"Richmond...I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."

Richmond had just walked in with his son, when there stood Arabelle, and he sighed, letting the Nanny take the boy. He winced as she touched his cheek. "As long as you're okay, I am." He spoke softly, and looked down. "Why aren't you in bed? You need to rest."He said harshly, and thought against kissing her cheek. "I.. have business to get to, your Highness. You must get to bed. You need the rest more than I."

That night, began the talk of war with the other Kingdoms, as most were now boycotting miscellaneous items, and running rampant through all of the towns. Richmond declared war, without Arabelle knowing, of the Kingdoms immediately surrounding them.

At first, it seemed an easy win, as Richmond had the biggest kingdom, but then.. countries were joining from overseas, and he had to enlist more Kingdoms, and soon it was an International War. Richmond had gotten himself entangled in the one thing he said he wouldn't do like his Father, and ended up doing exactly what he had. To the point, where he had to leave the Kingdom for it's safety.

"It's just a trip, Daddy's going on, alright?" Damien cried as he hugged Richmond, who couldn't hold back himself either. "Shh.. I'll be back before you know it, son." He said comfortingly, and handed him to Arabelle. He didn't know how to tell her goodbye, and gave her a simple kiss on the head. They hadn't been on the best terms lately, and he hated himself for it. "I'm so sorry.." He whispered in her ear, and then picked up his bag, attaching it to the horse's saddle, with his guns, and he rode off into the horizon.

"Look Mommy, a flower." Arabelle smiled placing her hand on Damien's head seeing the flower sticking up out of the snow. "Its a winter bell little Prince. You don't find them very often." It had been a year since Richmond had left, Damien had turned two and was developing faster than most kids his age, he was talking well and was actually fairly smart, for a two year old that is.

Arabelle still seemed haunted by Richmond's presence, it was as if he had died but he didn't, every memory of every sweet moment they had before everything had happened usually brought her to tears, now it was just a dull ache in her heart, she still loved him, loved him with everything, and couldn't bring herself to hate him like so many expected her too. Damien gently took Arabelle's hand. "When is Daddy coming home Mommy?" Damien's beautiful blue eyes looked up into Arabelle's, he looked so much like Richmond. Arabelle picked him up fixing his cloak to keep him warm. "Soon Sweat heart." Damien nodded slightly resting his head on Arabelle's shoulder. "I miss him..." Arabelle gently kissed the boys head. "I miss him too..." Arabelle replied with a small sigh, continuing their afternoon stroll.

Richmond rode in to his castle, his horse was tired, and so was he. He'd definitely aged a little over the past year. He'd even had to sneak into an enemy's castle and kill their King. Then, he fought the war he started, and ended up winning. His cloak was broad, and he had on all black.

His horse's armor was taken off by him, himself. And he seemed dark, and dull. Exactly his father. Each step he took, there was a sound of darkness in his hollow footsteps. "Arrange the carriage." He ordered, and he went to get inside, when he heard the all too familiar, "Daddy!" He stopped, and smiled.

"Why, haven't you grown?" He chuckled, and kneeled down, hugging the boy, who had his arms around his neck.

"Daddy!"

Damien had seen Richmond before Arabelle did, the boy let go of her hand and was down the hall in an instant, she followed behind standing a distance away from the two waiting for Richmond to notice her, she pulled her cloak hood down shaking the snow from it.

"I was beginning to think you weren't coming back." Arabelle tried to not to look to hurt when he looked at her, the last thing they had done before Richmond had left was argued, for at least an hour they had just yelled, about things that didn't even matter.

"Not come back? To the Kingdom I was born in?" He ruffled Damien's hair, and laughed. "I shall always return home. No matter who, or what is there." He smiled at the boy, who giggled, and he stood straight. "It was wrong of me to be gone so long. I apologize. But, the Kingdom is not safe anymore. You, of all people should know this, Queen." He hated how he sounded like more a messenger than the King of his Kingdom.

