He went to the kitchen to prepare the tea, scones and omelet Kanaria requested. He put it all on a cart and made his way swiftly to the living room. As he was walking he thought to himself, "Ciel Phantomhive's soul will be very tasty, it's worth the starvation". He made his way to the living room and knocked on the door. Once he was allowed in he opened the door and shut if behind him. He pushed the cart along and poured the tea. Then he put a scone in front of Ciel and the Omelet in front of Kamari. "Here is to omelet you requested my lady" he said and picked up the sugar jar on the cart. "How much sugar would would you like in you're tea my lord and my lady" he asked. He put the sugar in the tea and put the teacups on a saucer and put them next to Ciel and Kamaria. "Anything else my lord?" he asked but then heard a knock on the front door. "Excuse me" he said politely and bowed.
He walked to the main hall and opened the front door to see it was Elizabeth. "Good afternoon Lady Elizabath. Is there anything I can help you with?" he said and bowed.
As she stood in the moonlight, luminous from the eternal gaze, the small ridges of the scars on her arms seemed to be noticeable even to the human eye. It was nothing that Veronica was ashamed of, there were only so many gifts one could have being what she was. Each scar had it's own story...defending an adventurous Master who thought of the wondrous idea of going bear-baiting with only a sword. That resulted in her abdomen nearly being sliced like a fine piece of meat by an irate bear. Others were of...nobler causes one could say as she touched the upper of her throat, a minuscule scar just peaking out..a Mistress with a terrible habit of courting the wrong men who were fond of harsher affections. That was the final incident in which she allowed her Contracts to get into obviously dangerous situations..without her trailing behind like some mother hen at least. It would appear that William would be no different than the others...
Sighing with an air nostalgia about her she returned her attention to a good-intentioned William, obviously trying to play up the big damn hero in this production. If he wanted to play the hero, she would play the ruthless villain in hopes of deterring his endeavors of being the child hero and assisting the less fortunate child victims of the kidnapping. Running a hand through her hair she laughed quietly..it was cold even for her. A smirk on her face "I don't understand why you find yourself so determined to help those children. Why should they so like yourself, lost beings in this cruel world be given assistance from you? Allow them to learn from their mistakes, if not let them perish as is the natural order of things. Do not become the hope of the hopeless..it will be your downfall in the end."
Gently jabbing him in the center of her Mark she said in a softer tone "You, despite your best intentions and whatever you humans call a sense of self-justification, cannot save everyone you come across that is down on their luck. Look at yourself before all of this. A common street rat selling his body for the smallest of worth, downtrodden by nearly everyone you had met. There was no one for you to call for help. Your only living grace was your beloved memories of your mother...and the scraps of clothing on your back. I may just be a demon, but even I have enough self-worth to not get into situations I know will not be in my favor. So Master, my final words of advice is be selfish with your life. Do not just throw it away by getting murdered by child traffickers, I doubt you wish to end up on your knees before a pimp now do you?". The mewing of cat broke the silence as Veronica stopped and shook her head before muttering "I forget you are still a child...to be reckless is in your nature I suppose. Forgive me if I was too outspoken."
A small, sad smile played on his lips as he stuffed his free hand in his pocket and started walking, humming a soft tune to himself as he made his way through the dirty streets of London, simply expecting her to follow. He did not stop until he reached an old house which was still standing there, though it looked like it had been abandoned for many years. "You're right," he finally said as he gazed up at the ruins of his old home, "acting impulsively like that... is very childish indeed. I have never relied on others before... with you here, it should have been no different, and yet I relied on you... that shan't happen again. I was never this helpless before as I was today... I could always defend myself. Well, to some extent, at least. But now?" James laughed ruefully and and shook his head, a strange look flashing through his bright blue eyes, "now I was pathetic..." he walked up the stairs and prayed the door open, having to use quite some force to actually manage to open it... but it worked. Then, he stepped inside, the floorboards creaking as he did so. Glancing around, he placed down the dolls suitcase and started walking through the narrow hallway.
