comfort him but herself.

"Hm..." Harold scratched his chin in thought as he looked at the notepad. He then pointed to the Noh Mai dance and dug into his wallet. After counting the bills he held them out to Darla, "Thank you, young lady, for showing up to give us a wonderful performance. I am sure that everyone will enjoy it. There is a dressing room down the hall if you would like to put a costume on."

-----------

Isamu let out a heavy sigh, "The only other person that knows is Lark. None of the guard seven know. Im sure Ellra has an idea, she can read me so easily... but I am so afraid that Harold will brainwash Airi... he already has her believing that she belongs here. I just hope she never forgets that I am her father. She knows, but im sure they are trying to convince her otherwise. Im lucky enough they even let her call me her uncle... at least then I don't feel so far away from her." He watched as soem tears slid down Alice's face.

Alice's hand was warm on Isamu's arm. She may have been freezing but his body temperature was lower than that of a human's anyway, "Don't cry for me Alice," he told her as he took his scarf off and draped it around her shoulders, "It's a waste of time." He then turned away from her to stare off at something in the distance. "Your shivering, go on back inside, I don't wan't you getting pneumonia too. Im sure Tarik would be thrilled," he stated as he let out a small chuckle. it was a sad attempt at lightening the mood for sue.

------------

When Airi, Damakos, and Jordyn entered the Celebrations Hall Isamu was no where to be seen. Airi frowned, "Where did he go!? He was right t-there!" She stated angrily as she pointed to the column where he had been. "He said he would be here all day!" The small girl then crossed her arms as she continued to sit atop Damakos' shoulders. Lucky for the other two, the small girl was not in the mood to throw a fit today. Mrs.Saiforro had had a long discussion with her the previous night, about being a proper young lady.

Seriously, who could expect such things from a three year old? At least she didn't eat mud or glue!

Alice could only lift her eye brows in response to his attempt at a joke. It brightened her a bit, but certainly not enough. Her skin tingled as he covered her shoulders with the scarf. It wasn't much, but the extra layer definitely brought some warmth. She was about to ask if he wanted to head back inside but thought better of it. The privacy was more important than the cold. Being away from the crowd was refreshing. At least out here they could at least pretend to forget everything that was happening inside.

"It's not a waste, Isamu. I can't help it, you've been so kind to me. To Tsukasa. To everyone, really." She shook her head, overwhelmed again by his past. "You don't deserve this."

Alice took the ends of the scarf and wrapped them around her arms and waist. Her face was stinging in the cold and wind. The tears on her face were nearly dry, but her eyes remained glossy and bright against the snowy landscape.

Isamu looked at her as she wrapped the scarf even tighter around her shoulders. He took hold of the bottom of his sweater and pulled it up over his head, then held it out to Alice, Here, if you wan't to stay out here then you'd better cover up even more..."

Isamu had been wearing a short sleeved shirt underneath the sweater. He had never worn one in front of any of the residents before. From the edge of his tattoo, a long scar started and trailed up the underneath of his arm. Their was a matching one on his left arm as well. They were faded from growing over the years, and were very light now. The stretching of his skin had caused them to become less visible.

His arms were scrawny and thin. What muscle that may have been there in the past was no longer there. His collar bones were particularly stand-outish.

"Alice, don't be scared... I will make sure that nothing happens to you. Okay? I don't wan't you to get caught up in my affairs."

For just a moment, Tawny looked at him curiously and let her eyes follow his movements as he tied it in his hair. While another person might've found it strange that he just randomly had a rubber band with him, the Coronai found it incredibly resourceful and saw the potential uses that it could have within his job as the Mansion's doctor; not quite the best tourniquet but a twist here and a tie there (with some fabric, of course) and you could proper plug up some blood.
More focusing on the actual action though, she felt a bit moved that he'd put it so close to him - it was almost as if he was letting her be a part of him.. and he would be a part of her with the feather he offered. Wait.. what..!

