a character in “Bleach: Burning Dawn”, originally authored by Seveneleven, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Hironobu Watanabe
Age: 30
He appears a man of handsome features. With long brown hair and dark eyes. They only thing that seems to ruin his visage is the long, visible scar across his face. He wears the standard black kimono with the white undergarment. He does wear the long, white cloak found on Captains. He is of average height and of a medium, toned build.

Image
(Imagine the scar)

Abilities: Skilled in Zanjutsu and a master of Shunpo. He does well in Kido, prefers to use Bakudo instead of Hado, but that doesn't mean he isn't well versed in using offensive incantations. Hakuda would be his weak point. He recognizes the taijutsu styles but isn't much of a practitioner in the art.
Division: 7
Rank: Captain
Zanpakuto: Kimiki (Tree-Lord) Image
Shikai: His Shikai's basic appearance is that same of it's unreleased state. The only difference is the blade is golden.
*Sutorecchi Shibu (Stretching Branch): The sword spouts forth what would be the branch of a golden tree, but it can elongate to incredible lengths.

Sashiki Kyojin Ki (Planting of the Giant Tree): Hironobu touches the ground with the tip of his sword and soon a sapling sprouts and then, it grows to an incredible height. The Tree is completely golden, including the leaves.

Niawashii Sono Ki (Becoming the Tree): The greatest technique his shikai could perform. When the blade cuts it's opponent, roots spout forth and soon the opponent is trapped inside a golden tree. Then when the blade is sheathed the tree loses it's golden color for a sickly looking bark, and the energy is transmitted through the leaves. The leaves glow in a golden color and then they disperse. Why this happens is because the person has their Reiryoku drained and given to the leaves. The person shouldn't be dead, but very weakened.

Niawashii Sono Heki Ki/ Ishi Ki (Becoming the false tree or Stone Tree): Hironobu stabs the blade in to the ground and a ripple effect is caused. A small upheaval of land rushes towards the opponent and soon roots latches around the ankles. Soon their body turns into a petrified state. Looking like the bark of a tree but made of stone. There are small branches with leaves popped out for added effect. Does nothing but makes a more defined appearance. Not as effective as the previous move, but the opponent becomes entrapped much more longer, yet does not suffer any drain.

Bankai: Name: Kin Kimiki (Golden Tree-Lord)
Hironobu plants the blade into the ground and speaks it's release. The ground then glows around him and his arms transform to look like the bark from a golden tree. He grows what appears to be stag antlers upon his head. A brown fur cloak appears and it covers his arms, shoulders, and backside. His hands have golden, elongated fingers. Where ever he steps, the ground seems to react with life as green grass and wild flowers grow.

(Details of what his Bankai can do will be released later)

Release Command: Hanagata (Flourish) Kimiki.

Personality

Hironobu is a kind, gentle man, who appears to always have a warm smile. Despite his friendly and nurturing disposition, he is often alone and has been figured to be anti-social. He isn't anti-social but never feels the need to show himself outside of the normal meetings. A very introverted person. One that does enjoy company but doesn't take the effort to go out searching for it. When the times people have been able to speak with him, they always have something nice to say. Very easy-going and considerate of others. He is remarkably humble for a captain.

Often he is by himself and is much suited to his work, which he takes great pride in. He doesn't really make frequent appearances to his own squad, leaving many of them to wonder what their captain is like. Times he does they seemed to find him, a respectable person, but inferences are hard to make when he is constantly absent from their presence. The only person that would see him regularly would be his lieutenant. Even then he doesn't say much.

Very soft-spoken and level-headed, he mainly is peaceful. He loves the gardens and spends most of his time there. No one has even ever seen Hironobu angry, some say it isn't even possible. When in combat, he still doesn't exhibit any rage or anger. Still the same calm and collected individual. Noticeably more serious and losses the smile, but no less has a peaceful air about him.

He's also very intelligent, but doesn't show much interest in science or other pursuits of knowledge. He lives a very humble, and what could be called a dull existence but not to him. He's often wandering the woods or traveling around areas of serene beauty. Or he does much calligraphy and has written many scrolls, on private thoughts. These are kept separate from work scrolls.

History

Details of Hironobu's death is sketchy even to him, but his passion for artistry didn't disappear. In his past life he was a painter, and one could suppose his brush was his blade. The paper was his hollow. He can hardly remember what works of art he had done, but it was over nature. His love for the outside didn't seem to die as well.

Hironobu can't honestly remember how he died, he did recognize some odds going ons before his death. Before he had notice spirits but he believed these to be the saplings that would grow into a tree of madness. From what he could remember, something tragic occurred in his life, and he believed the sightings of spirits was his sanity being loss. Then more spirits appeared and Hironobu feared for his mind. He began to paint ghosts in his work and one very disturbing piece was made. It was that of a Hollow, but whatever it is, was unknown to him.

After the painting of a Hollow, he draws a blank, until he remembers a light and being guided it through it by a person in a black kimono. Hironobu, with determination unknown, struggled to piece his old life back together. He set up another art studio in the Rukon District. Trying his best to ease himself from his untimely passing. While at first it seemed he had new material to paint, the disturbing images appeared again. The Hollow from before, returned in his art. Just what was going on?

