Dr. Arthur Nielsen, born Arthur Weissfeld, hunted down and traded artifacts in exchange for getting family members out of the country before working at the Warehouse. He thought the items were worthless, and didn't understand why people would want them. Artie worked for the National Security Agency as a cryptographer when he was in his 20s and decoded Soviet communications. and intercepted letters and phone transcripts for them. He turned on the NSA (though, no one knows why when he contacted a person they were spying on and sold secrets to the Soviets. Mrs. Fredric stepped in and "fixed" everything for Artie. Because of this, he is now known as Artie Nielsen in order to stay hidden from the Soviet government. After becoming Artie Nielsen, he joined the Secret Service, and later the Warehouse. He has dedicated more than half of his life to work in the Warehouse.
