Cassandra is a no nonsense stick to the book kind of character. She sticks to the orders of her parents and doesn't seem to care about anyone other then her family. Especially her brother. Despite them both being trained as hunters she can't help but get in front of him while hunting and keeping a eye on him even if they are facing other humans.

She holds a hatred for monsters vampires most of all. There's not really a reason for it other then they are the strongest monsters she's ever faced. Nice or not a vamp would have a very hard time talking Cassandra out of striking them with a stake then and there.

Beep beep beep Yuki's alarm clock wailed. Letting out a sigh, she rolled over and turned off the alarm. It was already 7:30, which wasn't surprising considering how many times she had hit snooze.

After tossing her blankets onto the foot of the bed, she pulled herself onto her feet, and threw on her uniform. She really didn't want to be late, especially on the first day of the new school year. Yuki grabbed her binder off of the small desk that sat in the corner of her room, and tossed it in her bag, along with several pencils, pens, and a yellow notebook given to her by her parents before she left.

Yuki quietly slipped out of her room and down to the kitchen, trying her best not to wake anyone else up. She grabbed her water bottle, and filled it up, before throwing in her bag.
Reaching into the bowl of fruit sitting on the counter, she grabbed an apple and wiped it off on her shirt.

Picking up her bag and throwing it over her shoulder, Yuki left the building, and started the short walk to school, munching on her apple as she walked. By the time she got to school, the apple had been chewed down to it's core, so she tossed in the nearest trash can, before heading to check the board with the class lists on it. After finding her class, and looking through the rest of the names, she was really disappointed. Nobody she knew was in her class this year, at least that she knew well. There was a girl who was in her class last year, but they never really talked to each other, so it didn't make much of a difference. Yuki sighed and started to walk to her class, not really paying attention to where she was going. Suddenly she bumped into a person.

'A school day. What joy in this. Alex better not get in trouble.'

Like every morning Cassandra's clock went off at 5:30 am. Slowly her eyes opened and she let out a sigh. She had been having the best dream. Her whole family was visiting a tropical island free of vampiers or any other sort of monster. The four of them sat around a campfire, soaking in the heat. The fact it was a dream came to Cass when her dad started to sing.

Sighing again she sat up and tugged the covers off of her body. Her pajamas were carefully chosen, light for movement but long enough so her skin wasn't exposed to anything attacking her. A dagger sat on her bedside table and as Cass shifted to get off the bed she could feel the stakes shoved under her mattress. Some may call her paranoid. They were wrong.

Rubbing the sleep out of her eyes Cass tugged a tank top and shorts from her closet. After changing she rolled out the kinks in her joints, and turned to punching bag across from her bed. Thirty minutes she spent punching at it and after working up quite a sweat Cass changed her workout to the treadmill.

In order to get a shower in Cass only ran for a quarter hour. Once 6:15 hit she stopped and grabbed a pair of jeans along with a plain gray shirt and her favorite yellow jacket. Her showers never lasted more then fifteen minutes, the water almost scolding hot the whole time.

At 6:45 Cass exited the bathroom and made her way into the kitchen. Her mother greeted her by the stove.

'Hello sweetie! Did you sleep well?'

Taking a seat at the table Cass nodded. 'Yeah mom. Got a good workout this morning too.'

Her mother grinned and strolled over to Cass. She laid a plate eggs, bacon and toast before her daughter and bent down to kiss Cass's head. 'Good job honey. I'm proud.'

Letting her daughter chow down Loraine returned to the stove. At first the woman seemed like an everyday house wife. Her clothes showed no wrinkles and not a strand of hair was out of place. You'd think her harmless until your eyes drifted down to her hips. Strapped to her side was a hand gun while a machete hung on the other. Both weapons swayed as Loraine shifted her weight over the eggs.

Cass had just finished her plate as her father walked in. A tall man he was often mistaken for that of the creatures he fought. He also had a chilling face but the Penn family knew better then to think him angry 24/7.

Standing Cass brought her plate to the sink and rinsed it off. Afterwards she placed it in the dishwasher and turned to her father.

'Good morning sir.'

He nodded. 'Good morning Cassandra. I heard you working out this morning.' He paused and a small smile broke out. 'Good job. Now go get your brother.'

Gushing at the praise Cass nodded vigorously and sped from the room. Her brothers door wasn't far so soon enough Cass was loudly knocking. 'Alex!' She yelled, letting the knocking get louder. 'Get up bro! Mom made breakfast!'

Like almost every morning, Alex was woken up to a loud banging on his door. "Get up bro! Mom made breakfast!" Groaning he rolled out of bed, Obviously annoyed to be woken up at a time he had deemed early.

"If I'm getting up this early, there better be bacon." He called back to his sister, before grabbing his uniform, which he had hung on his door, and changed into. Carelessly tossing his pajamas into the corner, adding to the growing pile of clothes covering his floor. Picking up his black bag and throwing it over his shoulder he slipped into the hall.

"So sis, how many girls do you think will fall in love with me by the end of the day?" He asked. "I'd say at least ten." Not waiting for an answer, Alex bolted down to the kitchen.

"Hey kiddo" His mom greeted him as entered the kitchen.

