Introduction

The Story

Image

This world is no mystery to you. You live it every day. It is a mundane rut that we have all fallen prey to. We wake up, do our work, come home, eat dinner, and watch TV until we can no longer keep our eyes open. Rinse and repeat. This has worked for us for generations upon generations. We have never wanted to change. Things are peaceful in this world, things are normal.
It is time to wake up. This is all an illusion. We hang on to this fake piece of normalcy because if we actually choose to see the truth we would have to do something about it. You would probably miss that program that is so important to you that you have set to record on your precious DVR and yet, you watch it while it is recording anyway. I am about to force feed you a giant serving of truth, and you might not like it.
Brace yourselves; the world is not all what it seems.

Every email address in the United States received this letter. It was untraceable, and mostly disregarded as a hoax. The truth to this letter is more terrifying than any of its readers are willing to admit. For hundreds of years unique people have been born to this earth. Their powers are all over the spectrum. You name something bizarre, there has been someone born who could do it. Many of the miraculous individuals of our past have been part of this special population. Harry Houdini was one of the most well known. He supposedly died of a ruptured appendix; the truth of his disappearance is much more disturbing.

Image

People gain these powers in a variety of ways. Some are born with them, some are learned, and some gain them in accidents. They have been often confused with super heroes, but in reality they are prisoners. People want normalcy, and anything that does not fit the bill is locked away.
Area 0 is a top secret underground government facility. It is here that they house these supernatural beings. They are tested, and there are no rules. Many have died in Area 0’s walls. The testing is harsh, the conditions are inhumane and the people living underneath are ready to rebel at any moment.

Introduction

This is a modern day role play. All of the characters will either be people with extraordinary powers or a few of them will be agents from Area 0. The role play will start right before the rebellion and the escape. I will allow for a max of ten players. No more than two of these will be agents, aside from the Area head, which will be played by me (only so I can help with story progression.) A few of the “heroes” are encouraged to at some point in the story go “villain” to create protagonists. So it would sort of be a band of “heroes” versus a band of “villains”

Toggle Rules

Rules

1. These people are to be extraordinary; they are not to be unstoppable. They need to be well balanced with strengths and weaknesses.
2. Romances are encouraged but if you are going to go any where that is past a PG13 level, I suggest taking it to private messaging.
3. Do not.. I repeat…DO NOT sign up for this roleplay unless you can commit. After the start of the role play I will require at least a daily post. If you cannot give a daily post and do not notify me with a reason within three days I will find a way to get rid of your character. I don’t mean to be hateful or mean about this rule but that seems to be the case with most role plays.
4. If you are fighting another character, (which I greatly assume will happen) do not ever write it in such a way they do not have a chance to defend themselves. Give them a chance to react. On the flip side do not evade everything or counter everything another player throws at you.
5. Most of all please have fun and if you have any ideas or questions please contact me

Character slots

Please contact me via OOC or PM to reserve your character. If I do not think your writing abilities are up to par I will not accept. Or if someone makes a better character for the slot. I don’t mean to pick favorites but I do expect good solid writing from the players. I will be taking one of the extraordinary people as well, but I will wait and see what is needed more heroes or villains. I do not need all slots filled to begin, with at least 4 people of power I will begin the RP.

