Seamus Reed

Appears to be an average band geek, but mysteries will be revealed as the story progresses

0 · 405 views · located in Chippewa and Blink Chippewa

a character in “Blink World”, as played by Darrion Ruse

Description

Seamus Reed

Age 17
Gender Male
Role in Community High School Junior, tuba player in marching band
Hair Color Brown
Eye Color Green
Skin Tone Caucasian
Height 66in
Weight 135lbs
Appearance Face almost never without a smile, Seamus is average height and thin, but always appears shorter because he slouches and leans against walls everywhere but when on the band field (Ellie insists it is permanent damage caused by carrying the tuba so much)

Relationship with Ellie/Seamus
Ellie – Best friends and neighbors since childhood, Ellie and Seamus are often seen together as they walk to school every day, are only a grade apart so occasionally share classes, and eat lunch at the same time and place every day.
Seamus – N/A
Important Items His tuba. That’s pretty much it. Actually, Seamus is known more for his constant unpreparedness when it comes to things such as school assignments, pens, and paper
Personality Seamus is always smiling and joking and people seem to think he is fairly apathetic to most things and something of a slacker. Despite this popular opinion, Seamus is actually very involved and attentive to the things he views as important. Friends, band, and finding out exactly how many points he needs to not fail a class are just some of his bigger interests. His friendship with Ellie is something of a mystery to the other band geeks but he usually just shrugs, blows the tuba like a foghorn, and laughs when they ask.
History All that is known is that he and Ellie have been friends and neighbors for their entire lives.
Rest To Be Discovered During Game

So begins...

DAY 1
It was 6:30 and Jeffery trudged out of his house and onto the street. Despite his best efforts, the morning dew that covered the grass unpleasantly soaked through his shoes. When he reached the street he turned on his squeaky heel and started towards the school. He slowed his walk beyond a crawl because he knew what was coming next, and the inevitability of it. No matter what he did it always happened. In three…two…one…

THUD!

He lurched forward as the dark form crashed into his body, throwing his hood over his head and running past him. In a surprising feat of dexterity, his attacker had somehow managed to grab his hoodies string and tighten the opening to the size of a quarter.

β€œI get you EVERY morning Jeff, honestly it’s like you’re not even trying!” Ellie said as she pulled him forward by his strings.

β€œImagine that, giving up after being attacked every single day,” He answered wryly.

From beyond the muffled folds of his hoodie he heard another person approach, with short breath as if they had been jogging all morning. Another sharp tug on his strings indicated Jeffery had a new keeper, and then a sudden release offered the escape he needed to pull out of his cage and throw his hood back.

β€œThanks Seamus, I owe you for getting tweedle dum off of me. Again.” Jeffery said as he offered a glare to Ellie.

β€œNo problem man, I live to thwart her schemes,” he winked to her as he said it, eliciting a huff and a pouty face. β€œAnyway, you guys do that homework last night? I may or may not have, and by may or may not have I mean I am really good at copying down answers while we walk so if you could just…”

β€œWell, if it’s for a good cause,” Jeffery said sarcastically as he fished the papers out of his bag and handed it to the Seamus’s snatching claw of a hand, β€œthough I need you to get me a copy of your English rough draft so I can get some ideas over lunch.”
Ellie rolled her eyes as they made their homework exchanges, β€œYou two’ll never get anywhere cheating like that. Honestly, I mean, how low can you get. On an unrelated note, would any of you happen to have your essays on To Kill a Mockingbird from your last years English class hanging about? Not to copy or anything, but just as a point of reference.”

β€œYou little hypocritical witch!” Jeffery said, running ahead to snatch at her backpack with Seamus laughing and jogging to catch up.

DAY 2
6:30 in the morning, as always, had Jeffery up and out on his way to school. Groggily rubbing his eyes, he pushed open the door and walked down to the street, using the sidewalk and driveway this time to avoid the dew.

As he walked towards the street he saw a large bush on the other side of the road. In a flash of insight he sprinted to the bush and hid behind it, as closely as he could to keep himself hidden. After about a minute of waiting he saw his target approach, wearing a hoodie of her own for him to better turn the tables.

