After entering the Hung gates I shall be loyal and faithful and shall endeavor to overthrow Ch'ing and restore Ming by co-ordinating my efforts with those of my sworn brethren even though my brethren and I may not be in the same professions. Our common aim is to avenge our Five Ancestors.

Zhao takes these oaths so seriously that he has killed many men for breaking even one of them. Zhao is also not a man who takes kindly to failure, if a member of his organization fails a minor task they may face something as little as a fine. However, the more severe the failure the worse the punishments, one of the most famous being the severing of a mans fingers.

He deals with with his customers with the respect they deserve. A lowly gang member will receive respect that is "equal to his status" which is a fancy way of saying that he is going to be treated like shit. On the flip side, a more respectable customer such as a mob boss may be treated with more dignity.

History:

Yian was born in China, the son of a low income farmer who despised the Chinese government for keeping him in poverty. Yian learned to hate the communists and as he grew up he began to contemplate ways to defy them, however he was drafted into the Chinese military after tensions with North and South Korea rose and the Chinese were worried that more soldiers were needed. While in the PLA he got involved with the Heaven and Earth triad movement, who explained to him that communism was not the problem, it was the way the Chinese government went about it. When his service for the PLA was completed he found himself becoming a member of the Heaven and Earth group. He worked for the resistance movement for multiple years, marrying a woman and having a child in the process.

It was not until the Early 90s that a Chinese special operations unit raided the Heaven and Earth societies headquarters and killed Zhao's wife. Zhao and his young son were forced to flee China to America where he fell in with the Wo-Shin-WU triad Mafia. After they discovered his work with the Heaven and Earth society they quickly inducted him in. He now is the primary Chinese Indentured Servant and Slave runner in the US, using PLA contacts to get heavy weaponry and Chinese citizens into the states. His organization runs a few rackets and extorts business owners who were brought to the states on the Triads dollar and now owe money, however they focus primarily on their slave and servant trades.

Heavens Temple Chinese Restaurant, Boston Chinatown

Yian loved this restaurant, that is why he bought it out and made it his primary location for internal business happenings. The place was really extravagant, the building was four stories and three of them were public eating sections while the top floor was reserved for VIP guests. Each floor was extravagantly decorated like a Chinese garden, but the top floor was by far the most beautiful out of any of the floors. In the ceiling there was a skylight that depicted the beautiful skies above Boston, while the room was decorated with a delicate moat and amazingly brilliant Chinese plants.

The atmosphere was so peaceful on a normal day that it almost made Zhao forget he was in the States. His son didn't like it though, he had grown to accustomed to the night life of Boston and the design of the restaurant just wasn't his style.

Jiang huffed as he eyed the surroundings "I still can't stand this place, it is too-

"Extravagant?" Yian interrupted in Chinese

"I was going to say simple." Jiang groaned back in his native tongue as he plopped into one of the bamboo chairs. The chair creaked harshly when he landed, and he flinched thinking he was about the hit the ground "Christ! I feel like I am going to break everything in this place!"

Yian shook his head as he took a gentle seat in the chair across from his son "You are helpless sometimes." Yian said softly

"This place is too fragile!" Jiang retorted

"No, you are too destructive. How many times must I tell you that you must rely on your logic, not your emotions. If you do not learn to control them you will get us all imprisoned or worse."

Jiang rolled his eyes "How did this go from fragile chairs to you giving me another lecture?!"

"I am your father and I will lecture you when I want!" Yian snapped back

"I am not a child anymore!"

"Yes you are!" Yian slammed his fists hard on the table "You are naive and reckless! Now you treat your own father with such disrespect! You have allowed these Americans to taint your mind, so much so that you forget your place!"

Jiang looked away, his eyes trained on the ground as he contemplated his fathers words. "I apologize father." Jiang finally said, but in his mind he was not so sure he meant it.

Yian nodded, the straightened his jet black jacket "Good, I accept your apology. Now, go get Lee we must get this business out of the way."

Jiang stood from his seat and faced his father, then he straightened his arms down the length of his body and bowed "Yes father."