"Hey mom. Hello sir" He responded as he sat down at the table. A few moments later a heaping plate of eggs, toast, and bacon was placed in front of him. It only took him five minutes to devour the food. He rinsed off his plate, and carefully placed it in the dishwasher. Last time he threw one in carelessly, he broke two plates and a bowl, it took him an hour to get all the pieces out, and he didn't want to deal with that again.

He hopped up onto the counter, and watched his family. It almost feels as they're a normal family, while aside from the weapons that were almost everywhere. It was nice to see everyone acting like a normal family. Glancing at his watch he realized it was almost 7:30.

"Hey Cass, we should probably get going soon." He said to his sister. "We want to have time to find our classes."

'He's a pain in the butt, but he's my pain in the butt.'

Cass rolled her eyes though a smile was present on her lips. She loved her brother, she really did, but sometimes he was so...narcissistic. Following him back into the kitchen she called out playfully, 'I'm betting zero little brother. Girls that'll end up punching you in the mouth however, that I think ten.'

Smiling fondly Cass leaned against the wall and waited for Alex to finish eating. Once done he reminded her of the time and she nodded. 'Yeah. Dont wanna be late.'

Their mother walked over to Cass and ruffled her hair. After placing a kiss on her daughters cheek she turned to Alex and engulfed him into a hug. 'Oh my babies! They grow up so fast, don't they Garret?'

Garret nodded and cleared his throat. At this Cass straightend up. 'Cassandra.' He said, marching towards her. 'Watch out for your brother today. It's your job as thr oldest. And if you see anything strange do not do anything. Tell your mother and I first. Am I clear?'

Cass nodded with all her heart. 'Yes sir.'

'Good.' A rare grin flashed across his face and he turned to Alex. 'And you. Listen to your sister. And don't get into trouble. Am I clear?'

Alex watched his mom kiss Cass on the cheek, before being enveloped in a hug from his mom.

"Mom I can't breathe." Pretty much the only downside of having hunter parents is that most of them don't know their own strength, his mom was one of them.

"Oh my babies! They grow up so fast, don't they Garret?" Alex rolled his eyes, his mom was always so sentimental.

Their father approached Cass and he couldn't help but notice her stand up straighter.Watch out for your brother today. It's your job as the oldest. And if you see anything strange do not do anything. Tell your mother and I first. Am I clear?"

"Yes sir." Cass said without hesitation.

"And you. Listen to your sister. And don't get into any trouble. Am I clear?" Alex's father said. Probably remembering the time he accidentally set his lab partner's bag on fire, or the time he accidentally broke the nose of a kid that snuck up on him, or any of the numerous phone calls he received from annoyed teachers and principals. He considered trying to defend himself, but he didn't want to start a fight, so he just said what he knew his father wanted to hear.

"Yes sir." Alex said rolling his eyes.

"Good, now run along you two."

"Come on Cass." Alex said eagerly. "If we take too long all the good seats. And we can't keep the ladies waiting." He said, smirking as he picked up his bag. "Hey Cass... I bet I can beat you to the school!" He bolted out of the door, trying to get a head start on his sister. He didn't bother looking back, knowing she was likely following close behind him, and even if she wasn't that would make him the winner, and as long as he won, he wouldn't care how.

Nice day today. Wonder how long it will last.

Cass shouldered her bag and with a last wave to her parents, ran after her brother. 'Little brother I hate to break it to you, but I doubt they're waiting for you.'

He took off bolting and Cass shook her head. He always was the one to run off without looking back. 'You're on little bro!' She called, taking off after him. It didn't take long for Cass to catch up and soon she was running along side him. Reaching out she ruffled his hair.

Not a moment later Cass was skidding to a stop in front of the school. 'Ah...must we race brother? You know I'm older and taller. Maybe you'll win next year. Now let's get to class.' From her pocket she brought out a slip of paper. Her eyes wrinkled. 'Right. I don't think we're in the same class cause I'm older. Imma head off. Be careful allright?'

Not waiting for a response she playfully pushed his shoulder and began the trek to her class. Cass wasn't really looking forward to this. She'd much rather be learning the easiest way to kill a vamp rather then the square root of 900. Either way she had no choice and Cass found herself walking into a classroom. Two boys sat near the back and she narrowed her eyes at them.

Is his....nose bleeding? Ah gross. I hate blood. Shuttering she took at seat near the front, wanting to get away from the bloddied boy.

What sick person's first words are lies in the morning!? How dare they....Oh, it's Zach.

Ryner was this close to becoming offended by someone declaring they'd entered the class first when he realized who it was. Foster was not too inclined to remember people's faces for the most part, but Zach was one of the exceptions since he'd had previous experience with the young man. Ryner's opinion on him was fairly positive. The man gave Ryner absolutely no reason to disllike nor despise him EXCEPT THAT ONE TIME HE WAS RUDELY DECLINED WHEN HE OFFERED ZACH A CHANCE TO WATCH A MARATHON OF KOREAN DRAMAS.

"I'm sure it's going to happen at least another two times...." Ryner sighed while mustering a small smile to Zach's offer. It was very welcomed since Ryner was much too unmotivated to assault someone for it, and you know... kinda asking people if he could give them blood was a bit awkward and most people would not just accept. Unfortunately, however, there was no time for himself to accept. "Perhaps another time. Others are already arriving." he whispered, nodding his head towards the girl who had just arrived. It did not seem like she liked him, what with the disgusted look on her face, but that would not matter. Soon all the girls in the school would throw themselves at him, begging to be his girlfriend! Then, the world!

