Biography
Place Of Origin:
Kerala, India
Birth Date:
July 20, 1986
History:
Shanti history is a little strange, her real parents died when she was 10 in India, so she came to live with her mother's best friend in America. She called the woman Sammie. Sammie and her husband treated Shanti with love and care, but for an Indian girl, who spoke no English when she got here it was hard to adjust, especially since her new family lived in Hinesville, Georgia. Sammie had two daughters of her own, whom she liked to dress up like dolls and present in those child pageants. Yet when she tried it with Shanti, she was met with a prejudice she never felt before. So Shanti stayed home with Sammie's husband Keith. Keith was a independent contractor for the nearby army base, he also had an extreme love for guns, crossbows and old school Asian weapons. Shanti became fascinate with Keith's collection, and realizing that he had a kindred spirit, he taught her how to use most of what he had.
They lived on this sprawling 100 acre farm surrounded by nature, there were woods, ponds, and farm land. Shanti soon found out that she liked to out in the woods better then around people. She often would have to be called in for dinner, and people would joke and call her a wood nymph
Sammie knew her mother when they served in the peace corp together, both were fierce protectors of the environment, but Sammie had been arrested for a protest when she was younger, so she tried to keep in her behavior. Through Sammie, Shanti learned how to love nature, and she also wanted to help people. Shanti volunteered almost every summer, helping other farmers, she soon grew to love horses this way.
Shanti liked hanging out at the army base as well, she made friends with the other army brats (even if they often referred to her as a local chick). She decided when she got to high school, she would try to get into the army. She joined the ROTC, also was active in Four H, and other clubs. Shanti though never forgot her background, she liked to practice dances she remembered as a child.
When the first attacks happens she was away from home, in her third week of sniper school. She loved the army, but this had been something she had to really prove herself at. Not being able to leave, and knowing that Keith was no longer there to protect them, she worried constantly about Sammie and her sisters. The base was overrun one day, and in the midst of the confusion Shanti and several others escaped. Most of the others traveled north, hearing rumors about pockets of survivors. Shanti turned south and traveled by herself for most of the time, every so often she would come across someone. Some were glad to see another human, others had their own evil intent. Shanti learned how to avoid cities, and even bigger towns. She finally made it back and found no one at home other then Elizabeth, her fosters parents pet Beagle.
She waited a few days, hoping there would be a sign, and when there wasn't she finally decided to leave, she gathered what she could find, and carry and left her only home and traveled north. Elizabeth followed her, and she was grateful for the company the dog provided. She was near starvation when she stumbled upon the group and decided to stay.

When she found out that Keith had cancer, he died right before the first zombie attack.
Also when she got a letter from her real grandfather, she didn't know he was alive, he asked her to come back to India. She was still in the process of deciding what to do when she heard about the attacks.