Jiang straightened himself once again, and the turned around and headed for the door across the small wooden bridge. Yian could tell that he was still fuming, but the boy needed to learn discipline. For too long he had shown a great disrespect to his father as if he were some American child, but that was to stop here and now.

Yian awaited the arrival of Lee by having one of the waitresses bring him a plate of gourmet beef and rice prepared with fresh red peepers and traditional Chinese gravy. Surprisingly the food had arrived before Lee, so Yian spent no time digging into the delicious meal with a pair of decorated chopsticks. The food was delicious, the beef almost melted in his mouth and the gravy added a sweetness that punched his taste bud with every bite. Halfway through the meal Lee came walking into the room, flanked on either side by Chinese men wearing black T-shirts and jeans and behind him was Jiang.

"Lee, I was wondering when they would find you." Yian called to the man who was walking cautiously across the bridge. It was obvious by the look in his eyes that he was in fear of what might happen to him.

"I apologize if I made you wait Dragon." Lee said in a choppy voice. Dragon was the official title of Yian who was the leader of the Zhao Triad.

"There are more sever things you should be apologizing for Lee." Yian replied coldly as he continued to eat

"Dragon, I swear I did not mean the group any harm." Lee stumbled over his own words as he approached the table and stopped at the corner

"You did not think the escape of fourteen indentured servants would harm us?" Yian asked, not even looking at Lee who stood trembling.

Zhao was in a very delicate business, human trafficking and slave trade was something that needed to be done with the utmost competence to be profitable. When someone messed up it could mean thousands if not millions of dollars worth of damage to the organization.

"Dragon, I could not bare to see those woman and children live in poverty or worse." Lee tried to explain, but Yian held up his hand to stop him.

"Do you know how much it costs to smuggle people into this country?" Yian asked, his eyes now burning holes in Lee's head

"yes Dragon." Lee replied softly

"And you do realize that the only way to make that money back is to have people work it off or buy slaves, correct?" Zhao's business ran on extorting the people that they brought over to America. Some were indentured servants who agreed to work off what they owed, plus fees, to the Triads by doing jobs as drug dealers, or prostitutes. Others were allowed to start their own businesses or find jobs outside of crime and pay off the money over the course of years. Then there were the slaves who were people kidnapped and brought over to America or other foreign countries on the mobs dollar, then they would be sold for almost three times profit to the highest bidder.

"Yes Dragon." Lee answered

"Those people would have brought in well over a million dollars, now it may cost me more then that to track them down."

Lee bowed his head in shame, not saying a word

"Lee, there are punishments for failure like this."

"I understand Dragon." Lee whispered as he placed his left hand on the table

To his surprise, Yian waved it away "no, I would not cut off a finger for this."

"What?" Lee blurted in astonishment "But I thought-

"You thought wrong." Yian cut in "Come here and take a seat on the floor." Yian motioned with his hand for the young man to come over. Lee did as he was asked and took a seat on his knees next to his leaders chair. Yian turned his head with a friendly smile on his face, his eyes welcoming and kind "Lee." he began as he place his left hand on the boys cheek "The punishments are dealt out as comparison to the loss."

Without warning Yian brought one of the chopsticks sweeping across his body, sticking it hard in Lee's eye as his left hand moved from his face to the back of his head to hold it in place. Lee screamed a blood curtailing cry as the stick dug through his eye and into his head, completely destroying his vision. Once the stick was a quarter of the way inside he threw Lee back onto the floor and watched him squirm, his hands touching the stick gently but then flying away from it as the pain shot through his skull.

"Kill him, and dispose of the body." Yian said calmly as he unwrapped an extra pair of chopsticks that were on the table.

Jiang and his mean grabbed Lee and began dragging him to the back of the building, Lee pleading for his life the whole way "Please no! What about my family! What about my family!"

"Do not worry Lee, they will be taken care of." Yian called without turning around, ignoring the rest of the cries as Lee was dragged through a dark doorway and the door was shut behind him....