Raven looked down at Clay, and then gave him a blood thirsty grin. Why bother threatening him? Just kill him. She raised the knife slightly preparing to bring it down on his exposed neck when she was distracted.
“Zarganna Dawn, it is you who have picked the wrong day to mess with us.”
Raven rolled her eyes. Brilliant! Now the stupid agent is here. Nonetheless wouldn't hurt to tick her off a bit…
Raven turned her gaze back to Clay, when another scuffle bought her eyes back to Angel and Zarganna.
Raven was seriously irritated now, and was about to say as much when she found herself staring at the barrel of a gun.
She quickly realised it was not aimed at her, but what was most unnerving was the fact it appeared to be hanging in mid air.
"Everyone, make a break for the southern gates, now,"
The voice appeared to be coming from the direction of the gun, and a brief probe detected the apparently attractive young man Raven had seen earlier. Raven smirked slightly, not quite so attractive now. She then processed what she had heard. Make a break for it? Raven felt like some spoilt little kid finding they could no longer keep the toy they'd found. She glanced down at Clay, her fingers itching to bring it done to his neck, logic telling her not too. After all she needed help, no doubt about that. Unfortunately her illusions were not going to help her unconscious. Then there was Connor…
That did it, with a grimace of irritation Raven dropped the knife and managed to walk over to where Connor was blown to by a rather annoying Clay.
"Looks like we're to go to the "Southern Gates" " Raven said with her usual sarcastic tinge to the words "Shame we don't particularly know where that is".
She moved down the corridor, before a strange boy in a gleaming metallic mask got her attention.
"Well, it looks like the agents are planning a masquerade ball for us, isn't that nice Connor?"
Sensitivity was not one of Raven's strong points. The boy didn't say a word. Annoyed by his silence, Raven probed through his memories.
<That's rather interesting> Raven sent to him <Seems like you'll stay silent. Doesn't bother me, people that don't talk back are a rarity. You can say something back just by thinking. At least then I won't end up bleeding out my ears. Doesn't really appeal to me. Not much does nowadays anyhow.>
Turning to Connor she stated.
"I like him. Won't talk back, can we keep him?" she asked mockingly, a sadistic smile twisting her lips upwards. It wasn't hard to open the cell door from the outside, and she opened it with a flourish, before sighing as her fatigue drained her good humour.
"Hmm. Now what do you suppose we do about them?" she gestured to the crazy fire lady, the good-natured guy with a book case, and the stupid necromancer, Ana. She didn't really like any of them, however the one that pointed the gun at Clay and the one with the bench were alright. She was annoyed that she had to rely on people to get out, however herself and Connor had been deeper in this maze of cells and honestly did not have much clue of how to get here. Plus the stray boy they picked up appeared to be new from his memories.
"Anyone want to actually tell as where the stupid gate is?"

Zarganna
~~~~~~~
Zara didn't know what to feel or what to think. Her whole body felt numb as her mind hummed with ideas on how to get out of this terrible mess. Her whole body seized with fear of this one small woman. As she stared down the barrel of the gun, it was as if nothing else mattered. Only the own crackling of her fire calmed her nerves. Every muscle in her body screamed at her to run, to flee for her life. She had tasseled with Angel before and the result was always the same...failure. Locked behind bars again, trying desperately to think of an escape plan. Something was different this time, when she looked down the barrel of the gun she knew all was lost. Angel would not keep her prisoner this time. She had caused enough chaos. Before she could even decide what to do, the gun was seized from Angel's hand and she was smacked in the head with it. It would seem she had an invisible savior.
Angel
~~~~~
Filthy mutants. How dare they put her world into chaos. That is all they are good for. Nasty creatures. Nothing brought Angel more glee than the fear shining in Zarganna's eyes as her gun stared her straight in the face. She was trying to think of something witty to say. Something for that nasty demon girl to take with her to hell, suddenly her gun was jerked out of her hand. Before she could deduce what was going on and get her pistol back she was cracked in the back of the skull with it. Angel hit her knees. A lesser woman would have went unconscious. Thankfully due to a training accident in the Corps she had a metal plate in her skull. It didn't stop it from hurting any less. Her head hummed with the force of the blow. She heard a voice encourage the freaks to escape. There was no way in hell she was going to let that happen.
With a sudden burst of rage she lunged at Zara, locking her tightly in a hold. As if it were some sort of fluke, Angel was not burned.
"Clay! After the prisoners!" She turned to whisper in Zara's ear. "Are you surprised demon? I too have a few uncanny abilities. I'm not a freak like you though..what i do i do to protect this world from the likes of you. I bet your dad wished he couldn't burn. Or perhaps not. At least this way he doesn't have to see his daughter as a freak."

Zarganna
~~~~~~~
"...daughter as a freak." Something snapped in Zara"s head. Her senses told her this was Angel's ploy. It was quieted buy the fierceness of her rage. she quickly slipped free of the hold. Darkness poured out of her. Her hair whipped more wildly, letting the demons almost take complete control. This wasn't good. Even if she killed angel, Her powers were fading fast. If she was unable to force the demons back into the darkness before she ran out of juice the demons would be free of her control and would act on their own accords. Ash almost consumed her body. Her death was inevitable if she continued at this rate.
Clay
~~~~
He had failed again. These freaks had made a fool out of him and he would not let it pass idly by. He darted quickly away from the gun pointed in his direction. Before Angel had even told him to do it he was chasing after the mind freak and her frosty boyfriend. He used his wind to pick up speed and caught up to them right as they were releasing the voice freak.
"Do we have to do this again... or will you go back to your cells like good boys and girls?"