As his unsuspecting prey walked on ahead, lurking towards his house and looking this way and that, probably trying to find him for her own nefarious purposes. After waiting a few seconds from when she passed the bush he took off, arms aimed straight for her hood.

Hearing the footsteps behind her, Ellie deftly stepped to the side, grabbed the hood, and pulled it over Jeffery’s head with ease. Grabbing a hold of the strings was then an easy task, and soon she had a nice, Jeffery sized package.

β€œNice try dummy. Now, if you would be so kind, could you tell me if you’ve seen Seamus this morning? He usually meets me in the mornings but when he didn’t show I figured he ran up ahead to find you, maybe set up a little plan to get at me.”

β€œHmmuphuhry, hmuo. Hi Phihurrud He…” She hit him on the head and threw his hood open.

β€œActually, no. I figured he was with you like he is every other day. Do you think he’s sick or something?”

β€œI guess he might be, do you think we should wait for him or go back and see if he slept in?”

Jeffery looked back and forth along the street, then looked down at his watch. β€œNah, we gotta get going if we want to make it. Besides, I left my homework in my desk and need to get there early to fetch and finish it.”

Ellie took one more look down the street, shrugged, and started walking towards the school, berating Jeffery for slacking on his homework all the way.

BLINK 1
As she passed over the hill Ellie started to feel funny. She walked this way every day but today it was unrecognizable. Upon turning a corner she saw a form laying in the street, dark and unmoving. She ran over and saw that they had a hood over their head. β€œJeffery!, Jeffery wake up!”

β€œWha…what?” he stuttered out as he sat up.

Suddenly the realization of their situation hit Ellie as she stood up and looked back the way she came. Another dark figure stood on top of the hill, something shining in the moonlight behind their arm. Seamus slowly began to walk down the hill as Jeffery stood up. A smile began to slowly creep along his face as he said, β€œEverything is significant here. Pay attention to the little differences, you’re dead if you don’t. Keep track of your every wrong, you’re dead if you don’t. And for the love of God, make sure you be careful around us two, you’re dead if you don’t,” and as the smile gained a deviant, devilish quality, the axe slid down his arm and his fingers snatched it up, preparing to swing.

β€œJeffery, Jeffery, we need to go now. That’s not Seamus and if we don’t leave now, we’re dead.”

He chuckled nervously, simultaneously thinking it was a weird joke and looking unnervingly at the ax. β€œWhat are you talking about. And Seamus, what’s with the freaky joke thing? I can barely understand a word you’re saying.”

Ellie grabbed Jeffery harshly and said quickly, β€œI understand you are confused, Jeffery, but you have to believe me. This may look like our regular world right now, but it’s already starting to get dark, and scary, and you need to figure out where you messed up yesterday and set it right before something bad happens. I can’t lose another friend to this world.” Tears sprung in Ellie’s eyes as she pleaded with her friend.

Jeffery didn’t know what to believe. However, as things got weirder and weirder and with Ellie’s very convincing and very real tears he didn’t see that he had many other options, and with Seamus quickly approaching the streetlights lit his form just enough to show the sparkling axe head. Without thinking, Jeffery grabbed onto Ellie’s arm and began running in the opposite direction, away from the growing sound of laughter.

β€œWhat blink, what’s a blink! What is happening Ellie? What do you mean figure out what it wants, how am I supposed to know.” The longer he ran the further out of breath he got, yet when he looked back it never seemed that the walking form of Seamus got any further away.

Despite this Jeffery kept running ahead, the sound of the wind drowning out Ellie’s voice. His breath was growing shorter and shorter but he couldn’t stop, knowing somehow that if he did it would be his end. The laughter behind him grew louder and more manic with every footfall.

BLINK 1 (cont…)
Suddenly there was a thud on his back, throwing Jeffery to the ground. He pushed himself up on his hands and looked up, seeing a smiling Seamus standing above him.

