During the primitive beginnings of ancient Greek culture, an intelligent group known as the Minoans were tragically destroyed from a volcanic eruption that occured on their beautiful island of Santorini. Producing an explosion far more powerful than the infamous discharge of Mount Vesuvius on Pompeii, Thera, the volcano, swiftly swallowed the entire island into the murky, uncharted depths of the Aegean Sea. (The unlucky inhabitants along with it.)
Thus Atlantis, the beautiful city and safe-haven for all things advanced and supernatural, was thought to have been enveloped by Thera's burning lava. Although it was a tale told throughout many centuries, the legend of Atlantis was believed to be a myth...at least until German submarines discovered a well-preserved underwater metropolis halfway through the first World War.
The Atlantians, miraculously still alive and thriving in their godforsaken city, greeted the Germans with delight, and although the Triple Alliance was crushed during the Great War, the soldiers had a secret underwater base to call their home. Eventually, as the humans from the surface became accustomed to the foreign culture and traditions of the ancient Minoans, the sea-dwelling city did become the soldiers' home. Surface culture intertwined with endangered Greek culture, producing a modern Atlantis large and technological enough to keep millions of people alive and safe from the second World War.
And so, many of the world's greatest scientists, artists, and intellectuals were called to migrate to this "secret paradise under the sea", where they further transformed oxygen-producing shelters into Rockefeller-like skyscrapers, and empty rooms into casinos, coffee shops, clubs, hotels, luxurious apartments, and other places filled with such grandeur, that they were sure to rival the splendor of the Roaring 20's.
And so, Atlantis still stands today - still filled with elegant establishments with bits of ancient Greek culture sparsely scattered here and there. (As evidenced by deity-named streets and natural temples that worship the Olympian pantheon.) Tubes and submarines connect the buildings together, however, they do nothing to keep the diversity of residents as one. In these treacherous times of betrayal and revolution, Atlantis's melting pot has now become something of a salad bowl - still mixed together, but every element clearly separate and segregated...
And those elements are known as Orphics and Alterists.
The insurgent utopia of Atlantis isn't just known for its pretty architecture and undersea lights - it is known for its magic, particularly in the form of individual superpowers possessed by its people. The Orphics, otherwise known as the citizens of Atlantis who possess the ancient blood of the original Minoans, have always attained a very natural sort of magic, fueled by the spiritual power of their souls and aura.
Unfortunately, when the Germans first came to Atlantis, the inhabitants were unable to give them the magical powers they possessed, no matter how hard they tried to convince the gods that the land-dwellers were equally worthy of their supernatural abilities. However, as years passed, discoveries in science were made, and humans from the surface world were able to gain superpowers through surgery and injections. This new breed of Atlantians called themselves Alterists, as they had altered their genes, allowing their bodies to be enhanced without the use of rituals or spiritual trials like the Orphics.
And for a while, both Orphics and Alterists coincided with each other in the great big city of Atlantis...until Miracle Pills were invented just a few years ago, changing everything.
Before Miracle Pills, both Orphics and Alterists faced a problem. They could only use their powers in short bursts, as the law-defying abilities needed a cooldown period to recharge, or else the humans in control of the powers were sure to collapse...and in worse cases, die...but with the pills made specifically for the DNA of the Alterists, now people injected with powers could use their abilities unlimitedly in 24 hour periods, not having to worry about the drawbacks of recharging or fainting. So now, with Miracle Pills becoming the norm in Alterist households, it seems as though the genetically-enhanced group can use their powers without limit with the help of one pill, while the natural Orphics, unable to take the tiny pills, are left in the dust, only able to use their powers sparingly.
But of course, Miracle Pills came with a plethora of unexpected costs. First off, the pills wipe away the natural capabilities of Alterist powers. (Meaning if an Alterist takes a pill, they will only have their powers for a maximum of 24 hours until the next pill is taken.) Secondly, scientists weren't expecting the capsules to be so addicting on some users. Studies have shown that 25% of people who take Miracle Pills become addicted to the drug, consequently causing hostile insanity, and eventually death. And thirdly, (and perhaps most importantly,) the pills are created by a plant called "Miracle Weed". Not only is Miracle Weed used for Orphic ceremonies, but it is also used to produce natural medicine. And with the smuggling of this plant by Alterists, sick Orphics are unable to get the care they need to survive.