MWAHAHAHAAHAHA....ha?

A very sad moment in his life occurred when he realized he would more than settle for one girlfriend. Being an unvampire is suffering.

....being serious for a moment, Ryner felt something very wrong when he looked at the girl, who was making it a point not to pay any attention to him. If he had to give his opinion on what this particular feeling might be, then he would sum it up as to that strange feeling you know the protagonist of a horror movie gets right before the end, when he connects all the dots JUST BEFORE he gets killed and the movie ends. That kinda feeling, and it was coming from this girl. What did that mean? Was she going to kill him? That must be the case since he was feeling this feeling. Or....was it something worse? Oh no.... Ryner figured it out, the reason he was feeling like this.

This girl was very attractive.

Oh wait that's not it.

I mean, this girl did not seem to waste time being polite, what with her showing disgust so readily. That probably meant that she was not someone to waste her effort on things she did not care about. She was probably a very blunt person, who would let it be known if you were getting on her nerves the very second you did. No restraint, nor forgiveness. A person who would immediately tell you that you were going to die if you wronged her in some way.

....I see now.... this must be....

Ryner knew exactly what she was, with only using that brief moment of disgust as basis. For he was abnormally smart for his age, despite how little he let on. Her movements, her actions, even her very own way of sitting in the chair gave it up. She could not hide it from him, nor would he let her try to. With an existence such as this, he would need to be very cautious in his endeavors to survive his school life from now on. One wrong step, one wrong move, and he would be dead before he could blink. Ryner's face paled upon the realization of this girl's true identity and the challenge this foe would bring with her.

...She must be a tsundere.

.......
.....
...
.

Now that he had worn out his interest in imagining things about the girl, he resume conversation with his buddy. "So how are things going, Zach? If I recall right, you enjoy those koreans shows, don't you?" he smiled playfully.

"Ugh, no," Zach groaned theatrically, his face screwing up in distaste. He seriously regretted telling Ryner about his hatred for Korean dramas that day, ever since then the guy had been teasing him about it whenever it seemed appropriate. Flapping an arm, Zach said in semi-serious disgust, "You know I wouldn't even watch that drivel even if you paid me to. What do you think I am, some kind of weepy housewife? Gross."

"In fact," Zach continued hotly, gesturing with his hands as he started on one of the rants that he usually had when it came to Korean dramas, "I think they're kind of idiotic. They're all stupidly sappy and ridiculously traumatic and...." He tried to think of a word to describe what he wanted to say that didn't amount up to it's really dumb or Korean dramas are scum of the earth. "And..."

They remind me of grandpa.

"... And I'm pretty sure that if they all actually tried to listen to each other instead of running off or plotting backstabbings, they'd have the whole plot solved within a day, tops!" Zach finished triumphantly, his face showing nothing but righteous indignation as his fist landed with a thud on the table. The early students entering jumped at the noise, and although Zach didn't bother to look at them he lowered his volume, stopping his rant early with a parting, "they're all behaving like idiots; what on earth is wrong with them?!

It wasn't that he didn't trust Ryner, who was by all accounts a really good friend, even if they did irritate each other sometimes. (Seriously, how could someone be that lazy? Still, Zach didn't push it too hard - they were friends, after all.) No one knew, not even uncle Damien or Finn. Zach himself had only realised it a few months ago, and no way was he telling anyone. Hahahano. He was already supposed to be over it, right?

Taking a pause to recollect his breath, Zac glanced over the classroom, coming to a stop at the person who'd been third in the running in entering their classroom. She kinda looked like Agnes (odd, she hadn't arrived yet) except with different hair from the back. Maybe it was the clothes. Losing interest, Zach whirled around it face Ryner with a grin, all talk about Korean drama's stored away until needed.

"I think we have home room first period, then history." Zach changed the subject, increasing his voice to be heard over the increasingly loud babble of students reacquaint with each other at the beginning of the school year. He rested his head against the back of the chair, his hands cushioning his chin. "Know who our teacher is?"

Are...are they talking about soap opera's?

Cass sighed and sagged in her seat. A few days before she had promised her mother she'd attempt to have a normal school life. That involved clubs, good grades, and...

Friends.

Cass wanted none of those except for good grades. But a promise was a promise and Cass never backed out in something she said she'd do. After all she may actually have fun doing something at school.

Her whole life she expected school life to be like on T.V. The first day of school she'd bump into her soon to be perky best friend, have a shy encounter with a cute boy, and meet the school bitch who would always seem to be after her.

So far it was nothing like that. All she did was spot two boys talking about Korean Dramas of all things. At least it wasn't anything bad.

Unless, you know, you don't like Dramas.

Kay Cass....you promised mom. Let's start with the club thing. No need to rush into friends just yet.

Taking a deep breath Cass stood and walked over to the two boys. Attempting (and failing) to look like a normal everyday school girl she sat next to the older one.

'Hello. My name is Cassandra.' Without letting the boys respond Cass kept going. 'I'm new to this school. Do you prehaps know of any after school activities that are physically challenging? And not basketball or...or....what is it? Base...ball? She shook her head. 'Doesn't matter. Do they provide fencing? Or boxing? Anything like that?'

