Introduction
Anthropophagy. It's a fancy term for one of consumes human flesh. I always thought we'd use it to describe animals or something. Not people. It's weird, you know. They warned you about heart attacks and strokes and cancer, but they never warned you about how to avoid joining the ranks of the undead.
I don't think any of us ever saw it coming except those "doomsday preppers." I guess they had it easy, what with their stockpiles of guns and food. But, for the rest of us, the end of the world came as a bit of a shock. The news broadcasts never told us how it happened, why it happened, and so the rumors have been endless. I'm pretty sure we all know the world's never going to be the same again. Our homes are gone, our jobs are gone, and most of our families are gone. I never prayed much as a kid but I don't think any of us can help but pray now for some sort of regularity or, at least, some sort of salvation.

The theories are endless, but the United States government knows it began with a biological experiment. Biological warfare, to be specific. Even though most places frown upon using microorganisms to do your dirty work, someone must have thought this was a good idea. But, it really wasn't. The disease got out because somebody forgot to take safety precautions. Suddenly, newly dead family members were rising up and taking a nibble out of Grandma or little Mary-Sue.
The disease spreads in two ways. The first is through bodily fluids, like how HIV spreads. It's basically the same except only one of those diseases makes you want to eat brains for breakfast. If zombie blood, spit or...well, you know...comes in contact with your blood spit or...you know...it's pretty much game over. So, don't share hypodermic needles with your living dead pals.
Infection through this process tends to take four or so hours. It kind of depends on your heart rate, though. Once the pathogens in the zombie fluid reaches your brain, everything just shuts down and becomes "reprogrammed". Also, fun-fact, if you've been bitten on the hand, you could try cutting off the appendage and pray the virus hasn't moved out of that area. Try to think of it like snake venom in that instance. Of course, the chances of this working are pretty slim. But, it works sometimes. The living dead like loud sounds. Well, actually, they just kind of follow them. That, and the smell of human flesh. Zombie flesh isn't appeasing at all to them.

As if losing your loved ones wasn't enough, the virus takes over the cells of a newly dead human and sort of "reanimates" them. This process is done in about ten minutes. The reanimated corpses, or any of the "zombies", can be taken down by a blow to the frontal lobe or, really, any destruction of this portion of the brain.
And there you have it. Currently, your group is located in rural New York. Our story begins two weeks after the first infection, November 15th, 2016. Winter is coming, and you know that you'll have to move to warmer weather sooner or later. However you became a part of this ragtag group is up to you. Everyone has the same goal though: stick together, stay alive. Good luck.

As Nathan enlightened him on the events at hand William quietly digested the information to himself. Apparently some other person of sorts, had met with them and shot Kela. "Who was that again?" William's thinking tract took a break as he pondered the thought. "Oh that's right, the dog."
"I'd suggest we trail him, but I don't know how large his group is." the junior officer considered the thought as some communication took place between Nathan and Art. The women left the three men, and they were left with nothing but the sound of thoughts lingering in the air.
After a few moments, the younger soldier made his decision. "I agree with you Durant, we can't be sure what that dangerous man may plan next. May as well make the move, rather then wait for the move to be made on us." It sounded cheesy, like something out of a movie, but it was the best he could come up with at the time.
The Lieutenant ran his hand down until it reached the holster of his Beretta M9. He removed it from it's holster and took a good look, examining it for any possible damage. "The only real weapon I've got left..." He thought back to when he still had his M16 rifle. Why had he left it behind again? It must have been out of ammunition, useless.
William snapped himself back to present time. He hadn't realized that he had spaced out. "I must have looked strange just staring at my pistol like that..." He holstered his handgun and turned his attention back to Nathan. His Winchester was loaded, his sidearm likewise. Gesturing with his arm he spoke "Lead the way."