He started a journal, writing his thoughts down on scrolls. Detailing his thoughts and dreams, but more importantly the Hollow. It would seem to be the base for a horror movie, as he detailed dreams and events of the monster. It was all rather frighting actually. He because disturbed and sought...help, in the Soul Society. When he presented his art to another soul, they recognized it as a Hollow. A dreadful monster, but if he sought more information he would have to find the Shinigami. He did so, but admittance into the Seireitei was next to impossible for someone not a Shinigami.

Feeling some what hopeless his torments didn't stop. One faithful evening, after another sleepless night, Hironobu wandered the district. He soon found himself wandering the woods. Being out there always calmed him but soon it became the scene of his greatest nightmare. The same Hollow in his art had been stalking him, ever since his time amongst the living. The Hollow spoke of his frustration in finding Hironobu, and how the Shinigami bested him. He blamed them for saving his soul but now will gain what he desired. Apparently Hironobu had an exceptional amount of Reiryoku, so exceptional that it drove this Hollow to have a lust for it.

Hironobu now faced death once more.He didn't know what to do but in his fear he released some of his spirit energy. While this just drove the Hollow more mad, it did alert some Shinigami. They came to his rescue and once again the Hollow was denied. In fear he fled once again. The Shinigami helped Hironobu up and commented on his Reiatsu, saying such power could be put to good use for the Soul Society. They also spoke how it would teach him to defend himself, if the Hollow should ever attack again. Hironobu longing for his peace of mind, joined the Academy and worked hard to graduate. His ability was spectacular and was readily accepted into the Gotei 13.

The newly appointed Shinigami was accepted into Division Nine. He worked hard and acquired Seventh Seat. Along the way he had secretly hoped to run across that Hollow again so he can receive punishment for all of his troubles. His hopes had come reality. On a mission, which he felt unprepared for, found himself face to face with the Hollow. He challenged it for all of his nightmares, and the Hollow greedily accepted. In a fierce fight, Hironobu was given a grievous gash across his face. It appeared this Hollow would get the best of him for the second time.

In desperation he heard the name of his Zanpakuto. He unleashed his Shikai and the fight swinged into his favor. Soon he drained the Hollow with a tree and gave the decisive blow. The fight left him wounded and weak and his fellow Shinigami came and brought him back for medical aid. After his escapade, he would rise to Third Seat. He continued to hone his skills and was made a Lieutenant. Then when he reached his Bankai he was made Captain of Division Seven. His face was forever scarred but, every time Hironobu looked at it, he was at peace. Finally knowing his nightmare...was over.

So begins...

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Entry #33

"Once again, I find another soul. Being wayward and lost. Constantly fluttering like a moth in the dark. The soul was found in a strange place, being in the middle of nowhere. It was dark and overcast, rain was on the horizon. Could smell it in the air, the cold, dampness that threatens to wash the land clean. I made a hasten step, discovering this lost soul. It was confused, unpredictable, and most of all, scared. A Hollow had been chasing it, much like I. Why does is it reoccurring? It's the reason I write about my finding of this soul. Her story similar to mine...could it be? I highly doubt the return of, my once fearsome foe. I know my strike killed the beast. Perhaps, there are more like him? I did my best to shelter the soul, but she wouldn't listen....

"O, woe I feel for the soul. Such hyperactivity, wasn't uncommon of a small child waking up from a half-remembered dream. Or more specifically, a nightmare. I worried greatly and twas the reason for my departure on such a miniscule mission. Familiarity...it draws me back to my memories. Oh, how I could see the past written in her eyes...like a book. Recounting the horror, it made me want to cry. I followed the spirit, even more confused and unreceptive of my constant pursuit. It wondered why I would chase her. Why did everything want to chase her? I could not answer...all I could say was come with me and you will live..."

Hironobu placed his pen down as he looked at the scroll. He was tired and hasn't slept all that well for a few days. The rumors of dark forces has kept him in a unsteady balance. (What is causing all of the destruction?) He wondered. Ponderous has been the word of the week it would seem. Such mysteries, he can't seem to wrap his head around. Tales of a familiar monster resurrected for his revenge. This isn't the first soul he had encountered having these similar symptoms. He has saved them, but has yet to divulge the source of the problem. Such mysteries would keep anyone up at night. For now all he could do was finish the entry.

"...My pleas were becoming harder to get through. The intensity of the matter grew as I felt a spiritual pressure come nearer. This upset the girl greatly and once again I must follow. For a time, the rain began to pour and the mission became the stage for a light show. The lightning struck and my vision became blurred. I thought she was lost... I returned to scene of the pressure. Nothing there. Returned to the soul, even more shaken up. I told her I would lead her away from this place...all will be well. Then she said something that disturbed me. Nowhere was safe..."