While smiling towards his friend whom had certainly reacted to his little jest, Ryner pondered a certain philosophical dilemma.

--Do beans have emotions?

Some claim cacti can sense human feelings. What then, of the bean? They don't scream when you boil them, but perhaps some among them know how to use their "bean". Plants might be aware of the world in their own unknowable way. Under such a hypothesis, even vegetarians would be mass-murderers. Brandishing their cruel, shining knives, they gruesomely flay innocent carrots, chop their bodies into sections, and then consume them to the core.

This sort of pondering could wait for another time, however, as it seemed Zach was done on his rant and had asked a question. Perhaps it would be for the best if Ryner saved his korean drama thing for another time instead of the morning. Zach got much too worked up for whatever reason.

"I'm afraid I do not know. Dang..." Ryner replied with a bit of confusion towards himself. He should have looked into that to see if the person would be diligent in disrupting his nap time. Well there was nothing he could do now but watch and wait to see if the teacher was 'good' or not. 'Good' of course was relative to how long he would let Ryner slack off. If he was strict and wouldn't let himself ignore Ryner, then he was obviously a bad teacher who was bad at his job, which was of course to abide by Ryner's rules.

Ryner snapped out of his thoughts and looked at the girl who sat next to him; the very same one he'd just been thinking odd thoughts about. A pretty woman, and that's really all he had on her at the moment, except this oddly eccentric air she had about her. She did not look too comfortable, even though she was introducing herself. Good thing Ryner himself was a bit weird, so that probably worked in her favor.

"I am sure we have a baseball club somewhere around here, but I think the Kendo club would better suit you, given that you sound like you want to punch something. It's more wooden swords and stuff, but still physically challenging, or so I would say. I am not one for clubs to be honest...." he figured he should have probably let Zach answer but she was cute so there's that. "Oh, I am Ryner Foster and this guy over here is Zach. Introduce yourself, nerd."

"Pfft." Zach flapped his hand dismissingly at Ryner. "Who're you calling nerd, geek?" Grinning playfully, he pointed a thumb proudly at his chest. "I" he said dramatically, "am the one and only Cardmaster, got it?"

Turning to the side to face Cassandra, Zach began to introduce himself. "Like Ryner said, my name's Zach Cardson. Cardmaster is cause my last name's Cardson, and I'm good at cards. Anyway, nice to meet you." He said politely, giving Cassandra a pleasant smile. She was new, huh? Cool, maybe he and Ryner could show her around after school. It'd have to wait till Ryner's nosebleed was dealt with, though.

Settling comfortably into his chair, Zach dug into his bag as he answered the question Cassandra asked. "There's a baseball club along with a whole lot of other clubs," he confirmed, letting out a soft aha as he found what he was looking for. "I'm in kendo, and Finn's in the Archery club but..." Zach pulled out a pack of tissues from his bag and gave her physique a thoughtful look. "You'd probably be happier in the martial arts clubs."

Placing the pack of tissues on Ryner's table, Zach shifted uncomfortably. something felt wrong, but he couldn't Figure out what it was. Maybe that weird sandwich finally poisoned me this time... Ah well. Martial arts clubs, martial arts clubs...

"There's a boxing club, yeah," Zach answered, frowning thoughtfully. He continued to unpack his bag, taking out a pencil case and a notebook. Strange, these don't look like mine... "It's also kinda male dominated, but there are quite a few (scarily badass) girls there too and I'm pretty sure they'll let you in the club even though you're a second year, no problem." Zach placed the items on the table and ticked the other clubs he could remember off the top of his head with his fingers. There's also Muaythai, Tae-kwan-do, Silat, Shiritsu, Shooting," wait, that wasn't a martial art. Whoops. "Ninja-do, and Judo."

Along with some others. "Eh, there's probably more but I can't really remember." Zach admitted, shrugging his shoulders. The feeling that something was just off was even larger now, but try as he might Zach couldn't really put his finger on it. Racking his brain in an effort to figure out the reason for the feeling, Zach lifted the notebook and frowned at it. "They'll probably give out orientation in the hall after school, you can visit them then." He absently flipped it open, staring at the first page. "Does-"

Zach came to an abrupt stop, staring at the page in horror. A feeling of dread rose up in him as he stared down at the name printed in Finn's neat handwriting on the front page, and the horror rose to new levels as he whipped his head around to stare at his bag.

It was black with red outlines, and definitely not the navy blue and grey bag that Zach had been using since last year. OH CRAP.

Zach shot to his feet. He grabbed his (no wait, not his) bag and shot Ryner and Cassandra a panicked look. Oh Nonononono how the heck did this happen, why, no wait he could panic later! First thing he needed to do was uh, check the time! And run!

"THIS IS FINN'S BAG!!" He yelled, glancing frantically at the clock. Ten minutes left, so long as he ran Zach could probably make it there and back in time. He made to rush out of the room, calling over his shoulder "C'ya later, please please please let me make it on time," Before he looked over his shoulder at Ryner. "Dude, meet at the roof during break?" He asked.

He's in Kendo?!

Face one of complete focus Cass nodded along as the two boys spoke. Of the strangely high amount of clubs mentioned Kendo and Boxing seemed the most intresting. Of course she'd beat everyone there. No one else was trained to kill a super strong vamp at the age of seven.

