Joshua Smith is a very proud, strong man. He takes pride in his family and is very much the head of the house. He runs his home with a stern hand, making sure his children know his rules and follow them accordingly, however he often has trouble with Alette, as she seems to do what she wants to no matter what he says. Still, even though he's very serious and stern, he is a loving father, he just doesn't love in an affectionate way. He'll praise his children when they do him proud, and they know that it means he loves them. They do not take his strict leadership as a lack of love, but rather, they know he is only doing what he thinks is best for them. He is a very cautious man, able to spot danger from a mile away, able to relocate his family if he must, at the drop of a hat to avoid suspicion. He's strong and smart, with quite a silver tongue, as all the Smith's seem to have.

Natalie is a very persuasive person, and not only because of her power. She's determined, and attracted to power and strength. She's a powerful woman, able to bring even the strongest of men to their knees. As a girl, she was stupid and careless, which is what lead to her getting pregnant with Damien at only 17, but she got her act together quickly, and became a very tough woman. She may be the mother-figure of the family, and Joshua may be the head of the house, but she's like the crew of a play while her husband is the actor. She sets the stage, and she pulls the strings. All he does is say the lines and get the spotlight. She's rather manipulative, and has a way of getting what she wants, hopelessly weak for expensive things, luxury, power, ect. However, these things do not make her a bad person or a bad mother in the least, for she is a very good mother. The children always feel like they can come to her with anything and she prides herself on being gentle and motherly with them where her husband is stern.

Damien is the typical older-brother figure. He's a smart, good kid. The football quarterback type of guy. He's always had exceptional grades, excelling in everything he's ever done. Alette has always been slightly jealous of him, but she loves her big brother. He is protective of her, and teases her to the point where sometimes she can't stand him, and just has to be a lone. He tries to keep his little sister out of trouble, but it rarely works. They have a good, open relationship with each other but they are two different people and sometimes it gets in the way. Damien is a very book-smart, science-and-math type of guy where as Alette is a very artsy, street-smart girl, and he doesn't always understand her and she doesn't always understand him. Nevertheless, he is a great big brother and has beat up more boyfriends for her than she could count.

Marcie is a sweet little girl. However, she is also very dangerous. Since she is so young, she does not yet have control of her gifts, meaning that they are run solely by her emotion. Her power is that she can suffocate someone by merely thinking it, meaning that, if she were to get upset, she could easily kill someone without meaning to. She's very sweet and playful. She loves pretty things, and doesn't like to work or listen very much, but who would make her? She's too cute. She loves everybody, and everybody loves her. It's hard not to.