Everything was moving quickly now. Jonah was about to launch the bookcase at Clay, but he stopped himself when he saw the girl had him at knife-point. The bookcase held him in place against the wind, which was dying down now, and he hesitated with it above his head.

Meanwhile, Zara seemed to be firing up for a really big attack. Jonah felt a feeling of foreboding as he watched the black markings on her body grow, consuming her. Was she burning herself up, he wondered? Would her smoldering body turn into nothing more than a human-shaped lump of charcoal? This line of thought stopped abruptly and his stomach dropped unpleasantly at the sound of a familiar voice.

“Zarganna Dawn, it is you who have picked the wrong day to mess with us.” It was the area head--Angel. She had her gun trained on Zara, and her murderous eyes betrayed that she was not here for crowd control. She intended to kill.

It took a moment for Jonah to react, and in that moment, several bizarre things happened quickly: Angel's gun jumped out of her hand of its own accord and cracked her in the head, and then the gun aimed itself at Clay. As it did so, a bodiless voice called out: "Everyone, head for the southern gates, now!"

Right, the plan, Jonah thought. This was it--he had spent a year in this place, but with all of them together they could get out. As long as they could get rid of the two agents--or at least distract them long enough to get a head start. Clay was free from the girl's grasp now and was readying two more knives. Jonah hurled the bookcase at him, but he didn't watch to see if it hit him, seeing Angel tackle Zara. He rushed at them both, just as Zara slipped free of Angel's grasp. The agent lunged for her again, but Jonah grabbed Angel's ankle and threw her off course.

Zara looked weakened from using her powers. Jonah's hands hovered over her, remembering how hot she had been when he'd touched her earlier, and from the heat emanating off of her now, she might actually burn his skin if he tried to help her to her feet.

He desperately mimed lifting her, knowing it would be easy for him if he could just touch her--and then his eyes nearly popped out of his head as her whole body lifted off the ground as if he had touched her. But as soon as he lost his concentration, she dropped again.

Did he do that?

Connor nodded at the <Good thinking.> Raven sent to him. He knew she wasn’t one to say thank you and that was as close as she was going to get. He glanced over as one of the others hefted a workbench over his head and demanded that Clay get away from Raven. He figured that was slightly inefficient since he had frozen the agent in place.
”Get back in your cells quietly and I won’t hurt you…much.” He looked back over at Clay who looked really annoyed with all of them. That’s when the wind picked up and Conner was sent back a few feet, before he managed to freeze his own feet to the ground. He looked up and noticed that Raven had a knife to Clay’s throat and others were being flown around by the increasing wind.
One of the others that had been thrown back, and out of site by the wind, came sprinting in with a bookcase over his head. Show off. He thought to himself. But he had to give him some credit, he didn’t run off to the exit but instead came back to help.
He felt the woman from before starting to increase her abilities. Her body turning slowly to ash and her eyes pure white. He didn’t like her all too much, he could feel the heat rising and so to compensate he made himself colder.
That’s when he heard a voice coming from around Clay. ”Zarganna Dawn, it is you who have picked the wrong day to mess with us.” It was Angel, head of security, and she had a gun pointed right at the one she called Zarganna. Connor was about to freeze her solid, when her gun seemed to act on its own and jumped out of her hands then knocked her in the back of the head. He smirked; finally she got hit by something and got sent to her knees. He decided to leave her with a cold chill anyway; unfortunately his abilities weren’t up to par yet. He figured the cold would get to her sooner or later, her body feeling like it was freezing from the inside out. He almost laughed at the thought of how annoyed she would be.
Then a voice came from the spot where the gun was. ”Everyone, make for the Southern gates, now!” He was slightly bummed that the gun wasn’t acting on its own; it would have been cool if it did. But sadly no so he decided to listen to the voice. He did want to get out as soon as possible.
He noticed Raven had gotten a little irritated and came over to him. ”Looks like we we’re going to the Southern Gates…shame we don’t particularly know where that is.” She started going down the corridor and he followed her, dusting off ice from around his ankles and feet. “Is a shame….would make things so much simpler if we did know, wouldn’t it?”
Connor stopped behind Raven and he saw what she was staring at. It was a boy with a thick metal mask over his face. He looked at him, he seemed ok, and he didn’t look like he had been here long. He wasn’t bone thin and he seemed slightly frightened. ”I like him. Won’t talk back, can we keep him?” He glanced over at Raven, and smiled at her mocking tone. “I guess so, as long as he doesn’t cause trouble and get us locked back up.”
He watched Raven open the door and release the boy, using the last of her strength. “You really should have let me do that.” It would have been a simple task to freeze over the lock and shatter it.
”Hmm. Now what do you suppose we do about them?” Raven motioned towards the others, he looked back at them. They seemed to be doing well by themselves. ”Anyone want to actually tell us where the stupid gate is?” He agreed, Connor and Raven had been deep in the maze of cells, they had no idea where the exit was. Even during his escape attempts, he hadn’t been out long enough to find a hint of the exit. He looked back at the new kid. “Do you have any idea where the exit is?” He said in an almost demanding tone. He didn’t know if he would answer but anything would be better than staying in this place and being locked up for the rest of his life.