Tawny shook her head quickly and tried stammering out an answer when she realized she hadn't said anything, "N-no ! I mean.. I don't mind.. sorry." Geez, this was why she had up that faรงade, wasn't it? She was beginning to realize now how weak she was when she didn't allow herself to take charge and make all those sexual advances on the object of her desire. But.. not everyone liked being pushed around - her Flyboy was one of them. Not understanding why she felt this way, so vulnerable and so willing to drop the act, all she did know was that she wanted him to be happy. And hers.

Slowly, she approached him and turned her back to him - she was assuming he would find it easier to place the feather there.. and also that he didn't want to face her when she did it. And, maybe it was a good thing she wasn't facing him because his next statement made her blush something fierce. "Me..? I'm not beautiful." Physical beauty only went so far and she knew that even if she changed into 'gorgeous' or 'sexy' celebrities like Angelina Holie or Megan Wolf, she'd still be ugly beneath it all.

Pretty..teeth? Her hands raised subconsciously to her lips and a small smile broke through.

Blinking, Alice watched the poor, bony creature--experiment, whatever he was--start tripping off more layers. With one hand still gripping the scarf, she reached out and took the sweater. It was soft between her fingertips. "You won't be cold?" she asked. It was bad enough the way he looked. She wouldn't want him freezing on top of that. But without waiting for a response she pulled it over. Instantly the warmth spread from her neck to her chest, arms, and top of her thighs. It was beyond big on her. While Isamu was tall and long and lean, Alice was only 5' 3", a baby dove compared to a hawk. She hugged it tight to her, smelling what must have been what Isamu smelled like--warm, minty, like a Christmas tree. Her eyes fluttered down as she soaked up the warmth but she fluttered them open she almost gasped.

His body...it looked like it was destroyed. His flesh was almost as transparent as her ghostly form. It was like someone sucked the soul out of his body. For the first time her eyes caught his tattoo, and from there a scar. A trailing scar. Could he be in any worse shape?

"Isn't it a bit late for that?" Alice smirked. Considering everything that's happened, it was impossible to not be part of his affairs. Or anyone's, for that matter. Living in the same place means you're close to everyone, whether you liked them or not. "I wish you could at least..eat. Can't I get you something? You can't go saving people without your strength."

A small smile came to his face as he watched her enjoy the warmth of his sweater. "I will be fine..." he stated as he lifted up his hand and conjured a small ball of ice, "I really like the cold... it's when I feel the best. I miss snow for sure but... I don't know... I may never see it again..." he then flexed his hand and the ball evaporated. "I actually get very sick during the hotter months of year. it has something to do with my ability to control ice... and if I eat too much salt I can't make the ice appear. It's strange really, but fascinating all at the same time."

He watched Alice for a few more moments before speaking again, "That sweater suits you," he said as he studied her attire.. The sweater was certainly very baggy on Alice, but at least she would be warmer now. "I suppose you are already caught up in my life now anyway. Just don't go getting yourself into any trouble, okay? Don't let any of the Saiforro's know that you know whats going on and what has happened. It won't be good if they find out."

"Also," he added, "Continue to stay away from the third floor. You don't wan't any part of that business..."

"Of course you are beautiful, why would you think otherwise?" Tarik smiled and tied the feather into Tawny's hair. "There, it looks great! The feather matches your hair perfectly," he told her happily. "Now, lets get you back out into the Celebrations Hall, shall we? Don't you wan't to show off those pearly whites?"

It made Tarik feel good to be kept busy. His homesickness began to disappear and he was actually beginning to enjoy himself. Sensing that tawny was nervous, he placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, "Don't worry Tawny, these fancy things aren't really for me either. Just stick with me if you wan't and we can get through it together! Now lets go, if I don't get back there soon the Saiforro's may begin to wonder where I wandered off to..."

The young man then began leading Tawny off towards the door, "Just take a few deep breaths and you will be just fine!"

For the first time in a while, the corners of Alice's mouth perked up. "Thanks." She looked down at the sweater, chuckling. Of course. Just when she got rid of the baggy clothes, she was in them again. Isamu continued to warn her about the Saiforros, but it was as if he were on repeat, constantly making sure she'd be alright.

She sent him a little smirk. "You think I ask for trouble?" Everything always happened around the girl. It was as if she were caught in the middle of a chess board--people moving and appearing and doing /something/ every which way. In her way, at least. But it didn't matter. Nothing she could really do about it now.

