Everything I've been through.
Live your life, soaking up all my sunshine,
And smile your whole life,

18 wheels are crushing,
Me down,
Running me down
Cars are crashing
Cars are crashin, all around me
Running me down,

All my days are numbered,
All my days are grey,
All my skies are covered,
All my ends are frayed,

You couldn't be, you couldn't be me even if you wanted to,
Everything I've been through. You wouldn't know
Live your life, soaking up all my sunshine,
And smile your whole life,
I wouldn't know

Lightning's crashin'
Thunder's rolling all around me,
Bringin me down
Stars are falling,
Fires lighting all around me,
Burning me down

All my days are numbered,
All my days are grey,
All my skies are covered,
All my ends are frayed,

You couldn't be, you couldn't be me even if you wanted to,
Everything I've been through. You wouldn't know
Live your life, soaking up all my sunshine,
And smile your whole life,
I wouldn't know

Feels like I'm falling down,
Inside a fever rising,
Buried my life deep in the ground,
Left my existence lying, so lets go

You couldn't be, you couldn't be me even if you wanted to,
Everything I've been through.
Live your life, soaking up all my sunshine,
And smile your whole life,
I wouldn't know

The weather man said rain.
He wasn't wrong.

The sky is crying large raindrops, and the sounds of the water washing down the drains in the streets is ever prominent.

Despite the hard rain, it still remains around 60 degrees outside.

The forecast says the storm will last for the next three days, but one can only hope something different.

They'd been driving for far too long. They rose early in the morning only to pack up what little of their belongings they had, and hit the road. Alice insisted on driving. The black truck they had proved useful for these long hauls. All of their equipment in the back. The equipment consisting of guns, knives, hex bags, and everything in between.
The two girls weren't amateurs. They never traveled anywhere without the proper gear. If something was missing, Alice was quick to replace it. She didn't like be unprepared. In their line of work you had to be ready for anything.

Perhaps that was the reason Alice hadn't gotten much sleep the night before. The vampire they'd been tracking had given them the slip every single time they came near progress. The monster was smart, she'd give him that - but the girls needed to figure out how to outsmart it.

The truth behind the reason she didn't sleep, was that she never could. Sleeping wasn't pleasant. It wasn't something she sought after once a long day was through. Sleep only filled her mind with dreams of her past. Many enjoy their dreams, finding things they yearn for. No one remembers that dreams can be nightmares too.

Alice had been keeping herself awake with an overdose of coffee from every other gas station they passed on their way to the town within the newspaper. Each headline similar. "Bloodless Female Found In Apartment".

It was something out of scary campfire story. They'd seen the bodies. Sneaking to crime scenes after hours seemed to be their specialty. Visiting the morgue with fake credentials was also up there. Thankfully they were close to the town, in fact she saw it in her sights. They'd find some motel to put their things, and begin the hunt. With this monster they had no time to make themselves comfortable.

Looking over to the passenger's side she spoke.
"Have you found any open motels yet?" she asked Evie as they drove on in. Alice's phone was currently being used as a GPS, so she relied on Evie for the more technical parts.

With one hand she took a sip of her coffee while another was on the wheel. The green side ahead read "Maquoketa - Population 6,000". They were in the right place for sure. Entering the city she drove slower as she waited for the directions to a motel that would be safe enough for the two of them. Passing a small coffee shop, a few stores, and a restaurant she parked the car on the side of the road.

Alice took a large breath and placed her head against the head rest for a moment, looking around the area. It wasn't the smallest town, yet not the largest. She hoped they could just end this goose chase here.

The rain outside tapped against the windows of the small bistro he sat in. A text from his brother to meet was why he was here in the first place. Another reason was clear.

The hunters.

He'd been aware of them after his fourth killing went public. Hunter spent his entire existence only drinking from humans partially. An accident at a club one night sparked his inner blood lust. Drinking every last drop until a person was lifeless was something he couldn't describe. A different kind of high. In all his miserable undead years - this was as alive as he ever felt.

That's why he couldn't, and wouldn't stop.

Now for the first time he was being followed. Though the hunters weren't that hard for him to lose. While they were good, Hunter was great. He'd been doing this gig far longer than they had. A few times there were scares of hunters beginning to look for him, but it was easily avoidable. One even ended up being a meal of his.