Zara was growing weaker by the second. The Demons began to take form and held Angel, as in stuck in her own personal hell. The fire blazed around her, a whirlwind of orange and red, if the circumstances would have been any different, she would almost be a breathtaking sight. She was dangerously beautiful, and the power flooding from her body was deadly.
"Angel Jones, your death is inevitable. I will send you where you belong, In the depths of Hell!" These words were no longer her own, as the demons possessed her mind and body took control. Angel fought against her demons as they threatened to steal her body for their own. The demons reared her back, fire raging, one shot to end Angel's existence.
Zara used her last surge of power to shove the demons back into their realm. As the fled her body so did her power. She was about to crumple when suddenly, she was weightless. She was fluttering in the air. For a moment, she thought she was dying, perhaps she was going to heaven. Then, suddenly she dropped through the air.
She looked up weakly to the face of a young boy. He was attractive, too serious looking. His face was deep in thought. The deeper in thought he went, the more weightless she became. Was this sweet man rescuing her? She was touched, and didn't know how she was ever going to repay him.

Angel
~~~~
For a moment, she thought she was a goner. She had lost her gun, lost her perp, and was being held by something she could only describe as the essence of evil. Then suddenly, it was over. Zarganna was down, and it looked like she might succeed after all. She quickly pulled her gun from beneath her skirt and pointed it at the boy coming to Zara's aid. Jonah, that was the boys name. She recognized it from his file.
"You don't want to do this Jonah, let the girl go, I wont have to hurt you. I might not even have to keep you prisoner. A person like yourself? You could be a great asset to the Area." Angel was lying of course, but she was a pro at it by now. It had come to this, completely surrounded by mutants, she would be lucky to get out of this alive, let alone with any prisoners.
"Join me Jonah,"
The sounds of fighting were becoming louder. Landon pressed his face against the bars of his cell as tightly as he could, which wasn't easy given the bulky metal mask around his nose and mouth. Feeling his heart beat faster with anticipation the boy began to pace in his cell. Not knowing the source of the noises was killing him. And then there were footsteps. Light at first, but they soon grew louder. Landon expected it was merely another guard. To his surprise, a young woman rounded the corner and came into view.
She was young, perhaps around Landon's own age, lithe and petite with long black hair and steely eyes that stared into his own. It was the gaze of someone who was much older than what their appearance suggested. He instantly knew she'd been here for a while and had more than likely been through her fair share of strife. And then she spoke...
"Well, it looks like the agents are planning a masquerade ball for us, isn't that nice Connor?"
Landon was puzzled by her remark...until he saw her eyes fall upon his face mask. Was she...making fun of him?
Another person joined the mysterious girl. A boy with white hair, whose gaze also fell upon him, and sent a chill through Landon's chest.
Then something incredible happened. Landon heard the girl's voice again. This time it didn't appear to be coming from her direction, however. A closer look and Landon realized her lips weren't even moving!
<That's rather interesting. Seems like you'll stay silent. Doesn't bother me, people that don't talk back are a rarity. You can say something back just by thinking. At least then I won't end up bleeding out my ears. Doesn't really appeal to me. Not much does nowadays anyhow.>
In an instant, she knew about him - his ability. She said he could respond by thinking. If that were the case then...
<What's going on? Who are you?>
Landon surprised himself somewhat. One would think that being unable to speak conventionally, you would be full of questions and comments. But as of right now, those two summed everything up rather efficiently.
"I like him. Won't talk back, can we keep him?" Again, she was making fun of him. It didn't quite bother him, however. Under better circumstances, he may have even smirked at her comments. With that, the girl unlocked the door to his cell with ease. It swung open and he stepped out cautiously. These people were obviously like him. They weren't guards - but that didn't make them any more trustworthy. Still, it was progress. Who didn't like progress?
As the noises of fighting grew ever louder and sirens blared warnings overhead, Landon was completely overwhelmed. Over the noise, the white-haired boy called out to him.
“Do you have any idea where the exit is?” His demanding tone caught Landon off guard for a moment. Then, he collected himself and tried to think back to where the guards had taken him...
There was the laboratory where that creepy doctor was. He remembered being walked past a mess hall too. But before that...? Landon tried his best to concentrate over all the commotion. He'd woken up while still in the transport vehicle. He remembered the gate well. Offices lined the far wall and there were various detectors and security checkpoints by the front. He remembered staring down the hall to his right to...the barracks? No, that wasn't right. They were closer to the lab. The gate...the gate... Oh!
