Damien is definitely very quiet, always thinking and always pondering. Despite this, he does what he wants. He seems to completely ignore others unless he needs or wants something from them. A lot of this stems from his sisters death, and from missing her more than anything at all. He harbors an animosity to social interaction, and prefers to keep to himself and do what he pleases. Whether that be drugs, sex, or just taking a bubble bath, he doesn't let anybody tell him what to do or not to do.
He leads a very isolated life. This is one of the main reasons why his parents decided to send him on this vacation with their friend's children. They hoped he would open up to someone, whether it be a girl or just a really close friend. He has absolutely no intentions of doing so, but he figures he will give his parents at least some of their wish and attend the island. His goal for this entire summer is to play along, stay quiet, and make it through until he can continue living his life back at home.

Damien's childhood was surprisingly happy, for who he is today. He had loving parents and a built-in best friend of a sister. He had his sister, through the good and bad. They saw each other's best and worst moments. That was, until, Damien was in eighth grade and his sister went missing from her bed one night. The entire country stood still for a time, everyone searching for little Rosie Kincaid. Her body turned up hundreds of miles away in a river. To this day, nobody knows who was responsible for the death of Rosie, and it eats Damien alive.
Despite his longing for his sister, Damien is capable of happiness. He can genuinely smile, if he truly forgets who he is and why. Damien longs to find someone to love, someone to help him rediscover himself. To help him get over this heartache that he feels for the death that has affected him so much. That is all he wants in life.
