❝The Basic Facts❞

Image

Name: Marius Nathanial Telicio
Nickname: ”I have had many names over the years, some flattering and others… well not so much.”The Keeper, Loremaster, Relic of the past.
Gender: “I would rather hope that would be somewhat apparent” Male
Age: ”It is not something you need concern yourself with. And no, there is no record of it.” Appears to be in his late twenties but beyond that nothing is known, other than that he is very old indeed.
Sexuality: “I believe the term most recently coined would be “Asexual”, though I only list this as I prefer to be thorough.”
Race: “I am what I am. And while the world has been searching for an exact clarification of the species my personal favourite would be ‘Sanguine vampiris’ simply because it is much more noble than many of the other doggerel that has been thrown in our direction.”
Role: “It has been my role since I ceased to breath, to record our kind in this world. I am the calligrapher”

❝What I See In The Mirror❞

Image

Eye Color: Deep Violet, flecked with lilac
Hair Color: Pitch Black
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 140lb
Skin Tone: Pale white
Body Markings: His left eye is marred with a curved arrow on the iris due to an injury sustained over two thousand years ago. His back is covered in scars and brands caused by the churches lapdogs following his discovery within Vatican City.
Physical Description: “Why is it our looks humans always require first?”
Marius has been around for a long time; however his face does not show the strain of the centuries as it did on several of the ‘rival’ literary minds before he replaced them. His skin is smooth, silken almost while his face bares patrician features, a strong jawline rounding off his face just below his crooked, curved smile. His eyes are set deep within his face, luring in those who stare too long into their pitiless depth. While it is so easy to declare his eyes Purple and be done, he personally hates such a simple description, especially when it is not apt. For while his eyes are of a purple hue, they are Violet, rounded off with a faint hint of lilac around the edges and it is the mingling of similar colours which draws people’s attention deeper. He also has a pair of silver rimmed reading glasses and black everyday glasses which he sometimes uses, though it is doubtful that he requires them. Is normally seen wearing an old black well made suit with black waistcoat and dark red tie, and carrying an antique pocket watch in the pocket.
His build is tall and thin, the body of man which hides the strength born of a lifetime of spent in such an unnatural existence. Though he cares little for his looks he has come to appreciate that what he has may well be considered desirable by many mortal women, but is rarely of interest to him.
“After all they are simple creatures at the best of times”

❝Behind The Façade❞

Habits: Marius has spent the majority of his existence recording information. And as such is usually to be found either reading tomes in his private study or writing to update a volume. While he has discovered the wonders of the modern world, and even to the point of uploading the entire collection of his written word into digital copies to be backed up on private severs located throughout the world for dire situations he prefers the smell, the feel and the power in DTF (Dead Tree Format) as the mortals would call it. To him there is nothing better than spending hours if not days within the company of books, sometimes with music to add to the experience. He has been known to enjoy researching the modern world he prefers to look to the past as the future seeks his extermination more than it did before.

Likes:
Reading [♦] Most of his time is spent pouring over ancient texts and dead languages, as well as looking into what he calls “The bastardisation of the spoken and written word.” and how the mortals have curropted such wonderful languages.
Writing [♦] Another of his primary loves, the main purpose of his existence is to write about his journey through the world and all of his kind. Something he has taken deadly seriously for a very long time, going as far as to kill over it.
Intrigue [♦] Schemes, plots, plans and infiltration are part of the world and have been for as long as humanity has been separated by levels of inequality. Always one to watch how matters unfold Marius has set in motion more subtle acts of destruction and creation than he cares to remember. Though it has been a very long time since he was part of any himself, due to taking a more observing role in recent decades.
Chess [♦] A complex game of the mind, during which a man can learn to know his opponent even better than he does himself, purely through the tactics he employs. This is one of the reasons the game is so close to his heart.
Music [♦] Something Marius finds to complement the written word, due to their creative genius stemming from similar avenues within the mind. Has rather an eclectic taste.
Tea [♦] A beverage Marius took too when he discovered it while travelling the world in his youth, and has kept with him all these long years. ”Others have said it is a fine wine which wets the palate but I much prefer the rich texture of my teas”

Dislikes:
Loud Noises [♠] He is happy to listen to loud music on occasion, but the majority of loud sounds cause him great pain, almost crippling due to a very sensitive sense of hearing.
Coffee [♠] While he has always enjoyed Tea, something about the dark taste of coffee always lingers with him in an unsettling fashion, causing him to dislike it greatly.
Religion [♠] Always a pet hate for any vampire, the church is something Marius has always held great contempt for. Having seen many rise and fall over the course of time he puts little stock in their deities, but it is something far darker that is the root of his hatred.
Mortal Vampires [♠] Pathetic humans who think themselves vampires due to their pale skin and self-destructive tendencies sicken Marius to the point of outright rage, due to their pretence and arrogance to deem themselves worthy of the gift. ”Such vile pretenders to the throne.”