It was past the mess hall and directly across from the main office! He remembered because he had to wait there while the staff assigned him a cell.
Snapping back to reality, Landon stared at the white-haired boy and pointed down the hallway, past his cell. They were heading in the right direction!
He was about to turn and run with his two saviors when a deep voice paralyzed him.
"Do we have to do this again... or will you go back to your cells like good boys and girls?" It was a man. Tall and menacing, he stood before them like a brick wall. Even the air around him seemed to swirl eerily. Was this it? Was he really going to make it three steps out of his cell before being caught? Instinctively, he took a step back. Then another. Looking to his left and right, Landon hoped either of the two could do something to stop the man. If they were like himself, they must have powers too. But maybe their powers too were locked away by some kind of device like this mask...This mask. If it were off, he could use his voice. Landon knew it would be too powerful for the boy and girl to stand - even if they covered their ears, but still...it could be used as a bluff. A threat, perhaps?
He reached up behind his head and fumbled with the lock on the mask. No good. It was made of metal and he couldn't even feel a clasp of any sort. He looked at the other two, his eyes pleading, hoping they would understand what he wanted...
"You don't want to do this Jonah, let the girl go, I wont have to hurt you." Jonah's attention was directed again at Angel, and this time he was looking down the barrel of a gun. It seemed the agent had come double-armed.
"I might not even have to keep you prisoner," she continued, and Jonah thought he read sincerity on her face. "A person like yourself? You could be a great asset to the Area." She was either offering him a deal, or was very good at bluffing. He really couldn't tell.
He stood over Zara, trying to figure out how to react to Angel's strange 180. He had only been here a year, but he knew there were only two types of people in this facility: us and them. His answer solidified in his head.
"Join me Jonah," she prompted when he said nothing.
"Never," he said, and with a huge burst of effort, he lifted Zara remotely and threw her with his mind, sending her out of the corridor to where the witch and the white-haired boy had disappeared. At the same time, he heard a gunshot and felt a sharp pain in his shoulder.
“Is a shame….would make things so much simpler if we did know, wouldn’t it?”
Raven smirked at Connor. She liked him. His cold qualities matched her own perfectly. Much better then those irritating overly happy people- optimists. How she hated the word.
After teasingly asking to keep the strange mute, Connor gave her the okay. Not that she would have listened to him if he hadn't agreed. Or that's what she told herself. In truth, she would probably listen to him, if only a little. Screw everyone else though.
“I guess so, as long as he doesn’t cause trouble and get us locked back up.”
Raven felt a slight buzzing in her mind, and a little peeved she opened her mind to the masked boy.
<What's going on? Who are you?>
Raven considered ignoring the questions, but thought better of it. If she wanted to keep him, she might want to be slightly civil. . . that is as civil as Raven could get, which didn't quite fit the definition of the word.
<Raven and we're getting out.>
Her thoughts were clipped and sharp, not taking a thought more then needed to answer the boy. Raven liked "technically" answering questions, while giving not much information at all. She liked infuriating people. That was when she opened the door.
Raven was still ticked off about being weak, and it did not help with her opening the cell.
“You really should have let me do that.”
Raven shot Connor a cranky glare. She was not in a good mood.
"I don't particularly need help" she said carelessly, secretly seething because in actual fact she was relying on everyone else.
“Do you have any idea where the exit is?”
Raven laughed slightly at Connor's demanding tone, before realising he was referring to the masked kid, Landon by his memories. She was about to say that he wouldn't talk, when Landon pointed down the hall. Her face lit up. So, it seemed she had made a good choice in an accomplice/follower. She re-worded what she was previously going to say.
"Oh. Don't expect a verbal answer from him, he doesn't like you. He'll only answer to me" Raven said smugly, like a little kid again, forgetting her previous toy until he came bounding in front of them.
"Do we have to do this again... or will you go back to your cells like good boys and girls?"
Raven's smile dropped from her face once again. She didn't like her previous toy when he had dangerous accessories.
"Children shouldn't play with knives" she stated in a purposefully exasperating childlike manner, before sending a rather desperate thought to Connor.
<I don't think I have the energy to do anything this time. I don't suppose you could handle it?>
A touch of worry tinged her voice until she was distracted by Landon, who backed away from Clay and tried to remove the mask without success.
Oh look, the dog is trying to hide behind his master she thought rather distractedly, before coming back to the situation. She glared at Clay and his knives, and her scowl deepened as her leg throbbed with the reminder of her last encounter with the two.
Clay
~~~~~~~~~~