A waitress came by his table. Pretty blonde girl, he guessed in her teens. He flashed her a charming smile before she asked, "Can I get you anything sir?". He made a look of thought before nodding.
"A coffee would do fine. Black" he answered and she only nodded before going on her way back to the counter. Controlling his blood lust even in a place like this was hard enough. Every human had a heartbeat, each one he could hear. Hunter only wanted to rip the throats out of everyone in the small cafe, allowing himself to binge in what he loved the most.

Though he couldn't do that before his brother got there. That'd only be rude. Ryder knew of his actions, and it was obvious he didn't approve either. Hunter couldn't care though. He loved his brother, but this was his afterlife. His plan of the day was to try to persuade him to join him in his slaughter.

Ryder didn't laugh as much as he once did. Hunter knew he'd be happy if he felt what it was like to drink a person to the last drop. Impatiently he waited, checking his phone every other second for a message from his brother. His coffee was brought to him in a timely manner, the blonde girl's number written on the napkin.

His time was limited, it wouldn't be long until the hunters would catch his trail once again, so waiting around only made him more angsty.

Evie held back a yawn as she forced herself to stay awake while Alice drove the truck. They had been chasing this killer vampire for a while now and every time they seemed to be close to the monster, he just had to escape from their clutches once more. The rain was soothing to her and although she knew it would rain as warned by the weather man, it seemed like storm wouldn't go away. While the girls traveled, Evie herself took quick almost unnoticeable glances towards her partner and best friend Alice with concern etching her face for only a few moments. She knew that the girl hadn't slept much and it wasn't a surprise anymore either, although Evie pretended to ignore this fact mostly for the sake of Alice, she herself couldn't push away the worried thoughts floating mindlessly around her head. Coffee can do a lot to keep someone awake but it surely wasn't the answer to everything and once Alice came down from the caffeinated high, she'd once again feel the tiredness overwhelm her...or that was what Evie thought anyway.

While the long drives weren't as bad as they first sounded, Evie couldn't remember the last time she drove the two. Smiling to herself she watched the surroundings pass her by with the thought of that last memory. It was an accident, a total accident and to be fair Evie hadn't drove anyway but in South Korea where the driving rules were hardly followed and anything went from speeding to following anything but legal methods to getting to places. So when she was all of a sudden introduced to this new American culture of driving, it was hardly a surprise that the poor girl didn't understand. Alice nearly had a heart attack when the truck almost collided with a tree while they were hunting a rouge werewolf. It was that day onward Evie never got into the driver's seat and even though it was funny memory, she respected Alice's decision to drive.

It was Alice's voice that pulled her into reality and away from the past memories she was fondly reminiscing over. With a smile she nodded, her sunglasses which were perched on her head falling ever so slightly while she did. "Yup, I found a few but honestly I think the Magpie Inn sounds the best...plus apparently the owner makes a mean strawberry tart!" Evie made an okay sign towards her friend and proceeded to give her the directions to the place.

With the truck now parked, Evie finally let out the yawn she had kept in and with a sigh looked around the area. How she wished this case would be over so finally they could take a break by the beach hopefully. She rubbed her thumb tattoo absentmindedly and looked over at Alice. "You ready?"

Ryder wasn't looking forward to his meeting with his older brother Hunter. He had stayed away from that part of his life for a while now and even ignored the killings with the hope that it would end quickly. However that didn't seem like it would be happening any time soon much to his misery. The brother he used to look up to as his role model has turned into this hunter craving for human blood. Well of course it was necessary for vampires to drink blood, no greatly important for them to do so; but killing humans by draining them of all their blood wasn't vital. It was just plain old murder, and the intent of it was far to real for Ryder's liking.

