On one occasion he could go out and enjoy the company of being around other people and having a good time. At other points, he would rather be alone and not have or want anything to do with anyone else. He could be a little cold and bitter at times due to being rejected by anyone who wouldn't try to understand or help Dylan's condition and situation back in his hometown. He often hides the hurt of this behind an easy going face and a smile when engaging in conversation with people he works with or customers at his job. This causes him to hold back on opening up to people and showing them the real Dylan, so when people do try and get him to open up, he'll tell them to back off. When he tells them off, he'll either be serious or sarcastic depending on his mood. The things he likes to do is enjoy reading a good book, bowling, and the occasional video game whenever he has free time.
Personal History: Dylan Nelson is not a native to Fort Blackburn, he had moved to the city a few years back after leaving his hometown after an accident at the university forced him to move. Born to a single mother without a father around, Dylan struggled to get around by himself without a father figure around. It had especially made his mother feel bad when she would notice her son would watch the father-son events that took place at family fun festivals at the city park with a forlorn expression on his face. In high school Dylan was intelligent and active, always volunteering to help the teachers and being the first to answer the questions they asked. Taking part in the school's cross country teams, he had allowed the kind mentoring of the coach to fill in the void of not having a dad around.
With inspiration, Dylan went onto the local university to pursue into science and genetics. Dylan had caught the eyes and interest of a group of students who shared the same value and passion for genetic research. They were being funded by the school's science department and the Department of Homeland Security in researching up a way to genetically improve the physical limits of a human being, and progress was booming. Test results on animals were proven to be successful; frail old dogs were now as lively and active as their younger kin, a cat with only three legs had regained its lost fourth leg. The time came for testing on humans. However the school and the DHS suddenly and immediately pulled the funding for the project, and it seemed everything was at a standstill. For the group of bright students that put their effort into this project, they would not stop. Resorting that the only way to prove themselves, was of course making the sacrifice on themselves. Dylan and the others put their life on the line by injecting themselves with the genetic formula, hoping in ways they would become more than they originally were.
Not is like it seems, as the next thing Dylan knew after injecting himself with the formula was finding himself lying face first on the laboratory floor with clothes half burned off, fire sprinklers going off, and a huge gaping hole in the university's science building. Disorientation plagued as he felt sick to his stomach, making his way out of the building the ran to find some help. Every person who he came across to get help reacted negatively to him, calling him names such as "freak" and "mutant". He didn't understand what they meant until he saw his own reflection in a puddle, everything about him was glowing a bright emerald green. The name callers got violent and started throwing blunt and sharp objects at him, forcing him to defend himself. He held his hands out to block the flying objects when rays of emerald light shot out and disintegrated each object thrown at him. This of course only increased the name calling and projectile throwing, Dylan turned and ran to the only being who could help him; his mom.
When he got back to his childhood home, he tried explaining to her on what happened. When trying to emphasize a point by pointing his finger, a green bolt shot out and shattered the flower vase on the kitchen table. His mother's demeanor took a turn for the worse and she got a cold look and told him to get out, declaring he is no better than "Him" now. Dylan tried to ask what she meant, but she turned and became like everyone else. Calling him a freak, yelling for him to leave, and throwing objects at him. And so Dylan did the only thing he knew to do and what he was good at back in high school, he ran.
Years later Dylan is now living in downtown Fort Blackburn, having founded aid in a kind owner of local electronics and appliance repair shop which he also works in along with his other job as working as a production editor assistant at one of the television news stations in the city. Living alone in his one bedroom studio apartment, he does enough to allow himself to get by and to get through the next day. During the night, he is part of the Mavericks, known as Hazard.
Powers, Weapons, Ect.: Ionikinesis: The ability to manipulate, shape, and create highly ionizied gas, or as otherwise called plasma. Various abilities with the plasma he can do it is fire in the form of plasma blasts. The form could be something as simple as a laser like shot or to a much stronger blast that fires with the force of a rocket. Also he could infuse objects with plasma energy like a baseball bat to give it extra kick. Defensive capabilities include projecting a shield that deflects and repels projectiles such as bullets from an assault rifle. Took some martial arts classes as well, so he can defend himself in a physical fight.
Combat: Dylan is well versed in the form hand to hand combat, primary from his experiences of being a street vigilante.
Agility: Since doing cross country in high school, Dylan has kept himself in shape. He can easily move over various forms of terrain.
Weaknesses: Using Ionikinesis is incredibly draining on him, extended use could have him feeling fatigued or extremely sick and vulnerable. When not using his powers, Dylan needs to take the time to relax and let himself recharge. Also the shield projection is extremely dangerous, besides the normal draining process, the barrage of being attacked increases the drain by either two or three times the normal draining process takes. Due to the rejection and hatred, he has a hard time trusting people he meets. It took him awhile to trust Roberts, the electronics shop owner before eventually accepting that Roberts was being honestly genuine with his care and aid.
Any additional information we should know: Dylan hates bullies and thugs, always have since childhood and made it a point to stand up to them or stop them. While the neighborhood around his apartment and Roberts' electronics shop is relatively good, you still get the one band of thugs or drug dealers who are content with starting trouble. Dylan has took it upon himself to stand up and take these thugs down a notch, either by simply talking them down or by using force. Infusing himself with plasma energy allows him to increase the power of his punches, easily knocking away the non-superpower thugs and gangs. Dylan works alongside Jay and Alex as part of the Mavericks' night patrol team.