Again his mind wandered. The room felt stuffy in his quarters. He needed some fresh air. Hironobu never liked being inside for too long. The freshness of the outside called to him, like a siren. Hironobu stood up and opened the door to the outside. He was dressed in his black kimono, yet absent of his white coat. He paced the balcony and wandered down the steps. He headed for his garden...hopefully to calm his nerves. He entered the garden. Many plants and stone decoration. It immediately eased him. He walked up to the pond and saw his reflection. The scar...it should remind him that his nightmare is over. (It is over,) He thought to himself. He stared for a long while making peace with himself, once again.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Evening, 7th Barracks, Captain's Garden

After sitting for quite some time on a stone bench, Hironbou stared up at the evening sky. It was getting late. (I should at least attempt sleep) He thought to himself. The long haired captain slowly stood up and left the garden. He wandered the barracks heading for his quarters. His mind was heavy from the events of his previous excursion, yet the relaxing garden eased him some what. Hopefully it was enough to obtain a decent night's sleep. Hironobu ascended the stairs to his quarters as he opened the sliding bamboo door. His room was neat and pristine. He always kept a tidy quarter.

Hironbou stepped in looking one more time behind, as if saying goodbye to the outside before he closed the door. Inside his candle was nearly spent and his scroll was unfinished. Hironobu walked towards his desk and looked down upon the scroll. His memory returned to that stormy night. The fear all to apparent in that spirit's eyes. He can never forget the look of terror, it was truly horrific. Hironbou shook his head, dismissing the weighted thoughts. He closed the scroll noticing the ink was dry. He would complete it in the morning...or later depending on his sleep.

The captain proceeded to snuff out the candle. Darkness fully covered the room and Hironobu yawned. Hopefully this time, sleep will come peacefully. The shinigami walked towards his bedding and removed his clothing. Only dressed in his underwear as he lied himself down. He covered his body with blankets and lied his head down upon the pillow. The captain stared off into the ceiling, almost piercing the veil. He allowed his eyes to become drowsy and droopy. As the weight came down upon his eyes, he finally closed them for the evening. Sleep will soon come.

Even in his slumber the visions persisted. His subconscious brought him to the scene of the ghost girl. Once again, her reluctance in following Hironobu gave him problems. She was all but traumatized by what he suspects is a Hollow stalking her. Whatever it was, it certainly had a sick pleasure in it's stalking behavior. Normally Hollows attack concentration or Reiryoku without much forethought. Their only concern is sating their appetite. This leads them to brash attacks with instinct driving their motives. Except for this one. This behavior isn't unheard of but isn't common. Normally this would suggest a possible greater intelligence, like found in a higher class of Hollow. Most likely an Adjuchas, even then would it risk it's methodical tendency in fear of reverting back into a Gillian?

As the shinigami looked at the girl he had to make more pervasive actions. Hironobu grabbed the soul by the arm, but not in a rough or hurtful way. He would had to force her movements but she wouldn't be harmed. She naturally resisted. As if caught inside a tantrum she fought his grasp until she became free. She ran again. This was becoming a bit bothersome, but Hironobu is patient. He will save her no matter what. Following once more he found her underneath some rocks that made a shabby cave. She wouldn't budge. Hironobu apologized for his actions but there was no response. Once again he felt that spiritual pressure. It wasn't close but not too far off. He would go and investigate, if he could kill the Hollow then most likely the spirit would follow. He arrived where he felt the Reiatsu at it's greatest. Once again no Hollow to be seen. Then came the most bone-chilling scream, he ran for the soul.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Evening, Captain's Quarters

As Hironobu ran he came across the source of the scream. The soul disappeared, fearing the worst he did his best to see where she disappeared to. The captain ran about as the rain returned and downfall was heavy. Hironobu ran around trying his best to locate the soul and then he felt her. Her Reiryoku was flaring and the fluctuations was bound to catch the attention of Hollows. Rushing he followed the source only to come up...

A flash of lightning and he saw the soul being chased by someone. Hironobu rushed and then another bolt blocked his path, nearly making his fall over. The scream intensified and in a split second silence. It was unnerving. He called out desperately to hear her and then another flash of lightning and a set of glowing eyes could be seen. Then came a wicked laugh and then nothing. Hironobu had no idea what it was but it must have been a Hollow.

Hironobu rose from his bed as he began to rub his head. "Again." He said to himself as he risen. Another dream and nothing but dread and failure. The lost of the soul weighed heavily on his mind, so much so sleep was hard to keep. Hironobu went to his desk, lit the candle and finished his entry. He looked at the scroll, reading it over again. He would have to wait for it to dry before he could seal it. The captain decided to don his kimono and walked outside. He could hear clamoring from the barracks over yonder. It sounds like Kuromori was breaking them in. He was always doing stuff like that, it sounds like their done for the evening. That's good, he always works them a bit too hard.

Then the captain felt some spiritual pressure, obviously had to have come from a captain. Someone was pushing themselves as well. Hironobu decided to walk off and see what he might come across. Hironobu wandered off around the barracks. It seems the men were taking a break. He continued to wander and soon came to a cliffside which appears to be the sight of a recently used Hado. Then he would find none other than the 1st Division Captain himself, Kai Ryuuzen. Hironobu never talked to him all that much, seems like a decent man. Well one has to be if they are the Captain-Commander. (Why is he just lying there?) He wondered and walked up to him. "Um, Captain-Commander?" He called out softly. "Captain Ryuuzen?" He didn't move. Perhaps he should inquire with 4th Division over this? Then he thought best to wait and see if he stirs before alerting the medics.