Clay met Raven with the same intense scowl. The only thing he hated more than himself was these freaks that faced him. At least he was doing something to change his life. He was better than these mutants, if only barely.
"Children shouldn't play with knives" Her voice was like venom as she spat the words from her beautiful lips.
“It is a good thing I’m not playing then, isn’t it?” Clay smirked, reading his knives for the fight that was upon them. Then, his eyes settled upon the masked one. He shuttered, a chill creeping across his skin. Some mind control, a little cold, these he could handle. He thought back to when the Area captured this boy. He thought of the destruction that boy could bring, if he could use his voice. The mask kept Clay safe for now, but what would happen if he got it off. Clay would just have to make sure it didn’t last that long.
He crouched, and using the air to heighten the speed his knives, he threw them at Raven with lightning speed.

Zarganna
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She had never felt so useless or so guilty in her entire life. Her whole body felt on fire, but in another sense. Instead of literally being aflame, her body ached with dull burning. She would rather be on fire any day. She listened helplessly as Angel attempted to sway poor Jonah.
“Join me Jonah.” Damn her anger. If Zara had been able to keep her cool, she would have had enough energy to end this. Angel could get under her skin, always could. The seconds that passed between Angel’s offer and Jonah’s answer felt like years. Her life was in Jonah’s hands at this point. If he sided with that monster in baby blue, Zara could kiss the idea of seeing the sky goodbye. She could kiss breathing past the hour goodbye.
“Never” Zara was suddenly tossed down the hall. She landed with a soft thud. She heard a gunshot. She screamed and could not help but let tears well up at her eyes. Jonah was the first person in years that ever attempted to help her. As quickly, as her battered body would let her she stood.
She stood at another cross road, help Jonah? Help the three down the hall? Helping Jonah meant facing Angel again, meant a chance of death. Helping the others was her best chance of survival. Three was enough to get away from Clay.
“Damn my kind heart,” She muttered bitterly under her breath. She looked at the half dead agent lying on the floor. She knelt beside him, and turned him so she could see his face. His eyes were open, pleading. She thought about backing down. She knew escaping wasn’t going to be easy.
“They don’t call it a curse for nothing,” she laughed, it was a bitter, watery laugh full of contempt and sadness. She bit into the man’s shoulder. As the blood flooded into her mouth, she found her strength returning, not much, but enough.
Angel
~~~~~~~
She hadn’t aimed for the head, or the heart. She only meant to wound him. He fell to his knees as the bullet tore through the meat in his shoulder. She walked over to Jonah, her heeled boots clacking on the hard floor with every confidant step. She dug her heel into his hand, making him cry out a little. If he wouldn’t help her, he would bring her the mutant who’s blood she wanted the most.
“It isn’t smart to piss me off Jonah,” as if it were clock work, Zara emerged out of the hallway. Blood stained her pale skin, the darkness of her skin down some.
“Have a nice meal?” Angel asked with sickening sweetness. Zara resisted the urge to go all out again, she focused on Jonah, on the floor and bleeding. She knew in this state, they would never win a fight against Angel. They needed time. They needed to get away. She closed her eyes, her white hair glowing red as she called upon the spirits of fire. The white-hot of the flame coursed through her veins, bringing her comfort. The two spirits held her as they emerged.
She grabbed Jonah by the arm, pulling him to his feet and ran away from the scene. Angel screamed as the flames grabbed her, screamed as the mutants fled from her.

Zarganna
~~~~~~~~~~
With Jonah in tow, she ducked into a closet. Neither were in any shape to fight Clay. They would be a liability. Quickly, Zara welded the door shut. The fire spirits would hold her long enough, and then dissipate. They were much less evil than the spirits of shadow. They obeyed much better.
“I won’t be a help to you for much longer, but if you keep bleeding like that, neither of us will be.” She looked into Jonah’s eyes. Despite the darkness of the closet, it was light enough to see, her body lightly glowing. She smiled.
“Thanks, for your help,” she winced and smiled sheepishly, “this is going to hurt like a bitch.”
She placed her hand on his shoulder, and let the fire burn at her palm. It quickly cauterized the wound.
