Full Name: Roisín O’Connor
How the hell is that pronounced? Row-sheen
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Birthday and Birthstone: July 20th - Ruby
Origin: Born and raised in the west of Ireland. Roisín is from a Gealtacht in Galway where Gaeilge (Irish) is the main tongue spoken.
The Tight-knit Family: Roisín is the middle child of 5 siblings, She has 3 brothers, 2 older and 1 younger and 1 sister who is the youngest in the family. She lived with her father and mother who are both quiet and passionate people having grown up with a love of their land and their language which they tried their utmost to pass onto their children. And with her grandfather who live his last years in the family home before passing when Roisín was 19. Roisín’s favourite memories of her childhood include sitting by with all her siblings with a roaring fire and cup of hot chocolate in their hands in the autumn while their mother told them stories of great Irish queens, of famous warriors and the land of the fairy folk while her father and grandfather played from various instruments to add to the flare in which the tales were told. It was her love of these nights that drove Roisín to her career in languages and storytelling. While travelling she talks at least one member of her family once a day as she can get quite homesick.
The Storyteller: Roisín was born with that charismatic flair, she has the ability to sweep many people up with her wild tales whether they be fictional or a wildly exaggerated truth. She travels the world teaching the Gaelige language and putting on performances of Irish fairytales but never tends to stay. As quickly as she appeared she is gone off to fascinate new people with her charm never really letting people get to know her. She is in New York to teach expression in storytelling for a semester and arrived early so she could get to know the country first. It is her first time in the U.S.
Basic Appearance: Roisín has pale milky skin that is dotted with varying degrees of brown freckles around her entire body. She has long auburn hair with bits of celtic red running through a natural curl. Light green eyes that are almost a little too close together. You’ll notice she is tall for a woman at 5ft 9inches and has an average build, with strong legs from running and a round tummy from not enough running. She sports calluses on her hands both on the palms for years of helping out on the farm and on the side of her right middle finger where a pens from all her writing has pushed against her skin. Roisín dislikes wearing make up, mostly due to the time it takes to do so you’ll often see dark circles under her eyes if she’s been out all night-which is often- and bright red cheeks if embarrassed, angry or drinking.
Notable features: Her height, 5ft 9. In the summer her freckles show up with great intensity. Her hair is often plaited in one solid braid down her back and can look closer to red in the sunlight and brown in the shade. It’s rare not to see smudges or flecks of ink somewhere on her clothing or on her skin. She has a large scar on her back left shoulder from a fall while climbing when she was 17 resulting in torn muscles and a fractured shoulder blade- the shoulder still hurts in cold weather and is not as strong as her right. She tends to wear warm colours like green, brown and orange and likes practicality over fashion so tends to wear jeans, flat shoes and jumpers.
Personality traits: Roisín does like to think of herself as a free spirit who goes where the wind takes her and can never settle whether it be a place or a person. In reality, she tends to get frustrated with repeated tasks and if something isn’t new or a passion she often doesn’t have the discipline to complete what she considers mundane. Often she will leave something to the last minute and in a panic finds the amazing work ethic to get something done in an all-nighter. In truth while Roisín does have great compassion and heart she’s still quite immature and naive to anywhere outside of her home only ever staying in once place long enough to get slightly bored of it.