The drive to the bistro wouldn't take much longer and if he had really wanted to it would have taken far less time than it did. Ryder longed out his journey mostly due to nerves but also because he had really been dreading this visit. The Hunter he knew was long gone and to get him out of the mess he created would be difficult to even begin to imagine. He wondered if his brother had already chosen his next victim, if that victim would fall for his charms not knowing the danger she would be in.
He heaved a sigh as he parked the car a few blocks away from the bistro, thinking the walk there would do him some good. The weather seemed to match his mood, the pathetic fallacy was all too real in this situation for him to make a joke out of it. As Ryder tapped the wheel mindlessly, he checked his surroundings and was surprised to see that there was more people around than he'd thought. Let's get this over and done with then he thought to himself and with much reluctance he stepped outside of his car and made his way towards the bistro.

With his head low and the never ending rain droplets falling onto his head, he wondered whether he had made the right decision of seeing Hunter and maybe it was a better idea to have grabbed an umbrella from the trunk of his car. Without even realizing he had already made his way towards the entrance of the small bistro and with a sigh pushed the door open and walked in, spotting his brother almost immediately with the blonde waitress. It was rather awkward for him to wave hello at this point and turning back wasn't exactly the best option either, so Ryder walked over to Hunter and took a seat, mumbling to the blonde girl for a coffee.

The one thing Alice could always depend on from Evie, was her optimistic nature. She was a girl that went on no matter what. She admired that about her, and did wish she could even be like that. Not to her friends extent, but at least happy.

Alice didn't know how truly happy Evie was underneath it all though.

Happiness was subjective. No one in the hunter business could be that happy. when they felt alone, they could count on a hunter somewhere feeling the same way. Hunters were forged out of despair and misery - at least in Alice's mind. It was clear that she was no happy camper.

"Yup, I found a few but honestly I think the Magpie Inn sounds the best...plus apparently the owner makes a mean strawberry tart!" her friend exclaimed before giving her directions that she followed wordlessly. When they arrived, it wasn't anything special. Their budget for such things wasn't the largest. Their income was something that varied.

You couldn't exactly get paid for work that the world didn't know existed. There were a few times where they were somehow contacted and contracted to deal with a problem, or legitimate demon exorcisms they were able to get paid from. Alice and Evie didn't have a lot of room for the luxuries of life. Alice could only hope some large paycheck was waiting for them somewhere.

"You ready?" Evie asked while looking at Alice. The girl nodded. "As I'll ever be" she replied with a dry tone before parking the car. She looked around the truck and part of the full back for something to protect them from the rain, but found nothing. Alice went with putting her hoodie up before opening the car door to the weather, raindrops falling onto her immediately.
"I'll get us rooms" she yelled towards Evie as she walked towards the main building to pay for at least two days at the motel. She didn't know how long they'd be in town, only that they didn't have long.

When she went inside it was a simple desk and a brochure stand in the lobby. To the side a small dining room with a breakfast buffet it looked like. That'd be nice for the morning. If they even got to stay that long.

Alice didn't take long to talk to the host at the desk. Every smile given to her was met with a straight face, which only made the girl seemingly work faster to get Alice out of the place. Motel room 7.

Walking back out into the rain Alice waved at the truck for Evie as she took cover under the large shades that covered the motel doors. 7 wasn't far at all, and when she clicked the key in the door, it was only second nature for her to pull out a gun loaded with rock salt in case of any unexpected surprises. The place they got had two beds and a pullout futon. It was nothing fancy, but to Evie's misfortune the bedrooms weren't separated, which meant Alice would be making sounds in her sleep.

She nodded a clear and ran out to grab some of their things, hoping Evie would grab the rest. Certain preparations needed to be made before they could consider the motel safe, like demon proofing the door.

Hunter chatted away with the blonde woman. She was pretty enough. Ordinary looking as many women from this part were. Typical blonde hair, blue eyes, average build. He'd decided that she would be his lucky guest tonight. He had all he needed, her number. So when she came back over to talk to him he played along. A charming smile was given to her, and the girl was putty in his hands.

He couldn't ever tell if the reason picking up women was so easy was because he was a vampire, or because he was attractive. Hunter knew all well of what his strengths were. He flaunted them like a peacock showing off their feathers.

Immediately he felt his brother's presence when he walked through the door. Maybe it was the awkward tension his brother brought with him. It was no secret that the two brothers hadn't been close in a long while. They were more like estranged siblings now then brothers. The two had always been different, but their differences normally were able to balance in one another's presence. Now they were polar opposites.