Kai Ryuuzen

though Hironobu Wantanabe was calling Kai was still unconcious but the look on his face shown something of fear mixed with worry almost like an uneasy dream had befallen him but with so little energy left he couldn't wake himself no matter how hard he wanted to that was the first time but not the last the look of fear would appear on his face. All black he was surrounded with nothing but darkness not a good soul to be seen the air around him was thick almost murcky even 'am i in the human world' he thought to himself then shook the thought out of his mind "no i must be a sleep i never left the soul society so how....' before he could finish that thought a pair of crimson red eyes appeared along with thousands of hollow masks "this will be then end of the soul society not even a captain of the Gotei 13 will be able to stop the destruction that is looming in the distance" a woman's voice echoed through out the black.

Wondering what all it was about Kai found himself waking up in the same spot he passed out at "oh captain Wantanabe how long have you been there?" he asked still unable to move anymore then his fingers "and if it's not to much trouble could you help me back to my quarters as you can see i'm really exhausted and could use the rest." he barely managed to laugh at himself before looking serious "and tomorrow i need you to gather up as many captains as you can there will be a meeting at noon, it's something urgent i assure you so don't be late."

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Evening, Cliff in the Seireitei

The Captain noticed the sudden stirrings of the Captain-Commander. It appeared he too was having, rather troubling dreams. When he woke up, it seemed he was fine for the most part. (I guess reporting to Fourth Division won't be necessary) he thought to himself. "Oh, not too long, I was wandering the area to pass the time." Hironobu responded. He then asked him if he could assist him returning him to his quarters. "Sure, I can manage that." Hironobu spoke as he went to help lift up Kai. He placed one of his arms around his shoulder, as leverage to carry him along.

Then came a sudden request. (Gather the Captains?) He thought to himself. (It must be serious, I wonder what it could possibly be?) He then looked over to Captain Ryuuzen. "Yes I shall." He responded. Hironobu carried him from the cliff, all the way to the 1st Division barracks. He used Hoho to make the trip quicker. Once there he entered what should be his quarters. He opened the sliding door and entered his room. Hironobu scanned the area and found the Captain's bed. "Here we are." He spoke as he placed Kai gently upon the bedding.

"Is there anything you need of me?" He asked. He might as well be thorough before taking his leave. If not then his ink should be dry enough to seal his scroll and then resume sleep. That is if he even can.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Morning, Captain's Quarters, 7th Division Barracks

Even after leaving Kai in his quarters, sleep still did not come to Hironobu. Much was on his mind and even with all of his contemplation, the sun began to rise. It was early morning and it seemed another night has gone by without much sleep. The captain didn't want to make a habit of this but something keeps his attention. Dismissing anymore troublesome thoughts, he decided best to start the day off right and find a spot for early bathing.

The Captain preferred morning bath times, helps refresh him, especially after a sleepless night. He made his way to the baths and prepared himself for a new day. There were others but not a large number since the day is just new, and not all have stirred from their beds. After several minutes, Hironobu finished and left before others noticed his presence. After drying himself and returning to his quarters in a robe, he dressed in the traditional uniform. The black kimono with the white undergarments, and white obi sash. The only difference in his from the others, is the trade mark white coat that has the number seven on his back. In his full captain's uniform, he placed Kimiki in his sash and went off to find the other captains.

He traveled the Seireitei informing the Captains of the meeting at noon. Despite some of the late risers, he was able to inform most of the captains. The last he had to visit were the Captains of Tenth and Thirteenth Divisions. Closer, would be the Tenth Division Barracks. On his way he entered the area and asked around for where the Captain's quarters were located. He was pointed in the right direction. He walked up to the door to her quarters. Hironobu hadn't spoken much to Captain Shosuke before. Of course he didn't interact much with his fellow Captains, but from the times he did, Captain Shosuke seemed nice enough. He politely tapped on the door.

"Captain Shosuke?" He softly called. "Are you there?" He asked. The Seventh Division Captain awaited to hear a response. If she wasn't in her quarters, then perhaps she is at her office. Hironobu decided he would try his luck there, if no answer came soon.

Ryu Shosuke

"Captain Shosuke" "Are you there?"

"what ..." Ryu got out of bed grumbling to herself about time and sleep. she always told her men not to wake her when she slept in only if it were an emergency. "THIS BETTER BE GOOD DAMMIT"she yelled at whoever knocked on her door, wearing nothing more than her sleeping attire that had sliped a bit too much and slammed the door open glaring at whoever it was. "oh crap"she mumbled to herself upon realizing it was Captain Watanabe. suddenly self counsious of her appearance "hold on a moment" and closed her door and rushed to get dressed kn her usual attire of a red tube too and baggy pants that were torn in a lot of places showing tanned skin. she slippedd into her captains coat with the number ten on it and as she walked by her dresser she picked up two hair pieces and began to braid her long red hair.

opening the door once more "this better be good enough to have woken me up from my sleep Captain Watanabe" and began walking while braidng her her hair. "so where to Captain"a hint of irritation in her voice.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Morning, 10th Division Barracks, Captain Shosuke's Quarters

Despite the grouchiness protracted by the captain, Hironobu gave a smile and a friendly laugh. Not in a mocking way, just a bit nervous if anything. She immediately left to dress herself in more appropriate attire it would seem. Hironobu really didn't care what she looked like, all that mattered was informing her of the meeting. She soon returned. "this better be good enough to have woken me up from my sleep Captain Watanabe" She spoke.

