On the opposite railing sat a kestrel. Her feathers were brown grey with others mixed in as well. She was a very pretty bird and had a sense of pride. Her belly was stained with blood, and injury that she had obtained before fallowing Damakos around.
The other bird, was a large white eagle. He sat on the floor in between the others. His feathers were the whitest or all white, his beak was curved and sharp. All in all he was a regal yet dangerous looking animal.
The five birds perched there, at the top of stairwell and chatted. Unlike Isamu, they could communicate using the human language, while in their bird forms. "The Saiforros are back... what does that mean for all of us?" One of the swallows asked. His voice was full of worry as he stumbled across the words that he spoke.
"We'll be fine, Lou. Keep your head up and your ears open," one of the other swallows added.
"No... not only watch out for the Saiforro's, but watch out for Isamu as well... he may be the head guard, but he is on their side. I wouldn't trust him with anything, and especially not my life. He is a dangerous threat to all of us... if you can, make sure that you're never alone with him either.... it could very well be the end of you." The white eagle spoke with a strong and deep voice. He was an important figure and the other bird's took his word when he spoke. They trusted him and his dependability. To them, Isamu could not be counted on, so who else were they supposed to trust? Well, why not Ivan, the white eagle? He was second in line to be the head of the guards if anything were to happen to Isamu.
"Isamu's in the infirmary... I think he had pneumonia... now is your chance, Ivan, if you would like to be the head of the guards. I suggest you go forth to the Saiforro's and speak with them about it. Isamu is thin and sickly, I don't understand why they even had him in charge of us. The head guard should be the strongest and most reliable of all, not to mention healthy as well."
The Kestrel remained quiet through the entire conversation. She was especially disgusted by Jason's remark, the last bird the speak. She despised the sparrows, and the white eagle as well. Ellra (the kestrel) couldn't help but think that something else was going on, something very dark and secretive. Why were even they, the guards, not allowed on the third floor? Only Isamu was allowed in there, as far as she knew anyway.

Upon reaching the top of the stairs the door to the third floor opened. Inside it was dark and chilly, and once Isamu dissapeared into the darkness the door slammed shut and locked behind him.