Of course, Isamu ignored her offer to help nourish him. Perhaps when all this was over he'd return to his normal self. And maybe even be happy. Alice felt useless. She didn't have anything to offer, didn't have any wings or destructive skills. It would be pointless for her to try--well, at least that was what she thought.

Not bothering to ask why the third floor was forbidden--he probably wouldn't tell her anyway, considering he didn't want her to be a part of whatever "business" that was --and since there was no urgent reason to go back inside, Alice sighed and took a step back. Shutting her lids, she let the cold sink in and her breath relax. Her body swayed a bit in the breeze and after a moment her skin turned pale white, then nearly transparent. A soft glow could barely be seen outside in the light, but there was one outlining her body. "I don't think you were awake when this happened. I tried to use it to help heal you but...it didn't work." Her fingers went to touch his arm, but they went through his arm rather than resting on top of it. She wasn't a ghost, exactly. No haunting expression was cast on her face, nor did she bob up and down and act as a person's personal poltergeist.

Her gaze fell, not sure how Isamu would respond. Perhaps she didn't even expect a response. But he had shared so much with her, and it encouraged her to balance that out by providing some insight into what she was.

Isamu watched as Alices skin began turning ghostly white. he found it quite amazing because, well, he had never really seen anything like it before. "That is very... fascinating," he told her as he lifted his hand and gently brushed it through hers. "I have never come across someone who can make a transformation such as this one..." At this point in time Isamu was relaxed enough that the feathers on the back of his neck had finally retreated back to wherever it was that they had come from.

"I don't wan't to ask you about anything too personal, because it is not my place. but, what race are you?" he asked her with curiosity as he continued to move his hand back and forth through her petite fingers. "Being here most of my life, I have not seen many things... nothing such as this for sure..."

"Which reminds me... what is there out there beyond the mansion now? What is it like in the towns and meadows? I wish to know... is there snow? Do you like the snow?" Suddenly, the young man was full of questions, his curiosity finally shining through. "I wan't to get out and see everything, especially the horses..." A smile came to his face as he began thinking of he and Alice's game of truth or dare.

It was nice to see him distracted from everything else, even for just a moment. But fascinating? Alice sighed as she started to regain strength in her flesh and gradually returned to her human form. As a result her fingers were linger on his. They were warm compared to her previously chilling state. She quickly retrieved them and slowly lowered her arm.

Alice recovered with a small smile. No one had really asked anything about her. Besides the basics, she was always one to adapt among the others to keep herself from getting hurt. That, or she'd put her energy into helping others. "I don't know exactly. I do know that...my mother, she was a ghost. My father is human but..." There, no need to get into that story now. Besides, Isamu had moved onto other images.

"Snow. Snow is so beautiful. But the rain...that's always been my favorite." It was interesting and so, horribly sad to hear Isamu ask all these questions. They were all simple things, but he'd been locked up for so long that he couldn't even enjoy..snow.

"I came from a small town. No place you'd ever hear of. Everyone knows everyone. There's a few cobblestone streets here and there. A pond..." Oh, the pond. As a little girl Alice would venture out behind her cottage house and peer into the waters and see her reflection, matching her transparent flesh. "But there's still..bad in the world. I left that all behind so I could escape it. Now I'm frightened, but at least I don't have to go back."

Isamu smiled, a genuine smile, "I wish to see the snow and the horses. Once I get out of here I am going far far away and I am taking Airi with me. We will find a small house in a field and live there... and have horses, im not sure what I could do for a job though. I don't really have any skills. I mean, iv'e been here most of my life so... im not sure what im even good at doing. I don't think I have any talents either. But we will be okay..."

"Is there anything that you have ever wanted in life? What are your dreams? You don't talk about yourself a whole lot... I would like to know more about you, if that is okay with you."

It felt good to have a distraction. Alice was kind and gentle, and so listening to her soft voice was enough to keep Isamu distracted from all of the horrible things that he had been going through, even if it was only for a short while.

Alice raised a brow and smiled. Horses, how random. But he was so determined to have them in his life. Listening to his plans was heart-warming. He had visions of the future, good ones. No wonder he'd survived all this. He had a dream worth living for. "I'm sure you will be fine. After what you've been through...you can do just about anything."

