"Death stalks us all... You should meet him with sword in hand."

a character in “Bleach: Burning Dawn”, as played by Binsetsu

Description

Kenpachi Magatsu
Image

Name: Kenpachi Magatsu
Age: Early to mid twenties.

Appearance: Magatsu is a little short, standing at 5”7 and has an athletic build. He keeps the lower part of his face hidden beneath a mask whenever he is in public, making his appearance mostly a mystery to others. What can be seen is a pair of cold grey eyes, which betray no emotion, and his wild spiked hair, which sticks out to all sides. His expression also rarely changes, giving others the impression Magatsu is always sizing them up with his cold eyes, as if he were planning to kill them.

Abilities: He has no skill whatsoever in Kidō. Although he has some skill in Hakuda, it is highly unrefined, making him more of a brawler than a trained fighter. He is more skilled in Hohō and very fast, but has yet to master some of the more advanced techniques. Instead, Magatsu focuses almost entirely on Zanjutsu, having mastered every aspect of it, making him one of the most skilled sword fighters in soul society.

Division: 11

Rank: Captain

Zanpakuto: 静粛墓場 (Seishoku Hakaba / Silent Graveyard). In its basic form the sword is mostly unadorned, with only a blood red grip and sageo wrapped around the scabbard.

Shikai: In its Shikai form Seishoku Hakaba changes drastically, becoming a double bladed sword, with a bamboo grip and no cross guard to speak off.

一つ墓石 (Hitotsu Boseki / One Gravestone): This of ability of Seishoku Hakaba’s shikai form allows its wielder to summon Seishoku Hakaba from wherever it might be, bringing it to its wielder’s side almost instantly.

二つ墓石 (Futatsu Boseki / Two Gravestones): This of ability of Seishoku Hakaba’s shikai form allows its wielder to split Seishoku Hakaba into two separate swords whenever the wielder so desires.

墓地の音 (Hakaba no Oto / Sound of the Graveyard): This ability of Seishoku Hakaba’s shikai form is the ability to nearly completely hide it’s wielder. It muffles all the sounds its wielder might make and makes its wielder’s reiatsu extremely hard to detect, making it a mostly assassination based ability.

Bankai: 静粛墓場の主 (Seishoku Hakaba no Nushi / Master of the Silent Graveyard). When Magatsu releases his Bankai the Shikai form of Seishoku Hakaba disappears and a large number of swords, similar to Seishoku Hakaba before it is released, rain from the skies and land in the ground with the grip facing upwards. Although Magatsu can use all of these swords at will, any other person who would attempt to pick one of the swords up would find his hands simply passing through the sword as if nothing where there.

墓地の沈黙 (Hakaba no Chinmoku / Silence of the Graveyard): This ability of Seishoku Hakaba’s Bankai form allows its wielder to temporarily hide the wielder from all senses, essentially becoming completely undetectable in any way for a few moments. This ability can’t be used in conjunction with any of Seishoku Hakaba’s other abilities.

墓場の危惧 (Hakaba no Kigu / Fear of the Graveyard): This ability of Seishoku Hakaba’s Bankai form allows its wielder to revert the blade of the sword they wield to an ethereal form and back to a solid form at will, allowing the wielder to let the blade pass through defences before cutting at weak spots.

墓場の妖魔 (Hakaba no Youma / Ghost of the Graveyard): One of the more fearsome abilities of Seishoku Hakaba’s Bankai form, as it allows its wielder to travel instantly to any of the swords created by the Bankai.

Release Command: 黙り込め, 静粛墓地. (Tamarikome, Seishoku Hakaba. / Sink into silence, Silent Graveyard.)

Personality

Magatsu is a fairly mysterious person. Abnormally silent, he only speaks when he absolutely needs too and even then he is extremely brief. He always wears a mask over the lower side of his face and rarely shows any form of emotion. He doesn’t shy away from violence or killing others, although expected from a member of the 11th Division, when this nonplussed attitude to such things is coupled with his cold exterior might lead others to consider him a ruthless murdered with no regard for others.

They would not be very far from the truth, as Magatsu cares little for the lives of those who would call him their ally. In fact, even the lives of the men and women under his command mean very little to Magatsu. Magatsu cares only for one thing and that is fighting. Although he isn’t one to openly challenge other members of the Gotei 13 to fights for no reason and prefers to keep his distance as much as possible, he is usually the first to jump at the chance to attack enemies of Soul Society.