"Well I most certainly hope it is too." Hironobu chuckled. He just continue to give a smile as he looked at her. She was obviously more than a bit irritable but this was important. "Well dreadfully sorry about disturbing you Captain Shosuke, but Captain-Commander Ryuuzen has ordered a Captain's meeting." Hironobu went on to explain how he found him last night, and told him to do this. "The meeting is to take place at Noon, he expects us all to be there." Hironobu spoke relaying the message. "Once again dreadfully sorry for disturbing you." Hironobu then gave a polite bow. "Well see you at the meeting, I'm off to inform the rest." Hironobu softly spoke as he began to walk away.

That was a humorous encounter, just showing up like that. Oh well, at least he accomplished what he set out to do. Now all he had to do was reach the Thirteenth Barracks and inform their captain.

Ryu Shosuke

listening intently to what the other captain said she let out a huff as he gave a polite bow and left to inform the others. 'a meeting huh is it about what Kaido said last night' she was now no longer tired but wide awake and with a serious expression on her face. better let The others know ill be gone for a while. and with a a single step she was in the central barracks looking for Lieutenant Kujoo but not finding him there she told one of the other men that she would be gone for an hour or two and to alert the lieutenant of her absence.

she walked for awhile alone greeting the other men as they did their usual routines. 'i wonder how those two are doing should check up on them'using Hoho she appeared in the infirmary, startling a few medics.asking the nearest medic "may i ask where my men are?the ones who came in last night"to clearify. the female medic then led her to a small room with two beds that were not occupied. "i thought you said they were in here" easily towering over the girl. "im-im sorry Cap- Caltain Shosuke but this is where we put them, they must have left their rooms"she rellied nervously. sighing Ryu looked about and hearing a commotion she headed towards a fight she knew was inevitable if shedidnt stop it,the medic following close behind.

rounding the corner she came upon 3men and a woman;two of the men being hers.the female medic was kn the ground with a hurt expression on her face and her subordinate standing over her helping her up. "you stupid woman how dare you give us this gruel you call this food"one man said kicking a bowl of food to emphasis his point. "wait till my captain hears about this do you know who that is" "its- Ryu had walke behind him smacking the back of his head. after saying ow he turned around "who the hell did that thier dead meat when i get my-"stopping short of his threat he looked up at Ryu and grew pale, sweating beading on his forehead. Ryu glared at him then at his companion, she ten grabbed the two by the ear and pulled them away from scene. looking over her shoulder she called out to the medic who fell "dont worry dear ill take care of these two for now" turning back to her men with a starnge expression on her face "wont i boys"

after taking care of their punishment Ryu looked around noticing she disnt have much time left to get to the meeeting on time if she simply walked. "uugh this day just keeps getting better and better"and was gone. taking a second step she entered the meeting hall greeting the other captains as se took her spot.waiting patiently while the others came in.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

1st Division Barracks, Noon

Despite being late for the meeting he was able to catch one of the Captain passing by and asked him about what the meeting was about. He repeated what Ryuuzen spoke of. This disturbed Hironobu, is there a connection between all of these attacks and other strange goings ons? He felt ashamed for missing the meeting, but it wasn't entirely his fault. He was trying his best to gather all captains and well finding Captain Kaido was more difficult than he believed. He wasn't in his quarters or his office, he had no idea where the Thirteenth Division Captain was. That or he was and did not stir when Hironobu called.

Either way it seemed to be some serious issues going on. So serious in fact that the Captain-Commander is having us team divisions. Hironobu watched the others leave and it seemed it was more of a service announcement than a meeting. Hironobu took the information and left for his Office. He had to place somethings on records, perhaps he could find some sort of connection in all of this. Hironobu entered his office back in the Seventh Division Barracks and began to pull out older scrolls. These were files from the past few months. He opened them up and began to read through some of them.

As Captain Ryuuzen warned them, several Hollow attacks have been recorded. A high amount is unusual in such a short period of time. What makes it even more unusual is they have been reported to have been an Ahjuchas. There were also sightings of Gillians as well. Why would there be this unusual level of activity from such strong Menos? What is even more disturbing is this high-level power the Captain mentioned. What could it be besides a Hollow? If it isn't even a Vasto Lorde, then is it something else besides a Hollow? Maybe...a Shinigami? Yet, that doesn't make much sense...there has been any reports of a Shinigami outside of the Gotei 13. Hironobu looked through his scrolls and just more accounts of Menos attacks. Then came some accounts about random bits of destruction.