Hunter listened as his brother stopped the conversation with his pretty blonde friend, ordering a coffee. She shuffled off, and Hunter only looked at his blonde brother.
"Is that how you greet your only brother?" he joked with a half smile, leaning forward on the table, resting on his elbows. "How've you been doing little bro? Been behaving?" his joke continued. While the joke would probably be the gateway of a less light subject, Hunter knew that the conversation wasn't going to be fun.

The man would never admit, but he did miss his brother to an extent. Living forever, was a bore. Especially living lonely. Having his brother he could at least avoid that part, but he had found his new addiction to also fill the void.

Blonde girl came back with Ryder's drink and he thanked her with a wink, cringing at the smell of black coffee.
"You do know that shit will stunt your growth. It's no wonder you're still a midget" Hunter grinned. Only being an inch taller, he didn't care. He enjoyed poking the bear so to speak.

Evie gave her friend a thumbs up and stayed in the truck until Alice found themselves a room. Releasing yet another yawn she looked around and wondered if she should buy herself another cup of coffee at this rate. "I wonder if Alice wouldn't mind grabbing something to eat first" she mumbled to herself just as her stomach grumbled for food.

Evie rubbed her silver locket out of boredom but while biting her lower lip, she proceeded to open the locket and stared at the picture. It was at times like these that she didn't show any of her emotions, or rather didn't have that smile on her face like she usually does. Times where she was alone where her thoughts went back to one place, her family. The picture was of an average happy family where the parents couldn't contain their happiness and the children were making a fuss out of the matching clothes. Ryou stood beside their father with his signature annoyed look, his eyes staring right into her soul. Yura who stood next her had blinked at the wrong time but looked pretty all the same. The youngest Taeyung who stood on the other side of her held onto her hand the tightest and with his awkward smile made Evie's heart hurt. And of course Evie stood in the middle of the two, with her dress looking strangely too big on her and even though the family picture looked like a mess, she stood there laughing with her disorganized family.

For only a few moments did she look at this picture before shutting it and looking back outside for signs of Alice's return. When she did she her, Evie quickly exited the truck and grabbed the remaining things, making sure that there wasn't anyone watching them. A hunter's career can make them a symbol of paranoia but in this case it was a useful trait to have, after all you can never be too careful.

Evie followed shortly behind Alice into their humble room and wasn't surprised to see nothing out of the ordinary as far as motel rooms go. As she settled their belongings and equipment down, Evie opened up what she called their safety bag to start the preparations.

"Hey do you want me to draw the devil's trap rather than the circle of salt?" she whispered as the door to their motel room was still slightly open. The devil's trap was much more powerful than the average circle of salt and although the girls used the salt frequently, Evie thought that using something stronger sometimes wouldn't hurt. Even though the girls had concluded that the monster was most likely a vampire due to the fact that the victims were always drained of their blood and other findings from the scene, they always had to make sure they were safe from other supernatural's as well regardless.

Evie's stomach grumbled once more, although this time more loudly and with a quiet laugh shrugged it off. She walked over to one of the beds, the one that was the closest to the door and began to open some of the bags. Inside her smallest bag contained a gun, specifically the Colt which was said to be able to kill any supernatural if they had the specific bullets for it anyway. Tilting her head, she picked it up and settled it onto the bed; grabbing the cleaning kit she too put that on the bed and began to set up. Cleaning the equipment, more so the guns had always been one of her favourite things to do, and the Colt was truly her favourite gun.

Evie picked it up and unloaded the gun, her fingers rubbing the lettering on the gun. She opened the chamber and looked through the barrel from the back to front, making sure that no rounds remained inside. She then continued on with her routinely gun cleaning, making sure it was well cleaned out by using a cleaning rod and patches. Because she had done this so often, it took her less time to finish than it did the first time she had to do it. It used to be such a chore for her at the beginning but now it seemed like it gave her a calming effect.

Ryder watched as the blonde waitress walked away with his order, it seemed like she was quite annoyed by his sudden intrusion into the conversation, but he rather she being annoyed than dead.

"Is that how you greet your only brother?" Hunter joked, which only continued on, "How've you been doing little bro? Been behaving?"

