Kenpachi Magatsu
Name: Kenpachi Magatsu
Age: Early to mid twenties.
Appearance: Magatsu is a little short, standing at 5â7 and has an athletic build. He keeps the lower part of his face hidden beneath a mask whenever he is in public, making his appearance mostly a mystery to others. What can be seen is a pair of cold grey eyes, which betray no emotion, and his wild spiked hair, which sticks out to all sides. His expression also rarely changes, giving others the impression Magatsu is always sizing them up with his cold eyes, as if he were planning to kill them.
Abilities: He has no skill whatsoever in KidĹ. Although he has some skill in Hakuda, it is highly unrefined, making him more of a brawler than a trained fighter. He is more skilled in HohĹ and very fast, but has yet to master some of the more advanced techniques. Instead, Magatsu focuses almost entirely on Zanjutsu, having mastered every aspect of it, making him one of the most skilled sword fighters in soul society.
Division: 11
Rank: Captain
Zanpakuto: éç˛ĺ˘ĺ ´ (Seishoku Hakaba / Silent Graveyard). In its basic form the
sword is mostly unadorned, with only a blood red grip and sageo wrapped around the scabbard.
Shikai: In its Shikai form Seishoku Hakaba changes drastically, becoming a double bladed sword, with a bamboo grip and no cross guard to speak off.
ä¸ă¤ĺ˘çł (Hitotsu Boseki / One Gravestone): This of ability of Seishoku Hakabaâs shikai form allows its wielder to summon Seishoku Hakaba from wherever it might be, bringing it to its wielderâs side almost instantly.
äşă¤ĺ˘çł (Futatsu Boseki / Two Gravestones): This of ability of Seishoku Hakabaâs shikai form allows its wielder to split Seishoku Hakaba into two separate swords whenever the wielder so desires.
ĺ˘ĺ°ăŽéł (Hakaba no Oto / Sound of the Graveyard): This ability of Seishoku Hakabaâs shikai form is the ability to nearly completely hide itâs wielder. It muffles all the sounds its wielder might make and makes its wielderâs reiatsu extremely hard to detect, making it a mostly assassination based ability.
Bankai: éç˛ĺ˘ĺ ´ăŽä¸ť (Seishoku Hakaba no Nushi / Master of the Silent Graveyard). When Magatsu releases his Bankai the Shikai form of Seishoku Hakaba disappears and a large number of swords, similar to Seishoku Hakaba before it is released, rain from the skies and land in the ground with the grip facing upwards. Although Magatsu can use all of these swords at will, any other person who would attempt to pick one of the swords up would find his hands simply passing through the sword as if nothing where there.
ĺ˘ĺ°ăŽć˛éť (Hakaba no Chinmoku / Silence of the Graveyard): This ability of Seishoku Hakabaâs Bankai form allows its wielder to temporarily hide the wielder from all senses, essentially becoming completely undetectable in any way for a few moments. This ability canât be used in conjunction with any of Seishoku Hakabaâs other abilities.
ĺ˘ĺ ´ăŽĺąć§ (Hakaba no Kigu / Fear of the Graveyard): This ability of Seishoku Hakabaâs Bankai form allows its wielder to revert the blade of the sword they wield to an ethereal form and back to a solid form at will, allowing the wielder to let the blade pass through defences before cutting at weak spots.
ĺ˘ĺ ´ăŽĺŚé (Hakaba no Youma / Ghost of the Graveyard): One of the more fearsome abilities of Seishoku Hakabaâs Bankai form, as it allows its wielder to travel instantly to any of the swords created by the Bankai.
Release Command: éťăčžźă, éç˛ĺ˘ĺ°. (Tamarikome, Seishoku Hakaba. / Sink into silence, Silent Graveyard.)
Magatsu is a fairly mysterious person. Abnormally silent, he only speaks when he absolutely needs too and even then he is extremely brief. He always wears a mask over the lower side of his face and rarely shows any form of emotion. He doesnât shy away from violence or killing others, although expected from a member of the 11th Division, when this nonplussed attitude to such things is coupled with his cold exterior might lead others to consider him a ruthless murdered with no regard for others.
They would not be very far from the truth, as Magatsu cares little for the lives of those who would call him their ally. In fact, even the lives of the men and women under his command mean very little to Magatsu. Magatsu cares only for one thing and that is fighting. Although he isnât one to openly challenge other members of the Gotei 13 to fights for no reason and prefers to keep his distance as much as possible, he is usually the first to jump at the chance to attack enemies of Soul Society.
Magatsu can remember nothing of his live before coming to Soul Society and he doesnât care either. He grew up in the most outer sections of Rukongai, where he established his reputation as a ruthless killer. In the time he was there he coated the very walls of the outskirts of Rukongai in blood, hunting all who dwelled there and killing them, rarely in a fair fight. Magatsu gained the nickname of Ghost of Rukongai for his habit of picking off the many murderers that dwelled there in the dead of night, sneaking into their homes just to kill them for imagined slights. The other residents were only freed from Magatsu when a Shinigami came to the outskirts and defeated Magatsu in combat, dragging him back to Seireitei to forcibly have him join the academy.
In the Academy Magatsu learned to control his murderous impulses and excelled once he did. His potential was recognized here and he quickly graduated and joined the 2nd division of the Gotei 13. In the 2nd division he truly shined, his violent nature and skills at assassinations seemed to make him the perfect fit for the 2nd division and it was in no time he rose through the ranks, earning the rank of Lieutenant in near record time. But eventually his desire for bloodshed saw him coming into conflict with the other members of the division. But it wasnât until Magatsu killed another member of his division in a duel that things between Magatsu and the other members of the division really heated up. Already unpopular, his killing of another Shinigami just made his squad mates distrust him further. Although the central 46 was approached in the hope they would punish Magatsu, they instead gave him a slap on the wrist and had him transferred to the 11th division.
In the 11th division Magatsu had finally found his people. Filled with battle-crazy warriors like him he quickly fit in and became respected as their Lieutenant for his strength and skill. Things were good for a time. But eventually Magatsu wanted more. He began seeking out increasingly more dangerous opponents in order to push himself. His strategy seemed to have paid off as he eventually unleashed his Bankai, which many would say marked the day Magatsu would rise to become captain. With this new power in his hands, Magatsu began arguing with his captain more and more, defying him every chance he got. Eventually the tension between the two came to a breaking point and Magatsu challenged his captain for his position as captain of the 11th division. The fight between the two is said to have lasted for a full day and to have nearly levelled the entirety of the 11th divisionâs barracks. But Magatsu came out on top and took the position of captain of the 11th division. Although it was not known to Magatsu before he started the fight, upon defeating the previous captain he also took the name of Kenpachi upon himself, as when he defeated the former captain, he also defeated the previous Kenpachi, who passed the name on to Magatsu.
His reign as captain is a mostly unpopular one. The previous captain was popular amongst the members of the 11th division and Magatsuâs Zanpaktoâs abilities being very similar to Kido abilities have only served to make him even more unpopular. But he isnât just unpopular amongst the members of his own division. His quiet and distant nature and reputation as a murderer have made him unpopular amongst the other divisions as well.