History

Magatsu can remember nothing of his live before coming to Soul Society and he doesn’t care either. He grew up in the most outer sections of Rukongai, where he established his reputation as a ruthless killer. In the time he was there he coated the very walls of the outskirts of Rukongai in blood, hunting all who dwelled there and killing them, rarely in a fair fight. Magatsu gained the nickname of Ghost of Rukongai for his habit of picking off the many murderers that dwelled there in the dead of night, sneaking into their homes just to kill them for imagined slights. The other residents were only freed from Magatsu when a Shinigami came to the outskirts and defeated Magatsu in combat, dragging him back to Seireitei to forcibly have him join the academy.

In the Academy Magatsu learned to control his murderous impulses and excelled once he did. His potential was recognized here and he quickly graduated and joined the 2nd division of the Gotei 13. In the 2nd division he truly shined, his violent nature and skills at assassinations seemed to make him the perfect fit for the 2nd division and it was in no time he rose through the ranks, earning the rank of Lieutenant in near record time. But eventually his desire for bloodshed saw him coming into conflict with the other members of the division. But it wasn’t until Magatsu killed another member of his division in a duel that things between Magatsu and the other members of the division really heated up. Already unpopular, his killing of another Shinigami just made his squad mates distrust him further. Although the central 46 was approached in the hope they would punish Magatsu, they instead gave him a slap on the wrist and had him transferred to the 11th division.

In the 11th division Magatsu had finally found his people. Filled with battle-crazy warriors like him he quickly fit in and became respected as their Lieutenant for his strength and skill. Things were good for a time. But eventually Magatsu wanted more. He began seeking out increasingly more dangerous opponents in order to push himself. His strategy seemed to have paid off as he eventually unleashed his Bankai, which many would say marked the day Magatsu would rise to become captain. With this new power in his hands, Magatsu began arguing with his captain more and more, defying him every chance he got. Eventually the tension between the two came to a breaking point and Magatsu challenged his captain for his position as captain of the 11th division. The fight between the two is said to have lasted for a full day and to have nearly levelled the entirety of the 11th division’s barracks. But Magatsu came out on top and took the position of captain of the 11th division. Although it was not known to Magatsu before he started the fight, upon defeating the previous captain he also took the name of Kenpachi upon himself, as when he defeated the former captain, he also defeated the previous Kenpachi, who passed the name on to Magatsu.

His reign as captain is a mostly unpopular one. The previous captain was popular amongst the members of the 11th division and Magatsu’s Zanpakto’s abilities being very similar to Kido abilities have only served to make him even more unpopular. But he isn’t just unpopular amongst the members of his own division. His quiet and distant nature and reputation as a murderer have made him unpopular amongst the other divisions as well.

So begins...

Kuromori Tenzen – 7th Division Lieutenant

Early afternoon, 7th Division’s Barracks, Courtyard

Tenzen nodded even as his entire body seemed to swell with pride that his captain would ask for his opinion on the matter. He gave his answer a few moments of thought, for once not rushing headlong into matters. ”Sir! I believe the men and women of our division are loyal and hardworking and take pride in being Shinigami! On a more personal level I can personally say that they are sincere and unpretentious.” As he finished his sentence he looked away from his captain a little, as if unsure on what to say next, before he looked at his captain again, a kind smile on his face. ”I also believe that the captain’s love of peace and kindness has rubbed off on our men. No one in our division would start a fight for no reason and I believe most believe strongly in showing kindness and compassion to others.”

He then turned back to a moment of reflection, as he reviewed the many, many, training sessions he had. He eventually looked back up, continuing his review of what Tenzen believed the division to be like. ”As for combat strength, we have a large variety of specialities in our divisions. But I’ve been trying to train them all in the basics of all forms of combat, so I suppose most of the men would be considered all-rounders.” He nodded once, as much to himself as to his captain, before he continued. ”So in terms of combat capability, our division would mix well with most other divisions. At least, I think.” He said, trying and failing to hide the pride in both his voice and expression as he described the combat skills of division 7.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Afternoon, Human world

Magatsu sighed softly, even as the giant Menos Grande prepared to fire a cero in his direction. Sounds of battle were reaching his ears from all around him, even as the 11th division was working hard to try and destroy the group of Hollows that had appeared. Even as the cero was fired in his direction, he kept his cold regard focused on the Menos Grande behind it. When the cero was about to hit him, he used Shunpo to move around and towards the Menos Grande, uncaring that now that he had dodged it, the cero now blasted its way through Hollow and Shinigami alike. He moved to the side of the Gillian and cut it, before moving to the other side in an instant and doing the same. The very next moment it was as if the Menos had been cut in half horizontally, and Magatsu landed back on the ground to review the scene.