A someone excited glint in her eye showed and she smiled widely. 'Wow. That sounds great. I'd love to join Kendo and boxing. I have my own set up in my room at home so it shouldn't be that hard to catch up.' Noting the pack of tissues Cass continued. 'I love sparing above all. Though archery does sound quite interesting.'

For a moment Cass went quiet. Wait....maybe these two could be....friends? Of course she'd have to get used to the whole blood thing, assuming it was a comment thing that happen often. Though overall these two didn't seem like bad options for her first school friends.

Maybe...just maybe.

'May I join you two?' She blurted out right after Zach asked about meeting on the roof. A faint blush arose at her abrupt words. 'S-since I'm new I was hoping to know more about this school. You've already helped me once so....?'

"I was wondering how long it would take him to notice..."

Was Ryner a bad friend for neglecting to tell his buddy sooner about something he had noticed? If we decide to examine the very definition of what a 'friend' is, then we would get this particular definition, assuming we used the internet to find it: "a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations." Judging by this, we could say that Ryner and Zach were indeed friends. They frequently spoke to each other simply to past the time instead of just for business, and Ryner himself would be willing to help Zach out with just about anything, so a mutual bond of affection of sorts was definitely something they had.

But he did not wish for their friendship to be summarized like that. That was too generic, too bland. Boring.

No, if he wanted it to be summed up, he would have to make his own definition.

"A pair in which one feels comfortable abusing and teasing another."

Yes, that was it. It was the perfect way to summarize this relationship they had. He could not really deny that it might be just a bit abusive to tease Zach as much as he did sometimes, but if it were any condolence, he would certianly not do it to anybody else he knew at the moment. In this case they were certainly....

....best friends.

And so that is why he HAD to let Zach remember by himself. Friends want their friends to grow as a person, and to do that Zach had to obviously remember his own class for..... well, reasons. Just go with it.

As Zach raced out of the classroom, he turned back and offered to hang out on the roof. The hidden meaning to this was not missed by Ryner. He knew what Zach was offering, and would have liked to take him up on it, but there was a cute girl asking to hang out with them and she needed help adjusting to this school. Oh well. Perhaps another time, eh? Since Zachary did not have the luxury of time, even if he was completely against it, he did not have the ability to argue it. So Ryner being the great friend he was, accepted on his behalf as well.

"Sure, that sounds fine." he idly rubbed his nose and glanced at the tissues. They should definitely keep him stocked for now, and it should only become unbearable if he waited another two days before he did anything about it. You'll have to wait, nose-kun. "I don't usually have anything better to do anyways, so you're not imposing. Just be warned that you probably picked the oddest ones of the bunch to hang out with. Zachary especially." Ryner gave a lazy smile in response to his own joke.

"Anyway, are you new to the school specifically or are you new to the area in general?" he asked.

These two don't seem bad. Let's hope it stays that way...

When Ryner agreed to letting her join Cass couldn't help but let a relieved smile cross her face. Her whole life she had gone through school after school and any possible friends were either driven away by how strange Cass became once she showed her true self to them, or the Penn family was forced to leave.

Cass hoped that wouldn't happen this time. Her parents said they were here for good, that they wouldn't leave over a vamp across county. She wasn't really sure if she believed them.

But it was better to be sure and so far Cass seemed to make a good choice. Ryner said he was odd so if anyone in this school would accept Cass for who she was it'd be another bunch of oddballs.

'Oh...Um...I'm new in the area. My family just moved here. My uh...baby brother is here too. His name is Alexander.' She chuckled. 'We've never really settled down in one place before. I've been to three diffrent schools for my first year so....' Awkwardly Cass cleared her throat and looked sheepishly at Ryner. 'I'm not really the type to...make friends. Enemies more like.'

"Moving? Oh how I wish I would have been able to do the same...."

Of course he would not wish his family to move with him, that was for certain. Perhaps to some place where he could be alone, he was old enough now to do so. He could go live a life in an apartment and pay his own bills, not have to answer to anybody, nor be terrified of his sadistic brother. Yes, that would be so very pleasant. Oh, and certainly he would invite his girlfriend over to play, be it video games, anime, or something less immature.

But dreams are dream, and Ryner quickly woke up from this one.

"Well, I at least envy you. A change of scenery would be nice, I would like to think. Lived here all my life with no vacations or anything. Boring." he moaned. A typical person might use this chance to bring up her brother. It was an easy topic to pursue since she had just brought it up herself, but the problem is that would encourage her to bring up his own family. That, of course, was the one thing he never ever spoke about. So he opted to instead try something else. "Enemies? Cute girls should only make enemies in movies and manga, you know. Although I can agree with the loner mentality, given that I think Zach is probably the only truly genuine friend I've had, so I won't pretend I'm very experienced either. Don't tell him that though or it might go to his head. But anyway, I can be your first....
....

....

....friend if you don't mind. Weirdos gotta stick out for each other, after all."
he smiled confidently to her, amused at his own joke once again. That seemed to happen a lot.

These two don't seem bad. Let's hope it stays that way...

Letting a full on grin appear on her face Cass chuckled. 'Heh. Trust me, it does get a little tiring moving place to place.' Her smile slipped a little. 'I just hope we don't have to do it again any time soon. I especially worry about my younger brother. He's a growing boy and I'm afraid he'll find someone he really likes and then we'll be forced to leave.'