And so, a war has started. In retaliation and anger, radical Orphics have recently murdered the Atlantian leader - an Alterist, of course. Consequently, the goverment has enforced that many facilities be segregated so that Orphics and Alterists do not cross paths, producing more bloodshed in the already dangerous metropolis. But of course, separation does not always lead to peace...
Especially when superpowers are involved.
Because of recent events, many of the shops and places available to all citizens of Atlantis have been segregated in order to promote peace. So for example, if an Orphic wanders into an Alterist establishment or vice versa, they will be forced out by law. Some places, due to their business and profit, have managed to remain open to both Orphics and Alterists. However, those places are sparse...

{ One of the only places in Atlantis where vegetation and weeping willows can be found growing from the ground, the Sanctuary is a holy garden where Orphics gather to participate in spiritual ceremonies, usually worshiping the Greek deities and thanking them for their blessings they have bestowed upon the people. Besides the many marble statues that seem to magically move and talk every so often, the real sight to behold in the Sanctuary is the beautiful blue waterfall and stream, where, in the past, many Alterists have been baptized to become Orphics themselves. Aaria Devoroh
Aaria was lost in her thoughts; she tapped her fingers on the bar her mind wandering from one subject to the next. She didn’t have a reason to celebrate the day, but she didn’t really have a reason to dislike it. She sighed and shook her head trying to shake away the gloomy thoughts. A voice brought her attention to her left as a girl sat next to her.
"Hey... I know you…You own the Gallery right? I love going in there." Aaria turned to the girl with a smile. The girl extended her hand to her, and Aaria gave it a firm shake.
"I'm Alexis. You probably know my parents the Horns." The girl said still smiling. Aaria examined her closely for a moment. She was a very pretty, petite girl, with a smile that made Aaria smile instinctively.
“Ah yes, the Horns, lovely couple, very kind” Aaria said with a grin. They had always been very generous to the gallery, donating ar supplies and money to the ‘young artist’ fund, a program she ran for the younger generation. She even had a small room in the gallery dedicated to the students artwork.
“My name is Aaria Devoroh, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Happy Cajoinment day. Can I by you a drink?” She asked Alexis as she tried to wave down the barkeep.
“Aye.” Owen nodded grabbing some of the bottles and placing them in their designated spots. Now this was something he liked doing, it was busy work and the one thing he liked to stay was busy. A ludicrous idea to many but it was always the way with him with almost everything he does.
Drifting into a rhythm Owen started spacing out as he repeated going through the same process of picking and placing almost didn't hear Pat about the new customer that had just walked in. With a confirmation mumbled he placed a bottle he had just taken from the crate onto the shelf. Turning he rolled up his sleeves and leaned on the bar waiting for the two women passed pleasantries. “Introductions yeah? I'm Owen," He smirked. "What can I get getcha? Or yous if ya stayin'.” He looked over to Pat and Alexis.
Aldric pulled her into a hug. Clearly grateful for the visit and the food. Ian was clearly just trying to get pizza. And she could have stopped him if he wasn't using her favorite brother as a shield. Glaring at him playfully, she grabbed a slice of pizza herself. It was rather boring in the station. If she was away any longer they might have died from it. She rolled her eyes at Ian's comment. "You are a liar. But you're welcome." she said finished the pizza in her hand.
They three musketeers continued to eat in silence. Or really Kyrie didn't say anything and she watched Aldric and Ian argue over some of the pizza. They of course left her two slices while they cut one in half. They were so cute when they didn't speak to each other. If Kyrie didn't know any better, she would have thought they were related. Kyrie at the final two slices, satisfied to get her meal in of the day. Knowing Kyrie she won't eat again she till later tonight or early the next morning. Having three meals a day wasn't a specialty of Kyries.
"Hey, so, Ian and I were actually thinking about heading down to the bar for a quick drink before they close. Shift's over in five, wanna come?" Kyrie shrugged. She never really when down the bar. It was either to visit someone or make sure that her two closet friends weren't completely drunk. "Ugh, please. I could definitely go for a good whiskey after today. I hate working on holidays, there's never any action." And that is exactly why she checks up on them. Mostly because of Ian.