Many of the slain Hollows had already disappeared, leaving only the bodies of wounded and dead Shinigami behind. Idiots, one and all. He shook his head slightly as he walked through the battleground, now settling even as the cries of the wounded replaced the sounds of battle. He received a few glares from some of the men under his command, but Magatsu paid them no heed. If they wanted to blame him for the death of their comrades then that was their business. No hair off his back. Magatsu didn’t bother to give orders, didn’t bother to formulate a battle plan, didn’t bother to protect those under his command. This was a dog eat dog world and the weak got eaten first. It was not his fault that those who died here were simply too weak to hang on to their pathetic lives.

Those of his squad that remained either unwounded or got away with a few scratches began picking up their fallen friends. Now that the dust had settled he saw of the men that had come with him, more than half were still standing. With a soft grunt he turned to open the portal to Seireitei. His cold eyes filled up with some anger as he suddenly remembered captain Hironobu coming to him and informing him of the captains meeting. Magatsu had blown it off, uninterested in whatever new business might have caught the attention of those idiots. But now he admitted to some interest. A Menos Grande showing up in the human world was a rare occasion indeed. He made a mental note to seek out someone to inform him of what had been discussed during the meeting as he stepped through the portal and made his way to Seireitei.

Kuromori Tenzen – 7th Division Lieutenant

Afternoon, 7th Division’s Barracks, Courtyard

Tenzen remained quiet as his captain seemed to be contemplating the multitude of options. Tenzen would be the first to admit his captain had the tendency to be absent, but when push came to shove, he knew the captain would make the right decisions. Tenzen nodded quietly to himself. He didn’t eny captain Hironobu for his job, surely this decision was one of the lighter ones a captain had to make. No he didn’t envy the captain at all, to shoulder all that responsibility by oneself could be no easy task and, Tenzen suddenly realized, perhaps one of the reasons his captain was absent so often. Or maybe he was overthinking things again, he couldn’t be sure. All he knew is that his captain would make the right decision.

Once captain Hironobu spoke up again Tenzen snapped out of his own contemplation and looked at his captain again. The captain’s instructions were clear. There was no way they could not be misunderstood. So Tenzen bowed once, before responding. ”Yes sir! I’ll get the men up to speed! Shall I get call for some form of meeting so you can address the men personally once all the decisions have been made?”

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Afternoon, 11th Division Barracks, Captain’s Office

Magatsu had returned to Seireitei some time ago and sought out one of the captains to get some answers. He had been somewhat relieved when the captain had informed him of what had happened out of his own violation. Speaking was such a drag, especially with the peaceful creatures of the Gotei 13. They stewed in their peace and it made weak, pathetic. That was the only explanation Magatsu could come to once he heard that the Captain-commander himself was worried. What massive spiritual power? Who cared? No one with power should. They should face it with sword in hand and cut it down, or be cut down. Those were the only options. Preparing for it were useless. One should always be prepared to face ones death. He had been nearly fuming as he walked back to the 11th division’s barracks, and even lying down in his office had done little to quench his anger.

Pathetic. That was the only word he had for this situation. Teaming up with others? Never face these things alone? Truly pathetic. But the idea of a uniquely powerful creature had brought a smile to Magatsu’s face as he lay in his office. Perhaps he had finally found something worth fighting… worth killing. Or perhaps this creature was the one that finally killed Magatsu and if it were powerful enough Magatsu would not resent this creatures victory. Such was the way of life after all, you either kill, or you are killed. Teaming up with other divisions was useless. Magatsu gave the other divisions a few moments of thought, trying to decide which one would be the least useless. He chuckled softly at his own train of thought, what did Magatsu know of the other divisions anyway? And more importantly, why would he care. If they wanted him to team up, then they were out of luck. Magatsu didn’t feel like playing nice, all he wanted was to destroy this powerful being, or be destroyed in the process. He finally went to sleep with a savage grin on his face.

Misama Ooka,

Hueco Mundo

Ooka walked through the thick ash like deserts of Hueco Mundo. He had been here for some time now and he was finally getting used to the dreary and depressing place. And perhaps more importantly, it was getting used to him. Hollows and Arrancar had finally started falling in line. Finally started to realize that they could do nothing to stand against the coming storm and were better off submitting to it. Standing in its way only delivered annihilation, of course, the inhabitants of Hueco Mundo might be slow, but they understood that much. But now there was a new problem. Some of his subordinates had disappeared. Without a trace too, which is what bothered Ooka the most. This was his realm. The first of the three and he would accept no defiance to his rule. No, this upstart would be found.

So he walked. He walked through dunes of ash, past calcified trees, past large rocks proving home to the more cowardly Hollows. He walked and all parted before him. No Hollow dared to defy him. None dared to even address him, for they knew they were weak, pathetic and an offense to his sense. To stand in his way was to invite death, so they parted. And so he walked, ever onward. Oh this one was clever, his Reiatsu hidden extremely well. Had it been anyone else, they might not have found that slight sniff, that miniscule oddness that proved a bread crumb trail straight for this trespasser. Had it been anyone but Ooka, this upstart would have gone undetected for many years more. Or so Ooka believed. But he had yet to find anything that proved otherwise.