“We will have to get you real medical treatment later, the bullet is probably still in your shoulder. This will have to do for now.” She burned the metal on the door, making it malleable, ready to break open.
“Whenever you are ready, we can get out of here.”
Connor smiled as the kid in the mask pointed down the hallway; in the direction they were headed. ”Oh. Don’t expect a verbal answer from him, he doesn’t like you. He’ll only answer to me.”
He rolled his eyes; obviously he wasn’t going to get a verbal answer form the kid as long as he had the mask on his face.
He paused as he heard a voice and turned around. ”Do we have to do this again…or will you go back to your cells like good boys and girls?”
He frowned at Clay; he had somehow freed himself from the ice and managed to get more knives. This breakout was just getting harder and harder now wasn’t it?
Connor glanced over at raven as he felt her in his head again. <I don’t think I have the energy to do anything this time. I don’t suppose you could handle it?>
He smiled, it was about time he got to do something, and he was starting to feel a little left out, only a little.
He looked over at Clay, who was glaring at raven, and Connor glared at him. He watched clay get down in a quick crouch then launch his knives at raven.
Immediately he stood in front of her and brought his hands up. The knives were stuck into a two inch layer of ice, coated on Connor’s arm. The ice faded off his arm and the knives feel to the ground. “You should never let go of your weapon. First rule of combat.” He spoke in an almost indifferent tone, he wanted out and Clay wasn’t going to stand in his way.
Connor coated his arms in a small layer of ice; he decided he would have a little fun with clay, while he had the small chance to do so. He formed an ice spear and held it up, and jabbed one end towards Clay’s leg.
<Raven, and we're getting out.>
Her answer was short and simple. It explained the situation rather effectively and yet, the answer only filled Landon's mind with more questions. Had he really just communicated with her through merely thinking? Was it because of the girl's ability? What else, he wondered, was she and this other boy capable of?
Landon's answer came a bit sooner than expected when the white-haired boy 'Connor, she called him?' blocked the agent's blades with a sheet of ice. Eyes wide, Landon nearly stumbled backward at the sight. It was unreal - like something from a comic book or movie. This wasn't supposed to happen in real life! Then again, neither was making someone's spleen rupture with the sound of your voice. Having his entire grasp on reality pulled out from underneath him was horrifying and yet, somehow, exhilarating.
Quickly, Landon pieced together the puzzle. These were people just like him, in one way or another, who were escaping this prison. And that agent...whoever he was. He'd actually thrown knives at them! Like he had permission to kill. Were their lives truly forfeit here? Was he actually in danger of dying here?
A flood of adrenaline swept over the boy as the situation became all too real. His hands frantically fumbled around the lock on the back of his mask. If he could get it open, if he could use his voice - No. Speaking was out of the question. He would bring all of them down in an instant. That didn't exactly sound like a victory to him. But he could threaten to. A silent bluff may be enough of a deterrant to stop this conflict and yet still, the strap on his head wouldn't give. Then, as if by some spark in his mind, the boy had an idea. Praying it would work again, he closed his eyes tight and his mind screamed...
<'Raven! Raven! Please! Help me get this mask off! I can help us, just please! Raven!'>
Over and over he ran the thought through his mind. Shouting, pleading for the girl to hear him. He didn't know how her ability worked or if she'd even be able to hear him again, but he had to try. The girl looked exhausted and the boy's ice surely wouldn't hold out forever. What else could they do?
Raven once again had her "in-control" mask in place, thanks to Connor. If she hadn't been so frightened when Clay threw the knives at her she would have rolled her eyes. Not again she thought rather miserably as the blades came closer, that was until they were blocked from her view by Connor. She arched her eyebrow in surprise and then forced herself to look unperturbed.
<Nicely handled> she sent Connor smoothly, content that she was back in control of herself once again. Her smile widened as Connor formed an ice spear and drove it into Clays leg.