β€œYou could have fixed it if you hadn’t been so stupid. And selfish. If you had waited for me, or if you had come back to where we meet every day to walk to school, I could have let you go. But you pushed the matter, and you ran from me, and you didn’t even try to fix it.”

The realization of what Seamus and Ellie, who was nowhere in sight, had been saying finally hit him. Every little thing was significant, including something as stupid as leaving without Seamus when walking to school. The only way to stop this insanity would have been to make it right, to re-do what he had done in the real world.

β€œI’m sorry Seamus! I’m sorry! Please, don’t do anything crazy!”

β€œToo late Jeffery,” he said as the glittering ax came down.

AFTERMATH OF BLINK
The next day, on their way to school with no memory of the events of the blink, Ellie and Seamus found a red hoodie laying on the ground, with a large gash through the center and a stain around the tear. Despite all search efforts, Jeffery was never seen again, alive or dead.

Can we do what we did last night again? Baby, you and I could be closer friends~~~!

"GRPHRFODAGHDLPHH!"

If we stopped and analyzed the person known as Zachary, we would easily discover three irrevocable truths:

1. He had an abnormal fascination with strawberries.

2. He disliked not having something to do.

3. He loved to sleep and was fairly bad when it came to mornings.

Using these facts as basis for an assumption, we could safely assume that, when his alarm went ahead and blared music at an incredibly loud volume to wake him up, the alien noises were indeed that of irritation and surprise. He had not been prepared for the alarm, and thusly overreacted when it possibly blew out his speakers, perhaps due to his grandmother playing a trick on him. She really was a kid, despite how old she was.

The first thing Zachary did as he recovered was make sure to turn the volume on his alarm down, so that future instances of this would not happen. Silently, he cursed his grandma before moving to his bathroom to take a shower. Following that was brushing his teeth, getting dressed, then heading downstairs to eat breakfast before heading out to school. Grandma typically prepared the most generic of breakfasts, which is to say she only ever prepared one type and that was eggs and bacon. Repetitiveness aside, Zach actually enjoyed eggs and bacon quite a bit so he never complained, though he would not mind some pancakes with strawberries on them every once in a while.

It was soon that Zachary departed from his home as he walked towards school, his very posture more or less betraying the fact that he was about as excited to head to school as anybody else was. School was boring, in his honest opinion. The only time he felt like he was having fun was, recently, when he managed to hang out with his two acquaintances, Seamus and Ellie, whom he had gotten to know just recently. He himself could certainly consider them friends, but he was not entirely sure if they thought the same way, and it would be awkward to assume they did and be wrong. They were two fun individuals to waste time with. Ellie had a particular fondness for teasing Seamus, and so did Zach. She would try so on Zach too, which sucked because then he would be on the receiving end of teasing, but he could not say he did not like it.

They were fun.

Perhaps he would be able to hang out with them more soon into the future? If he remembered correctly, they even lived somewhat close to him, but he would need to learn their actual address soon, assuming he wanted to perhaps walk with them to school, which he could honestly say he did.

Thinking such, Zachary was not paying enough attention to where he was walking and, of course, ran into the pair, who seemed to stop for whatever reason.

"Oh...? You two. Hey, what's going on?" he asked, then added. "Sorry about that, was not paying attention at all."

"When did...but Jeffery was...dammit!" Ellie yelled, balling up the tattered hoodie and using it to muffle her tears.

Seamus painfully clenched his fists and looked up from Jeffery's sweatshirt, just in time to see Zach round the corner with a distant look, as if lost in thought. Wiping away the stray tears from his eyes he turned to Ellie and said, "What are we gonna tell him, we can't just say 'our friend died while trapped in an alternate reality.'"

As Zachery approached he greeted them by saying he wasn't paying attention but Ellie wasn't paying much attention herself.

Seamus looked worried and said to Zach, "hey man. Um...we were just..."

Then Ellie whispered, "It doesn't matter. I don't care..." and then sprinted down the road.