As he approached the makeshift lab, he didn’t bother hiding his Reiatsu. He didn’t flaunt it either, but there was no point in hiding it. If this creature was so cautious as to hide itself, it would surely notice any oddities heading its way. So he didn’t do either. A stance of indifference, which reflected how he felt about this creature. So he stood on the edge of the makeshift lab, letting his Reiatsu flow naturally, sure the creature would sense it. He stood and waited. Waiting for whatever rat had hidden itself away here.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

Magatsu walked through the streets of Soul Society. He had been sleeping for a long time. His joints were stiff. A brisk walk through the streets of Seireitei would ease that some. But that wasn´t why he had gone on this walk. He had hoped to find someone slacking off. Slacking off meant he had a good reason to beat them. All this waiting for the Captain-commander’s so called powerful enemy was getting frustrating. So he needed to relieve some stress. Some lazy half-wit would serve for now. But soon he might have to turn his attention to bigger prey. Maybe if he went to the Human world he could get some Hollow to come out. Maybe even an Arrancar. Now there’d be something worth killing. And who knew, maybe if he killed enough of those the Captain-commander’s powerful enemy would come scurrying out the woodworks, ready to be cut into pieces like his Arrancar friends. His eyes narrowed and a savage grin appeared on his features as he saw the first fool slacking off, leaning against the wall drinking sake. Oh, this wouldn’t do. Punishment was in order. His grin grew even wider and fire grew in his eyes as he marched straight for the slacker, even as he moved his hand to his Zanpakutou.

Kuromori Tenzen – 7th Division Lieutenant

Late Afternoon, 7th Division’s Barracks, Courtyard

Tenzen bowed to his captain as he prepared to take his leave and get ready for some rest. ”Yes sir! Sleep well!” He nearly shouted, excitement about the coming few days building within him. Tenzen had much to do! Training schedules would have to be adjusted to compensate for the new patrol routes, new forms of training would have to be implemented to ensure the other division would get used to working with the 7th division. Busy, busy, busy! He smiled a wide smile as he marched for his office, new training routines already building. Yes. They would have to prepare and prepare well, there was no other choice. Not being prepared would only get everyone killed and Tenzen wouldn’t have that on his conscience.

Gardino and his Fracción

Gardino only smirked as he saw the Captain drop to his knees as he then laughed. "Despite how powerful you are, your just like everyone else," He spoke as he paused, "Hard on the outside but soft on the inside." He merely laughed at the rather pathetic display, but he had to agree, he was glad it lasted awhile. "Fine then, I'll take my leave, after all I have something to brag about to the boys back home!" He spoke as he couldn't stop grinning. He then used Sonido as he appeared overhead of the entire battlefield. "GANCÓCHO, ZACCORICO!" He shouted. "WE'RE LEAVING!" He shouted as he opened the Garganta.

Zaccorico was enjoying watching Gancócho and the girl go at it, but then he perked up when Gardino called. He used Sonido and appeared beside him. "Of course, what else would expect of my Zanpakuto?" He spoke rather haughty. Gancócho then looked up, "Well it seems I must bid you adieu." He spoke as he turned his head to her. He then performed Sonido and returned to Gardino. "Resuerrcción huh?"Gardino spoke as he smirked. He then turned his attention to the Captains. "SEE YA LATER LAMEASSES!" He shouted. "Next time I might play for keeps!" He then laughed maniacally as the Garganta began to close down of them. Soon the apparent rip in space itself closed and the Three Arrancar disappeared, back to Hueco Mundo.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Captain's Quarters, 7th Division's Barracks, The Seireitei

The first time in a while, Hironobu managed to have a decent night's sleep. So much in fact he woke up fresh that morning. He was glad to see the sun shining and he felt fantastic. Hironobu prepared to take a bath and then it would be down to business. The business, find their partner. Hironobu walked to the baths and managed to relax, after all the Nightmares seemed to stop. He was only glad to see how happy everyone appeared to be. His Division seemed relaxed as well, probably because of his address. In the meantime he finished up and prepared to dress himself as he returned to his room in his robe.

