"Hyaaaaaah!"A flaming blue sword sliced through a particularly troublesome member of the reborn dead and Oishi closed his eyes and sighed with contentment and slight disturbance as he heard the ghoul painfully splutter through its final moments.
"This fighting is fun as always... but I don't think I'll ever be fully used to this damned killing. Oishi thought solemnly to himself as he turned to see the enemy ghoul fall to the ground and contort as the searing heat from Oishi's hellfire still burned horribly in his wound, Oishi couldn't help but notice how the charred blue flesh resembled charred wood in a way, only... meatier... and with blue embers rather than red.
"Still... gruesome as some of these deaths may be... I'm not gonna feel bad for murdering assholes like that. I freaking hate ghouls anyway... creepy." Oishi watched with apathy as his opponents body finally settled into morbid twitching... before suddenly stopping altogether. Dead at last... and burning in Hell to boot, Oishi smirked as he thought about how his powers were sort of like an introduction to what he assumed was the Hellish torment awaiting all the evil bastards that would die that night.
Flicking his sword idly, Oishi splattered the blood boiling on his blades surface to the ground below him, where it faded away with a satisfying sizzle. He was fully awake and ready to go and so far he had managed to murder five whole reborn dead... granted they were all very weak and they all had oddly similar fighting styles to boot, but a death toll was a death toll regardless.
Slowly drifting into an alleyway and fading out of sight, Oishi began to move subtly throughout the town, keeping out of the general field of vision and looking for some more Reborn Dead to challenge... unfortunately and unexpectedly his efforts came up fruitless and he quickly realised that he had barely run into anyone at all. In fact, it was eerily quiet. How annoying!
"I had hoped to get some serious action tonight... not just a few has beens who were practically looking to die! Gah... if I have to wait another whole year to dish out some justice then I swear I'll flip out. With those thoughts flowing through his mind and a pout slowly creeping onto his face, Oishi took the period of peace to think about what he was doing. He had been in Halloween for three years now... and the town was as close to a home to him as anything, he tried to make friends... something easier said than done... but he had had minimal luck. Now, don't get me wrong, Oishi enjoyed his life of badass monster hunting and demonic vengeance, but if there was one thing that bothered him... it was how lonely it all felt. There was a large part of him that missed his family... and-
"No..." Oishi shook his head, he wasn't going to let himself get dragged down into that train of thought again.
"Though I've got to admit... I wouldn't mind some friendlier company..."***
Oishi finally stepped out of the alleyways he was frequenting, he wasn't finding anything worth doing there and he decided that if he really wanted a fight, then he'd take the risk and go out into the open for all to see.
Or at least... that's what he planned to do until he spied the scene unfolding before him, just a little bit down the road.
"Damn... is that... Arthur? The stall keeper? Oishi muttered to himself and his eyes widened in shock as he saw three people gathered around the old vendors stall, a werewolf whom Oishi recognised, guy by the name of Icarus Nikio, was holding an axe covered in what looked to be fresh blood... and the stall owner, a kindly old fellow named Arthur whom Oishi talked to often, had a massive gash in his back with the remains of the old mans blood slowly seeping out.
Enraged, but aware that he was outnumbered, Oishi quickly retreated to a nearby alleyway, confident that he hadn't been spotted in the process. He quickly scoped out the competition crowded around the dead body... he recognised two of the three. Icarus Nikio, a speedy and dangerous werewolf... the first real threat he'd seen all night. Larentina Renato, a witch with a certain sway over the dead, she had powerful necromancy at her disposal and the thought of dealing with her and Nikio together was already putting some doubt in Oishi's usually overconfident mind.
The third party, however, was someone whom Oishi did not recognize... he had heard a scream a few moments earlier (not something uncommon in Halloween) but judging by the girls expression... there was a real chance she could have been the creator of such a high pitched squeal. Was she maybe... recently killed? Oishi knew that residents of Halloween killed on the night of the same name didn't come back... they were gone forever, hardcore mode. But something he didn't know was wether or not newly dead people could be reborn here for the first time on this most hallowed of eves...
Still there was a large, glaring scenario that Oishi was up to this point ignoring.
"No way... is she... alive? Oishi's eyes suddnly widened with realisation. Hadn't someone told him that even the most subtly spiritual of humans could see Halloween in all of its glory on the fabled night of pumpkins and candy? Could this girl be alive? If so then... Nikio and Renato.
"Oh no..."Oishi had to do something... he couldn't fight Nikio and Renato AND keep this girl safe all at the same time. That would just get them both killed... no he needed to get the girl away, hidden and safe, after that, any reborn dead that knew about her could be destroyed... and then he could try to escort her out of town. That seemed like the best idea he could come up with on short notice... the big problem however would be getting the girl to safety while keeping Nikio and Renato at bay... Gah! But by the way those two were looking at her he somehow doubted that he had that much time... he had to attack... or...
"Hey... that might just work... not bad brain!"Focusing a small amount of hatred to flow through his veins, Oishi's arms ignited in a barrage of basic orange fire... he didn't need anything strong, just flashy.
"Alright damn it... here goes nothing!Rushing out of the alley, Oishi flailed both of his arms outwards and a massive wall of bright orange fire erupted and set Arthur the Stall Keepers body alight, with the initial display completed Oishi increased his flames to blue potency by making himself that much angrier and manipulated them into forming pillars in the ground... these pillars would form a temporary wall around the Reborn Dead, cutting them off from their prey... the strain of maintaining these flames was intense, but they didn't need to last very long.
In the chaos he ran up and grabbed the living girls wrist, tugging on it harshly he attempted to pull her along with him. In the heat of the moment
(Haha! Heat...) Oishi's grip was loose n easily resisted, so he relied on the girl following him and hopefully picking up on his intention of saving her despite how overwhelming the whole experience must have been.
"Hurry it up kid! Unless you want to end up like old stall man Arthur here then I suggest you start running... and fast! That fire won't stay there for more than a few moments... and that's assuming they don't remove it sooner!