Sighing Cass brushed a strand of hair out of her face. 'Sorry. I shouldn't be going on and on about my brother. He's just, my best friend you know?' Assuming the teacher wouldn't be here any time soon Cass settled more comfortably in her desk. Normally she'd sit up front but there was a little comfort in being able to sit by someone so nice.

At the mention of being a friend Cass bit her bottom lip. 'Um....why not? Might as well. And trust me, I have a pretty werid life. I'm sure you're no stranger then me. And I-' What Ryner had said earlier suddenly came to mind and Cassandra's whole face went deep red.

'C-cute?!'

Sure Cass had met some boys who had found her attractive before, and she didn't really think of herself as ugly...

But to have a seemingly normal boy actually compliment her in such a way was almost alien and Cass didn't really know how to react, which was evident my thr flabbergasted look on her face.

What kind of overconfidence in yourself and your abilities must you have to be able to bring yourself up in a conversation you aren't even a part of!?

He knew nothing at all of Cassandra's brother, but it was already clear that this guy would worm his way into someone's chat even if he was unwelcome or even unknown. This narcissist brother of hers astounded Ryner with his skills in the art of being a complete douche. He was the first man Ryner had ever despised... save his own family. How dare he?

It was a bit upsetting Ryner did not have someone he could hate. There was nobody to glare at seriously, nor exchange heated words. This would spice things up a bit, Ryner figured, but going out of his way to make an enemy would require effort, and that kind of effort only really existed in Ryner's head. Considering his sister's personality so far, it did not seem like 'Alexander' guy would be that bad. Perhaps he too was kind and friendly? The vision of a narcissist that Foster had envisioned could only be a false one with no relation to the real deal whatsoever.

None at all.

Ryner resisted the urge to mutter "I don't." when Cassandra mentioned her brother being her best friend. To him that was a foreign thought. He knew exactly how family was supposed to act. They were supposed to support and help each other through hard times, not cause despair and anger. But his family did just that. Oddly enough, when it came to each other, Ryner's family was very close. They all seemed to love each other a great deal and they got along quite well. There was, of course, the matter of respect and power that the primitives seemed to have, but more or less they fit the description of a sound family whom enjoyed each other's presence. But they 180 whenever Ryner is involved. They act as though he's a burden. Almost like he was an unwanted, adopted kid in the wrong family.

How he had wished he was adopted, then he would at least be able to revel in the fact that he wasn't blood-related to any of them.

This whole mention of family was almost noticeably turning the unvampire's mood sour. His default, bored expression had just begun to corrupt itself into a scowl of sorts. Well more of a pout, actually. But in perhaps just the nick of time, this woman had saved him.

"C-cute?!"

Actually, Ryner had expected Cassandra to miss his compliment entirely considering how nonchalant and subtle the tone of his voice was when he said it. But it was so very amusing the expression she made. Her face was red as a beet, and honestly that was probably the cutest thing he'd seen a girl do recently. And also the funniest. Ryner couldn't help but laugh.

"What is that reaction? Did I say something wrong?" he asked as though he didn't understand why she was being so awkward. He wasn't dense, so this was certainly not the case, he could tell why. After all, if someone suddenly genuinely called him handsome he might react in a similar way, though maybe much less noticeable. But he wouldn't be able to hide his own red cheeks so perhaps he shouldn't tease her too much. "Or maybe you don't want a weirdo like me saying that...."

Unfortunately for Cassadra, he wouldn't be able to resist himself.

Is he laughing? Why is he laughing?

Being much too shocked to notice Ryner's unhappy reaction to the mention of family Cass simple spluttered. 'H-hey! Don't laugh at me!' Punching him (though she held back a tiny bit) in the arm roughly her face finally manged to revert back to a somewhat normal color.

Never mind the pink on her cheeks.

'I'm just not used to such a causal complement is all.' She crossed her arms and huffed. Teasing was something she did often to her brother and now being on the other end was much different.

Cass sighed. 'Don't worry. I'm not mad. But I will get revenge for it.' Chuckling at Ryner she gave a wink. 'And then you'll be the blushing one pretty boy.'

Of course Cass had no idea what she could do to get Ryner to blush like she was just a few seconds ago. She could prehaps ask Zach. After all Ryner did say they were friends. But Cass wanted revenge now. She had never done anything like this before.

Racking her brain Cass tried to think of every instant she had seen her father blush because of her mother. Sometimes they would whisper to eachother, or her mom would pinch dad on his behind. Cass wouldn't be doing any of that, but it did give her an idea.

Her eyes slipped halfway shut and she leaned forward and stopped just a few inches from Ryner's face. For a good ten seconds she only stared at him, then began to lean again and....

Kissed him right on the cheek.

Ryner did not seem to believe a word she said. Ryner, blush? Ha. As if. There was no way in hell that anybody could evoke such a response from him! Cassandra was obviously just wasting her time if she thought otherwise so if she had nothing better to do than try, then so be it.

"Yeah yeah, I'm sure one day you'll fall asleep in class and succeed in your dreams." he smirked, though rubbed his arm. This woman had quite the playful punch, or maybe he was actually a wimp. Or maybe both. "But you can try." he added.

And then it happened.

The final showdown between unvampire and vampire hunter.

Two opposing forces, conflicting ideals, opposite genders, and something else that sounded edgy had gone at it.