When the questions got directed at her, Alice switched her gaze back over the landscape. She was beginning to get uncomfortable. These big questions..she never thought about them. At least not since she was a child. It was hard for her to tell just anyone these things. While Isamu could go off into his beautiful wondrous world, Alice blocked herself from any of it. She just tried to keep herself out of harm's way.

At this point, what more harm could be done?

"I loved my mom.." Alice whispered finally. It wasn't an answer, really. But it was all she really had. Anything good from the past all returned to her mom. Beautiful, tall. Always laughing. "When she passed, my father.." She gulped, then after taking a deep breath, "he hated me. I reminded him too much of her. From time to time I'd transform without thinking. She'd weave into my body because her soul could still travel. But my dad, he was just a human. He couldn't handle that. So I left." She'd leave out the abusiveness for now. It wouldn't be right to have him take pity on her after all he'd been through. She was there to comfort, not to bring him any further down than he was. "I guess I wished I could...get her back. But I can't. And I don't even really remember her."

Alice sent her fingers into transparency. She looked down at them, studying them carefully and just wondering. "Other than that, I guess I haven't really had time to think about what I want. It never really seemed to matter."

To Jordyn, the 'Celebration Hall' looked, to him, like a rearranged Dining Hall and he really hoped that's what it really was - he couldn't fathom making an entire room separate and apart from the mess hall just for the odd occasions like these. But, when you had money, you did all sorts of irrational things, he concluded..
It was strange though, he was already irrational and he only had the money he picked off people during his nightly runs. It wasn't like he enjoyed stealing odds and ends, money placed under the pillow from the 'Tooth Fairy' or cookies there for Santa but.. a guy had to eat, right?

The adorned fingers of his right hand went to his chin in thought as he pondered the young girl's words of displeasure, "Maybe.. just maybe..." Jordyn raised his left hand to similarly stroke Red's chin, for double the deduction prowess - clearly, "He went.. to use the bathroom!" Brilliant. A large grin played on his face as he retreated his hand (although he knew Red dare not attack him in the middle of the Celebration Hall) and nodded, a rather complacent look on his face for solving the mystery.

--

A small wince played on Darla's small frame when he'd pointed to the Noh Mai - well, it didn't matter! It was there because she was prepared for it but it wasn't, by any means, her favourite dance to perform. In addition, poor Mr.Saiforro probably didn't understand what any of the terms meant and just chose one at random, so it was fine. Darla's tail wagged happily behind her, much to the displeasure of guests who began walking in awkward fashions - darting here, backing away there - to avoid being swatted by the length of fluff that made no sign of stopping.

Mr.Saiforro was such a nice person; Darla smiled up at him and accepted the colorful paper, eyes quickly scanning over the numbers to ensure they matched the number in her book. When she confirmed that it was a match, she did the strangest thing.. she barked.

No sound came from her lips but the small, unmistakable action was there. The inu deposited the money into the duffel bag, fingers nimbly pushing the bills into a secret pocket held against the lining and she upped the bag with her equipment. His last words irked her slightly but her human mind kept her in check; the dress accompanying Traditional Japanese Dance was NOT a costume, it was called a kimono. Or in the case of the Noh Mai, a kami-shimo (a hakama and waist-coat with larger, or exaggerated shoulders).

Well, if the language barrier was there then he didn't see what sense it made. It made Warden a bit sad to think there here was someone who was willing and open to be his friend - for the first time in his life after his change and he couldn't talk to them - he began to question why he left the Motherland.. aside from the crowds of radical Orthodox followers who wanted him dead for 'falling to sin'. His own friends and family.. he'd much too quickly been exposed to the real world.

"OH?" He'd said in shock when the first words of Russian left her mouth and much too excitedly, he'd responded, <<Oh wow, oh wow. That's so cool. I didn't think I would meet someone else who was from the Motherland as nice as you. Who are you? What's your name? How is your hair blue? Can you fly?>> Without realizing, he'd filled a good part of the bedroom with his smog and he stopped himself there, his cheeks reddening with his own chagrin.