"You had a contract with my mother if I remember what you said correctly, no?" he asked as he sauntered into the living room and crouched down, carefully digging his nails into each side of a floorboard which seemed to be slightly smaller than the others. Carefully, he pulled it out to reveal a tiny space beneath. He hated this house; with all his heart... because it reminded him of what more happened here so many years ago. But he knew it as well as he knew his own pocket.
James pulled out a small, leathery diary along with an old newspaper from the space and held it up, gazing up at the demoness. "Then why did you let this happen...? Mother never died of an illness... it is just a story I've told myself to make it all less gruesome..." he smiled weakly, sadly, "no... my mother was murdered... I can still see it clearly before me, as if it happened just yesterday... but if you made a contract with her, shouldn't you have protected her?" James tilted his head, smiling up at the demoness softly. There was neither happiness nor sadness in his smile... almost as if it was... empty. "Why did you let her die?" he asked gently, standing up, "and why did you make a contract with me? What do you stand to gain in an impossible task such as my own? Is my soul really worth the trouble and the wait?"

Kanaria smiled her tanks to the butler and shook her head. "No... that is all I wanted, thank you, sir," she said with a slight nod of her head before starting to dig in on the omelet. Finally she could eat it without any birds stealing it away from her! Grinning at her victory. Pausing and blushing as she realized she actually wasn't alone, she straightened up in her seat and glanced at the strange boy from before. "Oh... yeah, right, kashira," she said with a slight nod of her head, "there was something you wanted to ask m..." she trailed off and paused when she sensed her medium nearby. A small frown creased her forehead as she made herself ready to spring to her feet and run to her medium. What was she doing here?!
Elisabeth grinned at Sebastian as she tilted her head. "Good afternoon, Sebastian!" she greeted gleefully as she nodded her head, "I am here to see Ciel!" she declared, peeking around behind Sebastian in hope to spot him, "is he here?"
(Amori, what you just did is considered Godmoding... since you controlled the actions of my character. I would appreciate if you didn't do that anymore. This is just a warning, so it's fine... just... please don't, okay? :3)
He opened the door slowly, "young master you have a visitor" he said and let Lizzie inside the living room. He walked in himself and closed the door behind him. He then poured a cup of tea for Lizzie and put two cubes of sugar in it and put the teacup on a saucer. "Here you go, my lady, would you like anything else" he asked and bowed. He watched Ciel, Lizzie and Kanaria closely as any butler should do. This is the very least a Phantomhive butler should do. He pulled out his pocked watch and looked at the time, 4:30. "I am very sorry to interrupt, young master, but I must start to prepare dinner. Are our guests staying for dinner?" he awaited the reply then bowed and left the living room closing the door behind him and heading to the kitchen.
He opened the door of the kitchen and took off his gloves revealing his black nails and the mark that seals the contract. He started preparing dinner perfectly as he usually did. He thought to himself, "I am simply one hell of a butler".
He was chopping vegetables and saw that Grell was still there staring at him. He walked to the oven and opened the little hatch letting out the hot wind that blew his hair back. He put the meat pies in the oven and closed the hatch. He then walked over to Grell and looked at him harshly. "If your going to be stupid then you can just leave" he said and walked over to the kitchen and opened the door. "I don't want to get distracted" he said with a smug smile.
Her eyes flashed crimson as she recalled the day her Mistress' life was taken ever so brutally. Running a hand through her blonde hair she said softly "I didn't let your mother die on purpose, it was not like I could not sense she was in danger. My main concerns were for my only orders to keep you from harm. So when that drunk bastard barreled into this very room, I took it upon myself to remove you from the situation..after all I doubt your mother would of liked it if you saw her own death. So I easily led you through the various alleyways until you yourself in your short attention span became lost in the maze. I managed to get back here to find your mother with her throat slit and bleeding out before my eyes. By that time she was beyond saving even with my gifts..I had fulfilled my Contract and took her soul without a second thought such is my nature. Although out of respect for her memory I did mend her body to make it seem as if she had died from a natural cause." Letting out a small breath she returned the glove to her hand as if it had served its' purpose. She clearly felt the tension in the air and hoped it would be diffused calmly..without yelling.
