Aika's hair is a light shade of brown that can almost show as a dark blonde in the right lighting. Her hair is kept straight through a decent amount of hair care each morning, but it curls when wet or when the air is too muggy. Aika takes great care to make sure her hair covers her hearing aids. XX
Her eyes are a deep brown, only a couple shades darker than her hair, and in certain lighting, flecks of green or gold can be found in them. Aika's default expression is a soft grin and most times, that is what people remember of her- the grin that stays no matter how badly she's treated by others. XX
Aika has a love for fashion, and enjoys finding new styles to try out, sometimes even sewing her own clothing if a part of it doesn't suit her tastes. She likes to wear overalls with floral patterns and pastel-colored blouses, sweaters, and long dresses, especially those with matching ensembles. XXX
Aika isn't picky about accessories, and generally skips over jewelry or hairclips, though she does have flower-shaped brooches she often wears on her school uniform jacket. XXX

Aika always encourages others to reach for their dreams, yet she hesitates to reach for her own. She finds it hard to love herself when people avoid her simply because they can't be bothered to try and communicate her way. Aika hides behind her smile, using it to mask the uncertainty and self-loathing she harbors over the fact that she's different. XX
When it comes to the things she loves, Aika shows gratitude and happiness easily, her true colors coming out in toothy grins and quiet chuckling. However, Aika is passive, and is so obsessed with making sure not to frustrate others that she will neglect to stand up for herself. She always wants to stay on the sidelines, watching and waiting for a purpose. XX
In a way, Aika is selfless, but in a way, she is also selfish. She neglects her emotions so far that she ends up becoming a burden, and she grows upset when confronted about this behavior, though she tries hard to hide it. Aika has more or less given up on trying to make friends with her classmates, preferring the familiar company of Isamu and his family. XXX

When in her nightingale form, Aika can speak, though not any better than she would in her normal form. When Aika sings, however, her song has healing properties that have an effect on her surroundings. Unfortunately, she cannot hear herself singing, and can only heal when in bird form. XX

Being the second child, Aika was already unimportant, as her sister Akane would be the one to inherit their parents' assets. Aika was shuttled off to the staff as she grew up, her parents putting her sister's needs and academics above hers, always putting the spotlight on Akane, even when Aika managed something great. XX
One day, Aika became lost in the city, and found herself moving toward the gentlest looking place she could find- a flower shop. There she met Isamu, a boy her age whom she had mistaken for a girl at the time. He'd not been pleased. Despite this, the two became fast friends, and Aika came to find love in the Yoshida family, something she couldn't get from those in her own home. XX
As time passed, she and Isamu grew closer, and Aika became a fixed part of the Yoshida household. She began spending enough time there that she started staying over for days at a time, no one ever calling in search of their daughter. Isamu and much of his family learned sign language alongside Aika, helping her grow. XX
Aika worked hard to be able to communicate with others, and though she still had trouble in school, Isamu was always there to help translate and encourage her to keep trying. By the time they both entered high school, Aika had almost entirely moved into the Yoshida house, and still, none of her family ever objected. She eventually came to think of the Yoshida household as her family. XX
When Aika got her abilities, it was an incredible shock. She spent a few days hidden away, figuring out what her abilities were and how to properly control them. So far, she's gotten used to the bird transformations, though she's yet to be invited to the school club. XX