"Come on, Ky, you look like you could use a drink too." His cheeky grin made her smile. "You know for a fact that I don't drink." She said crossing her legs, right over left. "But if guys pay for all the sweet tea I plan to drink then count me in." she said rather excitedly. She just loved hanging out with them. Made her forget about her stupid abilities and how awful it was to know about people that would be dead within a month. And although she doesn't drink her problems away, she might as well. Kyrie looked at the clock. "And I mean it about the sweet tea. No spiking it Ian."
Forgetting how to act like a cordial gentleman, Patrick allowed Alexis to go on being a saint while he still hadn't said thank you. Somehow managing to keep the situation light, Alexis had already introduced herself to the woman at the bar. She was unreal, he wasn't sure if she was just pretending to not care he hadn't gotten her a gift or if she was genuinely that laid back of a woman - which again would be unreal.
He thought back to that night they first met, her coming in as he was closing the bar with the other girls from her job, she shone like star. She danced, and it seemed like it was all for him. Things had been so easy, and she hadn't indicated wanted to make matters different - so what was scaring him so much?
Sighing, he looked up to see Iris peaking back in. He chuckled under his breath, waving her in. Grabbing a handful of shot glasses, he lined them up along the bar, coming up behind Alexis to pin her against the bar pulling her close and giving her a big kiss on her cheek. "Thank you love, no man could ask for a better present." Raising his bottle to Iris as she re-entered the bar and the others, "Shots on the house!" He cheered.

Orphics were never taken seriously, painted as frail dolls with only their natural magical abilities having kept their society apart. She sighed, lighting yet another cigarette. Besides the fact that Iris had never gotten along with most people, especially pretty girls, she had just felt pushed on the fringe of all the lives around her. Holidays such as conjoinment day reminded her of such feelings, the impending doom of running into her family at the ball looming over her.
She looked back into the bar, locking eyes at Pat who gave an amused grin and beckoned her back in. Contemplating on facing her family or going in for another drink, the answer seemed obvious. She opened the door, glancing down the street to see none other than the Sheriff and the Deputy along with another woman Iris couldn't place a name to, although her face seemed familiar. Assuming they were headed into the pub, she waved, knowing she had made the right decision to stay as Pat called out shots.
Alexis smiled back at the girl as she recognized her parents. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well. Uh, actually my boyfriend owns the pub so let me buy you one." She said laughing softly. She smiled as Owen came over. She had become pretty good friends with Owen since she was typically here before closing. It made sense that they talked a lot.
"Hey, Owen. I would like-" She broke off when Patrick came up behind her. She giggled as he pinned her to the bar and kissed her cheek. She turned to look at him, grinning. "You're welcome. I'm glad you like it." She said to him.
After all this time, how did he still give her butterflies? If things were ever to get serious between them, it wouldn't be because she pressured him. She truly cared for him and wouldn't force him into anything he didn't want. She also knew he wasn't used to a serious type relationship. She was happy just to plan it by ear. "Yeah! Shots on the house! Isn't my boyfriend the greatest?"
Alexis giggled, leaning over and giving him an affection peck on the cheek. She sat back down at the bar. She smiled at Aaria. "That's Patrick. Do you know anyone else here? I can introduce you around." She offered. She smiled at Iris, hoping to lighten things up between them. She wouldn't mind having a few friends that were girls. Collectibles
By creating Collectibles, you can reward your players with unique items that accentuate their character sheets.
Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.
Mobs
Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!
Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!

You can schedule events for your players to create notifications and schedule times for everyone to plan around.
The Forge
Use your INK to craft new artifacts in Beyond The Sea. Once created, Items cannot be changed, but they can be bought and sold in the marketplace.

Has anyone else been having problems getting onto this website? Every time I've tried to get on this week, my screen's froze! X'( It's not been fun. Not at all.
@sparrowluvr2 Most of them, but not all of them. If you have a character that owns a business, it's up to you whether or not you want them to keep their business open.
