He looks scarier than he actually is. He appears older than his years due to the cold weather and hard labor. He has accumulated quite a few scars over time. Some of the most noticeable are those on his hands and a fading burn scar across his left eyebrow. His cheeks are often rosy from the heat, but he gets warm very easily. Additionally, he has pseudo-freckles on dotting his cheeks from where flecks of embers have embedded in his skin.

He is a very hardworking man who finds himself in bad situations. He is not a man who quickly runs away from his problems. However, he knows when to pick his battles. When faced with both the forces of Stormcloaks and Imperials, he chose to run. In this way, he is practical and wishes to make the most of the time he has left. Life in Skyrim is relentless — a fact he has already learned very well.

Bryik was born in Dawnstar although his father was in competition with other blacksmiths in the area. His mother was a smithhand, aiding her husband in his business as well as raising Bryik. They moved away from the city when he was just beginning to walk and out of the Pale to a much more foreign place — the Reach. They joined a small settlement with mines and a few farms nearby. They flourished as blacksmiths — relatively speaking. He was not an only child, however. His younger brother Jolrik was born not long after they moved away from Dawnstar and his younger sister Risra came only two years later.
They lived a simple life and Bryik picked up the family trade quickly. His parents knew that he was going to grow up to be very strong from the start — he put on weight fast and built muscle quickly as he entered his teenage years. His father relied on him to lug raw ore for him and run deliveries from time to time with Jolrik and Risra. While Jolrik got a taste for city life, Bryik began to learn he was more fond of a quieter setting. His sister was ever the imaginative one and found herself carving decorative markings into the finished weaponry. She and her eldest brother made a good pair in creating polished weaponry and armor with detailed engravings favored by decorated warriors. Since they were teenagers, Bryik fancied a girl who worked on one of the local farm and pined after her from afar. So, once Bryik grew up — he never left. His brother moved to Solitude and rarely visited home much. Risra remained behind as well to continue working.
The remaining White-Heart siblings inherited the family business once their parents passed away years later. His sister had gotten skilled with jewelry and became the primary seller for their wares. They worked together for a few more years without issue. While they were friendly with each other, Bryik was not enough company for her in the small settlement where they resided. As she traveled to the larger settlements and cities to sell, she became more like Jolrik. She did not necessarily need her brother's blessing, but she asked for his approval after she found a man in a nearby city who wished to marry her. Bryik hardly wanted to see his sister grow old and lonely. Reluctantly, he left her go. Unfortunately, this left him to run a forge all by himself. Before she left, Risra encouraged him to seek out the girl he was interested in. That way, he wouldn't be alone and he could get help with the business.
Over time, he began to feel the weight of being alone. Bryik began to heavily consider his sister's advice, but never mustered up the courage to talk to the girl very often. He had seen the way another one of the farmhands spoke with her and his faith that she would be interested dwindled. It became too much of a hassle to forge weapons and armor as well as deliver it to nearby cities to sell. He tried to keep up his business, but things began to fall through the cracks. Thus, he started to consider moving to a city himself. That is, until his work caught attention and he was approached by buyers willing to purchase his wares straight from the settlement without delivery. He finally thought his luck had turned around.
He begun making a good amount of coin from these buyers and never asked questions about where his handiwork was being sent. Neither buyer came at the same time and returned like clockwork to pick up their share of weaponry and armor without ever witnessing the other. Things were going well, but did not last. As schedules changed, his buyers were asking for wares quicker than he could produce them and he was forced to inform them he would need more time. Unbeknownst to Bryik, both of his buyers came from either side of the war effort sweeping across Skyrim. He was caught in the middle and accused of being a traitor by both sides. Rather than be captured and tried, he chose to attempt escaping Skyrim entirely.