Cocking her head to the side she slowly began shifting into that of a fox. Small red ears popped out of her head, twitching with excitement as her eyes became more cat-like and a stunning green color. Soon all that remained was a red fox with luscious crimson coat of fur. Despite being a bit bigger than a natural fox, very few people would pay attention to the size if they caught a glimpse of the numerous piercings that were in both fluffy ears. One of which was silver bell, tinkling merrily as the ears moved in an attempt to hear everything around it. With a small wag of her tail she trotted to the feet of her young Master before wagging her tail slowly in an almost dog-like fashion. Gently touching her cold nose to his hand, her voice projecting into his head ~ As you can see, there is more to my name than just a name...~. Her brilliant green eyes flashed crimson as Veronica resumed her human form with ease...before sighing as she felt the tufts of her fox ears remain for a few moments longer. That was one issue she had with her animal form..parts tended to linger on the occasion.
Clearing her throat quietly she gently touched his fair hair briefly before muttering quietly "please understand, that it was my duty to protect you on your mother's orders. As for why I have made a contract you...it was an intriguing idea. Perhaps I felt obligation to continue protecting you...guilt from failing to protect her..unlikely...the fact that your mother's soul was a worthwhile meal..that is a decent reason.." A small chuckle escaped her lips as he began protesting the task he had set "Humans from what I have seen always seem to think that time is never on their side and impossible tasks will remain impossible. I assure you sir we will have time to complete your goal...". Now with a faint smile on her face she said "Now, shall we return home to that humble college I went to earlier? I would prefer to not have you break through these tricky floors...it would not be pleasant. If you wish to ask any further questions, it would be best to be outside.
James sighed as he listened to her go on about why he had let his mother die. He nodded his head, a sad look flashing across his features though he did not say anything more than, "I see," about it. Standing up, he kept the diary in his hands and arched an eyebrow as he saw her starting to change form. A small smile of amusement flitted across his lips and he couldn't help that think she was adorable like that. He would have to paint her in fox form one day, that was for sure. However, he didn't think she would appreciate much being called adorable, no? Demons most likely didn't gain from being adorable. However, he too remembered that he had seen here before, sometime long ago...
He smiled as she turned back and the fox ears remained for a little moment, trying to keep himself from laughing or chuckling at least a little. Then he turned serious again, though there was still an amused glint in his pale blue eyes. "Huh? My goal is impossible, though... we will never be able to eradicate evil totally. Besides, it is a childish and idiotic dream... and something that flashed through my mind just for the moment. I should have thought things through before I said anything... but noooooooo, being the moron I am I didn't. I could have asked for anything... though really there wasn't much I wanted in exchange for giving my soul... so I just said the first, biggest and most impossible task that came to my mind. Oh, it would be nice if people stopped being greedy and stopped hurting each other, but even if we eradicated all those people, there would always be born new ones... The contract itself makes no sense at all. It is as much a mess as I probably am..." he trailed off and sighed softly, stuffing the diary into his pocket and shrugged his shoulders.
"Hmm... Veronica? How exactly do these contracts work?" James asked curiously, tilting his head, "I mean... do we actually have to eradicate all evil in England before it is completed? Or is it enough for me to think my goal here in life is completed, and you can take my soul? And, what happens to a soul after it is devoured? Is it simply none existent, or does it become a part of you?" he paused, "because that would mean there is a part of my mother with you right now," he smiled slightly and then paused at her words about going home.
"Yes, we probably should," he agreed, nodding his head a little as he picked up the suitcase with the doll and started outside, "uh and... sorry for all the fuss I made you. I shall be far more careful from now on... running around like that is another of my moronic qualities, I guess. Yup, that's my problem... and yours too, I guess. You just made a contract with a complete moron..." he chuckled softly, looking very cheerful in comparison to how he had seemed just moments ago. It was almost as though he was... enjoying himself, despite it all.