"Ellie wait up..." he said, with a raised hand as if to chase after her. He looked down, smacked a fist into his thigh, and mumbled angrily to himself. Turning to Zachery he said, "Sorry, she, uh, she forgot to do a homework assignment. Crazy goody two shoes can't handle missing even one point. Uh, lets let her run ahead and blow off some steam. Anyway's whats new with you?" And with that, Seamus regained his balance and was able to chat with Zachery all the way to school, despite the loss of his friend. Laughter and friends always help after a loss like this. After all, he should be used to it by now.

Zachary never had the intention of becoming a detective in his lifetime. He had little reason to desire to become someone who would track down criminals and bring them to justice using reasoning from evidence provided to him. He did not consider himself the brightest person either, but that did not mean he was stupid. Perhaps much to Seamus' dismay, Zachary certainly did not believe the excuse he was given, yet he did not press further. He saw tears in Ellie's eyes for the first time and he was unsure if it was his place to press on. Considering Ellie and Seamus had apparently been friends for quite some time, it was unlikely Zachary himself would be able to do anything for her if Seamus couldn't.

So he left it at that for now.

He could sense discomfort in Seamus too, but the young man was doing his best to ensure he didn't break down or make it too obvious. Whatever their problem was, Zach figured he could give them some time. If he had to make a guess as to what happened, he would assume that a relative of one of theirs had recently passed away, and that would be an awkward topic to bring up. So instead he brought the conversation he had with Seamus a different, happier way. Average subjects like how he was doing in whatever class and if anything fun had happened in band. Because these were nothing serious, Zachary never overstepped any bounds.

When they arrived, noticed Seamus was back up to par, which gave him some relief. The brown-haired boy did not like to his a friend in distress and would do whatever he could to help them. If giving the space was what they needed, then he'd do that. If talking with them helped, then so be it. If he had to hop on one hand and sing a folk song, well, then they were already back to normal if they were asking such of him, the jokesters. However, Zachary himself had something to say since he wished to become closer to the two. He wanted them to know he was there, if they so needed.

"Hey..." he began as they entered the school's front gates. He walked a bit ahead of Seamus and then stopped in front of him, turning to face the boy and looked him in the eye. His eyes betrayed the fact he was serious in his next words. "I'm not the best at... well, serious stuff in general. I wish I could let you believe that your horrible lies worked, but for me it's a bit easy to tell something's up between you and Ellie. I won't ask about it nor bring it up anymore, but if something's wrong, I consider both of you friends. You've been nice to me since we've met, so the least I can do is lend an ear or a hand if you need it."

After a short pause to let Seamus toss the statement around in his head, Zachary continued. "Anyway, lets head to class. Can't procrastinate forever, you know?" so saying, he continued on towards the school once more.

Upon reaching the school, Zach and Seamus put their stuff into their lockers and went to home room. Seamus figured that, with fifteen minutes to spare, he could find some time to go find Ellie and make sure she was on board with the, albeit unconvincing, story he had used earlier. Zach had a good heart and all, but he really wouldn't understand what Seamus and Ellie were going through, and Seamus truly hoped he never would.

Carrying in his somewhat battered and discolored tuba, since he had band right after his homeroom of math and didn't want to miss a second of the one class he was actually good at, Seamus wasn't really able to see much in front of him. With the added confusion of this mornings events, he wasn't paying any attention to his surroundings.

"Hey Zach, lets go take a look for Ellie before...AH!" He let out a shout as the chair directly in front of him threw him off balance and he tumbled forward. Unfortunately, the chair was not unoccupied. Brianna, who also hadn't been paying attention while reading her book, soon found herself pinned to the floor under the combined weight of Seamus and his brass behemoth.

Seamus groaned in pain as he lay there on the floor, all too aware of the positions of the tuba's keys and bell. He rolled off of Brianna as quickly as he could to ensure the relatively small girl didn't die from the combined weight. "Sorry 'bout that."

Confusion swept over Brianna for a moment, the pain from the collision dulling by the second yet she still doesn't know how she ended up on the ground. She focuses, her eyes having gone unfocused from being jarred. Seamus and his tuba, they were the cause of the collision. Though Brianna figured if she were paying attention she could have avoided it as well. She groans, watching him roll off quickly.

