What you need to know
Some children are born with unique abilities that make them all special. Maybe they are smarter, more impulsive, calmer, shyer, louder, anything that makes them a better fighter or opponent. When they are very young, children are given "monitors", or little robotic implants put in them, to watch their every move and see how they think. If the children show no sign of being extraordinary, they are taken out around the age of 3, but if they show promise the monitor is kept in until the age of 8-10. Then a representative from battle school comes to recruit the child to train to be in the army to fight against buggers in the upcoming years. At the school, students undergo a rigorous curriculum, designed to teach military strategy and tactics. As befits an elite school, only the very best and brightest students are taken. The common age of "graduation" is usually 16-18. While at Battle School, they are taught academic subjects; especially a heavy grounding in mathematics and science, a setup for work in space.
However, the academic work is not the complete focus of Battle School. Rather, the true evaluation of the students occurs in battle simulations which are run by the school's instructors. The students are divided into 6-10 person armies. They fight mock battles in null gravity, armed with harmless lasers and suits that freeze when hit with a laser shot. These battles are used to test the tactical aptitude of the students. The object of the game is supposedly to 'destroy' or freeze all the enemy soldiers and then pass through the gate from which the enemy had entered.
But the buggers are getting closer, and the battle school is getting desperate. More children are being taken, and the training is harder. You don't just have the choice to try to fight, you must because food is being withheld and you wont survive 3 days of this training without food. And sleep is a hidden withhold. Are these children tough enough to take it, or will the crumble under the pressure?

Alex smiled, saluting her and going to to a random bunk, unlocking his locker to pull out his desk. He typed in his password signing in. He opened up the word program and immediately started typing, his fingers flying wildly across the screen in a manner of typing up a plan, then deciding it wouldn't work and starting to edit it.

"I was under the impression that a sucessful commander would have to trust her troops to succeed," LeeU began, with a smile curling his lips, his eyes twinkled and he leaned against her desk, "One that doesn't trust, lacks respect,"
"I wonder how Dr. Larken thinks you will be able to lead us if you're so afraid of relationships. Of forming bonds... of trust," his eyes never blinked once as he started talking. This was so much fun. "Are you afraid of someone using those bonds to hurt you?" LeeU observed her carefully.

Jessica sighed again, signing off her desk and putting it down to stand up and look at him. "I've trusted before, but it got me no where. Larken has seen my work with squads before, and knows better than I will understand that i somehow do a good job at it. Obviously, you are as good with your skill as you led on. But I am guessing you would like to know why I am the way I am?" She left space for an answer. She was pretty sure he would want to know, her past being interesting and shocking at the same time.
Tear nodded up at her leader and took in a deep breath. Her leader was so not going to like her report.

"Since a few of us are quite small, due to our age, we could ambush them easily but even then, our chances at winning are not high."

"That's not all correct," Alex said from his bed. He was listening to them while making more plans, and had heard a flaw in the girls speach, but would wait for his commander to tell him to speak of it. He felt rude for call out the girl, but he just couldn't seem to help himself. He was certain of one key factor leaning into their team.

Sometimes it was better to not mention it, but there does come a time when people must face it. Maybe it was time for her, to speak it out loud.

"Well i grew up in a small town outside of Los Angelos. I don't really know the deal with my parents, but i grew up on the street. OUr group their was like a squad her. You have your leader, or commander, and then the rest of the group. They were all boys. All of them. And I was the small 4 year old girl who couldn't take care of herself. So the oldest taught me to fight. Do you know what it's like having a stranger who is 10 years older than you punch you until you can't remember whats happening?" "It won't matter if he can kill when we are battling here. It's not actually a battle. Flash suits and flashguns. That means no pain. Normal fighting skills wont apply" Alex said, surprised she didn't know. Most people did, but it was understandable.

"Sorry." Alex said, a smile coming to his face. "yeah. Pretty much you aim them at whoever you want to shoot. But instead of a bullet, they get frozen. ITo get it to work you have to have it on them for a few seconds before it kicks in. If you shoot their core, their whole body is frozen, but if you only get a single limb, that's all that freezes."

LeeU followed her out silently, shutting the door firmly. His shoulders were relaxed and his mind felt stable. That didn't happen often. She had told him more than he thought she would say. That made him wish his little sister was there with him. He missed her trusting and open nature. He'd see her in battle. He leaned against the doorway to the bunks, listening to the others reply. Maybe in due time, she'd let him in a little more.

"Well lucky you to think up all the battle strategies," Tear wrinkled her nose. "My gosh, there must be so many possibilities." She started thinking, but she really wasn't a strategist, she was just the girl that saw if the plan would work.

LeeU grabbed a towel quickly and headed to the showers. Hygene was important. He washed as often as he could. He'd take two a day if they had let him. He just liked feeling clean. Was it that much to ask for? He turned the water on to steaming hot. The scalding water felt dazzling on his skin. He chuckled to himself. Maybe he was kinda strange after all...

She nodded at him, then glanced quickly at the leader. Tear didn't really like her. There was just something cold about her that the young girl didn't like. But she gave a quiet sigh, Phoenix was her leader no matter what. She would do the best she could and hope for the best.

Jessica followed after LeeU into the showers. They didn't have one for girls, and one for boys. There was just one big room with 12 showers, thin shower curtains serving as the only thing to keep you hidden from everyone else. She entered on towards the center, the safest because people always went to the back and quickly started showing, the water cold on her back. She could hear a few other showers on, but she wasn't quite sure. Every minute or so she would check just outside her shower to make sure her towel was still there. People often took others, but it wasn't a huge deal considering it was a school thing to not have to wear clothes, especially in your barracks or at night.

Shellie hopped into the shower and felt all the sweat and muck roll off her. She washed her hair and scrubbed her body until it was spotless. She grabbed the towel and wrapped it round her body, before getting changed into a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a tank top. She lay down on the bed and waited for her orders.

Tiger and griffin for when we start? That'll work. Once all the characters are in i will look over them and see who is best for what team. One of my characters will be a commander, so that's one more. Who want's it? They must be at least 15.

Just so you all know, before we start we will need at least 12 students because we need at least 2 squads and each needs at least 6 students. Feel free to make double characters if you can handle it, or tell people about this so we can get started sooner.