"I've only returned temporarily." He announced, then turned, and grabbed his sword. " I can't bear to stay here any more." He muttered, more to himself.

Arabelle moved forward picking Damien up tears filling her eyes. "So your leaving? Again. It has been a YEAR Richmond." Arabelle almost yelled. "You missed your sons second birthday, you left me to clean up the mess you left behind to go fight a war you started when it wasn't necessary. Damien asked for you almost every night and cried when I told him you weren't home." Arabelle took a shaky breath looking him in the eyes. "Before we were married you promised you would always stay with me, you promised you would always protect me...and when Damien was born, you promised him the same thing."

"Your breaking every promise you ever made to me, you didn't kiss me goodbye, and you didn't tell me you loved me, for Gods sakes Richmond the last thing we did before you left was yell at each other!" Arabelle took another breath, she held Damien close tears streaming down her cheeks. "I want the man I love back, I want my husband back, and the King standing before me is not him." Arabelle looked at him pain written all over her face before she turned from him walking down the hall Damien in hand.

"I want Daddy to come say goodnight." Arabelle smiled wiping tears from her eyes. "I will send him in as soon as he gets here, I promise." Arabelle gently kissed Damien's forehead leaving the room, she didn't even make it to her bed before the sheer pain of what had happened brought her to the floor in tears.

"I've changed, Bella. I love you, I just.. didn't know what to do when you miscarried the baby, and I felt helpless. You think I'm not affected by everything's that happened?" He growled, and sighed heavily.

He went to the Throne room, and when he was called on for Damien, he went to his son's room. "Hey buddy.." Damien smiled, and they hugged. "Daddy.. why don't you stay home anymore?" Richie sighed. "Mommy doesn't want me around anymore, son." Damien frowned. "But she misses you." He shook his head. "No, she's just hurt." He took his son's hand, putting it on his heart. "We both are. Sometimes, Mommies and Daddies have to be apart for them to know how much they love each other. " Damien shook his head. "But.." Richmond kissed his head. "Go to sleep for me, okay? I'll be here in the morning, and I can take you out on the horse again." He smiled, and Damien nodded, curling into his pillow.

When the kid was asleep, Richmond went outside his room, and leaned against the hall wall, and fell to his knees, wondering what he was doing in his life. To leave such a son behind, because he was a coward, and he cried that night, hard.

Arabelle pulled herself together in time to start her morning schedule, she walked out of the room looking exhausted but smiled anyways. "We have rebuilt the school in the south Your Majesty, the children will return there fairly soon." Arabelle smiled at the adviser who spoke to her. "Good, schedule a time for me to visit, I would love to see the children." Another Adviser came up beside her. "There have been a few attacks in the north your majesty, people are simply scared, it was nothing our men couldn't handle." Arabelle nodded. "I would like for you to send one of the lords from my council and ensure them I am doing everything in my power to keep everyone safe." Arabelle stopped dead in her tracks when someone mentioned Richmond. "The King has chosen not to stay, we will continue with things as I have ordered."

Arabelle sat in her throne signing a few things while the Lords round about her conversed about possible things they could do to ensure the safety of the people. "We will use all the spare men we can." Arabelle agreed. "King Richmond and Prince Damien Your Grace." Arabelle looked up from the papers she was holding, she smiled seeing Damien come running in, she knew that Richmond had taken him out for a ride.

"There's my handsome Prince." Arabelle smiled scooping him up his laugh filling the hall, she looked over at Richmond who looked as if he hadn't slept either. "Daddy said you didn't want him here anymore." Damien whispered gently in her ear, Arabelle's eyes met Richmond's and she looked more hurt then she had the previous night, she smiled reassuringly at Damien. "That's not true sweat heart." she smiled kissing the boys head, she looked over at the lady who stood by her throne. "Take him out to the gardens to play please." the girl nodded leading Damien out of the room. She looked at the Advisers who had gone silent as soon as Richmond entered the room. "Leave us, please." Arabelle smiled at them as they left closing the doors.