"Let's see who the lucky Captain is." He whimsically spoke as he dressed in his full Shinigami garb, with Kimiki at his waist. He then bid good morning to some of his men, who were rather surprised to see their Captain. He soon wandered the streets of the Seireitei. Thinking of his options that was until he saw Captain Magatsu walking rather menacingly towards another Shinigami. This didn't look good. It wasn't his place to get involved but he at least decided to give the poor guy a break. After all, nothing is worse than being approached by someone with the name of Kenpachi. He then casually called out, "Captain Magatsu!" "Good Morning!" He then placed his palm up in a hello as he gave a friendly laugh and a smile.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

Magatsu’s gaze shifted slowly, deliberately from his would be victim to the man who had bid him a good morning. His body slowly turned in conjunction with his eyes, until they finally settled on the man. He didn’t bother to respond just yet, inside, he let his eyes size him up, the fire of his anger still not doused. A captain, but which one? He never bothered to remember them all, puny, pacifistic cowards as most of them were. But a captain showing up was at least enough to draw his ire away from the hapless Shinigami, who, now that he had noticed Magatsu approaching him, was doing his best to scurry away unnoticed. At the same time Magatsu finished sizing the other captain up, his savage grin slowly fading. What did this one want with him. He had never been on friendly terms with any of them, so why bother with senseless greetings. Finally he spoke up, his voice barely a whisper. Were it not for the relative quiet of the street they were on, it would have gone unnoticed, unheard by all. ”What?” Was his curt reply, venomous annoyance dripping from the word like poison.

Misama Ooka,

Hueco Mundo, Ratigan´s Lab

Ooka observed the strange man as he emerged from his lair and spoke of his experiments. Ooka simply observed the man as he spoke, eyes scanning him and his lab. Even when he was offered water and shown that it was safe he didn´t respond just yet, instead simply observing the man. Could this one be of use? He certainly possessed a certain power if he could take down Arrancar. And a healer no less, though he wondered at the veracity of such a statement. His grin widened slightly as he tipped his straw hat to the man and finally spoke. ”Those were some of my subordinates you took. But they matter little to me, their deaths only showed their weakness.” He said in a calm voice, something approaching a kind smile forming on his features. He made no mention of the water and made no moves to accept it. The fact the man felt the need to prove it was safe was suspicious in and of itself. No, better to leave the water where it stood. ”But you are different, are you not? Strong, with power surpassing that of my former subordinates. It just so happens to be I am looking for new ones to replace the ones you took. I believe you will do nicely.” He smiled again, a habit really, when speaking to prospective subordinates, one he never managed to shake after his time in Soul Society. ”But your experiments interest me. I don’t think I want you to stop them, instead, I will ask you move your lab to Las Noches and continue there. I’m sure there are many unruly and interesting specimens in Hueco Mundo, the Living World and of course, Soul Society.” He said, his kind smile suddenly perverted into something vicious, as a glint of malice sparked in his eyes.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

Hironobu noticed the rather agitated reply from the 11th Division Captain and Hironobu still only smiled. "Oh just saying good morning to a fellow captain, being neighborly." He spoke explaining himself. He had a feeling this wasn't going to go to well. Perhaps he shouldn't have stuck his neck out, but he couldn't let the pour guy get mauled. Hironobu had a better chance of survival than he did. Still, he had no interest in any aggression, perhaps Magatsu will just leave a bit disgruntled. Hopefully....maybe. He then managed to give only a nervous laugh.

He almost wished he had Kuromori with him. Standing here alone with the Captain was kind of unnerving, even for him. Still he will just continue to be friendly. If he shows he means no harm, perhaps he will ignore him. He seems to ignore everyone else, why not him? Perhaps he should just leave, but that may cause more problems than solve them. Besides that would be rude and if he is going to offend anyone, it won't be Magatsu. He just sort of stood there waiting for any possible wrath he may suffer.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

At Hironobu´s reply Magatsu only growled slightly. A neighbourly greeting? Useless. As expected, the other captains were spineless cowards who leaned on their ‘friends’ like crutches, unable to stand on their own two feet. Their shaking knees would crumble beneath them and they’d stare dumbfounded as fear rooted deep in their minds. They could only await death, hoping their friends would be there to share a tear when it came. Pathetic. This captain was not worth his time. With a grunt he turned back to where the lax guard had been standing. His eyes narrowed as he realized the man was gone, taking his bottle of sake with him. Magatsu stood there, for a few moments, simply staring at the empty spot where the guard had stood. Not only did he neglect his duty, now he had left his post. That was an offence worthy of execution, no doubt. If only he could remember the Shinigami’s face.

With another grunt he turned back to captain Hironobu, the fire in his eyes now fanned to a full blown inferno. He moved his left hand to his Zanpakutou, letting it rest there as he spoke. ”You took my prey.” His voice had risen above the slight whisper. And when it did a certain rasp and strange pronunciation became obvious. He glared at Hironobu, sizing him up a second time. Perhaps he should take out his anger on this one, instead. Would the Captain-commander let him off easy if he trashed another captain? Maybe not. But he could at least test this one’s mettle a little. His grin grew slightly wider underneath his mask as he took a few steps towards captain Hironobu, left hand still resting on the grip of his Zanpakutou.