These accounts have become more frequent. Wastelands made over night, is it the work of these Hollows? Or is it something else? All of these incidents seem to be more than just coincidences...could there be a greater threat at work? Nothing here suggests such a thing, but it isn't entirely impossible. Still there isn't enough conclusive evidence to suggest another threat. The only thing that could cause alarm is the frequency and perpetrators of these attacks. It isn't common to have Adjuchas leave Hueco Mundo and attack the living or Soul Society like this. This cannot all be random...it looks random but the conditions though speak otherwise. Hironobu isn't sure but if the Captain suspects an invasion, then Hironobu will have to be on his guard.

Ryu Shosuke

she listened intently as Captain Ryuuzen informed them if his findings 'high alert huh well i'll be damned been awhile since we had last been on high alert.' hearing some captains argue about the pairings Ryu didnt really mind as long as she wasnt paired with one of the male captains who preseived her to be weak for being a woman.but really the fact that Captain Kai didnt think she or any of the captains could handle these hollows who seemed to be even stronger then Vasto Lordes. dissmissing them the captains trickled out of the meeting hall some sociolizeing and catching up on a neighbors affairs. she stayed back for awhile til she herself left the hall. for awhile Ryu simply walked on her own processing the new info.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Early After Noon, 7th Division Barracks, Captain's Office

After some time spending looking over files, Hironobu stood up. While he didn't find anything conclusive, there had to be something more. His thoughts were heavy but then realized he was cooked up in there longer, than he would have liked. The Captain decided to step out of his office and head for the Barracks. Perhaps he could release some tension at the Garden. Hironobu left his office and wandered the area.

He passed some of his division shinigami and they gave their Captain salutes or bows of respect. Hironobu then graciously returned each greeting. He was seeing a lot of his people lately...they must be on break. That made him think of his Lieutenant, what was Kuromori doing at this time? He should inform him about the meeting, while he is sure there will be likely a meeting for the Lieutenants over it, he would like to inform him, himself. He would soon find him the place he expected to find him, in the Courtyard. Training as always, he always seems to push himself. Must be that Eleventh Division mentality he developed during his time there. Hironobu walked in.

"Ah, Kuromori-san!" Hironobu cheerfully and spontaneously called out loud. He gave a friendly chuckle as he raised his right hand in a greeting manner. He hoped he didn't surprise him. "Hello!" He called keeping a friendly smile.

Kuromori Tenzen – 7th Division Lieutenant

Early afternoon, 7th Division’s Barracks, Courtyard

Tenzen was broken out his concentration and wild fantasies of what horrible fate Captain Hironobu might have suffered by that very same Captain’s casual greeting. With sudden urgency he turned to face his captain and rushed to him, breaking Hironobu’s personal space bubble as he began bombarding his captain with questions. “Captain! Where were you this morning?! What happened?! How did you fight of the army of Hollows that had come destroy you?!” Tenzen stood in front of his captain, unnecessary and utterly unreasonable worry clear on his face. It took a few moments before Tenzen caught on to the fact that his captain showed no signs of battle and that his own worries were completely baseless.

With a shock Tenzen almost jumped out of his Captain’s personal space bubble, the worry on his face suddenly replaced with something approaching shame. He bowed deeply to his captain. “I’m very sorry Captain Hironobu. It is unbecoming of a Lieutenant to be guided by his emotions like this.” He said as an apology, before standing up straight again with a somewhat embarrassed smile as he continued. “Good afternoon Captain. I hope this morning has been uneventful?”

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Early Afternoon, 7th Division Barracks, Courtyard

Hironobu nearly lept back at the sudden energy of his Lieutenant. He merely laughed at the comical display as he had a cheerful face. "More worked up than usual huh?" Hironobu spoke a bit confused by Kuromori's rantings. Kuromori always seemed a bit hyper at times, he really could use some rest. "Well I assure you whatever Hollows there were, they're gone." Hironobu joked. "Hehehe." He chuckled. He then saw Tenzen calm down some. That was good, he then bowed in apology.

"Oh please, please think nothing of it!" He waved his hand dismissively. "You've done nothing wrong, in fact just made me laugh was all." He smiled. “I’m very sorry Captain Hironobu. It is unbecoming of a Lieutenant to be guided by his emotions like this.” "Eh it doesn't matter to me, you thought what you thought." Hironobu spoke calmingly. “Good afternoon Captain. I hope this morning has been uneventful?”

At his question Hironobu's face did grow a bit more serious. "Well, I wish I could say that but not completely." Hironobu paused, "Well I had to go about and gather the other Captain's for a meeting was all." "Yet, what was spoken during that meeting has put everyone on edge." Hironobu's face then lost his smile as he gave Kuromori a dead serious look. "They may call in the Lieutenants for a meeting but I'll tell you myself," Hironobu cleared his throat, "Captain-Commander Ryuuzen is spooked from what I can tell." "He told the others that a high-level power was felt, something perhaps greater than a Vasto Lorde." "With the amount of Hollow attacks on the rise, I have a feeling something more is going on." "What I can't say, for I have nothing conclusive, but...the Captain has placed us on high alert." "Heck, he doesn't even want us to engage it on our own, even mentioned for Divisions to team up with one another." Hironobu then paused as a trouble look came up on his face.