Fears:
True Holy Ground [♣] The blessed ground of religions has some hold of Marius, for while the deity the religion follows may well not exist the believe that mortals have placed in the protection their gods can offer gives their holy places power and protection. However there is always a loop-hole.
Vampire Hunters [♣] Foolish and arrogant, these mortals have taken it upon themselves to rid the world of his kind, and due to his tendency to remain in one place much, much longer than many of his brethren it has caused him much difficulty with them in the past.
Stakes and other tools [♣] Always weary of anything that has been proven to kill vampires always makes Marius uneasy, especially If they are directed at him. While he leads an easy and quiet life these days he has no desire to see those days come to an end so soon.

Strengths:
Intellect [♦] Marius not only records information to be forgotten by his peers but he remembers it all. Possessed of an incredible memory and collective mind he assimilates almost all scraps of knowledge, unable to forget anything he has learned.
Psychometry [♦] Marius possesses the ability to learn more about an object just by touching it, able to feel who else has been in contact with the object and learning where it has been and what it has known. He is also able to perceive all dimensions of the object through haptic perception

Weaknesses:
The Records [♣] While a source of strength and power for the Coven, and all vampires, they are one of the only things Marius truly cares for.
Sunlight [♣] Causes his skin to wrinkle and lose its youthful lustre as well as cause his muscles to twitch, which is a great discomfort and results in him rarely leaving during daylight hours.

Personality:
While Marius once entertained large groups en mass during his early days as a vampire it quickly lost its flavour, especially since he had never been too fond of prolonged company even before the change. A cold and calculating personality he tends to give people the impression that he is evaluating their usefulness and worth, in order to decide if their existence is of value to him. This is normally because that is exactly what it is he is doing.
Possessed of a dry wit and dark sense of humour, Marius takes great pleasure in some of the older forms of amusement. Sometimes observing the suffering of others and working out how they reached such a impasse and how it might be possible for them to escape it provide endless entertainment, until he has solved it of course. And it is during these times that Marius seems at his most jovial.

❝My Past and My Present❞

Image
Interest:”Knowledge, pure and simple. The wisdom of the ages past will secure our future.” Beyond that there is little left for Marius, not now at least.
Family: “Family is something I remember but, alas, never something I was part of.”Few creatures stay long near Marius, for his lofty, musty and detached air. But he did once have something akin to a family during his early days when he sired a pair of twin vampires who disappeared one night after the Coven he was part of at the time was butchered to the last by a former creature he had sired. Prior to that he had a simple family that he no longer cares for nor really remembers before his mentor sired him, and then he took his masters role following his death.
History: Having been sired so long ago it has fallen out of the memory of most, and voluntarily so by Marius, his age is unknown to many but estimated to be well over two thousand at the very least. Over the years Marius has been the pupil of several vampiric chronologists, succeeding each in turn in order to amass one of the largest collections of vampire histories on the planet, and become one of the sole surviving authorities on their bloodline.
After rising to high rank and prestige amongst the vampires he vanished, leaving only two heirs to his position. Presumed dead for centuries it wasn’t until the was driven from the holy vaults deep within Vatican City that he was confirmed to still be alive; having managed to attain the rank of Cardinal for over four hundred years, and guardian of their archives. A prize he claimed to be worth any price when he first set out to acquire its secrets.
Following his return from history he sought out his former pupils and replaced them in his old role, by force if needed before settling down to continue his work. It has now been many years and his collection of tomes has been recently located following a rather vicious cull, and by joining this new coven he seeks to keep his profile low and prolong his peace and quiet.

So begins...

Marius Nathanial Telicio

Marius walked slowly through the town, preferring the more rustic feel of it to the more modern places in the world, especially the outlying areas but had decided to take a stroll this evening due to not having left the solitude of his lair for anything more than necessity in over a year. Not even the other vampires came into his area of their dwelling these days, though there was not much to appeal to many of them within the records.