Misama Ooka,

Hueco Mundo, Ratigan´s Lab

Ooka chuckled slightly at the reply of the strange man. He had not even asked for introductions. He was likely a pragmatic man, which was good. The pragmatic make for good subordinates. None of that fighting with honour. Battles were meant to be won, one way or the other. He nodded to the man and returned to Las Noches. When he was there he signalled a few of the Hollow that hung around to begin the construction of a lab in the bottom of the palace and to begin a search for Quincy, Fullbring users and Vaisored. He wasn´t just going to bring them to the strange scientist of course, but knowing where they are would be a start. He headed up to the throne room and sat on his throne, hands folded in his lap. Things were going well, the inhabitants of Hueco Mundo were falling in line. It would be time to start the next step soon. He grinned as he went over the possibilities.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

He only continued to give a nervous laugh. Well this is going swimmingly. He thought. "Well calling them 'prey' is a bit derogatory, don't cha'ya think?" He said as he gave a side ways smile. He was getting nearer and Hironobu's first reaction was to gently stepped back. "Of course what am I saying right?" "Heh, it's not like he was one of my own anyway." He spoke as he gave a laugh and rubbed the back of his head. Alright, Magatsu no need to act testy, we can just walk away and act like none of this ever happened. He continued to think. Of course Magatsu wasn't going to do that. Perhaps if he keeps on acting silly he will leave.

He can't possibly find him worthy of his time. He must be busy with other things, eventually he will get bored. He may be aggressive but if he doesn't act aggressive, he will lose interest. At least he hoped or perhaps he should act absentminded. "Hm, I wonder what I should eat for lunch today." He said all of a sudden. "I must say I feel hungry how about you?" "Of course I don't even know if I have the time to do so." "So busy with Captain's duties and stuff." "Like uh, finding a partner division for mine, I bet that's something your wondering too." Hironobu kept on chattering. Hopefully this deters him.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

Magatsu continued glaring at the other captain. He was covering himself now. Squirming, like all prey did. He was about to take another step forward, seeing how far he push the little animal into a corner before he bit back, when captain Hironobu suddenly began speaking of food. Magatu´s eyes widened slightly and for a moment he couldn´t hide his surprise. He growled slightly, having lost his composure and focus because of some random words was embarrassing. He moved his hand away from his Zanpakutou and glowered at Hironobu. Perhaps this captain was cleverer than he thought. Had it been his intention to take Magatsu by surprise. He doubted it, but there was always that possibility. Words could be as deadly in a fight as swords after all. Make your prey lose its composure, have it attack you stupid and angry, those were viable ways to defeat your opponent. Perhaps this one was a master of such techniques. Probably not, but maybe…

He continued glaring at the other captain even as Hironobu continued. He still seemed off guard, taken by surprise, but that could be a trick. No, he wouldn´t wet his blade this day. But perhaps exchanging a few words with this one might give him a better sense of his abilities. After all, if words were his weapon, it´d become clear through conversation. When Hironobu finished rambling, Magatsu answered, his voice again barely above a whisper. ”I don’t care. Partner or no partner, all will fall to my blade.” He said, with no pride or arrogance filling his voice, as if he were simply stating a fact that was obvious to all. ”And you shouldn’t care either, partners make you weak.” He added, but didn’t bother explaining his view on that particular matter.

"I see." He responded, "Prefer to carve your own path huh?" "I respect that." He commented. "Whether partners makes you weak or not however, remains to be seen my friend." "How can you have such sound knowledge if you don't even attempt to make partners?" Hironobu asked. He didn't exactly expect Magatsu to respond, but his use of words is derailing him for the moment. Perhaps if he could keep light conversation he may lose focus and be off on his less than merry way. Still, he could be wrong and Magatsu here could be an excellent conversationalist, but prefers the method of actions speak louder than words.

All of this is just broad speculation, he may have to book it and use Shunpo when he is most distracted. Or when Hironobu sees an opportunity to lose him. He would rather avoid being so rude, but he has no interest in an aggressive pastime either. For now lets just see how long he can hold out with wording. If things do go south, he is going to have to forgo common courtesy and use Shunpo. He awaited to see Magatsu's reaction.