One hand goes to her throbbing head while the other goes to grip the nearest stable surface to pull herself up. Standing so quickly proves to be a mistake when a wave of dizziness rolls through her. She steadies herself against the desk, she must have hit the ground harder than she thought. Though as she stood there the pain was already pretty dull, just a light throbbing sensation.

"Thats alright!" She tries for cheerful, though it comes out somewhat awkward when she says it. She slides back into her desk, attempting a little bit of a smile. "I wasn't exactly expecting to get mauled by a guy and his tuba today," She jokes, again sounding a little strained. She looks passed Seamus and spots Zach, and she waves at him.

Seamus, trying to cover up his embarrassment by calmly recovering from the impact, stood up and rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, uh, you ok? I had the tuba, and was talking when I should have been paying attention, and..." he meant to say more, but suddenly gave a really confused look to Zach, who was looking pointedly at him and rubbing his nose.

Seamus put his hand to his nose and it came away bloody. He pinched it and exclaimed, "Oh crap! I gotta go to the nurse," (sounding more along the lines of "Awh Crehp! I gehtta go tuh the urse")

Without another word Seamus walked out of the room, assuming Zach and Brianna would watch his tuba. However, instead of heading to the nurse, he shoved some tissue paper he got from the bathroom up his nose, took a few dozen turns down the labyrinth of school hallways, and headed towards Ellie's homeroom. He didn't often get to say this, but smacking his face and getting a bloody nose worked out really well in this situation.

Mostly confused at the sudden situation before him and also because holy crap all those RPs I applied for really made me forget this sorry DX, Zach kinda just stood there and watched the situation go from one of an accident, to a bloody nose, to watching what Zach considered Seamus' life: the item. They should probably do a good job.

"Well..." Zachary looked at the tuba they were apparently supposed to watch. "I guess that could've been worse. But to give someone a bloodied nose... Were you in a hurry? I believe we still have some time before class begins, right? Unless you did that on purpose?" he joked with Brianna. "I wouldn't mind giving him a small tap on the head or something but that's a bit mean, don't you think?"

Seamus, bloody nose and all, ran through the school in and around Ellie's homeroom frantically trying to catch up with her and talk before the bell. In his haste, he again forgot to look where he was going (an all too common occurrence today) and suddenly crashed into Jane Hollyfield. This time, however, he recovered his balance in time to avoid tumbling to the ground, and Jane didn't seem too shaken by their collision, as Max had quickly caught her from falling.

Red flaring to his cheeks at his clumsiness, Seamus quickly stammered out, "Um...uh...sorry, Hollywood...and...uh Max. I wasn't looking where I was going, cause I was sorta looking for Ellie. Would you guys happened to have seen her, by any chance?" Hollywood was a nickname that he, Ellie, and Jeffery had been using for Jane since pretty much the first day, as a teacher had accidentally read her name as Hollywood when taking attendance, and when it appeared that Jane didn't mind the name, it had stuck. (Seamus had also suggested giving Max a nickname, since they were twins and all, but quickly reconsidered when he remembered that he was just a band geek, and band geeks that drew attention from guys like Max to themselves were the kind of people you hear about in all those high school stories of wedgies and lunch-money-taking)

For the first time in a long while, the twins actually showed up to school, almost on time. "I wonder what was up with Mr. Covelli this morning," Jane murmured as they walked into the school, shrugging her backpack higher up onto her shoulders as she and her brother walked down the hall together. She learned a long time ago, no one does anything nice without expecting something in return. She bit her bottom lip as she thought the old couple and how nice they had been to her and Max so far, it was just so unfamiliar to her, she still felt there had to be an ulterior motive.