The steady beat of his footsteps were echoed by the resounding thud of his long handled walking stick, his thin gnarled hands lightly caressing his initials set into the top. His other hand straightening the tie tucked under his suit’s waistcoat as he examined the street he was walking down.

”Well that is certainly an interesting aroma.” he chuckled to himself, turning his head to a building across the way ” Delilah’s Gourmet. It has been too long since I sampled much mortal food” He carefully crosses over and enters the building, his eye visibly twitching at the jovial sound the doorbell makes when it is opened.
He sighs and shakes his head as he enters before making his way over to a deserted table in the furthest corner, placing down the three books he is carrying and taking a seat. He takes note of the other vampires present, raising his eyebrow slightly at the sight of how many there is.

”Certainly seems to be popular.” He muses to himself as he leans back in the chair, and flicks through two of the books, reading one and jotting down in the other.

Ephraim accepted the coffee with a curt nod, sipping some and deeming it more than acceptable, considering their present location. It was not, of course, the kind he’d had back in Rome, but much better than what you found in most American towns of this size.

The bell jingled again, signaling the arrival of yet another coven member, though as usual, the smell preceded the sight. Marius was perhaps the person Ephraim found it easiest to get along with, mostly for his obvious intelligence and tendency not to say annoying and unnecessary things. He did not acknowledge his presence, however, as things would really start looking suspicious if they added yet more people to the mysterious group of newcomers who all seemed to know each other.

It was still a little crowded for his tastes, besides, and he finished his coffee and newspaper rather more quickly than he would have ordinarily preferred. Just as he was about to signal his waiter for the check, the man walked out, presumably for a break or whatever else they did. A short while later, faint traces of cigarette smoke reached him. A habit Morgan shared, he knew, though why the idle thought came to him was not something he bothered to dwell upon.

Without the same person to flag down, Ephraim decided he might as well approach the counter. “I’m headed out,” he told Arya, more out of sheer habit than any desire to be polite or informative. Generally, he kept his words to what needed to be said, but at some point in the long-distant past, he’d had manners and known how to use them. That time was very far away now, but it surfaced every once in a while with the members of his little family.

The counter area was presently staffed by a young woman, apparently one of the reasons the place smelled so nice. She was dark of hair and green of eye, swathed in loose clothing. These were not things he noted out of interest, but simply from reflex. Forgetting a face, a walk, a tone of voice; these were things that Ephraim did not often do. He’d needed that skill once, too.

“I had a black coffee,” he told her, aureate irises meeting emerald for just long enough to suffice. He handed over the cost of the cup and a rather generous tip. “Split it with the waiter if you like.” He didn’t understand how people lived on the wage being in such a profession gave, and though he was not kind, he always tipped perhaps more than he should. This, he’d always justified, was so that he could blend in, and if he was to draw attention, it would be the kind that cast the opposite of suspicion upon his coven. That was the important thing, above all else.

Cassiel.

It was an interesting sort of name, Virgil mused. It had one of those endings that one heard on the names of biblical angels: Gabriel, Uriel, Michael, Raphael, if he were to tease his brother about it. And yet there was something about it that also sounded rather unforgivingly modern. Was there something to that, perhaps? Had her parents intended to convey that for all its syllables whispered of white feathers and golden lights and castles in the sky, there would be no fairy-tales and no rescuing of damsels to be had here? If so, it seemed quite the adroit sentiment, either that or she’d grown into it with time.

Whichever way it had happened, she seemed quite unconcerned with the danger of being out and about at night, perhaps a thought he would have agreed with, were he not one of those very dangers that lurked always in less-savory places. Clearly, she did not know of him. Nevertheless, he nodded politely, prepared to depart for the moment, when she continued. That brought a smile to his face, rather genuine this time. He may not think much of humans, but there was something to be said for the company of the aesthetically pleasing.

There was certainly no denying that she was that. He’d never come across such a hair color before, and considering his lifespan, that was saying something. Beauty in its conventional forms tended to grow dull after a time, and the prospect of something new was always of interest to Virgil.

“I’d be honored,” he replied humbly, falling into step next to her. “And it be not rude in smallest measure. Virgil is my more official appellation, though of course those as lovely as yourself are free to shorten or alter it as they choose.” The comment was too matter-of-fact to really appear to be a come-on, as though he were remarking about the weather rather than anything more complicated to discern. “May I inquire as to our destination?”