Kai Ryuuzen

After they finish up his treatment Kai stood there were quite abit of scars but they were light compared to the one on his back "ok then off to my quaters for some rest" he said walking off when he saw two captains together "Magatsu, Wantanabe how are you two fairing!" he called out walking up to the two

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

Magatsu snorted as Hironobu replied. Had he somehow mistaken his own sudden chattiness as an invitation? He had only intended to see what would happen if he spoke to this captain. And know he knew. The very fact that he considered comrades to be a boon said enough of the man’s power. Worthless, all of them. He should have known there wasn’t a lot of worthy prey within the Gotei 13. Magatsu turned and was about to walk away when his eyes met those of captain-commander Kai Ryuuzen.

Magatsu narrowed his eyes slightly as he sized the new arrival up. His eyes scanning him, seeking openings in his stance. He sought the weak spot as much by nature as he did because of a desire to fight. It was the way of the predator, you sought the weakness and bit down, or fall to the wayside unable to keep up with the better hunters. Magatsu shot an annoyed glance back at captain Hironobu, as if he had something to do with this new forced social encounter. He then turned his attention back to Kai. ”Ryuuzen.” He said by what could only be assumed a way of greeting. Though one could not be blamed if they didn’t notice that, the single word was not accompanied by any form of other social etiquette.

Misama Ooka,

Las Noches

Ooka walked the white sands of Hueco Mundo, straying just outside the walls of Las Noches. He had sensed something here, a faint trace of something. Of power. Had a powerful Hollow or Arrancar somehow escaped his notice? That would not do. The denizens of Hueco Mundo were almost entirely subjugated, even if they didn’t know it themselves yet. He walked the sands until he came across a black spot of the otherwise pristine white sand. With a downward glance Ooka reflected on the beauty of the sudden change in the otherwise monotone scenery. It didn’t matter that such beauty was brought forth by the death of others, the most beautiful things often were.

He kneeled by the black spot and ran his fingers through it. He could still feel some of the wetness, this had been recent. Was this a deliberate attack on his fortress? Or was this simply the instinct of Hollows, ever seeking to devour one another? Perhaps both. But he knew one thing for certain, whoever did this was powerful. But power needs a leash, an even more powerful hand to guide it, lest it devours itself. He stood back up, a savage grin on his face. This one would have to be reined in as well. Brought into the fold, where its savagery might be better directed. Directed at the true foes. Yes, this one would have to aimed towards the Shinigami as well.

He closed his eyes and extended his senses, picking up the every so faint traces of Reiatsu. With a grin he set of in pursuit, knowing he would happen upon whoever destroyed the Hollows of Las Noches sooner or later.

Hironobu Watanabe-7th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

"Oh Captain Ryuuzen!" "Good Morning!" He spoke giving a surprised laugh as he placed his palm up in a hello. "Doing just fine this morning!" He spoke happily. He was surprised to see the Captain-Commander but was happy he appeared. Luckily his appearance saved him from, at least, Magatsu's undivided attention. Perhaps he could focus his look of bloodlust towards him. Wait, what a terrible thought, he didn't want that upon him. He didn't even want it on a lower rank than themselves. Let alone the Captain-Commander himself. A good natured man like him doesn't deserve that, so the very least he could keep the heat off of him.

He then shot a glare at him that he replied with an embarrassed laugh. Then he spoke towards Ryuuzen giving him a pretty dead tone with him. "So uh, Captain-Commander!" "How was your morning, by the way you look it seems you've just came out of a meat grinder." He spoke at his attempt of making a joke. He noticed that Magatsu was about to leave, perhaps all of this social interaction will deter him. He seems like the kind of person not suited to crowds. At least he hoped, his behavior would suggest as much. Still we would have to see, he does seem interest in the Captain-Commander, does he intend to fight him instead? That wouldn't be wise, well, if Ryuuzen looked healthier. At this moment, he may find an opportunity, er, perhaps he could distract him again, the Captain-Commander doesn't appear to be in the mood for fighting.

Kai

Even though Magatsu seemed intimidating Kai stood there with a small smile on his face along with his arm still in the sling "my day could have gone better anyway just a friendly reminder to keep your guard up you never know what will happen" he said adjusting the strap to his Zanpakuto "if there are any questions you have feel free to ask otherwise i'll see you later"

Misama Ooka,

Hueco Mundo

For a moment the woman’s sudden disappearance and return with a fist had seemed like an attack. Ooka’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly as his fingers twitch in the anticipation of needing to make an counter attack. But it had not been an attack, it had been a diversion. Her fist slammed into the ground and sent dust and white sand flying in all directions around them. So she could think tactically. That was a most welcome sliver of knowledge. He had thought her sheer savagery would force the Shinigami into action, but if she could think during battles she might actually take a few of them down as well. Which was good. No, this one would be needed. Like the doctor, she would be a vital cog in his plan. With a smirk he lifted one finger in the direction of the woman and said a few simple words. ”Hadou #1. Shou.” He regulated his Reiatsu to ensure the basic Hadou would not be too powerful. He had no intentions of hitting her, after all. No he needed to scatter the dust so he could get a clear view of her and so he did. With the dust now forming a circular window, revealing the Arrancar. She had gotten quite a bit away from him.

