Berkley Institute for the Criminally Insane

Berkley Institute for the Criminally Insane

You are Marcus Rembrandt, a reporter trying to get a scoop and a new patient realizing there's more wrong with yourself than you thought. When you find your big break while undergoing treatment, you team up to try and save yourself and your new friends.

562 readers have visited Berkley Institute for the Criminally Insane since Daleeria created it.

You wake up, completely unaware of where you are. There's even some confusion on who you are. A sharp pain in your left temple causes you to curl back into the fetal position you were in until it ebs away. You sit up, trying to reach up to rub your head only to realize you're wrapped in a straight jacket. What is this place? How did you come to be here? Why is it so dark in this room? All of that will be answered soon...

Berkley Institute for the Criminally insane has a long history of success with its rehabilitation programs. Every patient that has gone in there has come out of there a completely different person. No longer do they suffer from the mental capacities that caused them to commit their crimes; the pyromaniacs have no need to set fire on things anymore, the murderers and psychopaths can no longer remember why they liked killing, but in exchange they seem fake, almost soulless. Many of the patients are never even seen again.

Dr. Willem Berkley has been the subject of many discussions in the psychology world. None know his techniques and few know him at all. Out of the blue he started the institute 20 years ago, and now his level of success has garnered him unwanted attention and much suspicion.

You, as a journalist with a traumatic past, have been given the assignment of finding out just what the secret is to the treatments, and how it is that no one knows what happens within the fortress that they call an asylum.

A large building made of stone and mortar, with prison-like walls surrounding it. The main building looks a bit beat up but regal like the mansion it once was. Within the main building the offices, cafeteria, security room, and most of the main functions such as the power generator, water mains, etc, are housed on the lower two and basement floors. The upper three floors are patient rooms for lower-risk patients that are merely seeking treatment for minor mental instabilities.

Behind the large house is a much smaller house of three floors and a hidden basement. This is the high-security housing with a much larger security force and a policy of silence. The doctors that work here are housed in extra secure rooms to protect them in the case of patient breakouts. No one knows what is in the basement of this building, but often patients will claim to hear screams of their fellows who have disappeared.

In between the two houses is a large fenced in courtyard with electrical barbed wire fences separating the higher security patients from the lower security ones, and a gardening area for those who need a hobby.

Berkley Asylum for the Criminally Insane

Hi anyone that's reading this! This is the first RP I've started here in my short amount of time here. I have weird dreams so that's partially where this comes from. If you have any questions/comments, feel free to PM me.

Once we get enough slots filled to start RPing there will be a posting order generated. I usually post once or twice a day when able to. I work a full time job and am back in college so I do understand other people have lives, and while a posting order might make it inconvenient for some, for me it helps me be able to keep track of what's going on (another RP I'm in has none so some people might post two or three times before I even get off work and have time to reply).

Feel free to join in some OOC discussion and lets have some fun!!