A battle had begun.

With a look not unlike she might have partook of some pretty dank kush - most likely to appear sexy - Cassandra leaned a bit too close for comfort and simply gave Ryner quite the long stare. This alone started to make Ryner's blood boil, though he did his best to erase any evidence of it having an effect on him. He locked away his emotions for the sake of victory. Though a valiant effort, Ryner had shut down any chance of Cassandra riling him up by sheer will alone. He was certainly not use to this, so it was a difficult task to accomplish, but it was game over.

His win.

....except it wasn't.

Now you may think, "Why would Ryner have any problem with women when he's so devilishly handsome and perfect in every way possible?". Well, my friends, that would be an incorrect assumption, even if Ryner would like to agree with you. You see, Ryner Foster had problems with his family, as you may know. These were not little problems, they were not little disputes. He had been mistreated and abused to the point where he tried to run away, and when they caught him he was abused some more.

But telling you this isn't meant to arise sorrow or pity. It's meant to help you understand one thing. And that one thing is this:

Ryner was not always the social butterfly he was.

Way back when, when he was just a young little unvampire, he was shy. Shy might be an understatement, actually. He was afraid. Afraid of what the world would try to do to him. He had nobody to listen to, nobody to rely on, and not a single person whom cared for his well-being. And so it was for these reasons that he was, more or less, completely and utterly helpless as a human being.

...err, unvampire.

Throughout his early years he spoke not to a soul unless spoken to, and even then he would be hard-pressed to reply coherently. So he did not have many friends. No, he did not have any. At all. So his social skills were underdeveloped until just very recently, when he was on the brink of reaching his Despair Event Horizon. And it was nearing the point of no return, of absolute and endless despair that he met a man. That man said to him one thing:

"Quit being a little bitch."

"If nobody will help you, then help yourself."

These words had resonated with the young Ryner Foster, whom was so close to abandoning everything and pursuing death. It was like they were spoken by himself. Probably because they were. The man was nothing more than a fragment of his imagination that appeared because he was quite bored from brooding all the time. Nevertheless, he still decided he would not give up on himself just yet. He led himself out of a depression, thinking there had to be more to life than despair.

And he learned that there indeed was when he one day stumbled upon a dirty magazine while walking to school.

But I digress, and that is a story for a different time.

Anyway, what was originally meant to be stated was that, up to this point, Ryner had never gotten much attention, especially from those of the female gender. And so despite what you may actually believe, he did not have enough immunity to such situations as not to react, though he would do that politely, at the very least.

"W-w-wha!?! That's.... cheating......"

As subtle as a honey badger tearing a cobra apart, Ryner's cheeks exploded into a brilliant crimson red and his impenetrable shell of a facial facade had been penetrated, the young man obviously losing his cool as a result. In what might have also been a coincidence, his nose began bleeding too. Grabbing one of the tissues that Zachary had provided him, he attempted to wipe the blood from a face that was equally as red.

He had never been kissed before, not even on the cheek.

Cassandra One, Ryner Zero.

Cass exploded into laughter. The good kind were you double over, clutching your stomach and just gasp for breath.

'Oh...oh my god...' Tears welled in her eyes and she placed a hand over her mouth to try and quiet the almost snorting laughter. 'That was...was great. I wish you could of seen your face.'

Grinning Cassandra found herself enjoying this moment so much that the blood she normally would gag at didn't even bother her.

Okay maybe it did a little. But not enough to ruin the moment.

Taking deep breaths to slow the laughter Cass grabbed a tissue herself and began to dab at the liquid along with Ryner. 'Gosh. Sorry Ryner. I didn't think it'd have that effect on you. Guess I've got more skills in me then I thought.' Playfully she flipped her hair with her free hand.

'Really though I am sorry if I make you uncomfortable. I just couldn't back down from the challenge.' She crumbled the tissue and tossed it at thr trash can a few feet from them. 'I'll have you know I always win. And that was not cheating. We had no rules.'

She broke into giggles again and shook her head before giving Ryner a bright smile. 'I think we'll be good friends Ryner. Nose bleeds and all.'

Stupid.... if you're going to overreact to being called 'cute', don't just suddenly kiss me like that....!

It was embarrassing. Defeat was not something that Ryner faced often. This was likely due to Ryner being lazy and not actually engaging in activities that one could 'lose' with some exceptions when it came to hanging out with Zach, but he was definitely not a fan of the feeling of loss. It left a sour taste in his mouth and his reputation for being perfect was being tarnished by this new girl.

E-Embarrassing...

Ryner did not recover instantaneously by any means. The blow had been dealt and his pride had all but been shattered, thrown away the very moment that he lost his cool. How could he be defeated by such a woman! It nagged at him for quite some time and prevented him from directly facing her. He averted his eyes in shame.

"...still, to do that..." muttering this to himself, Ryner glanced briefly at Cassandra before resting his chin on his arms on the desk. Although his face was still beet red, an unexpectedly serious expression marked Ryner's face as he came to a rather depressing realization.

The first person to even kiss me on the cheek is a girl I just met trying to fluster me. How.... pathetic.