Ryder sighed gently at his brother's attempt and maybe if this wasn't a meeting about Hunter's killings, he would have probably laughed along like the good old days. "I've been doing well thanks for asking, but we both know that the reason I'm here today isn't about me." he replied monotonously.

It wasn't long until the blonde waitress came back again with his black coffee and as much as he wanted to tell her that she'd probably not live long enough to work another day because of his killer brother, that wasn't an option he wanted to seek out...not yet anyway. He gave her a halfhearted thank you and watched as she left to attend another customer, leaving the two brothers alone again.

Ryder took a sip of the hot liquid, welcoming the burning sensation in his mouth. He rolled his eyes at Hunter's yet again sorry excuse for a joke and took another sip, as if to ignore his brother's comment. "Yeah well it's not like that extra inch makes much of a difference anyway Hunter."

He must admit his brother seemed well, and all that human blood was doing him well which didn't come to much of a surprise to him. Ryder wondered whether he should just get on with it and speak about Hunter's problematic killers or wait until Hunter was done with his ice breakers. Either way the conversation was going to happen.

"So it's her today is it?" he nodded his head towards the blondie, "I'm sure she tastes absolutely horrible though but you wouldn't care huh bro?" Ryder finished of his black coffee in a matter of a few more sips and settled the cup down, half wanting another one just to keep him alert.

Alice checked the bathroom, already the salt was being lined under each of the doors. Perhaps that was being too cautious, but Alice and Evie could never be too careful. Especially when they were hunting. A demon could hide in one of those rooms, get in through a vent. It was better if there was no chance of that happening.

The windows she lined with salt as well, and she heard the grumbling of her friend's stomach. She had to admit she was hungry as well, as they had traveled all day to get to where they were. While they didn't do much yet that day, they'd need to pack the calories for later. Running around all day like small children, except with much more purpose.

"Hey do you want me to draw the devil's trap rather than the circle of salt?" Evie whispered. Alice barely heard her, but gave a reply.
"Probably a good idea" she responded. Alice opened up the cargo bag that she had in the truck, setting it on her bed, the only closest to the wall. Inside she had things ranging from hex bags, salt, guns, and knives. Alice seemingly over packed such things. It was only out of caution. When there was only two of them, they couldn't afford risk.

Alice suited her belt. Inside the rim of her pants she put a knife etched with runes to harm demons. A gun in her pants as well. On her leg she had another knife holstered just for protection.
"We can get food at that coffee shop on the way in" she said as she walked into the bathroom. She zipped down her hoodie, looking at the new tattoo she had gotten in the town back. Perhaps she was silly to even get it tattooed on herself, but she was just that paranoid to ever become one of those.

Around the tattoo it was still red. It still worked though. She looked to Evie from the bathroom mirror.
"According to our last trip, we have 3 days until they move once again. We don't have time to wait. After we eat, we need to get going" she told her knowingly. She wanted to stop these killings. They only made her hate herself more. Those people she couldn't protect. It wasn't like they could just tell them a vampire was in the city. She'd get herself put in an asylum if she did that.

"My first idea you may not like. It involves you dressing...well, under dressing. And clubbing. Every girl has been found at a club or local hot spot. If he can lure you, we have him" she told her as she leaned against the side of the door, jingling the keys.

"I've been doing well thanks for asking, but we both know that the reason I'm here today isn't about me." his brother said, and he only rolled his eyes before grinning.
"You sound like Dr.Phil brother. Don't worry, your big brother has it all under control and panned out" he said with humor lacing his words. He didn't take such confrontation seriously. Hunter was not threatened by his brother in the slightest, and his brother's demeanor wouldn't change.

Ryder wouldn't do anything to stop him. He'd only continue in his worrying and cowering. At his brother's comeback he snorted. His brother was the same as always. He hadn't changed a bit. Ryder couldn't tell whether that was a good or a bad thing. While he loved his brother, he'd always had been someone to over shadow him. His brother was a follower unlike him. He carved his own path.

