While the land may appear flat and continuous, it isn't rare to have patches of land simply vanish and reappear elsewhere without leaving any gaping holes behind. It is as though some higher power is having fun editing the landscape of the Spirit World with little to no consideration for its inhabitants.
While areas of dense spiritual energy are considerably more stable than uninhabited lands, they are still not spared from the whims of the Spirit World. Superpowers and notable factions come and go, so it is a miracle that thirteen of them have managed to stay afloat for so long or perhaps a testament of their reliability.
Between the protected lands of the thirteen factions, Hollows roam freely, scavenging and feeding on all they can get their hands on, making traveling near impossible without a battalion of skilled warriors and/or fodder.
The climate and topology of the Spirit World vary greatly and usually without any logic. A rich rainforest may pop up in the middle of an arid desert, and mountains may sprout overnight, so maps are essentially useless. Compasses and the night sky are much more reliable for navigation.