It could be said that Ryner did not entirely escape his depression, just the worst part of it. He owned a sense of self-loathing, not for being what he was, but because he was too weak. If he was strong he could have left his family and not had to deal with them. If he was strong he would have a girlfriend by now. If he was strong.... he wouldn't be so flustered by finally losing his cheek virginity. And from time to time, he becomes pessimistic, if only for the briefest of moments. The current happening is an example of this. An especially bad one too, considering the context for him being upset.

....if I'm so moved by a kiss on the cheek, how am I supposed to function if I get into a more serious interaction with a girl? Like a kiss... on the lips? Like groping boobs? Like.... well.... like.....l-like......holding hands

......

......

......stuff

He could continue these thoughts forever, just pondering such an important dilemma. But the show must go on and he needed to stop dwelling on things. He knew he wouldn't fix anything by moping around, nor did he intend to. It was just easier to do so and him being the lazy being he was, well, the easier route usually appealed to him.

Ryner lifted his head after but a couple of seconds, the odd expression vanishing from his face (still red, mind you) and being replaced by a bored one as he finally managed to reply to Cassandra. "Well, excuse me. Just because I don't overreact to being complimented doesn't mean I'm very good... with things..." staying true to his hypocritical nature (that is to say, the traits of his character are what's hypocritical), he is fairly perverted but not very experienced nor good with perverted things. Saying odd things with a girl he just met was a bit beyond his current capabilities, so he would have to level up a bit first.

"....I would not mind it if you went easy on me in the future if we're going to be good friends."

I'm too tired to remember if the teacher is in this room or not so hopefully that isn't the case lel

(Realized that Robin might be a second year too, so here's my attempt at including him. And also to talk to the other characters, haha. Sorry for all the editing.)

Zach briskly walked down the hall with his hands in his pockets, a small smile on his face. He made no effort to increase his speed; he'd already gotten a teacher's pass and there really wasn't any reason to show up red in the face from running. Zach could feel his smile grow a little bigger as he remembered - he'd helped someone, he'd been good, and yup, no need to run like the wind now that he didn't need to worry about being late.

Life is awesome.

Spying a familiar looking back up ahead, Zach waved and walked faster. "Yo, Robin!" He called out, a pleasant grin on his face. "What's up?"

Who knew school would be kinda fun?

Ryner simple rested his head on the desk and Cass smiled fondly. 'There there....At least you're cute.' She patted his back, having no idea what to do. Is this how friends treat eachother? She didn't know. All the television shows seemed to make friends tease one another, so maybe she was just bad at it.

Her thoughts were cut off by Ryner raising his head and speaking. Cass tilted her head at his words. 'Really? Doesn't your girlfriend kiss you on the cheek?'

Sighing Cass leaned back in her seat. 'Don't worry. The physical contact was a one time thing. I don't usually kiss boys. Er...actually.' Overcome by sudden embarrassement Cass looked away. 'I just realized. I've never kissed a boy before. That was my first.'

"How long must Rinka wait before her hair stays in the ponytail?"

You know, had he been aware of what Cassandra really was, his last words before death would have probably just been a compliment on how flawless she had killed him. Because the sneak attack that Cassandra launched upon Ryner had been entirely successful and left the young unvampire no chance for retaliation. As the stake was driven into his heart he felt a sharp pain and soon realized that he was in fact going to die. She must have been a very opportunistic killer.

...But I don't have a girlfriend.

Ryner mentally shed a tear at his pride, which was both brutally and unknowingly murdered by his new friend. Such words had destroyed the inside of Ryner, almost leaving him a husk. But at that very same time, when Cassandra had realized that she just kissed a boy for the first time, Ryner couldn't help but chuckle to himself. "Stupid. Why did you do it then? Most girls I have met always have some weird fantasy where even the first time they look at a boy has to be some special occurrence, not a heat-of-the-moment thing like that. So kissing is a bit...well I can't say I hate it but..." Ryner trailed off for a minute and his face reddened a bit more.

"Well, whatever. Nevermind. I just suggest you don't' go kissing everybody who embarrasses you though. You'll get face AIDS or something weird, I'm sure." he suggested. Ryner was very worried as a person so as was made very obvious he looked up official names for various diseases and viruses that could be contracted by something like kissing, and "Face AIDS" was one of the more serious culprits. Unfortunate as it may sound, Foster had no interest in becoming a doctor. His skills in the medical knowledge field would not be put to use. Thank God.

Who's he calling stupid?

Cass scoffed, looking rather offended. Did he truly just compare her to other girls? She wasn't even close to the other girls here. How many of them had gotten a handgun for their seventh birthday? Not many she'd guess.
'It's not like kissing is that big of a deal.' She shrugged and slugged him again in the shoulder. 'I just thought my first kiss would be, y'know. On the mouth.'

Sighing Cass rested her chin on her palm. 'Gotta say though it was diffrent then I expected. Had to be like in the movies right?' Cass leaned forward now, again close to Ryner's face though for a diffrent reason now. 'What about you? Was your first kiss big? Sparkles and the lot?'

Not being a mind reader and much to focused on her own thought to read Ryner's movements Cass still had no idea he was single. 'Surly you and your girlfriend have them. Right?' She wrapped her fingers around his arm. 'Am I a bad kisser? Is that it?' Assuming Ryner had been kissed before Cass couldn't stand thinking she was inferior to those made-up girls. Sure she was raised a killer, but Cass was still a teenage girl and to be worse at something then normal teens was...unimaginable.
