Avery grew up like any normal child should, in a home that was neither poor nor rich. He was what you call 'middle-class' and so he grew up in a fairly decent area with a family that cared a lot about him. He was a bright young boy in many ways, so much so that he was almost always at the top of his class. However, when his mother up and decided one day that she was going to become a lesbian, the relationship between Nikita (mother) and Marcus (father) was effectively ruined. His father moved out, leaving Avery to live with Nikita and her new lesbian lover, Mandie. While Avery wasn't homophobic in the slightest, he found it sort of odd to see his mother with a woman.
Deprived of a decent role model, Avery was forced to repeat several years of school until eventually he just quit it all together and decided it would be much easier to be educated by his mothers. They didn't do a very good job because Avery is still uneducated and while he isn't thick in the slightest, he gets confused easily by certain topics and will often refrain from attempting to be smart around women because more often than not, they'll point out his mistakes and make him feel ridiculous. He honestly didn't mind at the time because he has his many wonderful friends around to help him through it, although he kept most of his life hidden from them for some reason.
