Fear(s):
Pyrophobia- The fear of fire. Jasper's never had a bad expierence with fire, making the fire completely irrational. The heat and uncontrollable nature of fire just scares him.
Jasper is also scared to get over the death of his fiancee; however he doesn't want to be alone forever. Robyn wouldn't want that for him.
Secret(s):
Jasper has a secret passion for writing Poetry and Song. Coming from a South African family, he was forced to have two aspiration; a rugby player or a cricketer. Now, whilst Jasper enjoy's Cricket, it was never his passion. He never told his family this. Whilst he never got to be a cricket superstar, he found himself a day job and never shared his passion with anyone except Robyn.
Personality:
The first thing to marvel about Jasper is his calm attitude; he could have been given a million things to do but will still have time and to stop and celebrate the fact that you got a text back from that guy. He really ever loses his temper. Jasper almost feel self concious about getting angry in front of others. Again, another irrational feeling in his life. If you see him lose his temper, you will more than likely receive an apology from him....more than once. It's just not the proper thing to lose ones temper in public.
Jasper used to be a cheeky little chappy. He used to be the one cracking all the jokes and making people laugh with his natural humor. That's what drew Robyn to him. Since he had lost her, Jasper had lost himself too.. He's calmness had resorted into shyness and his humor has all but gone. He'll still make the odd joke now and then but he's nowhere near the center of attention figure that he was before.
Jasper has always been a bit of nerd; the ethos of his family if you studied hard then you got the best result. With straight A's Jasper believes that he kept to that ethos pretty well... until he lost everything.
A positive that came from Robyn's death was Jasper's determination. Not only is he determined to find the bastard that killed Robyn and make him feel the same pain, the determination spreads across the board. Jasper will never leave a task unfinished.
History:
Jasper was born to Mary and Peter Roberts in Pretoria, South Africa. His father was a professor of science in the city's university, so the family were well off and well respected. Some would say that Jasper was lucky, he had everything a person could want; he was waited on hand and foot, had his own nanny and every gagdet a boy could ever need. However, there was one thing that the young Jasper wanted but was never allowed; freedom. He wasn't allowed outside of the house unless he was escorted by about a million members of staff, he wasn't allowed to play with anyone unless it was the child of one his parent's associates. Most of all, he was never allowed to play with Black people. Jasper grew up in a time when South Africa was still racially segregated. Although this ended with the the multi race elections when Jasper was nine, his parents were extremely traidionalist. They believed that the blacks didn't deserve a job, let alone a vote. They hired them as a workforce of course, it was cheap and willing labor, but that was as far as any kind of relationship went.
To get out of this frankly Victorian style of living, Jasper chose to move away to study at university; giving the excuse his parents that another university was better for the his degree of choice; teaching. He had always been told that he had incredilious amounts of patience; having taught a few of the maids how to read and do basic maths when his parents weren't around. From his parents perspective, the job was well paid and well respected, therefore they were happy.
University was how Jasper had met Robyn. The university, unlike his parents, had fully embraced the multi-ethic revolution and allowed Blacks to study on campus and mix with white people. This meant that Robyn, being a South Africian native, could study alongside Jasper. She had been studying Law and had lived on his corridor for a year. The two of them had hit things off right away and they were a couple by then end of the second semester of their first year.
However, Jasper had a big problem. His parents. Her loved Robyn, with all his heart, but he knew that his parents would never approve. There was a huge part of him that didn't care, it was no one else business what went on in their relationship.
In light of that Jasper took Robyn home with him one christmas. She had been unsure but he had assured her it would be fine. It wasn't fine. Their had been a huge argument which had culminated in both Jasper and Robyn being thrown out of the house and told never to return. This had affected Robyn in a big way, that night she had sat and cried on his shoulder for hours. She told him that he didn't need her, that she had ruined his life. He had promptly shushed her, got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She had been hesitant at first but had accepted.
Spring 2012, The two lovers had graduated for two years now and had decided to move to America; the land of the free. This particular evening, they had been out to celebrate a friends birthday and were walking home late at night. Jasper had told his fiancee that if they took a short cut, down an alleyway, they'd get home quicker. How he wished he had never taken that route. They were half down the alley when something appeared from nowhere and took his beautiful fiancee out of his grasp, pinning her up against a wall. Jasper saw the shape of a man appear. He tried to fight it off, but was flung three or four metres in the air, landing far away from the scene. He watched in horror as Robyn was bitten by this thing , drained of all her blood and then dropped to the floor like a play thing. He screamed out in agony as she fell, causing the man to turn his attention towards him. Jasper would have been next; life wasn't worth living anymore without Robyn. However, the man had stopped in his tracks and Jasper vaguely remembered the sound of sirens. He had run away from the scene at an impossible speed; leaving Jasper alone with his dead Fiancee.
Broken. That was the word to describe life since then. He had buried Robyn in America because it was a place where she could be free. Her family had been supportive for a while; but soon people get tired, they think it was about time you got over it. But it isn't that easy or simple.
To try and get over it, Jasper saught revenge, he wanted to make that man pay for the things he had done to Robyn, to him and to her family. He had started doing some research. That man wasn't human; he knew that much. He worked out that the man had been a vampire. Jasper knew he was never going to be able to fight this man on his own. The best way to fight fire? With fire. Jasper sought out the Forbearer coven, using folk law to determine their location. He met with him and explained his story, pleading with them for help to find this man. Soon enough, they agreed.
Anything Else:
Jasper suffers from eczema and it flares up when he's stressed or worried about something.
