Fear(s):
Lizzie really doesnât like fire. Sheâs ok with candles for the most part, but open flames often make her feel insanely uncomfortable. Sheâs also afraid of being adopted, which might seem strange for most orphans, but Lizzie doesnât want to leave St. Paulâs. Part of it is her desire to stay in Seattle, but the bigger motivation is to stay near Abby. Losing the girl who is like an older sister to her is one of Lizzieâs biggest fears.
Secret(s):
Lizzie tends to be a pretty open book when it comes to talking about herself, but something she doesnât really share with anyone is that sheâs fascinated with stories surrounding death and the occult, as people tend to find this morbid. Sheâs never really thought of practicing or anything mind you, but stories about ghosts, or vampires, or zombies have always held a special interest for her. Perhaps itâs the fact that they all represent a kind of second life after death which appeals to her, as sheâd lost so many loved ones in her life.
Personality:
Lizzie is a glass half full kind of person, and she tends to exude a quiet optimism about everything she does. With that, sheâs also the kind of person that tries to see the best in others, and firmly believes that anyone is capable or redemption. Whether this comes from living in a childrenâs home run by Nuns, or the fact that it tends to be the running theme of most of her favorite stories is up for debate. Lizzie has also always been attracted to people with broken pasts, and has a tendency to try and fix them. This has won her both fast friends and chilly acquaintances at the childrenâs home she lives, but for the most part she has a spark about her that tends to bring out the best in people. Lizzie is very easy tempered, though she can become easily bored and is prone to cycles of jumping interests and engaging them head on in an almost obsessive manner.
History:
Lizzie was born in a small town in East Washington to two lovely and encouraging parents. There, in modest two story farmhouse out in the country, complete with whitewashed fence, she lived happily with them until she was five years old. A Few months before she turned six however, both her parents died in a freak house fire, which left Lizzie both homeless and an orphan. From there, she was packed off to her only living relative, her paternal grandmother. LeAnne Parker was a stern but fair old bat who spoke her mind and didnât take sass from anyone, and she took her granddaughter in without hesitation. At 87 though, Lizzieâs grandmother was not necessarily the best suited to raising a young child, and she too died of old age not long after Lizzie was eight.
For a while, Lizzie was severely depressed, and for the first few months she lived at St. Paulâs Childrenâs Home, she would talk to no one. Some of the other children at this point had taken to teasing her at this point, making her even more introverted, and it wasnât until the arrival of problem child Abby Jarvis that Lizzie began to come out of her shell. The foul mouthed thirteen year-old was a whirlwind and a puzzle that Lizzie, even as a child, found captivating. The fiercely independent Abby didnât exactly take well to the quietly intense Lizzie and her mildly stalker-ish tendencies at first, but little by little the two developed a kind of co-dependent relationship with each other. They were family, as Abby would say.
Now, with Abby being twenty-one, she and Lizzie no longer live together at the Childrenâs home, but they still visit with each other almost daily. As Abby lives in an apartment only a couple blocks away, Lizzie sometimes sneaks out to walk over to Abbyâs when sheâs upset, or just really wants to see her. Sheâs snuck out to go see Abby at the bar she works at a few times as well. It was one of those nights when a tall dark figure with intense blue eyes grabbed her, changing the course of her life forever.
Anything Else:
Lizzie, like most fifteen year-olds, doesnât really know what she wants to do with the rest of her life yet. She knows that she loves books though, and privately is thinking about being a librarian.