<Now that is even better> she sent approvingly as Connor indifferently informed Clay of the rules of combat. She stooped down and swiftly picked up Clay's fallen knives from the floor. They fitted nicely in her hands, even though she doubted they'd be much good if she threw them. Even so, I might just keep them to annoy him she thought slyly to herself. She was about to walk straight up to Clay and either finish him off or gloat a little first when a seriously irritating buzz entered her thoughts. It was directed from Landon, and Raven gave him an infuriated glance before finally opening her mind to his.
<What?> she asked harshly, before his thoughts tumbled into her own.
<'Raven! Raven! Please! Help me get this mask off! I can help us, just please! Raven!'>
The stupid message just repeated itself, and just annoyed Raven all the more.
<Will you just shut up?> she demanded tersely <I am not some sort of idiot. I can here your stupid sentence, I don't need you to repeat a thousand, and you are being seriously annoying.>
Even so she could not deny the usefulness of Landon's gift as a threat. Giving Landon a furious glare, she shoved him around to face the back. Using Clay's fancy knives she managed to slice the thick cords and watched as the metal mask dropped to the floor with a metallic ring. Steering Landon to face Clay, Raven glowered down at the Agent.
"If you dare try and stop us again, I will make Landon speak. I don't care if he kills me in the process, and so help me I will use him whether you or him for that matter like it or not."
Knowing the threat would be enough to keep the man still until they were out of sight and unable to use Landon, Raven grabbed the mask and the two boys hands and marched past Clay. Once they were behind him, she dropped the other two's hands, and grabbed the mask in both of them before bringing it down on Clay's head with all her strength. She was sure that would keep him out of it for a while, and so she re-took both of Connor and Landon's hands and continued to march down the corridor.
"You my friend" she said angrily to Landon "Had better learn I do not take lightly to people irritating me and continuously repeating the same bloody line straight into my head. It ticks me off. "
They continued a few paces more, before her anger lowered to a simmer.
"The idea however worked" she said finally, though the venom was not quite gone from her voice.
<What? Will you just shut up? I am not some sort of idiot. I can hear your stupid sentence, I don't need you to repeat a thousand, and you are being seriously annoying.>
Raven had heard him after all - a little too much it seemed. Startled, Landon's eyes grew wide with concern as he watched Raven's face glower in irritation. He instantly felt foolish. And nervous. As if making her mad was a terrible, terrible mistake. Still, she knew exactly what to do as she whilrled the boy around and slit the mask off of his head. The heavy piece of metal hit the floor, the noise somehow rising above all the commotion and making Landon flinch - if but for a moment. With a slight gasp, he felt fresh air touch his face and enter his lungs. Simple pleasures, huh? The thought hit him quickly, and he stifled a quick grin at the idea. Then, he was being thrust in front of the intimidating agent.
"If you dare try and stop us again, I will make Landon speak. I don't care if he kills me in the process, and so help me I will use him whether you or him for that matter like it or not."
Jeez. This girl certainly knew how to deal with problems. There seemed to be so much anger inside of her. As if strong hatred coursed through her petite frame constantly, ebbing and flowing but always evident. It was sad, in a way. Up until now, worst he'd seen from girls was a catfight amongst high school cheerleaders. This Raven, Landon solemnly assumed, had probably been through more pain in a day here than any of those girls had ever felt in their entire life.
Landon stood awkwardly as Raven held onto him like some sort of weapon - which, he supposed, he was. Did the agent look scared? Landon couldn't be sure. He stared into the man's eyes and opened his mouth slightly, hoping it would deter the man further. There was a moment of silence and Landon watched as the agent appeared to waver. Then, the boy was being led out by Raven, who promptly used his mask to bludgeon the agent. His eyes wide and his mouth open, Landon was in awe as she grabbed his hand and dragged him away. Just who did he get himself caught up with here? The answer didn't come right away, so Landon took solace in knowing that, for now at least, she was on his side.
"You my friend, had better learn I do not take lightly to people irritating me and continuously repeating the same bloody line straight into my head. It ticks me off. "
Landon winced at her words. He looked down at the floor, stealing a pouting glance up at Raven after a moment.
<'...sorry.'> He thought sheepishly.
"The idea however worked"
A sly smile slowly made its way across Landon's face.