"My dreams haven't been getting any better...I've told you before I have had trouble sleeping." He sighs, "I think whatever Captain Ryuuzen is feeling is probably right." "I just wanted you to know that." "I'm sorry I wish I came to tell you to take a day off or something." Hironobu nervously chuckled. His smile returned, "I'm sure whatever it is, it's nothing to get too worked up over, we just have to watch and be careful is all." Hironobu spoke reassuringly. He awaited to see how Tenzen would respond.

Kuromori Tenzen – 7th Division Lieutenant

Early afternoon, 7th Division’s Barracks, Courtyard

Tenzen relaxed when he saw his captain’s easy smile as he responded to Tenzen’s inquiries. But eventually that smile faded and Hironobu revealed the grim news. Tenzen tensed up slightly as he heard the term captain meeting. Nothing good ever came out of a captain meeting. As Hironobu continued to explain what had been discussed during that meeting Tenzen grew ever more tense, his facial expression slowly changing and grinding his teeth slightly. When Hironobu was finished Tenzen nodded once before bowing again, ”Thank you for informing me captain!” Tenzen said, with his usual gusto. ”I’ll suspend any training sessions for now so the men can get plenty of rest!” Tenzen continued, his back straight like a wooden plank and his voice slightly louder than was required for the private conversation they were having.

It wasn’t until Hironobu continued that Tenzen could really feel the strain. Not only was the Captain-Commander worried about something, so was the captain himself. And his dreams weren’t getting any better. "I'm sorry I wish I came to tell you to take a day off or something." Hironobu said, but Tenzen could only shake his head as he answered. ”No need for apologies captain! In times of emergency it is my task to assist you in leading the division! I will put my all into ensuring the division is ready for any eventuality!” Hironobu continued to explain that there was likely little to worry about and simply being on guard was enough for now, but it was too late. In Tenzen’s mind battle plans were being formed, guard schedules arranged and watchmen placed. He began grinding his teeth further as he reviewed all the possible entrances into soul society before he remembered he was conversing with his captain.

Tenzen looked at his captain, his sudden enflamed passion for doing his utmost to defend soul society clear in both his eyes and his body language. ”Understood captain!” Tenzen said as he gave another respectful bow. ”Shall I inform the men to wear their Zanpakutō at all times from now on? And how about the patrol routes, shall I double the patrols?” Tenzen said, even as he looked thoughtfully around the courtyard. ”I suppose we shall need to hold a few joined training exercises with the other divisions to ensure our teamwork is up to snuff. Captain, do you know what division we will be paired with?” Tenzen inquired, even as he began pacing while he reviewed the best form of training.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Early Afternoon, 7th Division's Barracks, Courtyard

Hironobu once again gave a rather nervous smile. "Now, now no need to jump into lock down Tenzen, hehehe." Hironobu spoke trying to keep a calm facade. "Well," Hironobu placing on a little more serious face, he held on to his chin on contemplation, "I suppose having their Zanpakutos on them is a good idea." Hironobu continued to ponder. "I suppose if we had to double patrols it would be best made at night, since a lot of these attacks occur during the evening hours." Hironobu more or less just giving input not really orders.

"I would say is what best is to inform them to be on guard, b-but!" Hironobu quickly stopping himself, "Don't get them to fired up, placing unnecessary stress may in fact bring our men at disadvantage if a fight does happen." Hironobu spoke quickly waving his hands so Tenzen doesn't blow up like a siren. "Just, break it to them calmly, I don't want our men to have a meltdown." Hironobu continued to give a silly smile. "As for your last question, well I wish I could answer that one." Hironobu rubbed his head and gave a rather laid back expression. "Truth is Captain Ryuuzen didn't assign pairs if I'm not mistaken." "So I guess it's up to us to decide who we work with." Hironobu continued to ponder suggestions. "We could work with Eleventh Division, I'm sure you can get some old buddies from their to work with us," Hironobu paused, "I mean after all you worked with them before coming to my division, and I'm sure their men can get us up to snuff." Hironobu chuckled.

"If that doesn't work I guess I can see if I have anymore connections with Division Nine, see if they would work with us." Hironobu spoke. "Any of those Divisions suit your fancy or did you have a better partner in mind?" Hironobu asked, wondering what Kuromori's opinion would be.

Kuromori Tenzen – 7th Division Lieutenant

Early afternoon, 7th Division’s Barracks, Courtyard

Tenzen nodded furiously as captain Hironobu gave his views on Tenzen’s suggested measures. He only absentmindedly noted that he had left his own Zanpakuto in his office, he nodded once to himself as he reminded himself that he had to keep it with him from now on. As Hironobu was talking Tenzen was taking mental notes and expanding his planned strategy should it come to the inevitable all-out battle with all Hollows in existence. Because that was bound to happen, right? It wasn’t until Hironobu mentioned that getting to fired up and stressed could only be a disadvantage that he realized that he was getting too far ahead of the current situation. He took a deep breath and relaxed some, before focusing on his captain again. It was better to focus on the current situation for now and leave the long-term planning to the Captain-commander and the other captains.

