....However, it is not just any normal day.
Lights flicker in the city-wide planet. Communicators malfunctioning. Television screens turning static. The skymobile police corps begin to worry.
Was this a terrorist attack?
Or perhaps a signal of an oncoming Beastman invasion?
...But neither terrorist nor Beastmen could attack with this wide a range, or this fast a pace.
The giant screens all over Neopolis flickers for a couple more seconds......until suddenly, they stop.
And proceed to turn back on.
But it's not the beauty salon advertisement, or the cheesy romantic comedy trailer, or the Napishtim Federation propaganda that played.
Instead...this is what everyone sees this day, this moment, all over Neopolis: The visage of an otherworldly, apocalyptic creature.
An echoing, sinister voice. A voice that reeks of malice and challenge. A voice that, even if you know comes from far away, you can feel creeping up behind you....
"Sons and Daughters of Stratevaria.....I have called from the edge of your known galaxy.....My name is GEHENNA, and I am here....to provide a challenge."
The screens flickers.
"I have extinguished countless stars and annihilated innumerable galaxies..... I challenged them all...and none prevailed. All of them burned in my lake of fire.
And it is your galaxy's turn....your military is in shambles, your government is powerless....and yet they say, in times of despair, heroes rise.....
But how far will they rise....before they fall and burn? One year, I will wait. In one year, the gates of Megido will open...and I welcome all who are brave enough to journey there..and face me in mortal combat.
Defeat me, and acquire countless powers...... fail....and Stratevaria will....BURN."
As GEHENNA concludes his message....all the lights in the city are extinguished.
A few minutes of complete darkness covers the entire planet. The engines may run, the lives of the people may be safe...
....But for how long?