"So it's her today is it?" Ryder nodded his head towards the blondie, "I'm sure she tastes absolutely horrible though but you wouldn't care huh bro?" his brother continued. Hunter let out a scoff.
"Now that you've ruined it, I can't have her. I'm sure you taste terrible as well, so I'd shut up" he spoke, looking to the blonde girl before looking back at his brother. Maybe he'd kill two, just to spite his younger brother.

"It'll be whoever I please. But we both know I wouldn't have some virgin high schooler. You need to have a bit of fun first. You should join me. It's been too long since we've hung out together" Hunter spoke, narrowing his eyes.

"You shouldn't poke your head in my business Ryder. It won't end well. If you aren't going to join me, you need to stay out of my way" he spoke seriously, breaking the smug persona.

With Alice's reply Evie started to drew the devils trap right inside the door. Because this was something she did quite a few times, it was finished within a matter of minutes with perfect accuracy in design. Once she was done with that, Evie quickly scanned the room and mumbled inaudibly to herself about the positioning of everything; while she did so, she walked back to her bed where the Colt lay all freshly cleaned and with a small smile tucked the gun into the waistband of her jeans. Evie made sure that the knife she had carried along with her within her left sock was still there by slightly moving her ankle which she did subconsciously from time to time.

With a large smile she winked over at her friend, her prayers for food was answered! "That actually sounds great Alice, hopefully they sell those cheese toasties I'm craving for." Evie's happy mood could not be broken at this rate, the thought of food had always made her happy. Well that's what she thought anyway.

"According to our last trip, we have 3 days until they move once again. We don't have time to wait. After we eat, we need to get going"

It was true, this time the case seemed to be taking longer than usual and each time more people were dying. Evie's smile faltered a little while thinking about the victims poor family. She nodded along with Alice and with a somewhat forced smile she spoke, "Don't worry, we will get that monster this time! And anyway we can always grab something to munch on while we're moving."

Evie was almost pleased with the way the plan was going and was ready to get going. But no, Alice had to break the perfect plan by making her play dress up, or in other words play the bait...which she did way too often. "My first idea you may not like. It involves you dressing...well, under dressing. And clubbing. Every girl has been found at a club or local hot spot. If he can lure you, we have him."

Evie groaned loudly, not being able to contain her sheer laziness at the thought of having to dress up - no dress down and go...clubbing. "Aliceeeeeeee, she whined, unleashing her puppy dog eyes at her friend

"I highly doubt he'd want me, I mean I'm not nearly as attractive as let's say, you are," she pouted. However even though she did all this, it was clear as day that Evie would end up giving in for the sake of catching him and if that took her wearing little clothes and surround herself in a group of loud drunk people, then she would.

While Alice jingled the keys, Evie let out a sigh and walked outside, muttering a 'fine' under her breath. "You better be buying me some good food Alice."

Ryder sighed at his brother's reply, which yet again had a hint of humour. He wasn't surprised that this meeting didn't go as well as he wanted to. The boy didn't imagine his brother confessing to his murders and promising never to do it again but he did expect maybe Hunter comprising or at least take his opinion into account. Both which seemed highly impossible.

"Now that you've ruined it, I can't have her. I'm sure you taste terrible as well, so I'd shut up" Hunter replied and with a quiet laugh Ryder nodded along. Of course his blood wouldn't taste great either, considering there was quite a large different between the two species blood.

Ryder looked over at the blonde and felt a small pang of relief at the thought of her not dying by his brother's hand, well hopefully. As he cracked his knuckles he felt his brother's seriousness and the conversation yet again became tense. For a while it was going okay, mostly because of Hunter's jokes which Ryder didn't want to admit lightened the conversation up, even if it was a little bit.

When Hunter first started his whole killing spree Ryder by no means cared about it, in all honesty he rather ignored it and went on with his own life. A small part of him even wanted to join his big brother although more out of acceptance and the bond that may have brought them together with the act of killing. However when witnessing one of the victims go through what they did and Hunter not even caring about their poor body being slowly drained of life, it seemed that the whole thing wasn't something Ryder could talk himself into.

With a resolved look on his face Ryder raised his hands, as if to admit defeat and said "Okay I'll see how you do this whole thing, I mean it's true we haven't hung out in a while much less hunt together." He shrugged, "I can't exactly judge something I don't know too much anyway...