Arabelle sighed moving down the steps towards Richmond. "I should hate you, for everything you have done, for what you have done to Damien." Arabelle shook her head looking down. "I can't bring myself to hate you." Arabelle stepped closer to him, taking a breath looking at the ring that still adorned her wedding finger, she moved right up to him leaning up gently kissing him, tentative like their first kiss had been, the first kiss they shared in what seemed like forever. "How could you ever think Richmond, that I didn't want you here?" Arabelle looked at him tears rolling down her cheeks. "How did you think, I despised you, to the point I wanted you gone, when all I have wanted is you back?"

"Ever since I've left, I haven't been myself. I've hated myself for ever leaving, and made up this thing in my head that you hated me, which I agree, you should. I've become what you warned me not to be. My father." Richmond sighed, and ran a hand through his hair. "I'm so sorry, Bella." He kissed her begrudgingly.

"I can stay." He admitted finally. "I just.. It doesn't feel right anymore." He thought for a moment, and sighed. "Do you still want.. that family?" He asked her and kissed at her ear.

"Do you still want.. that family?"

Arabelle gently rested her hand on his cheek. "If you were your Father you wouldn't have come back at all." Arabelle leaned in kissing him again. Arabelle moved closer to him pressing her body to his, she bit her lip slightly.

"Of course I still want that family."

"Then.. why don't we forget everything I've screwed up this past year... and get that baby in your belly?" He smiled, and kissed her lips as she kissed him, and swooped her up in his arms, and walked out of the throne room, and straight to their sleeping quarters. "I love you.." He whispered in her ear, as he laid her on the bed, and kissed all over her neck.

"I love you.."

"I love you too..." Arabelle whispered softly, she kissed him again running her hands down his torso. "I've missed you." Arabelle said her breathing heavy, his touch intoxicating, making her mind go fuzzy, she just let the moment take her away.

Arabelle traced invisible patterns one Richmond's chest, she gently kissed his cheek a small smile appearing on her face. "I love you." Arabelle whispered resting her head on his chest linking her fingers between his.

"I love you too." He smiled, a little ticklish of Arabelle's drawings, and he relaxed when they laid their hands on his chest. He chuckled, and kept their foreheads together, and he kissed her lips once more, before he started to doze off on his back.

The next morning Damien came running into their room, and squealed as he saw Richmond. "Daddy!" He giggled and hopped up on the bed. "Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy!" He laughed, and squeezed himself in-between the couple. Richmond grunted, still sleeping.

Arabelle sighed and rolled over opening her eyes looking at the boy. "Damien, sweat heart, its early." Arabelle brushed the boys hair out of his face. "Come cuddle." Arabelle lifted up her arm smiling when Damien climbed under, Arabelle gently laid her arm over him with a small smile.

When all of them did finally get up, Arabelle threw on a dress before dressing Damien, she brushed through her hair before Damien had a chance to take the brush and run away with it. "He's definitely your son." Arabelle smiled at Richmond resting her head on his shoulder. "Rambunctious and full of an endless amount of energy." Arabelle smiled gently kissing Richmond before turning her attention back to Damien who was running from place to place around the room.

"I can see you in him too." Richmond sighed, and wrapped his arm around her back, wearing a sleeveless shirt, and his tighter pants. "The way his eyes glimmer, or how he just wants to make us happy." He chuckled, and touched her stomach. "Hopefully, we have another one coming." He grinned.

Arabelle smiled softly at his words, she hoped the same thing. Arabelle gently scooped Damien up when he came over, she gently kissed his cheek. She brushed his hair from his face causing him to laugh.

"Mummy!" Damien giggled pushing her hand away, Arabelle laughed looking at Richmond gently kissing him. "Exactly like you." she whispered in his ear a small smile adorning her face.