When Hironobu brought up the 11th division Tenzen frowned a little. ”I’m not sure they’d be the best fit for us, or any other division for that matter. They’re not exactly team players and I fear they might end up getting into fights with the men in our division.” Tenzen said, somewhat hesitantly, clearly uncomfortable speaking negatively about another division like that. He scratched the top of his head as he was thinking, with enough passion to make it seem he believed doing so would somehow make his brain work faster. ”Working with the 9th division might be a good idea. They are the first line of defence for soul society after all, but perhaps teaming them up with the 4th division to ensure the medics are well protected might be the safer option.” Tenzen continued even as he frowned, easily giving his opinion on the possibilities for partnerships amongst the divisions. ”That said, we should certainly ask the 9th division to inform us in detail on strong points and effective patrol routes.” Tenzen nodded again, his brow now so frowned his eyebrows were almost touching. ”Perhaps joining with Captain Yang or Ryu is an option as well. Other than that perhaps the 5th division would be a good idea. They have many skilled all-rounders, which would supplement our own division well, I suppose.” Tenzen said, finally releasing the immense pressure he was putting on his brow as he looked at his captain to see what his reaction to his suggestions would be.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Early Afternoon, 7th Division Barracks, Courtyard

Hironobu stood there in contemplation. Tenzen made some excellent points with all of the Divisions mentioned. He was unsure which one would work best with their men. This is coming to a point where Hironobu wished he spent a little more time getting to know them personally. He knows their men are very well-conditioned, the times he stumbled upon practice they all did an adamant job. This is of course thanks, largely in part of Tenzen here. Still he doesn't quite know well enough their temperament. Seeing this as a bit of a problem he considered asking Tenzen.

"Well all of those are excellent points and I'm sure any one of them would be a joy, I'm sure." The Hironobu paused as he looked around, "But I'm not quite sure about ourselves." "You see I believe for a partnership to truly work, we all have to coincide peacefully." "I don't want a lot of inter fighting and dissent." "So, you spend a lot more time with our men than I, so can you tell me what their general temperament is." Hironobu asked. "I have a general idea of what the other Divisions are like, thought I can't claim to be an expert at all." "But having some good insight on our own could help me make the best decision for all." "So mind helping me out here?" Hironobu asked Tenzen. He awaited his response.

Tenzen nodded even as his entire body seemed to swell with pride that his captain would ask for his opinion on the matter. He gave his answer a few moments of thought, for once not rushing headlong into matters. ”Sir! I believe the men and women of our division are loyal and hardworking and take pride in being Shinigami! On a more personal level I can personally say that they are sincere and unpretentious.” As he finished his sentence he looked away from his captain a little, as if unsure on what to say next, before he looked at his captain again, a kind smile on his face. ”I also believe that the captain’s love of peace and kindness has rubbed off on our men. No one in our division would start a fight for no reason and I believe most believe strongly in showing kindness and compassion to others.”

He then turned back to a moment of reflection, as he reviewed the many, many, training sessions he had. He eventually looked back up, continuing his review of what Tenzen believed the division to be like. ”As for combat strength, we have a large variety of specialities in our divisions. But I’ve been trying to train them all in the basics of all forms of combat, so I suppose most of the men would be considered all-rounders.” He nodded once, as much to himself as to his captain, before he continued. ”So in terms of combat capability, our division would mix well with most other divisions. At least, I think.” He said, trying and failing to hide the pride in both his voice and expression as he described the combat skills of division 7.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Afternoon, Human world

Magatsu sighed softly, even as the giant Menos Grande prepared to fire a cero in his direction. Sounds of battle were reaching his ears from all around him, even as the 11th division was working hard to try and destroy the group of Hollows that had appeared. Even as the cero was fired in his direction, he kept his cold regard focused on the Menos Grande behind it. When the cero was about to hit him, he used Shunpo to move around and towards the Menos Grande, uncaring that now that he had dodged it, the cero now blasted its way through Hollow and Shinigami alike. He moved to the side of the Gillian and cut it, before moving to the other side in an instant and doing the same. The very next moment it was as if the Menos had been cut in half horizontally, and Magatsu landed back on the ground to review the scene.

Many of the slain Hollows had already disappeared, leaving only the bodies of wounded and dead Shinigami behind. Idiots, one and all. He shook his head slightly as he walked through the battleground, now settling even as the cries of the wounded replaced the sounds of battle. He received a few glares from some of the men under his command, but Magatsu paid them no heed. If they wanted to blame him for the death of their comrades then that was their business. No hair off his back. Magatsu didn’t bother to give orders, didn’t bother to formulate a battle plan, didn’t bother to protect those under his command. This was a dog eat dog world and the weak got eaten first. It was not his fault that those who died here were simply too weak to hang on to their pathetic lives.

Those of his squad that remained either unwounded or got away with a few scratches began picking up their fallen friends. Now that the dust had settled he saw of the men that had come with him, more than half were still standing. With a soft grunt he turned to open the portal to Seireitei. His cold eyes filled up with some anger as he suddenly remembered captain Hironobu coming to him and informing him of the captains meeting. Magatsu had blown it off, uninterested in whatever new business might have caught the attention of those idiots. But now he admitted to some interest. A Menos Grande showing up in the human world was a rare occasion indeed. He made a mental note to seek out someone to inform him of what had been discussed during the meeting as he stepped through the portal and made his way to Seireitei.