As Ooka expected, she had been taking it easy earlier. With a single Shunpou he moved out of the dust and shortened the growing distance between him and the girl. Fast indeed. He wasn’t sure he could cover the distance in a single Shunpou. Perhaps he could, but with the woman’s speed she’d be further out even if he tried. He smirked slightly before using a second Shunpou to cover an additional bit of the distance before running himself to cover the rest of the distance. He wondered for a few moments if she just wanted to play tag, or if she was going to test his strength next. For the time being he’d settle on their little game of tag. When he finally covered enough distance he used a turned Shunpou to appear beside the girl. He gave her his most charming smile before he spoke to her. ”As expected of an Arrancar, you are quite fast. I think I like you. Won’t you become my subordinate and crush the Shinigami with me?” He said, his voice easy and calm, despite the speed they were both running at, despite the gravity of a Shinigami stating his intention to wage war on all of Soul Society.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

Magatsu could almost smell the blood on the captain-commander as he approached further. Though perhaps that was simply the obvious signs of the captain-commander having seen a battle recently. A savage grin began forming underneath Magatsu’s mask. Even as he glowered at the captain-commander, with ferocious intent as he addressed him. ”Were they powerful?” A few simple words, though the intent behind them were unmistakable. Captain Hironobu was all but forgotten now, as was the Shinigami he had intended to punish for his laxness. No, any opponent who could do this to the Captain-commander was more important than the potential of another captain. After all, a fight with a fellow captain would be frowned upon, but he could easily slaughter whoever had done this. He’d even be commended for it.

Kai

hearing what he thought was a question Kai looked at Magatsu "yeah they were somewhat powerful at least in my opinion" then his eyes narrowed as he continued to stare "listen Magatsu if your thinking of going off to fight on your own then don't the opponents are not to be taken so lightly" he said returning to his natural form before bowing his head to both the captaians and walking off "as a repeat keep your guard up you never know what will happen"

Misama Ooka,

Hueco Mundo

Ooka’s eyes widened slightly when the woman suddenly stopped and pivoted perfectly to deliver a kick. He had not expected her to turn violently so suddenly and was caught off guard, though none of it showed in his features. In that single instant he realized he wouldn’t be able to dodge it, but some half-hearted kick from an Arrancar was not beyond his abilities to block, so he lifted both his arms, a cocky grin on his face. Only in the single moment before impact did he notice the woman’s aggressively flowing Reiatsu and realise this wasn’t a kick he could get away from unscathed by simply blocking. In that single instant he pushed himself back to divert the energy from the blow, but didn’t manage to avoid it completely and ended up getting launched away. With a graceful flip he landed on both his feet and lifted his head in time to notice the follow up attack, now fast approaching. This time he had been prepared, it was common practice to follow up an attack, after all.

With almost absentminded calm he raised one hand and spoke the words needed to cast a Hadou. ”Hadou #8. Heki.” On the backside of his hand formed a small sphere, that flowed violently with Reiatsu. He smirked slightly as he imagined the following few moves. Should the woman follow through with her kick and have it impact the small sphere of Reiatsu he knew even her kick would be pushed back, throwing her off balance, if only for a moment. But a moment was all that Ooka needed. Even if she’d catch on quickly enough to redirect her kick and avoid the sphere poised to knock her kick back, he’d follow it up with a quick Shunpou to get behind her and say the words for his next Hadou. ” Hadō #33. Sōkatsui.” He’d regulate his Reiatsu output to ensure the blast of blue fiery Reiatsu wouldn’t break through an Arrancar’s Hierro to much and to widen it as much as possible to make it that much harder to dodge.

Kenpachi Magatsu – 11th Division Captain

Seireitei Streets

A soft growl emerged from Magatsu’s throat as the Captain-commander warned him. Perhaps it was only natural he’d be so cowed just from a few scratches. It was the way of the weak after all. But Magatsu would not be intimidated so easily. The stronger they were, the more enjoyable the act of killing them was. That simple. Though he didn’t feel any need to go seek them out himself just yet. If these enemies were truly so powerful, they’d surely start making trouble soon enough. Then Magatsu would strike, laying waste to all enemies in his sight. His savage grin grew slightly wider as he imagined the possibilities. He barely noticed the Captain-commander leaving. He stood there, for a few moments, grinning to himself before turning to Captain Hironobu, giving the shortest of nods, before marching off himself, heading back to his Division’s Barracks.