Jane was still on this train of thought when Seamus bumped into her, causing her to nearly fall on her butt if it weren't for her brother's fast reflexes. Though, the surprise did cause her to bite down on her lip a little too hard, drawing a little blood. "Oh, Seamus!" She said in surprise a hand going to her bitten lip, though she wasn't angry, for some reason it was impossible for her to get angry with Seamus. Honestly, at first, she hadn't really liked the nickname they'd given her, feeling it was their way of making fun of her, but gradually it started to grow on her and she realized that it was a term of endearment not one of ostracism, and now she kind of liked it.

"Nope, sorry Seamus, we haven't seen her. Literally just walked in the door." Jane said with a small laugh, running a hand through her hair, giving a small shrug of her shoulders. Realizing her brother had been a little too quiet, she looked over her shoulder at Max, raising a curios eyebrow. She knew her brother could be a tad bit over protective of her, though with everything they'd been through she couldn't really blame him, but some times it could get annoying especially when she considered it unwarranted or unwanted. Plus Max seemed to enjoy getting into fights, she felt like she was just an excuse he used to justify it sometimes.

Jane had made it clear to Max a while ago that Seamus was off limits though, she didn't want her brother torturing the poor guy. She'd seen how her brother could get especially if he was in a bad mood, though it seemed they were few and far between these days and she couldn't help but to think it was because of the Covelli's.

β€œWho knows? Old man was probably excited to get another check from Uncle Sam or somethi-” Max had been cut off mid sentence as his sister became the victim of a runaway animal. At a second glance it hadn't been a rabid beast at all. No, it had been something far far worse that collided with his only family member.

Seamus Reed.

Having reacted on pure instinct Max's arms shot out, catching his sisters shoulders he helped her steady herself. He then turned his gaze to Seamus, his eyes burning holes in the poor kid. He stood like that for a few moments, fists and jaw clenched as Seamus and Jane talked. To Max's dismay Seamus was quick to apologize and avoid the full throttle beating that had been coming his way, even worse though was the way his sister genuinely accepted the apology. He didn't know what his sister saw in the guy or his band of freaky friends, because all Max saw in the kid was a possible punching bag and a tuba that desperately begged for a memorable prank.

β€œAnd watch where you'r goin next time, Else you'll get worse then a bloody nose.” Max added with a grunt, his voice completely devoid of kindness. He made sure to crack his knuckles for added effect.

Forcing a smile, Seamus laughed, "Oh, yeah, the bloody nose. Actually, funny story, this isn't even from this crash. I accidentally ran into Brianna with my tuba not five minutes ago."

Seeing that this topic of conversation would not be the best appeasement for Max, Seamus decided to drop it and ask, "Hey, uh, would you guys be willing to help me find Ellie real quick, before the five minute bell? Now that I think about it, she probably headed to the student council office thingy that's in the library to get ready for the morning announcements. It won't take like, five minutes and we have plenty of time before..."

And, as he was explaining the bountiful amounts of time they had available to him, the five minute bell decided that it's only purpose today was to prove him wrong. With a sigh Seamus said, "Never mind I guess. It's fine if you guys head to class, I'mma see if I can't find her really quick. Stupid girl is taking up all my time to copy my homework off of everybody else."

Max and Jane quickly exchanged glances, that weirdo twin telepathy thing apparently kicking in as the two began laughing at almost the exact same time. It took a moment to regain himself from the laughing fit but when he did he replied to Seamus, his voice dripping with sarcasm "Don't worry Seamus ol buddy." He clapped Seamus, rather roughly, on the shoulder. He acted as if they were old friends or something "We aren't in any rush to get to class. And besides I have some uh...business...waiting in the library."

By "business" he meant the two sophomore's who had texted him on his way in to school, the pair looking to get a hold of a certain illegal green and leafy substance. Max was all to happy to oblige, a quarter ounce size of happiness tucked away in a plastic bag inside the hidden pocket of his leather jacket.

"We'll help you find Ellie. Right sis? I mean, you and Ellie were my main concern today when I came to this fine establishment for eight hours of indoctrination..." He continued to rattle on like a sarcastic ass down as the group headed towards the library. Most of his ramblings would have been humorous were it not for the hidden insults and clear hostility.
